Chapter Three
(Time skip--- a few thousands million years [I don't remember which] later)
(Third Person)
The girl ran through the forest with her sisters, hunting for dinner.
They ran silently through the forest and they saw their prey. The girl pulled back on the string and let it go, the arrow impaling the animal through the heart.
The girl quietly went up to it. She carried it back to their camp and they started cooking it after cleaning it.
Half way through making the meal, there was a bright flash, and everyone looked away. When they looked back, a boy with raven black hair and sea green eyes was standing there. His clothes were in rags, he looked very weary and tired and he had many scars.
He looked around and saw everyone staring at him.
The girl from earlier, Zoë Nightshade, gasped when she saw him. The man wipped his head around to look at the noise and saw her.
The boy smiled, turning his tired, weary, pained face into a happy one.
Then he looked straight at Artemis and spoke, "My niece, please help me," before falling forward unconscious.
Everyone stared.
Zoë was the first one to move. She hesitantly moved forward.
"Wait, Zoë!" Artemis said. She was walking towards the boy.
"Help him," Zoë demanded quietly, still staring at the boy.
"B-but Zoë," one of the hunters said, "he's male."
"Yes, I know," Zoë said, never taking his eyes off the boy. "I said to help the man."
The hunter muttered something under her breath.
Artemus walked up to the boy.
She took a look at the wounds.
"I cannot heal these wounds," she said. "Maybe my brother can. Though I admit, I don't want to bring him here. . ."
"Just do it!" Zoë shouted. Everyone looked at her, but she didn't seem to notice.
"Apollo!" Artemis shouted.
There was a flash, and Apollo stood there.
He looked around.
"What do you need, sis?" He asked.
"Don't call me sis!" Artemis shouted.
"Stop arguing!" Zoë shouted, looking away from the boy to glare at the pair.
Everyone looked shocked and rather scared.
"Can someone just heal him already?" She asked, pointing to the boy.
Apollo gave Artemis a questioning glance, and she just shrugged.
Zoë glared at Apollo, making him flinch.
Apollo ran to the boy and flashed away as fast as he could.
Zoë stalked off into her tent and slammed the door.
(A\N tents with doors XD)
She sat in a chair facing away from the door and sighed. She put her head on the table and felt silent tears make their way down her cheeks. She couldn't stop thinking about the boy's big scars and tattered clothes.
"I did this to him," she muttered. "I made this happen to Percy."
(Time skip--- a few minutes later)
Zoë had managed to stop crying, but she still felt miserable.
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in," she said.
Artemis opened the door slowly.
"Are you okay?" She asked gently. "What happened. You're acting weird. Are you in love with him or something?"
Zoë didn't meet her eyes. She just put her face on the table and gave a muffled reply.
"Sorry, I didn't quite hear that." Artemis came over and sat across from her.
"Yes," Zoë mumbled, head still on the table.
"I won't kill you for breaking your oath," Artemis said gently. "You've been the best hunter I could ask for."
"No I haven't," Zoë mumbled. She looked up at Artemis miserably. "And that man--- he was the best man ever."
"What are you talking about?" Artemis asked.
"I-I betrayed him for Heracles," Zoë said. "It wasn't just my sisters I betrayed, but that man was killed by Heracles because of what I did."
Artemis looked beyond confused. "Who is he?"
"Only the best, most loyal man ever," Zoë said, putting her face back on the table.
"Oh, it's not thou fault," (old language?) said a voice from behind them.
They turned around, startled. They saw the boy that they were just talking about leaning on the wall of the tent with his arms crossed.
"I told thee not to blame yourself, Zoë," the boy said. "You know, before I 'died'." He put quotes around "died."
"Who are you though?" Artemis asked.
"Oh, right, I haven't introduced myself," the boy said. "I rather hate this part. Anyway, I am Perseus Jackson, god of storms, lies, truth, loyalty, the betrayed, insanity, love, secrets, guardian of the Hesperides, and a bunch of other stuff I don't feel like mentioning, and thou can call me Percy, Uncle, or really anything like that."
"Uncle. . . ?" Artemis asked. "Are you Poseidon in disguise or something?"
Percy wrinkled his nose. "Why does everyone think I'm related to Poseidon? First, Heracles thought I was his son, and now thou too? No, I'm just that unknown god. But whatever. It's better off that way."
"Then what do you mean, 'uncle'?" Artemis asked, confused.
I'm just the eldest god." Percy rolled his eyes. "Hestia's twin brother. Wanted to keep a low profile, so I just made myself unknown to anyone other than my brothers and sisters. Gave the credit to other people, or made myself some mystery person no one knows about. Made a new life with the Hesperides. It was nice while it lasted, but nothing lasts forever. Anyone with enough experience knows that. I have went through many changes.
"Anyway, my step-grandfather had a way to block my powers, so I couldn't get out. I finally managed to practically climb out. I'm glad Apollo managed to heal me. I almost died again from losing to much ichor."
Zoë walked slowly over to Percy.
"Are thou really here?" She whispered.
The boy smiled slightly.
"Yes I am, Zoë."
Zoë ran up to him and through her arms around him. Percy held her gently as Zoë cried into his chest.
So, of course, that's when Phoebe had to barge in.
