That was it

Anna glared at the boy for a while. Those were the exact same words Nathan had said to her. She never really understood why he said those words to her, she always just believed he was trying to encourage her all that time but now, everything was just so clear.

"So the cancer and everything else was a lie?"

"I told you we never left your side Anna." Gina continued. "We were always there. We found you first."

"All this time-with my froster parents-"

Gina shut her eyes for a second

"You knew?"

"We had to maintain our cover. You weren't ready, we had to be careful. That was why we sent word to the arc, to your brother, that was how he got you that lawyer."

Everything made so much sense now, but it also didn't at the same time.  Anna had always thought she was so lucky with the Trusks, but that was more than luck. It was like all her life was already programmed by these people she barely even knew. But none of what happened in the past mattered, she was over it now.

"He was a father- he had a life, a family."

"And so did the other thousands no," Gina shook her head, "millions of Atians they killed for years without mercy. Your father, your brother-"

"I'm well aware of my losses but that doesn't mean I can just go around killing people or recruit kids to do my dirty work."

The girl with spiky hair scoffed, she rolled her eyes.

"Did you even think of what might happen if people were to find out? If his family had found out?"

"I was ready for it."
The boy cut her off. He was determined to leave a first impression.

"Gina trained me my entire life for this moment. Trust me, Nathan's family didn't really care about him like you think."  He  added.

"It was really easy pretending to be him especially after I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. You saw it, all they ever wanted, cared about was his death so they could fight about who would control the company."

"Humans." The girl with spiky hair said, after clicking her tongue about three times. "always so greedy for everything."

Gina smiled, she walked away from him

" I once told you about an organization Anna, one built solely for the elimination of all our species, the black city."

What about it?

Anna wanted to ask so badly but she knew Gina was going to tell her anyway.

"For centuries, the Trusks have owned that organization and managed all its affairs."

What?

"And before it's passed down to another Trusk for another generation, we need to find that company and destroy it. We need to get to level 45 or whatever that is."

"We think they might already be reaching out to Angelo." The boy continued "And we need to stop them before they do."

Anna turned to the younger boy immediately

"Angelo is the only one that can be chosen to continue in his father's footsteps, to continue his father's legacy. He's the only one that has access to level 45."

"Whatever it is they are planning, " Gina continued "whatever it is they are trying to protect in that room, we can't let them use it on us. We can't let them use it to destroy us. It's bad enough that the NSS already has a sample of his blood."

"A sample we had to destroy." The girl added "To save all our asses."

"But they are going to try to get more of it." Gina continued. "And as long as he has Atian blood in his veins, your blood-"

Anna held her breath. How on earth did Gina know?

"I'm not even going to ask or get into why you even tried to ruin all our lives Anna, but since you already did, we'd have to take care of it." Gina continued "Angelo is too much of a risk to bet on. I'm afraid it's time to get rid of him."

"What?" Anna exclaimed.

"Level 45 would not exist without him. His death would do us a lot of good."

Anna scoffed

"You can't be serious."

"Think about it. You wouldn't have to keep up with the lies and pretense. You could have full control of Trusk, we'd be killing a lot of birds with one stone."

"No, you're not going to kill Angelo, Gina!"
Anna snapped glaring at the lady. Was that it? Was she really considering hurting Angelo? All of them? The room was quiet, no one made a sound. Anna could not even imagine they were considering it. Angelo was good, he was one of the good guys and she was so sure he didn't deserve it.

"Why?" Gina asked

"Because-" Anna inhaled. She had to think of something, she had to do that fast, something more convincing.

"It's too much of a risk. Juliana is just going to assume I did it. Let's not forget she lost a son not so long ago and besides if what you're saying about this black city is true, they'd not sit back and watch anyone try to harm Angelo. It's just going to complicate things for me, for everyone."

Silence

Gina was staring at her.

"Are you sure that's the only reason?" She asked her

Anna frowned harder, she couldn't let them see through her, she couldn't let anyone know just how much she cared for Angelo.

"Of course."

The other girl scoffed

"I knew this was going to happen." She said glaring at Anna, Anna hurriedly turned to her.

"We saw the news, we saw how you two were. You love him."

Anna rolled her eyes.

"You don't want us hurting him because you have feelings for him."

"Anna, May I remind you that your job is to-"

"I know what my job is." Anna snapped "And it doesn't involve me taking orders from you or anyone." She looked at them one after the other.

"You said I'm your savior that means you take your orders from me and here is an order,"

She turned to Gina

"You're not going to hurt Angelo without my permission, you're not going to hurt anyone else without my permission. Disobey me,"
Anna turned to the other girl

"And you'd answer to me." She glared at her
"Do you understand that?"

No one made a sound

She could feel her heart race. It wasn't easy standing up to them the way she did but she knew she had to. She could see Gina trying to get into her head. She could feel her trying to read her mind. If it was one thing Anna had managed to learn all her life, it was clouding her thoughts. There were a lot of things she didn't want them to know about and her baby was the most important of them all.

"I asked a question." Her eyes went back to Gina and her voice was stone cold. Gina forced a smile on her lips

"Whatever you say savior." She said

She exhaled in relief

"Good. I'd be the one to set up our meetings from now on. Don't try to contact me until I do."

She turned to leave. Anna could feel her legs tremble. She could feel them all glare at her while she walked to the large door managing to keep her head up

The girl scoffed

"Don't tell me you're just going to let her talk to you like that." She asked Gina

"She's been gone for years." The guy added "and now she thinks we should answer to her just because she's some savior?"

"What are you going to do now Gina?"

Gina forced a smile as she watched Anna walked out of the warehouse.

"We'd see."
