75. Letting me at her
"We need to reduce the price for the vaccine by ten percent."
Angelo explained with his eyes focused on the rest of the board while his hands were pointed at the projector.
"That way, everyone would be able to afford it and we won't be at loss either."
"Angelo!"
Sam rushed in without thinking. The meeting had already started and with the way it looked, with the way everyone had their attention solely focused on Angelo, anyone could tell how serious it was, everyone except Sam. They turned to him, while he didn't care about the situation.
Angelo looked at him closely, Sam knew better than to barge in like that and cause such a ruckus, especially since it was a meeting he was supposed to be attending, he was ten minutes late. But he also knew Sam was not the kind to act out like that if it wasn't urgent.
"You need to come out right now man." He announced.
Angelo lowered his gaze at him,
"Sam," He gritted his teeth "I'm in a meeting" he widened his gaze and tilted his head towards the table to signal to Sam the obvious.
"Yeah, and I'm really sorry to cut it short, but it's Anna," Angelo twitched his brows, he didn't understand. What about Anna? "And Patricia."
Angelo swallowed hard and drew a deep breath. He didn't need Sam to say anything else, it was like understood instantly.
"I'm so sorry everyone, let's just take a break." He dropped his tiny pointer and hurried to the chair. He grabbed his blazer and went with Sam.
It was a long walk down the hallway, even longer while he tried to pick up his pace but Angelo had a lot on his mind, a lot to be worried about. He rushed right at the scene and it wasn't a nice one to witness. There was really a fight going on, and it looked pretty physical and bad. It was a big fight, a fight Anna wasn't losing. Angelo had never seen her so angry and careless to not bother about where she was, or the number of people watching and what they were going to think.
She had her eyes and mind only on one thing; giving Patricia the beating of her life. Patricia struggled to breathe right under Anna, while Anna clasped her hands around her neck, trying to strangle her and the security wasn't doing anything about it, no one was. half of the population were busy recording and gasping in surprise.
"Anna." He rushed to her as fast as he could, grabbing on tight to her waist. "Anna, let her go!"
He grabbed her and pulled her off Patricia as fast as he could.
"Let me go!" Anna yelled as she tried to free herself from Angelo's hold so she could get back to hitting Patricia. Sam rushed to Patricia as fast as he could, pulling her off gently from the ground while she coughed out loud, gasping for air
"I'm going to kill you!" Anna yelled as loud as she could while they watched Patricia try to catch her breath despite the scratch marks on her arm.
"Let go of me." She struggled to pull Angelo's hand off of her. She wanted him to drop her so bad but Angelo held on even tighter. He knew the woman he was married to, and he knew Patricia was defenseless against her. If he hadn't tried to stop her earlier, she would have done something that no one was ever going to forgive her for.
"She's so evil." He heard Patricia say as she turned to Sam. "She tried to kill me Sam." Sam exhaled
"Oh," Anna laughed. "Barely, and you're lucky, You're lucky he stopped me!" Anna yelled back
"She's so violent, so...ghetto. " she turned to Anna "you're a monster."
Anna scoffed, she couldn't believe it, she couldn't believe what she was listening too and she was just as upset as she was before but she stopped struggling to let go from Rafael's hold, yelling from there was just fine.
"Oh you have no idea how ghetto I can get. One more word and I swear to God-"
"Just stop talking okay?" Angelo yelled at Patricia. He just needed this whole thing to be done and over with. It was getting a lot of attention already and the situation was embarrassing to see. Patricia frowned and then kept rubbing her neck, she watched how Angelo turned Anna around so he could back the scene, stopping her from looking at Patricia. She had her hair all over her face
"Stop trying to protect her Angelo." She told him, in a somewhat whisper.
"Anna, I'm going to let you go right now, so we can talk about this, but I don't need you fighting her after I do."
"What?" Anna asked him
"Please,"
"Why? She started it! It was her Angelo." Anna said trying to stop herself from going crazy again "she gave those tapes to the NSS. All those things they did to me, it was her, it was all because of her and she isn't the least remorseful about it."
Angelo stared at her for a while. He exhaled.
"I know Anna,"
Anna froze.
She didn't understand, she looked at him for a moment wondering if she heard him right. Is it true? Did he really know it was Patricia behind what they both went through? How was she just hearing about it? Why wasn't he letting her revenge for what happened? Why was he stopping her if he knew. She frowned, but it didn't hide the look of the disbelief on her face. Her eyes became clouded with tears.
"Y-you knew ?" She couldn't believe it. She was so shocked, Angelo exhaled,
"But this isn't the place, or way to settle this." Angelo said
She couldn't believe it. Angelo could see how hurt she was all over again. He exhaled and slowly reached for her arm
"Let's talk about this at home"
"Don't touch me!"
She slapped his arm away as a drop of tear rolled from her face. She looked around slowly, for the first time, she noticed how concentrated everyone in the room was on what was going on. They had everything on camera, but most importantly, she was so confused and embarrassed that no one was saying anything or taking her side.
Of course no one would. Everyone had just caught her on yet another tape trying to hurt Patricia. To them, it was just another story of an Atian causing physical harm to a human. She scoffed.
"Anna." She slowly turned back to Angelo, she stretched a hand to stop him. "Don't ." She stopped him before he said anything else.
"I just can't, I can't right now." She told him and turned right after and started to walk away as fast as she could till she was running towards the elevator.
Angelo exhaled. He didn't go after her. He knew she needed her space, besides there were other things to take care off.
Click!
He heard the sound of a camera. He turned to the crowd, frustrated at the thought that someone still cared to record after what had happened.
"Who did that?" He asked them. He could see how quiet everyone had gone. Everyone shook in fright, no one stepped forward but Angelo knew, he looked at the men right in front of him.
"You." He pointed at the geeky guy in glasses and curly hair, standing in front of him with a lot of excitement in his eyes
"Let me have your phone please." Angelo stretched his hand towards him. He watched how the younger man frowned when he saw how Angelo's gaze was on him and looked around like he was trying to be sure he was the one being referred to. It didn't look like Angelo was talking about anyone else. He started to walk slowly towards Angelo.
"I'm really sorry sir." He stretched his phone with his shaky hands to him. Angelo forced a smile and nodded his head, he reached for it slowly and a frown replaced the smile on his face. Angelo threw it on the ground. He stepped on it, then again and again till there was nothing left of the screen and then the entire phone. Everyone gasped .
He placed his hands on his hips and took a deep breath. That was good, it was relieving, he needed to calm his nerves. He turned to the rest of the crowd
"And that goes to everyone of you." he pointed at all of them. "The moment what just happened here gets out of this building, I don't care who it is, you'd be loosing your job, do you understand me?"
No one responded. It was frustrating, why wasn't anyone responding? He shut his eyes
"I asked a question!"
"Yes sir" they all chorused simultaneously.
"Do you understand me!" Angelo raised his voice again so they could all hear him.
"Yes sir." They chorused even louder. That was good, that was all me needed. "Get back to your jobs now!"
He ordered and they all fled before Angelo said anything else. He turned to the security men
"Angelo-" Patricia tried to call him but he looked away, walking straight to the men.
"How did she get in here?" He asked them
"Sir-"
He furrowed his brows,
"Do you know what? I don't care. What I really care about is how you both just stood here and watched this happen." He asked them
He could see how embarrassed the men were. They exhaled
"Can't talk?"
"We tried to apprehend the situation sir but the chairwoman, she was so strong-"
"What?" He couldn't believe what he was listening to. We're they serious? Two men against one woman and they both couldn't stop her. The men had just realized how embarrassing what they said was.
"We are really sorry sir-" they both bowed their heads in shame.
"No you're not." Angelo didn't buy it. He couldn't stand it. "Gather the rest of you, you're all fired!"
"Angelo," Sam called his attention.
"Get out of my sight." He ordered them.
"Angelo," Patricia walked towards him as the men obeyed "you can't just fire them when it was obvious that they did their jobs right. It was Anna, she was the one at fault."
Angelo turned to her and glared at her
"She attacked me first, like an animal."
He raised a brow to her.
"I don't want to see you here by the time I'm back," he said and turned to leave and then stopped. He turned back to her.
"Scratch that," he said. "I don't want to ever see you at my company, or anywhere near me ever again."
Patricia held her breath. She couldn't believe it, she scoffed, did he just say that to her
"Angelo," Sam called him, he understood Angelo's decision but he was having a hard time accepting it too. "come on man."
"I mean it." Angelo told her "get out before I have to ask my security, or whatever is left of it, to throw you out myself."
He told her, he wasn't going to wait for a response from her, he didn't care to get an explanation either. He turned and then walked away.
Patricia sniffed. She had a lot of tears in her eyes. That didn't go the way she had expected at all.
"Hey," Sam called her "Are you okay-"
He tried to hold her. Patricia was so hurt, and extremely embarrassed too. She pulled her hand away from him. She wiped her eyes quickly and turned to the ground.
She picked her bag from the ground quickly and stormed out.
