When Elara and Joseph Flynn welcomed their first and only daughter to the world it was a special kind of celebration for their small family. Taylor Flynn grew up in a kind, loving household knowing that not everyone on the Ark was granted that luxury.

Even though she did not live in the wealthiest of homes or the most revered station on the Ark, her childhood was happy. Factory Station wasn't a bad place for her to be and she enjoyed living there as much as someone could.

    At the age of eight she had been wandering the halls out of boredom and ran into a girl slightly younger than herself. She greeted the girl happily, who seemed like she was having the time of her life despite it just being another hall.

    Only minutes later did another person come into view, a boy slightly older was dashing down the halls breathlessly in search of something. When he finally laid eyes on the girls, who were now playing with each other right in the middle of the hall, he panicked.

     Quickly he approached the stranger and told her it was time to go home. Taylor bade goodbye to the girl, not even knowing her name or the boy who had come to fetch her.

     Months passed and Elara and Joseph wished for another child, knowing they couldn't have one due to the Ark's strict laws. They wanted to welcome more children into the world and go through raising and caring for a child like they had before.

     One day when Taylor had been coloring with a single scrappy pencil that her father had managed to buy for her, someone knocked at the door. Her father answered to find a woman standing there with an edgy look plastered on her face.

     She asked if a little girl was there to which her father replied yes. Thus ensued a conversation about whom the little girl had been playing with months earlier. Taylor was hiding behind her father's legs, staring at the woman in curiosity.

     Taylor had mentioned the fact that she had met a 'brother and sister' in the hall but her parents didn't believe her as none existed on the Ark. But she insisted that the boy had said they were going home, presumably a shared one, and that the girl had called him 'big brother'.

     When her father mentioned this to the woman she froze up slightly and her father suddenly invited her in. Taylor was only staring at the woman blankly from the other room as she broke down and confessed to the man.

     Once the woman left she overhead a conversation between her parents in which her father told her mother that someone he barely knew from his work was in need of help.

    A few times a week her father would leave for a period of time with things like leftover rations, bits of clothing materials, and anything that they could salvage without it being noticeable that it was being used for something else.

    Soon enough her father started going everyday and asked Taylor if she would like to come along. He and the woman, Aurora, decided that it would be okay if she came along.

Finally finding out the secret of the Blake siblings, she vowed to protect it and help their family as much as she could. The rest of her childhood and teenage years were spent with them; the Blakes were her second family. During this time she met a boy named Graham, one who she felt understood her more than anyone save for the two siblings.

The two began dating but the relationship soon ended with Graham's death. Shortly after she turned eighteen, he started to steal things to help support both his family and hers. She had no idea where he was getting these expensive objects from to sell, but wasn't too suspicious of him. He was caught almost immediately after, and being over eighteen by just one year, was floated for the crime.

    Only a year later was when Octavia was discovered during a masquerade dance, the whole thing having been Bellamy and Taylor's idea to go to. Aurora was floated for having a second child and as was Joseph for aiding and abetting in the crime. All of the young adults in the case were overlooked and simply given smaller punishments.

Elara was safe from the law as a result of Taylor's dealings with a corrupt councilman. This also granted Taylor and Bellamy reduced punishments. Octavia was locked in the Skybox, Bellamy was demoted from a guard in training to a janitor, and Taylor was demoted from a mechanic in training to a janitor as well.
