The only thing going through my mind right now was he better have a good idea. I dressed in the disguise he brought me. It was a simple brow dress with a brown caped hood. Just as I was about to walk out to Tak he walked inside and looked me up and down. Raising my eye brow and crossing my arms as he approached me it shocked me when he took my hood off and quickly removed my wig. My red hair came down from it's prison.
"Tak! What in the world do you think you are doing?" I say as I turn to pick up the wig.
"Stop! Don't you think she will recognize the royal wig of a Princess?" He questions me as he grabs my hand and pulls me close to him. "Your true hair can be seen for once Princess."
Looking into his eyes I can something inside of them that I hadn't seen before. A deep sort of fire that at first scared me but quickly fear became intrigue. My head was spinning as we gazed into one another's eyes. Tak was only two years older than me and never in my whole life had he ever looked at me as he did now. Though he addressed me by my title I knew it meant something different now. Realizing how close we were he pulled my hood up almost to cover my eyes.
"Come, we're wasting time." he tells me as he turns and pulls me to follow him out the door.
We stay hidden as we make our way almost to the far end of the Kingdom. Once we arrive at a small hut Tak pulls me close to him as we enter the dwelling. Not sure of what to expect of what to do I decide for once to follow his lead. Going past a beaded curtain there sat a woman at a table a veil covering her face as she was looking down at the cards on the table.
"Welcome to my home. What is it I can help you with?" the woman asks without even looking up at us.
"I need proof the child my wife carries is mine." Tak asks angrly.
What?! I'm suppose to be his wife and with child! Of course he didn't tell me any detail because I would have slapped him and walked away! Looking at Tak he can even see the anger in my eyes but he just smiles at me. What a jerk! Just wait till we get out of here I will slap him as hard as I can. At the end of my last thought the woman looks up and stares right at me.
"This is your wife?" the woman says standing up and walking around me. "A bit thin to be with child. We can consult the gods if you wish."
Tak nods and sits down in a seat without being offered. Rolling my eyes I sit beside him. The woman sits down before us and starts to sort her cards. I can feel Tak's leg close to mine. Well since he did call me a cheating whore I decide to stomp on his foot. Doing that he holds in a yell as he glares at me but all I do is smile at him with pure innocence. The woman looks at us just for a moment and then goes to her cards. Turning them over one by one she gets to the end and looks at us.
"Your wife if a loyal woman and has never taken another lover. According to the gods you have been destined to be together since birth. Princess Neferure and Lord Tak." The woman says with a grin. "I must say trying to come here and test my powers was clever but I see no reason why."
"Merely heard rumors of you at the palace." Tak answers as he stands pulling me up with him.
"I do not lie, you two were betrothed at a young age but after you took a liking to the other cousin it may have been dissolved. So sad since you two would be very good together and give many great heirs." the woman says standing up. "If you are looking for Ahset's murdered I would look to your uncle's right hand man Princess. He is responsible for most of the death at the palace."
Tak grabs me and shoves me out of the dwelling. What did she mean? My uncle's right hand man that was Neaut. He was hardly around though he preferred to be off at battle. Whenever he could find on that is. Tak and I quickly returned back to the palace but were caught in the marketplace. My uncle was making an announcement that we knew nothing about.
"Egypt! Hear your King!" Uncle called out and got everyone's attention. "You have two princesses left and they will uphold our kingdom. Nelia and Neferure are the future or Egypt as well as my son Akt. You have nothing to fear for our future is secure."
What in the world was he talking about? Who thought that the future of our country was not secure? I didn't understand and apparently neither did Tak as he looked just as confused as I was. Then an idea came to my head. Tak said that the creature acted just like Ahset for a long time. Did that mean it could act like anyone...even my uncle?
"Tak...what if that isn't my uncle?" I say and he looks at me as he just realized what I was thinking.
"Then we are in a lot of trouble." he says as he grabs my hand and pulls me into a secret passage and right into the palace.
Once in the throne room I see my uncle talking to Nelia. She looks absolutely scared out of her mind. Then again sometimes my uncle did have that affect of people but not his own daughter. Walking forward them noticed us and Nelia even started to jog my way just to get away from him. That just made things even more curious.
"Ah Neferure, Tak thank goodness. You wedding will take place after Nelia's." he states plainly with no emotion at all.
Wedding?! Did those words really just come out of his mouth?!
