Pits

Silence fell over the crowds of people as they processed their queens words. Everyone was well aware of the legends of Mg— but to see this person who identified as a god in the flesh was foreign to them.

"My existence is absolute serenity." The woman known as Mg croaked through her cracked lips. Although the woman looked like she'd seen better days, her eyes — they no longer were as piercing— though they still held a promise of power within her irises.

"Yes, I'm sure if I kill you Thora will send you back." Serenity said as she took slow steps toward the woman. The audience gathered watched in silence as they took in the situation.

"It's your move, what will you do Serenity?" Mg asked tauntingly. Serenity tilted her head as she studied the woman with a smirk, perhaps reveling in her barbaric appearance.

"I'll leave the decision to the one you've wronged." Serenity said raising her chin as she looked to her lover in expectation. Amanthy swallowed the lump in her throat as she took a step forward. It had been so long since such a decision rested on her shoulders.

"What is really wrong Serenity? What's so wrong about wanting to prevent chaos?" The woman asked looking up at the two women who held all power here.

"You think too narrowly, what's to say chaos is the only result to our plan? There can be order Mg— we will show you." Serenity replied.

"Who's we? You and your mate, or perhaps you and my sister?" Mg inquired as her voice laced with sarcasm. Amanthy couldn't help but admit to herself that her words bothered her. She'd heard stories of Thora growing up in ancient Egypt but she'd never been sure if she was in fact real. The real question she asked herself was why were she and Serenity communicating without her knowledge?

"I'll make things clear here and now. The three of us will change the world, whether my mate sees our goal clearly now or not — we will move forward."

Rumors of Serenity's plan to reveal their existence bounced off the walls of the palace as its citizens gossiped— although they don't know whether it was false information or not. As everyone took in their queens words and actions it all but seemingly confirmed what had simply been a rumor.

"You're going to upset the balance that's been maintained for thousands of years, do you truly want to play a losing game with fate?" Mg replied. Serenity studied the woman as she analyzed her words.

"There is no balance, there never has been. Look around you," Serenity began as she directed her attention to not only mg, but to the countless spectators who watched on.

"From the beginning— no matter how much order mankind has tried to maintain— it all somehow ends up crumbling over time as chaos tries to break through time and time again,"

Serenity paused as her gaze met the muddy brown irises of mg. "No matter what we do, or where we go there will always be death, assault, murder, or to put it bluntly chaos. So what if I upset this precious balance of yours? humans must survive just as we must survive and the way I see it is we're running out of time."

"No ones running out of time Serenity, your making excuses for being a tyrant." Mg said with a raise of her chin.

Amanthy stood in complete silence beside her lover as she considered their options carefully. If she had to choose, she would keep things the way they are in a heartbeat but something deep inside her wants to believe Serenity is making the right decision to move forward with this, as the other part wholeheartedly agreed with mg.

"We're reproducing rapidly, it's only a matter of time before our population problem becomes an even bigger threat. How will we hunt discreetly if our population nearly makes up a quarter of theirs? Sure plenty of us can roam the earth just like the rest, but how long until one of our younger generations slips up? We'll simply be in the exact same situation we are now except a whole lot more chaotic and messy. Revealing our true nature is inevitable, that's what you need to get through your head mg."

Her words hung heavy in the air as the room was filled with silence once more. Serenity smirked as she could practically feel the energy shifting in her favor.

Amanthy studied Serenity's expression. She couldn't determine what the solution was. Her mind raced with alternatives that wouldn't result in complete exposure— but Amanthy found that there wasn't one. No matter how she switched it around, whether it was one year from now or a hundred— were doomed to overpopulate to the point of involuntary exposure.

Mg let out a long sigh in defeat as she hung her head momentarily. The woman seemed to have a moment as she seemed to recollect herself and raised her head to gaze into emerald green irises.

"So what will it be Amanthy?" Mg asked monotonously.

"Take her to the pits, and we'll go from there," Amanthy said after a beat. The pits were known to all supernaturals, it's the only place where they were permitted to fight each other without consequence. Since the start of Serenity's rule, the pits have expanded drastically as more supernaturals turned to release their rage on each other in a battle that was supervised and organized.

"Good choice, just make sure she doesn't die, I don't want to go through the trouble of looking for her once she crawls out the mud again." Serenity advised as her men began to drag the woman away, fulfilling Amanthy's request.

Everyone watched on as the woman who was known as a goddess dragged away pathetically as her human limbs struggled to keep up with their pace.

"Does anyone have any questions or concerns?" Serenity asked as the corners of her lips lifted into a smile. Her question was unsettling considering everyone was concerned— unfortunately no one could find good reason to object.

"When will your plan take action?" A man spoke from the crowd as he addressed his queen.

"I've already begun. So far the humans think I'm joking although I seem to have garnered a lot of attention. I will continue to post on social media apps until I'm given the platform I need to properly demonstrate what we are."

The man nodded at her reply. Serenity looked around as she patiently waited for someone else to speak up.

"What do you plan to do once we are known to humans?" A woman was bold enough to speak as she took a step forward.

"I plan to integrate supernaturals into society whether that takes months or years. The goal is to live amongst humans unproblematically." Serenity replied.

The silence grew once more, and when Serenity got no more questions she spoke again.

"My goal is not to jeopardize my people or what we've built, I just want us to have the chance to expand and strive the same way the humans have. They were born into this world with the right to every fruit and matter that grows into it— but so do we. We walk this earth for a reason, why hide in our own homes? why do we have to sacrifice so much just to save them the trouble? I say to hell with their peace if that's what it takes." Serenity practically sneered as she spoke with firmness and a sense of leadership that no one in the room could question.

No rebuttals we're offered following her statement, with that said she ended it there.

"Clear the room." She said firmly. The room began to dissipate as everyone began to follow her command, leaving Serenity and Amanthy alone.

"Have you seen Amara?" Serenity asked her lover the moment the door shut.

"Not since we reconnected after my return, don't worry though, Amara likes to prepare when change is upon us." Amanthy spoke as she remembered all the times her best friend disappeared for either days or years at a time, but one thing she could say is that she always came back.

"She disappeared for five months about two years ago, I still don't know where it is she went." Serenity replied with a shrug as she fully faced her mate and effectively closing the gap between them as she pulled her closer.

"Do you really think this will work out Serenity?" Amanthy asked for reassurance. She couldn't believe something this big was in motion. It could either go horribly wrong or take a turn for the best, either way she would just have to take those chances.

"I know it will, love. You said you trust me right?" Serenity asked

"With my life."

"Then just watch me work my magic."

"I'll leave it in your hands, just promise me we won't kill all the humans if they don't take the news well?"

"I'll try not to kill all of them." Serenity said jokingly although there was a small truth to her words.

"I'll take that answer." Amanthy said with a shrug as she leaned in to briefly capture her girls lips with her own.

Their mouths danced to a beat only they knew until they they were left breathless and slightly flushed.

"But I do need to ask you something and I need nothing but the truth," Serenity nodded in confirmation as Amanthy gripped her lovers chin with slight firmness.

"Who the hell is Thora?"
