Chapter 8
' Sparks Of Revenge '
Viraj
"I heard you failed,terribly!"
"Yes."
My phone vibrated from my father's maniac laugh. I shut my eyes and slammed my hands on the desk.
"The table did nothing wrong. Besides, it's your incompetence that has led you to failure."
He sneered without an ounce of sympathy or anything related to emotions besides pure mockery. I should be familiar by now but I can't ignore his ruthless words.
He always speaks at the worst time.
"I will do everything to make that property mine. Bear it in mind." I seethed out with flaring nostrils and clenched fist. The sarcasm and a hint of taunt in his voice always brings out the worst in me.
"I see. Then ask John for the papers." I shot my eyebrows at his words, nevertheless gestured at John. He had a file in his hand that I failed to notice earlier. I took it from him and carefully read the papers, while he spoke.
"Those are my terms and conditions. You must sign it to proceed with your position as CEO otherwise..." He took a brief pause and added dramatically. "Your failure will be discussed in the board meeting and I hope you know it's all pre-decided."
I went through the papers, there was one condition that caught my eyes. Marriage!
"I will not get married." I announced, raging at his stupid motive.
"You have no choice. Either get married and handle the business or lose everything."
"This is no time to get married. What are you even planning to do?."
"Don't worry about it. This is the most perfect time, honestly." He said with a hint of sincerity, but I can't trust him. "Trust me son, we both will get huge benefits from your marriage."
Oh!
I got it, he probably fixed my marriage with someone powerful, or high status. He's Raghuveer Malhotra, ain't no way he will not look for profit.
"I have fixed a meeting, I will expect your arrival on time. Remember not to tarnish my reputation." He spoke with no room left to argue.
The line got cut and I threw the phone across the wall. I grabbed my hair and yelled out loud with my lungs. I had enough, why can't he let me live peacefully.
Why I had to be his freaking toy!
All this because of that woman. I swear in my life she won't be able to live peacefully either.
I rushed out of my office and went straight down towards my car. Without wasting any more time I climbed inside and drove off.
I broke all the traffic rules, zoomed past many cars and finally reached my home.
When I walked inside, my father was already sitting at the couch, already forecasting my presence.
"How did you know?"
He looked taken aback but grinned at me with pure mockery.
"I can't tell you!" He shrugged as he watched me with hawk eyes.
"How did you magically know I was gonna fail? How did John appear with your papers beforehand?"
"I might say, my son is not stupid. He's a genius but not more than me." He snickered and gestured towards my mom who gave him a file.
He threw it towards me, I caught it perfectly and looked through it.
"You see, I had to watch your every move. You should be thankful I predicted everything perfectly."
The file contained all of the information of every person I talked with. Including Nia and Raj Bhansali.
He's a snake! A snake that grabs the enemy slowly and steadily without grabbing any attention until it's too late and dies by suffocation.
If he can suffocate why waste the precious poison?
"So, sign it and hand it over, like a nice son."
" I won't!" I stood to my ground, challenging him. He tilted his head with a smirk.
"I knew you would rebel. Well, if you won't then I would be left with no choice but to kick you out from my property." He said proudly.
I was about to utter the words that I so wanted to spit on his face. But then he beat me and further added. "Your mother will be sad and depressed and worried about you. And who knows what happens to a sad, depressed mother. Maybe she will kill herself worrying over you or worse-"
"FINE!" I yelled loudly, and glared at him with bloodshot eyes, I was shaking from anger or fear, I couldn't tell. All I know is, this man infront of me should not be trusted." Fine, I will sign it."
"Then do." He gestured towards the file I was holding in my hand. I took out the pen and sealed my fate.
He once again proved to me I was his mere puppet! I threw the file towards him and walked out of the house. If I stand any more I would probably die from suffocation.
I got a devil for my father!
~•~
The following morning I was seated at the back seat while John was driving me to somewhere my father had asked him.
I didn't even look at myself, I merely got into whatever I got in my hands. The luxurious life I was living wasn't even mine from the beginning. For my mother's sake, I kept bearing all of my father's sick games.
Soon, the car ride came to halt but I refused to get down.
"Sir, please hurry up or you'll get late."
"Let it be. I don't care." I shrugged it off, John didn't utter a word. One thing kept bugging me all night, how my father traced all of my activities.
Is John behind it?
"John... convince me to not fire you." His eyes widened and face paled, as he glanced at me through the rearview mirror.
"If you're doubting me as a traitor, I assure you even my activities were traced by your father."
I didn't even glance at him, I looked out towards the tall and luxurious seven star restaurant, all the employees waiting for me.
"Mr.Raghuveer, accused me of stealing data on behalf of him so he forbade me from going anywhere near his office." He said and longed for my response but I didn't spared a glance. He sighed out in defeat and fell silent, not trying to convince me anymore.
"Then who's behind it? Whoever it is, they aren't any random stranger but someone close."
"Should I look after it?"
"If you can. Go for it."
John cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Then, Am I safe?"
I gave him a curt nod, and boy he let out a huge sigh of relief as if he hadn't breathed until now. The relief that spread throughout his entire face made me realise he can't be behind it. He won't take risk at all.
I clicked my tongue, frustrated at the never ending secrets and mysteries.
Not finding an end to a certain cause does make everyone frustrated.
"Sir, you should abide by your father's order. I think he will be pissed off by now."
"You think so!"
My phone started ringing in my pocket, I rolled my eyes and sighed out loud. I didn't even pick it up, just let it keep ringing.
"I am sure you'll not regret this meeting, sir" John said in the meantime with a hint of amusement.
I raised both of my eyebrows at him, but he didn't utter a word. I finally picked up the ringing phone too bothered by the noise.
"Coming." I cut the call and got out of the car, finally. All off the employees heaved a huge breath of relief, before a manager joined me.
"This way please sir." The manager accompanied me.
I nodded and kept walking where he showed.
When we reached a private room, he knocked twice and opened the doors. I didn't glance at anyone and silently took my seat beside my father.
My father cleared his throat but didn't say otherwise. They had already placed their order, so I was the only left. A lady came holding a menu. I took my sweet time reading all of the items at my leisure pace.
"I will have an Espresso, that's all."
My father erupted a hearty laughter out of nowhere, that sounded evil to my ear.
"Son, meet Mr. Devraj Arora and their family."
My ears perked up at the name.
Arora!
No way! Instantly my eyes shift to the figures sitting in front of me.
And without any doubt a petite figure sitting all dolled up in front of me was none other than
Miss Nia Arora.
A devilish smirk appeared without my knowledge. My mind was repeating only one word.
Revenge!
