Dark Knight.

"Rise and shine princess."
Anna placed her hand over her eyes to block the rays of sun from the window the moment the curtains came open.

"Oh God." she groaned.
She tried to open her eyes but the sun, it was blinding. Her eyes needed time, time to adjust to the light in the room.

Shink!
She knew exactly who was behind those curtains. It was only him that had all that courage to cut in between her sleep like that. Anna slowly got up from her bed, raking her hand through her hair. She was still so tired.

"Hmm" Shink furrowed his brows at her.
"It worked."
Anna frowned.

"What worked?"

"You look better than you did yesterday."

Really?
Anna looked at her hands they were not shaking anymore and her headache was gone too. She felt fine. She felt more than fine. Shink was right. How did she not even notice? The last few days had been a struggle for her. It was really hard to even open her eyes and lift herself up from her bed.

That was strange.
She looked at Shink hoping he could explain why.

"Well, your husband came to my house last night." He emphasized the word 'husband'.

"Angelo?" Anna frowned. "W-why?"

"He was looking for some mercury. He thought if he could weaken your Atian gene enough for your body to accept and absorb human medicine. He thought you could get better. I didn't think it would work but it did. He's a smart man, I have to give him that."

Anna couldn't believe it. She was having a hard time wrapping her head around it. Why on earth did Angelo pay Shink a visit? Why on earth did he care?
Why on earth did Angelo have to go through all that? She wondered. Anna Rubbed her head. She didn't even want to bother herself about it. She had a lot on her mind, a lot to think of and Angelo wasn't a part of it.

"Were you able to find out why I transformed all of a sudden the other day?" She just needed some kind of explanation as to why the beast showed itself the way it did, she needed to know why just in case it ever happened again. Shink always had all the answers.

"You changed because of every other reason you've changed since your bracelet got the glitch." He narrowed his gaze on her. "Fear."

"Fear?" Anna didn't quite understand what he meant. If there was anything she wasn't, it was scared. Maybe she was scared when those men shot at her but why didn't she change then? Why did she have to change hours after? It didn't make sense.

"But I wasn't scared."

Shink inhaled deeply.
"Maybe you were not scared for yourself because you knew those men came with metal bullets. That couldn't kill you. You knew you were going to heal. But Angelo wasn't."

Anna stretched a hand out, she needed him to stop right there. How was Angelo even a part of this conversation?

"Wait, what?"

"You were scared for him, weren't you? scared he was going to get hurt and that fear, triggered your gene."

"No," she squinted her eyes, "No that's not it...I mean I didn't change immediately. It took a lot of time. Hours. I even had a dream. It couldn't possibly be-"

"Just because you didn't change immediately does not mean your gene wasn't initially active. The sleep was just a distraction, and once you had that dream, boom! the wolf came out to play."
Anna could feel her heart racing.

"You feel something for him."
Anna stared at Shink. That wasn't a question.

"No , I don't."
She sounded so positive. She had to. Shink was making assumptions at this point. There was no way she had feelings for Angelo. She didn't even know him. How could she have feelings for someone she didn't know? For one of them? A Trusk? A human?

Shink looked at her for a while. It didn't look like he was convinced but he was trying to read her. He had something she needed to know.

"Angelo gave your foster parents fifteen million in exchange for their silence."

"What?!" Anna yelled.

Why on earth did He tell her that? Shink wondered. Angelo had made him promise not to tell her about it so why did he? He never really kept anything from Anna.

"I wasn't supposed to tell you because Angelo asked me not to."

"Fifteen million? That's a lot of-why did he-" Anna didn't know what to say. She was confused and had a lot running through her mind. He was doing it again, getting himself involved in her problems when she clearly asked him not to.

"What is going on between you two?"

Anna looked away. She wasn't even sure she had an answer to what Shink had asked. That was a lot to process. She was barely listening to the rest of the things Shink had to say.

"Anna!"

She turned back to him, giving him her attention.

"We can't afford to be distracted right now. There's still so much to be done. In any moment from now, our people working on the bracelet are going to make contact. The G unit?"

He placed his hand on his hip.

"Remember them? The ones your brother said would help us deactivate the bracelet." He had to remind her because it looked like Anna was slowly drifting away from the plan, from her calling.

"Yeah, good luck finding them." Anna rubbed her arms. "it's been days since I sent the signal. They know who I am but no one has stepped forward. How am I supposed to do this if they chose to remain invincible? "

Shink exhaled.

"Patience child, if I remember the G unit well, they operate strictly on perfect timing. It wont be long now, they'll send a message. But we have to be ready. We can't afford to be distracted, you can't afford to be distracted right now." He was referring to Angelo now. Anna sighed. Shink wasn't going to stop jumping into conclusions.

Her phone rang. She weakly reached for it and looked at the caller.

Talk about distractions
It was Angelo.

She scoffed. Why on earth was he calling her on video? She exchanged glances with Shink. He could see it too. He folded his hands on his chest and then gave her the 'I told you so' look. Anna exhaled. She hesitated a bit before she picked up. She rose her phone to her face

"Hey!"
Angelo was shouting at this point. Not that anyone could blame him. He had to be as loud as he could just so she could hear him.

Why was he yelling?
Anna asked herself. Where was he? Anna tried to recognize where Angelo stood but she couldn't.  All she could see were the earmuffs on his ears and the whooshing sounds of whirling metal.

"Why are you calling me?" She was really tired and that call was the last thing she needed.

"I need you to get dressed, there's a driver outside waiting for you. He's going to bring you somewhere!"

"What?" Anna furrowed her brows. "Where."

Anna got up and rushed to the huge window while shrink' gaze followed her. She looked outside. Angelo was right. There was a white limousine parked right outside and there was a man in a suit in front of it waiting patiently

"It's a suprise."
She looked at the phone. Angelo was smiling. A surprise? Why on earth was he trying to surprise her and why did she have to do anything he said?

"I'm not coming!" She had to make it clear to him so he didn't waste his time.

"What?" Angelo places his phone closer to his ear pretending like he couldn't hear her. Anna rolled her eyes. Was he trying to frustrate her now? "I can't hear you."

"I said I'm not-"

"I'll see you in an hour!"
Angelo hung up before she could even say anything else.

Urgh! She let out a frustrated groan and then whirled around, Anna threw her phone on the bed.

"Well?"
She looked at Shink.

"Are you going?"

"Do you think she's going to come Angelo?"
Angelo smiled looking at his phone after he dropped it from his ear. "I mean. It'd be dissapointing if all this preparation was for nothing." Angelo had spent the entire morning planning this, planning a way to lift up Anna's spirits and he didn't even know why he was trying so hard when she wasn't interested in anything he said or did.

He turned to Sam, letting a tiny smile on his lips.

"She's is going to come."
Sam scoffed

"Why do you even try?" He murmured and then walked away.
So much for lifting spirits.
