Anna stood still, staring at the huge portrait of her mother on the wall. She looked so beautiful. So peaceful.

She shut her eyes.

Memories.

All she could think of was all the horrible things that had happened to her family. It had been five years but the feeling still remained the same. The feeling of watching her father and brother die, gunned down by the NSS, the same people in charge of the integration programme the whole world was celebrating.

"I miss her too."
She opened her eyes slowly. Anna took a deep breath as her older brother walked to her with a glass of water. He gave it to her. Anna slowly took it.

"Who would have thought that a year had passed already? It feels like yesterday."

He was referring to their mother who had died a year before from a heart attack. Loosing her father and brother was a major blow on their family. A blow that none of them that were left could recover from. Her mother had spent her last four years crying every night and sick every day. She was never happy even when she pretended like she was. For some reason, Anna was happy she died. She was happy that she could at least be at peace and reunited with her father and brother. That was all they had ever hoped for.

"All I can think of is how much the humans took from me," She turned to him. "From us."

"That's why this integration program must be successful." He turned to face her.

"That is why we have worked so hard to get here. To get you among the first ten. The humans are weak and foolish. They won't see it coming and when the time is right, we are going to bring hell on their world like they've never seen before. We are going to pay them back for everything they did to us. For ruining our lives and destroying our family. We are going to avenge our parents and Lucas and we'd take back all that they took from us. "

He slowly reached for her hands and pushed it down. she looked at him.

She exhaled.

Anna nodded.

"Find them. Try to reach out to them and they'll come to you. "

" Connections. You need to build a lot of that. You need to try to be a public figure. You need to be among the famous people. Let your face be on TV or in the news. They will recognize you. Anna swallowed hard.

Anna frowned.

Her brother was right.
All her life she had watched the humans take everything away from her. No more. This was a little sacrifice for a greater cause and she knew that.
After everything she had been through, extinction was not enough for the humans. And she knew that.

She told herself.

This was her home and they took it from her. They treated her like she was a prohibition, treated her people like slaves and now she was going to make them pay. Every single one of them.

She turned back to her brother.
