Big whole Debt
"Yeah, I need you to book an appointment for a meeting with senator Barkley."
Angelo placed his phone right on his ears, keeping it there with his shoulder blades as he struggled to walk as fast as he could to his car while he searched for his keys in the pockets of his trousers. He had had a long day, an apparently useless and long one with no progress at all in solving any of his problems. Laying really low and out of sight was his plan. That was the only reason he didn't buy the idea of having his chauffeur drive him around every minute. He had a plan and he had to get home right to meet up with his appointment with the Senator, maybe he was the key to getting Anna free.
Damn!
He wasn't exactly perfect at multitasking. Angelo's keys fell to the ground
"Yeah uhm, sometime between now and Friday would be fine. Oh And cancel all my appointments for the entire week please- okay. Good."
He hung up quickly.
Who ever thought that doing things on your own could ever be so difficult?
He was so used to getting everything done for him. Why on earth did he give his chauffeur the day off?Angelo exhaled
He was trying all he could but it was really hard to keep up . He looked around to make sure no one was watching. It was really embarrassing but he had to do It anyway. Angelo exhaled and bent over to grab his keys
"Angelo Trusk?"
Angelo paused a moment. He was sure the parking lot was empty when he scanned through. He had no idea he had company, most especially someone bold enough to call him by his full name.
Angelo exhaled
If that was one of those lame paparazzi he could have sworn-
Angelo exhaled
He turned slowly. There was a girl and a boy walking towards him with huge frowns on their faces and their hands spread wide. They were dressed like teenage junkies, no, they were teenage junkies.
Angelo couldn't understand what was going on till he saw the metallic bracelets on their hands
Atians.
"Your life has been claimed." They chorused walking faster, they shut their eyes and sent a few cars driving themselves off the window, breaking the large transparent glass while they were at it.
Angelo was too shocked to move . He had no idea what was going on, everything was happening so fast. What did they mean? He was having a tough time processing it. He needed to leave, and T here was no one there. Angelo turned to leave, he just had to . Whatever it was, whoever they were, he was sure they weren't just there to throw all the cars in the garage off the building through the window. How on earth was it possible they had access to their powers in the first place?
Angelo turned to his car. He needed to get in, he needed to save himself. He pulled the handle, it was stuck. It looked like they were doing all they could to make sure he didn't escape.
"You can't run, you can't hide,"
Darn the car
He was going to save himself on his own even if he had to run his way out of there.
They were getting closer to him
Gunshots!
Angelo stopped running, taking cover immediately beside one of the cars as the gunshots got even worse. There were bullets everywhere, at least the sound of them, he waited until he couldn't hear them anymore, until everywhere went still.
Was it safe? What was happening? Who were those people?
His heart was racing and he was scared, too scared to process what was happening. He had never been the target for anyone in a long time, how did they even find him?
He swallowed hard. He knew he just couldn't keep hiding behind the car forever. He had to check the situation, he had to check if he could still make a run for it. He slowly pocked his head out and watched them fall to the ground. Angelo could almost feel his heart on his lips. Were they dead?
Angelo turned back at the screeching sound of car tires coming to a stop right in front of where he hid.
"Get in!" The man at the back seat announced.
Angelo starred at him for a while as surprise and anxiety clouded his thoughts.
"Donald Grant?"
Angelo recognized him. He knew every member of his board and Donald's face was a hard one to forget. How could Angelo forget one of the oldest members of the board? How could he ever forget his father's right hand and best friend.
He couldn't remember much but he knew his father always spent a lot of time with Donald. They would stay in his study for a long while and not even bother about lunch. Donald wasn't exactly fond of Angelo unlike he was with Andre. He was Donald's favorite. He always got him new toys whenever he stopped by at the house and he barely ever noticed Angelo. Why exactly was he trying to save his life?
He wasn't alone. There were two men occupying the front seats. And they didn't look like mere drivers, one was on the driver's seat while the other stuck his head out of the window to keep watch, holding on tight to his cocked gun
The door to the passenger's seat flew open immediately
"Get in boy!"
Donald repeated, this time louder.
Angelo gulped hard. He wasn't even going to argue. He rushed towards the car and got in right before it zoomed off.
