Chapter 7

Right after Nessa left Arvo looked at me confused. We had never heard that part of the curse before. Taking his hand off his sword her walks my way and looks from me to the men.

"We could not ask her to if that is true, she is young and has a full life ahead of her." Arvo states with a sigh as he runs his hand through his hair.

"I never heard that part of the curse, how do we know the woman was not lying or even crazy for that reason." I tell him frustrated that it could even be a possibility.

Arvo sighs and sits down on the floor as the men go about and do whatever they do at night time. This was something I knew my men wanted, to be alive again or to die either was better than watching time pass every day slower than the last.

"I never thought we would end up like this, neither did your father when he sent me with you on what we didn't know would be our last battle and sunrise." Arvo says and he motions for me to sit beside him. "Could you truly force that woman to give up the sun for you?"

No, that was the one answer that came to my mind. Knowing he was right I sat down beside him and looked down at the polished marble floor. No matter what I tried to do to think of a way out of this I wouldn't be willing to turn Nessa into what we were.

"I didn't think so, you just met her but the minute you saw her in clothes like what a bride from our time would have worn she had your heart. Now something tells me though you want to win her heart as well, turning her into one of us would not be the way to start my friend. Follow her if you must but be back before dawn." Arvo said standing up. "Trust an old man when he says the gods favor you in love only once."

Looking out the window I knew the sun had a long time until it would rise again. Knowing already where the people who worked here lived I decided it would be time to pay Nessa a visit and tell her there was no way I would ever let her trade herself for us. Standing up I am stopped by one of the men though as he hands me a pile of clothing.

"Different clothes for a different time my lord." Basch tells me with a grin as he walks off.

Looking down at the clothes I can see there is a dress shirt that is white, grey pants and a grey suit coat. Either way once I was in these I would look like any other person from this time. Changing quickly I do manage to see someone from the museum on the streets. He was clearly intoxicated and had two women at his side. Going to the apartment I was about to step in but the door had locked just as Smithers came up.

"Oh you must be the other American working in the Ancient Rome section right? No passcode yet either huh? No worries I'll let ya in." Smithers says typing in his code and allowing us access inside. "Fourth floor mate, John has number one and the girls uh Nessa has apartment two so you're stuck with three. Night."

With that Smithers disappeared. Weird man he was. Still I took the strange contraption to the fourth floor and went to a door the with number two written on it and before I had a chance to knock Nessa opened the door and looked me right in the eyes completely shocked to see me.

"Hercleth?" Nessa said as she looked at me.
