❦ Twenty Seven

At the Entrance of UA High School...

A flash of Orange

"Welcome, welcome, get them while their piping hot!"

A puff of air through its large snout

"I'll take three of those! N-No, make it five!"

A sway of its tapering tail

"Hurry, hurry-it's about to start!"

And the flutter of small wings.

"Mom, Over there! Over there!"

Underneath the cloudless bright sky, the Sports Festival in UA high school is finally opening their gates to visitors.

Blessed with a cloudless day, the blue sky was filled with flickers of colorful powder being shot to the sky like fireworks, the sounds of 'puff' and 'poof' exploding all around in festivity. People of all ages were already strolling around the school, excitedly chattering to each other about the upcoming events in anticipation.

Before UA's gate, the area was lined with a litter of reporters impatiently waiting to get through security check, hoping to get some good content through the festival as the schoolyard was filled with stalls of snacks and hero merch, ranging from the very renowned Number One Hero-to the ever-so reliable Thirteen as people walked along the sidewalk to where the main events were taking place, buzzing with vigor.

"With all the news of the Pokémon, it's great to get away from it all and focus on the Sports Festival. The third-year students have always been the main event with their experienced strategy and vigor. But this year, the first-year stage is gathering quite some attention after the USJ attack." A man pointed out, eyeing the guide map.

"Did you know that Endeavor's son is in the first year stage? I heard he got in through recommendation this year!" A woman inputted, eager and excited for what's to come.

"Seriously? Wow-but hey! You're seriously not interested in the Pokémon? Aren't they kind of interesting? They literally been crawling around the earth without anyone really knowing they existed! kind of makes me curious on what they look in the flesh y'know?" Another man had jeered, jokily pointing to the now grumbling male.

"Well yeah, but you wouldn't be interested if you hear about them constantly!"

"Never-mind that, let's focus on the Sports festival! Especially the first year stage, there definitely the main attraction this year!"

Mount Lady, the popular provocative hero, amusedly mused after listening to the conversation that just past her, watching the trio walk off in a hurry. She stuffed a piping hot Takoyaki into her mouth, chewing on it after humming contently.

Working today as a patrol lady, she lagged behind her two teammates, who were walking briskly with every intention of keeping a lookout. Not that she wasn't doing her job, for she was definitely grateful that she could wear her hero outfit as security as this gives her more chances to gain more publicity. All she needed to wear, as the official security for the Sports Festival, was a security tag swinging around her neck.

Though she enjoyed getting more publicity, she wasn't going to lie that her attention was getting drawn to the gossip circling around to school-she's easily distracted, so what? In the end, she couldn't resist eavesdropping on visitors as they dally around in jitters.

After the whole attack on the hero school, the whole of Japan seems to be in endless chatter, and not only of the attack itself but also of the unanticipated stir coming from certain critters. The people seemed unease with this new information thrown to their face, and that unease hadn't washed away even after it has been a few weeks already. The people had, to say the least, mixed feelings about the beasts that now was in the midst of overpopulating the country.

She didn't necessarily have any problems with the sudden news, but it was pretty strange that the government decided to publicize this right after the villain attack that took place in UA, seems like there's hidden connection there, but Mount Lady couldn't bother herself from thinking about it too much. However, ...

She chewed a bit more harshly-she hadn't gotten any exposure ever since! The whole of Japan-no, the whole world was buzzing about the critters that had finally been made known. In every news channel, every tabloid, every conversation-they were the main topics! Sure she was mildly interested in them as well as she herself was surprised in finding that they had existed under everyone's noses this whole darn time, but gosh- they didn't need to be on every darn channel!

The Pokémon, a word she thought begrudgingly had a nice ring to it, had actually never made an appearance at any of the major cities in Japan yet. The Hero Public Safety Commission and the Police were already preparing themselves for the Pokémon appearances and so were the heroes, who were told to be entirely prepared for the 'worst'. But ever since the announcement, it's been rather quiet, or to sum in up-uneventful. There were talks of them appearing on the outskirt of villages and small cities, but for the most part, the Pokémon were quite heedful creatures it seems. Perhaps that was one of the reasons they have been hidden so long.

Mount Lady stuffed another rounded fried octopus into her mouth detachedly, leaving the Takoyaki stick in her mouth a little to long.

'Creatures with powers huh? Not too surprising in this world....'

"Mom, Look there! Do you see it!?"

A young boy pulled his mother's long skirt, clutching it in his tiny hands as he awed, eyes wide to saucers, pointing a finger to the sky. His mother, waiting silently behind an Okonomiyaki stand, peered down curiously to see what the boy was pointing at, her head moving to follow the direction her son pointed to probably appease him. Mount Lady glanced at the duo, still chewing rather boredly, before glancing away after to find something a bit more interesting she could lay her eyes on.

"There, there, do you see it!" The child pointed, as the mother squinted at the sky, puzzled. Mount Lady yawned, too bad she was security this year, she would love to go scouting for some interns herself too.

"Right there! It's a dragon!" Mount lady's ears perked, as she halted. There was no way Ryuuko, the 9th hero in the JP hero billboard chart, would show up. Her eyes darted laxly to the sky, not exactly expecting anything too threatening as it was probably going to be something like a balloon, or maybe something eventful like someone illegally using their quirks. She craned her neck up, scanning the wide sky, not noticing anything particular at first. Ah! That is-

"Uwa! I see it!" The mother praised her son with light pats on the head, her eyes staring at the large-headed beast-a dragon. She stared head-on with a sprightly smile as the 'beast' floated up to the sky laggardly, strangely realistic to the size, as it swayed with the wind.

Mount Lady sighed. She had guessed right- it was just a Ryuuko balloon.

"T-That's not what I meant mom!" The boy faltered, crossing his arms with a pout. "I saw a real one!" The mother didn't seem bothered by her son's words, only patting him again with a chuckle escaping her unintentionally.

"Hey, Hurry it up, Mount Lady!" Her colleague, Death Arms, gestured ruggedly as Kamui Woods stared patiently next to said larger man. The two were already far ahead as they waited for the gigantification Hero, who was rooted in one spot. The blonde hero slumped and sighed through her nose, walking towards them slackly.

Though that earlier prospect wasn't threatening at all, she wondered if instead the said balloon was those powerful creatures taking over the media, what would she exactly do? Probably take care of it with one swoop, after all, they were heroes-what's the harm of animal's using quirk when they deal with human's deranged quirks? Though the civilians would be more under threat with the combination of villain and vicious animals, it should be no trouble for those who are already so in tune with their own powers like herself. She sighed again.

Just when will the Sports Festival begin already? Unbothered by Death Arms continuously berating to hurry, she unenergetically ate her snack. Her eyes darting to the side after a roll of her eyes, getting impatient as the time ticks.

Then her eyes caught something, as it whizzed behind the towering school building high above, rushing in a color of vibrant orange, as Mount Lady blinked lazily. It moved way too fast for her to see, so she's not quite sure what she just saw as her brows furrowed with a narrow.

What was that?

Meanwhile back at the 1-A waiting room

The air surrounding the break room was intense.

Your eyes stayed affixed to Todoroki's blizzard stare, a stony expression on him as he loomed you're your seating form. You sat perpetually unnerved, giving him a silent smile, while sitting incredibly still and civilly, making it seem like you weren't the person that retorted those words to him a few minutes ago.

But even so, for the number two hero's son, he couldn't help but notice how you seemed to be joshing at his form, as your observant eyes kept locked on his own, watching him for his moves wryly. Despite the fact that he towered over you, underneath your act you seemed to be vehemently doing the same, even sneering secretly. Yet at the front, you seemed unbothered by his earlier words and was cordially gleaming at him.

He watched the corner of your polite façade twitch for a moment, the corner of your lips twitching just a bit for only him to see as you dared yourself to release a small huff slyly. Your eyes narrowing in a blink, before it returned to a rather jovial gleam. That expression disappearing without a trace.

Was this how you really were? Todoroki's gaze turned colder.

Besides the intense stare-down you and the recommended student had, the rest of your classmates had stayed stock-still, uncomfortably glancing at each other in the quiet tense atmosphere. Mineta had to clamp his mouth shut as he shook in uncontrollable fear, while Midoriya watched the exchange with nerves and wide uncomfortable eyes. Kirishima was nervously looking back and forth between you and the ice-hot boy, unsure how to diffuse the tenseness as Bakugo side-stare grew harsher as the silence grows. And Iida-the class rep himself, for once was quiet, watching the exchange observantly.

"..."

"AH!" Iida's loud voice broke out everyone from their agitated trance as they all whipped their heads to the Class President in surprise, who was gawking at the watch in shock. "How could I be this distracted!"

You and Todoroki had slowly turned to stare at Iida too, both your earlier expression dimming down as you both looked away. Todoroki's cold stare vanished to aloofness while your expression had simmered to more of a curiosity than forced jolliness that made everyone heave a breath of relief, the tenseness dissipating a bit.

"We're going to be late. Let's go 1-A!" Iida quickly filed everyone out of the room, as everyone left a bit reluctantly as some sent unsure stares back at Todoroki, Midoriya and you. You stood up after, stuffing the remaining pieces of your breakfast into your mouth, watching as Todoroki was about to make his way towards the door without another word.

'Hmm...Nothing back to retort?' the corner of your mouth twitched almost amusedly again, though you made sure to hide it.

You were entertained, to put it mildly, at the sudden unpredictable events. You were just busy wallowing up in nerves about the Sports Festival when Pokeball man decided to pick a fight out of the blue. You bit the inside of your cheeks unsurely, still feeling particularly riled up after so.

Well, you supposed you said all you needed, no need to bother the almighty boy any longer-

"Now wait just a second ya bastard!" Meowth voice bellowed, as this stopped the male in question, who peered emotionlessly at Meowth, who had his hands on his hips haughtily.

You sighed-of course Meowth had to interfere.

Others, who hadn't quite left yet, discreetly listened in on the drama as the cat stood in front of you with a condescending smirk as he rested his hands on his hips, covering his mouth like he was whispering even though he was being super loud, "Wow-after being SO smug to insult US-you're gonna run off without a peep huh? Scared are ya? HAH!"

Midoriya, who had moved to stand next to you, quickly glanced at you for help like a fish out on water, gaping and closing his mouths with no words coming out as you just stared at the troublemaking Meowth without care, apathetic as could be. You guessed if Meowth needed to get something out of his chest, best to do so now as Meowth pointed a finger Todoroki's way jeeringly, mocking him.

"Listen here, you spineless hotshot twerp! You better stop talking smack cause we're going to wipe the floor off of you this Sports Festival!" Meowth looked more condescending with each word emitting from his, as he finished his sentence. "So don't even think 'bout runnin' to your Mommy and Daddy crying after you face an overwhelmin' defeat, you got that twerp!?"

The air went down a Celsius as Todoroki stared down at Meowth icily, as the cat now had spawned behind your legs, making faces at the male which made you roll your eyes. "If you were going to hide right after, then why bother commenting?" You whispered as the cat just hushed you back obnoxiously.

Todoroki's silence served to be his biggest strength in this kind of situation, as both you and Midoriya warily stood before the cold male. Iida was the only person waiting outside, still keeping entirely silent about the scuffle going on. You inwardly froze at his heterochromia eyes had stared at you for the longest time, unnerving you to the core before he finally blinked at the cat's direction impassively.

"I'll keep that in mind." With no emotion in his words, Todoroki finally made his exit.

Iida had gestured for you two to hurry it up as well, before walking towards the arena after Midoriya waved him off with an affirmative answer.

Midoriya heaved a heavy sigh after the male disappeared out the door with the rest of the class, leaving the two of you alone together. He tugged his neck collar, which coiled around his neck a bit too tightly due to the events, before discreetly glancing at you to see your stone expression. You didn't seem all too bothered after being seemingly called out like that earlier as your eyes were glued to the spot Todoroki just left.

"(Last)-?" The Meowth squeezed his way in the middle of the both of you, not bothering to notice Midoriya's lame attempts in starting a question, as the feline rolled his eyes, leaning on your side lazily.

"Jeez, what a robot...how ya holding up boss?" The feline perked at your silent form, watching you stay stock-still, face void of emotion. Both Meowth and Midoriya sent each other confused stares at your unresponsive form. "Um...boss?"

And then finally, you left a shuddering sigh, inflating like a balloon to your seat ever so slowly.

"Todoroki's cold. Really cold." You shivered, the only words you could muster as being in the same room as the recommended student was far too cold to be normal, even when he isn't using his quirk to begin with. It was like being in a blizzard in the middle of a mountain alone with no food and shelter as you strived for your last strength to survive but the cold continues to drape over you like a terrible blanket and you'll slowly freeze to death and-

"(l-Last)-san..." Midoriya skirted around you nervously, like a headless chicken as Meowth rolled his eyes, already expecting this. You puffed another breath out as if you hadn't been breathing an inch after the conversation.

"Seriously boss? Where'd all that bravado you had before go?!" He pointed out, remembering that mock smile you gave to Todoroki, a familiar expression the cat had gotten every once in a while.

"It died after being stuck in a snowstorm too long." You sighed tiredly, as the Meowth shook his head back and forth obnoxiously. 'Tsk Tsk' leaving his mouth, looking a little too proud after walking a step away. "Pretty boy ain't that scary." Says the one that hid behind your legs after firing back at said 'pretty boy'.

You chuckled to yourself, closing your eyes to calm down a bit after the tense mood, as you flattered the cat to get him off your case for a second. "Well, I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but your counter to Todoroki was a lot better than mine-it was like you spoke right through my mind."

The cat huffed, braggingly looking away with red-cheeks, and you knew his ego swelled before he attempted to clear his throat and proclaimed loudly. "Your counter was okay-you just need to put more emphasis on your insults!"

"But I wasn't insulting!" you laughed at the swollen-headed cat, who sent a knowing dubious stare, which made you chuckle a bit more. After stifling your laughter, you glance at Midoriya who stayed silent by your side, listening with a lot on his mind. Not surprising since he was also called out by the candy-cane.

"You know," Your voice brought Midoriya out of his stupor, peering at you questionably. "After what you said before-when Todoroki began saying all that stuff, I couldn't just keep my mouth shut." You sent him a smile. "You were cool you know?"

Midoriya nervously eyed left and right with red cheeks. "A-Ah, not as cool as you were (l-last)-san!" Midoriya was jumpy as he said, as your gaze glance at Meowth, who sent Midoriya a tired, bored stare, before glancing at the side.

"Though what I said seemed to be a bit of a spur in the moment thing, I meant every word..." You picked up the glass Ochaco had kindly offered earlier, taking a hefty gulp. Midoriya kept silent after, as you glanced at him again, "You feel the same right?"

"Huh?" Midoriya blurted, as you gave a side-long stare in amusement.

"You meant every single word you said right? To Todoroki earlier?" You explained, standing next to him. He nodded nimbly, as you locked your arm around his own, his absent-minded expression morphing into a surprised stare from your locked arms to your entertained look with a dithery expression. "Well then, we shouldn't let Pokeball man get the winning stage without a fight. Now let's go Midoriya, we're late!"

You pulled him forward as he stumbled forward, eyes skirting everywhere agitatedly as he called out at you alarmed, "(last)-san, slow down-and Pokeball man?" his head was inflating in red, as you giggled. He stuttered left and right, and at this point, you weren't too sure if he was forming actual words at all.

You halted in step though when you felt something off. You turned around to notice a certain feline skulking away to another direction before you called out to him. "Meowth, where are you going?" You questioned curiously as his hair rose with a screech of surprise.

The cat rounded around to face you innocently, hands behind him feigning as an angel, but sweating visibly as the feline stared at the red-in-the-face Midoriya and your narrowed eyes. "A-Ah nothing! I just need to go to the little cat's room y'know?" He evaded your unconvinced stare, taking steps to the side as if that will go unnoticed by you causing you to raise a brow.

"...Are you up to someth-," You glared at the cat, knowing that look from anywhere. But the cat was quick and bolted, rushing away to who knows exactly where.

"Anywho, I'll see you outside Boss-Knock em' dead till they won't be able to get up!" He cheered enthusiastically, turning a corridor with quick steps.

"Wait!" You held an arm as you watch him disappear in a speed you had never seen. You sweat-dropped, the cat sure could run when it wants too. You slipped your arm away from Midoriya's, as he stared at you in confusion, feeling a bit empty.

"What is it (Last)-san?" He gazed nervously, as you scratched the back of your neck with a grumble after the cat disappeared. You bit the inside of your cheek at the thought, before shaking your head.

"Ah-it's nothing Midoriya-san. It's just..." You drawled, eyes darting to the stadium before you gave a confident smile. "Don't think I'm going to go easy on you too Midoriya-cause after what Todoroki said, I'm gonna take that number one spot," You stated teasingly at the green-haired boy, whose eyes alit in surprise. He wasn't expecting you to say that, as you then looked away a bit, rubbing your side arm. "But you see, I'd like to see you give it your all too-just like what All Might said in the break room, so..."

Midoriya obviously had a lot to think about, as he swallowed down your words slowly. You stretched out a hand towards him heartily, waiting for him to take. "Are you ready Midoriya-kun?"

The One for all 9th user stared at your outstretched hand for the longest of time, his emotions getting the better of him causing him to nod firmly, puffing himself out widely with a confident vigorous 'yes!'. He took your hand and pulled you into the stadium after him spontaneously, filled with new adrenaline as you followed in awkward steps with wide eyes.

That's right-Midoriya wasn't going to lose, and he's going to prove his worth in this festival. With everyone going out this festival, he can't be bothered to going easy. He's going to show them-to All Might, to Todoroki, and to you too that he was going to win this thing.

~o~o~

The alarming buzzing of cheers echoed all around. You could hear the distinctive sound of chattering and the clicks of cameras just waiting in anticipation as you walked behind the rest of the class. The echo of your sports shoes hitting the ground with the rest sent your heart reeling anxiously as you and Midoriya shared nervous grins.

"Hey! Get ready audience! Come forward mass media!" The cheers chorused louder, as Present Mic's booming voice reached your ears. "It's the high school fighting ground you all love, Everybody, UA Sports Festival is about to start!"

You could see Uraraka willing herself to hold her head up high with pressed lips, as she held her two fists to where her heart laid, taking deep breaths. Next to her, Iida was standing stoutly, eyes set in front of him where the cheers resided.

"Are you ready?!" Another array of cheers appeared, louder than the last.

Ojiro had appeared to be smiling, excitement present from what you could tell, while Jiro's ear jacks were being tugged by her fingers from anticipation or nervousness, you weren't too sure. Your eyes met up with Tokoyami, the bird-headed boy staring at you with his usual reserved stare before he gave a small nod in encouragement, which you replied back earnestly.

"UA Sports Festival! The once-a-year battle where rookie heroes engage in a fierce competition to take the top. You all wanted to see these guys right?"

Momo and Tsuyu had blessed you with cute smiles once you caught their eyes, before your eyes unconsciously trail off to the back of the hot-headed male himself, Bakugo, who remained quiet and solitary yet confident. And though Todoroki himself was out of eye-shot for you, you could see the tip of his red-white schemed hair in the front rows.

"Although attacked by the enemy, they overcame it with hearts of steel. The marvelous new stars...!"

Present Mic seemed to be ecstatic to introducing your class, as you heaved a sigh, trying to steady the beating of your thundering heart.

"The hero course, Class 1-A!" Cheers erupted deafeningly as the class surrounded by darkness walked out to the wide stadium. You blinked at the sudden light, a familiar feeling when you come out of a cave after venturing in search of new Pokémon. You followed in steps of stride towards the light.

Somehow, you were expecting to see the vast greenery of trees once again after scavenging the caves filled with Pokémon and rocks. The light like a beacon, telling you to come forward as you stepped to a new world. It filled you with a tinge of nostalgia.

Greeted with bright sunlight in a circular coliseum, colossal as the name, which was covered with rows upon rows of people in eccentric clothing. The blue sky blessing the day with a great day, as your shoes landed on the trim grass plain, as the cheers reached an even higher octave. It was definitely a new world.

Oh dear.

As the gaggle of cheers and shouts enter your ears, everyone strode to the center in pride and confidence. You stood beside Midoriya who began eyeing left and right with wide eyes as you pressed your lips together tightly. Midoriya's eyes glossed over and he didn't quite look so well anymore, "Aah...S-so many people...!" He stuttered waveringly. That's when you quickly pressed a hand to your mouth as if you're about to vomit.

"Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling like my hearts about to burst..." You murmured with eyes dead set on the grassy plain to avoid many, many eyes. After all, if you don't see them, they don't exist right. If only you had ear muffs.

"We will be able to give our best performance in front of this crowd?" Iida questioned, mostly to himself making both you and the green-haired boy stare at him. "This is also a part of the training to become a hero of course, as expected of UA. And-!"

Your glasses-wearing friend had peered towards the both of you-worry evident as he fixed his spectacles, "...you both don't look so good." True to Iida words, neither of you look any better as you stared hollowly in the ground, looking rather pale while Midoriya was looking around with jitters, the muscles on his face stretching in a force grin-not quite the pleasantest of smiles the green-haired boy could offer.

"...Is it too late to ask for Stomach medicine?"

Being held high as a pedestal, it's clear to see Present Mic wasn't that enthusiastic when introducing the other class, for example, the next door hero class B, with the general, support, and Business class getting the least introduction. You heaved another sigh, looking around at all of your rivals at the moment.

You caught sight of Kendo, who was walking confidently out with her own class. She must've noticed you watching, as her proud smile grew a bit cheekier, giving you a small wave and thumbs up as she leaned to the side, probably so you could see her clearly after she got blocked. You gave your very own tight smile, waving back.

Once everyone had been announced, you walked towards the single platform in the middle, where the referee will begin explaining the rules of the first activity. The referee this year for the first year string...if your memory serves you correct; it would be-

"Player's pledge!" the suggestive 18+ hero, Midnight, whipped up her flogger-style whip up into the sky, as the surrounding students and crowds stared in awe with bright blushes plastered on their faces. Living up to her name as the 18+ hero, with her skin-tight suit and rather erotic outlook, you yourself were feeling kind of heated up, blushing a teensy bit. You don't think you could ever get used to seeing anyone in outfits that don't leave much for the imagination. What if it gets cold?

That's right, Midnight-sensei. Your modern art history teacher. Other than meeting during classes, you would chat a bit when you visited the teacher's room- her asking curiously about the pokemon a couple of times, or ecstatically praising about 'youthfulness'. Though she was an 18+ hero, she was a good high school teacher if you had to rate.

"Student representative, 1-A. Bakugo Katsuki!" You perked out of your dazed nervousness, lightly slapping your cheeks in attention, as you watched the called out boy sauntering towards the front unperturbedly. Midoriya stuttered worriedly.

"It's Kaachan?" You heard Sero commenting quietly after Midoriya's question, covering his mouth in a whisper.

"Well, He was first place in the entrance exam, after all." You hummed in acknowledgment, that does make sense. Then you heard a small scoff coming the other class students, causing Sero, you, and Midoriya immediately glancing over at the perpetrator.

"Yeah, for the hero course." The general department student pointed out, glaring obviously in class A's direction as Midoriya awkwardly nodded back. Bakugo really did leave a sour taste on all of the first years after calling them out when they were blocking your classroom's entrance.

'But then again, this is a hero school...or at least mostly known for its hero courses.' You kept your mouth shut nonetheless, not hoping to rile up anyone more than you should.

Though, after glancing at the spiteful girl, you couldn't help but notice the purple-haired boy standing just in front of the said general student. He looks pretty confident, or just plain uncaring which you knew wasn't true. Shinso would look uncaring any day, but on the inside he would probably be fidgeting or having a fit. The boy hadn't bothered to glance around, seemingly entirely focus on the current events taking place, as the Bakugo Katsuki waltzed up the steps to place his pledge.

As Bakugo finally got onto the podium, the stadium fell in silence as everyone patiently waited for his oh-so-brilliant 'encouraging' speech, or at least something sportsmanship-like. You gazed up towards the blond, making a face as if preparing for what's coming and you knew exactly what was coming.

"I'll pledge...that I'll be number one." Bakugo lazily drawled, taking his sweet time to say.

Your whole class literally made the wildest faces you've ever seen, as you yourself forced a closed-eye smile-yup you were right. Just like that, a whirlwind of angry protestors from the other class was booing and hissing. Bakugo didn't seem to care at all that he was being jeered left and right as he offhandedly commented after, sending a thumbs-down. "At least be a good springboard for me."

Your brows furrowed as you shook your head tiredly. Well, you did expect this, but Bakugo seriously is confident. Bakugo walked down the podium slowly, ignoring an angered Iida on his way, and, of course, bumping shoulders with Midoriya. All while he did this, he strangely kept his gaze on you. Your gazes didn't let up until Bakugo finally walked passed you. You still watched him in confusion after he walked to his designated place.

What was that all about?

With that, the UA sports festival's first event will finally begin its first trial. You eyed as the first activity was being announced, the screen showcasing in big bold words, 'Obstacle Race'. The race will be joined by each class, and everyone must race with each other all around the stadium. The last thing that probably riled everyone up in excitement was there is no limits to what you are allowed to do, as long as you stay on course. So in easier terms, anything is allowed, as long as you're within the tracks.

Midnight's eyes reached to your form, as you sent a small polite nod her way as she winked cheerily.

So anything huh? Your nervousness was slowly dissipating to growing anticipation.

Every first-year was already moving to the starting line, which was literally a huge gate as an exit to head out to the racing course. You were looking around, mostly trying to avoid from staring at the huge crowd of spectators, as you bit the inside of your cheek. Meowth said he'll meet you outside, but he hadn't made an appearance-you were supposed to drop him off with All Might. Where did that darn cat go too?

Amidst your search, you caught sight of the press box, where if you stare just long enough, you could see both teachers, the eccentric Present Mic, and the bandaged homeroom teacher himself, Eraserhead. It looked like Aizawa was dragged as a commentator by his flashy friend, you chuckled. Poor Aizawa-sensei.

After giving a brief one look again, you blurted out with a huff. "Hmm...guess Meowth will have to wait after the event...darn cat..." You grumbled, he was definitely getting into trouble when you see him later.

"...One of the Pokémon?" Shinso's voice echoed behind you.

You jumped, whirling around with wide eyes as Shinso couldn't hide the amusement he had after watching your reaction, his lips upturning to a smile briefly as you sighed at the purple-head.

"Jeez, thanks for the heart attack..." You glared at him, as that finally made him emit a slight chuckle, which you jokingly pushed him back for. Hitoshi smirked in retaliation, as you frowned with no real ill intent at the general student. You tilted your head, the fake frown dissipating neutrally after seeing him look that glad. It's really different how he acts in front of you than with others. You questioned, watching Shinso's expression carefully. "Are you ready Hitoshi...?"

Shinso smirk didn't quite dither, in fact, he looked more confident. "Yeah, been training up my quirk." He briefly said as you nodded. Too bad you couldn't see his training, with all of the grinding your own Pokémon had to pull through, you were a bit occupied. You actually had never gotten the chance to see what Shinso's quirk was like first hand, making you a bit more curious. Wonder how it looks?

Shinso's eyes that alit with confidence had slowly dimmed, as you were greeted with the common aloofness you have grown used too, looking slightly bothered by something all of a sudden.

"Hey...you," You perked, waiting curiously for the brainwashing boy to continue as his mouth twisted in a small frown. "I'm going to be using my quirk...on others."

You blinked in confusion as he rubbed the back of his nape, glancing away. You waited for him to add on something else, leaning closer unconsciously but he just shrugged, seemingly growing embarrassed. "Yeah...that's it. Just wanted to tell you that."

Your blank stare unnerved him a bit, as you stayed silent, watching your middle school friend for a long while. "Um...I mean you're allowed to do that..." you sent your own smaller shrug, eyes darting around in confusion.

"I-I know!" He blurted, growing ultimately more embarrassed. His whole body was flaring as he turned away, using a hand to slightly cover his ashamed state. You stared longer at him, watching the way he fidgets where he stood, his ears tinging in bright red, and the way he couldn't meet your eyes. Your observant eyes softened, could he still be...?

"I'm going to line up now." Shinso cut abruptly without meeting your gaze, yet his face noticeably straightened to his usual sour face as you blinked up at him, was it just your imagination? He took a step or two away, before you pulled his sleeve, using a strength he didn't really know you have as you whirled him around to only frown at him. "W-What?" His brows twinge, casting his eyes to the side again.

Your narrowed eyes made him grow more uncomfortable till you finally released your hold, you hand dropping slowly. He stayed rooted, knowing you were going to get mad if he so much as to try to run again. He wasn't sure what he was expecting but he was not expecting this as you went forward, rounding your arms around him tightly, squeezing him warmly. The warmth of Shinso rounding around you as the man began stuttering around after realizing you were hugging him.

"H-Hey, stop!" Shinso barked, his hands in the air as he looked everywhere in awkwardness. He seethed uncomfortably, "There are literal people everywhere..." You snorted at his words as you pressed your head closer to him, causing him to stiffen.

"I hugged you before for the Entrance exam, won't you give just a small hug back to ease my nervousness?" You asked as he grumbled underneath his breath. He awkwardly put down his hand to only awkwardly pat you. His hand gawkily pressing your back, causing you to pull away with a laugh to see Shinso's slight tinged-face. He turned his head away once more.

...You'd like to think he was more embarrassed than the fact the heat might be bothering him. You blinked at the sudden thought, before taking a step back from him. Something you didn't quite notice when you first hugged him was that Shinso's hugs was warm, and for some reason, the beating sun didn't make it any less comfortable. It almost made you sad to let go.

Thankfully no one really noticed the affectionate action, to engrossed with their own trials. You smiled at him, "Good luck Hitoshi...I'll see you in the next round." The way Shinso looked showed you rose his spirits even more, as he made a small noise affirmatively.

"Back at you." He replied, waving goodbye as you turned towards the starting line, seeing a few familiar faces, including a riled up Tetsutetsu who was so angered by Bakugo's words he didn't notice as you walked past him.

You settled at a comfortable distance away from the gates, already prodding with individuals who were planning to get a head start, which mind you, wouldn't do so much with the current rules. You couldn't help but peer up at the gates that towered over everyone, the gate had 3 LED lights that have yet to brightened. Guess that was the countdown for the event, as you fiddled with your belt. You had a nice chat with Aoyama earlier, who told you that everyone's allowed to bring support items if the school board allows so. Though the pokeballs already passed the board, you were glad to be able to bring your belt.

You discreetly pulled out one Pokeball, currently tiny in your hands, as you held it close to your chest. You peeked down, knowing you just had to pull this Pokémon when it comes to a race.

Your eyes trailed to the VIP seats, where a couple of teachers were sitting there with watchful gazes. All Might was there you think, though you couldn't quite see him all that clearly. Rather, he was looking more like a blob from the distance. Even so, you could tell he was cheering you on to do your best. All the teachers were, as you unconsciously glanced in Aizawa-sensei's direction.

You involuntarily rolled the ball around, as this time your eyes traveled to the thousands of reporters and camera, and then that big screen that would show everything, making sure to grab all the action for the viewers all over Japan.

You slowly trailed your eyes back at the ball, the thudding of your heart loudly pounding in your ears. You bit your lips tightly, almost sure you were going to draw blood if you continued on, but the more time that ticked, the more you grew hesitant of what you were doing.

The countdown already has begun, and the atmosphere dulled to near silence as the participants watched the 1'st LED light lit up in green.

But this could really help.

You inhaled deeply, exhaling after slowly.

The 2nd light lit up, and there was a noticeable shift of people getting ready. There were a vary of intake of nervous breaths, and the shift of people readying to sprint, as everyone watching the lights impatiently. As the 3rd light seemed to stretch for hours compared to the first two, the weight in everyone's hearts weigh heavily down.

And then it lit up.

"Start!" Midnight bellowed with a swing of her whip.

And with that, the race has begun. The crowd was racing towards the front, with no time to lose. The thundering steps of each racer rushing to be the first to get to the tracks.

"We'll be giving you the live broadcast!" Present Mic proclaimed stridently, turning to his companion with a wide grin. "Are you ready for your commentary, mummy man!?"

"...You forced me to come here." Aizawa dully replied, uncaring for all the on watchers listening in. Present Mic turned away without much thought, wondering out loud. "So what's the highlight for the beginning stage?"

The students cluttered around in the narrow path, a pathway that linked the arena with the race track, as yells filled with jeers and complaints filled the arena. Pushing, shoving each other within the tight area. A familiar scenario to when UA got media invasion problem. Sadly, there wasn't much anyone could do to get a lead as of yet.

Yet.

A whirlwind of cold swirled past, crawling the floor and walls as no sooner everything was covered with thin ice. The outer gate was incased also with shards of ice, and it was quite obvious just who's not willing to waste another second in this impractical setback, as ice followed after Todoroki with every step he took, taking the lead.

"Sorry." Todoroki dryly said, not all to sorry as everyone was forced to slow down. Most were stuck, their legs glued to the floor, all due to the ice that encased their legs, immobilizing them. but,

Momo swung a baton to avoid the ice, jumping over steadily as she commented, "Too soft, Todoroki!"

"You got me with that once, there's no second time!" Even Ojiro, who was the one that has dealt with the ice before, was able to jump over with ease.

"I won't let you get your way, half-and-half bastard!" Bakugo was way ahead of Todoroki, as he was able to keep his body afloat with his explosion, rocketing off the ground in flurry. Quite a few of the others were also able to avoid the ice, angrily rushing forward towards the half cold-half hot boy who still had the upper hand.

Present Mic was, as expected, openmouthed in awe but kept his mouth shut to avoid getting too excited before he should comment. The first event was already kicking in, and the obstacles hadn't even arrived yet. But the eccentric teacher couldn't keep down his obnoxious surprise when he could see a single student waiting before the gate stationarily.

He scratched his side with an unsure gaze, his eyes hidden behind his snazzy glasses, pointing over quickly to Aizawa with a frown. "What's this? One student is already giving up?!" Aizawa, gazing through the cracks of his wraps, immobilized, drifted down his own set of eyes to the lone student standing before the gates.

"That..." Aizawa's eyes narrowed.

"Todoroki-san doesn't waste a second does he?" You pondered, lonesomely waiting in front of the opening gates, seemingly talking to yourself. You could hear the angry agitation of students in front of you after being encased in Todoroki's trap, as you watched Todoroki rushing forward in the ginormous screen.

Though Present Mic's word made a few murmurs cross the crowd, most were more engrossed with the first place runner, which included the media. You gaze one last time at the Pokeball, feeling the thrill of excitement emitting from the ball itself. You huff a laugh.

"Right, sorry for stalling, I bet your itching for a run." You began, pressing the button laxly, the ball enlarging snuggly into your palm. You bounced it in your hand for a moment, glancing back at the screen briefly. "Though that Todoroki might have gotten all the attention right off the bat," You pulled your arm back like a batter, no one catching sight at this-putting you a bit at ease. The corner of your lips rising, as you zeroed on to the looming darkness, heart-pounding excitedly.

"I'm just going to have to steal it back."

You threw the ball into the blackness, rushing forward. "Let's go-!"

Todoroki's eyes unconsciously glanced to the back, as if his senses overtook him. Though he was already far ahead compared to his classmates and the other students, he can't help but noticed the surprise gasps and murmurs coming from within gates he had quickly overtook with his right side. He noticed a silhouette rushing forward, and he didn't get his bearings ready when he finally was able decipher what it appeared to be.

"-Arcanine!"

Then it emerged, jumping over a bunch of students that gawked up in shock. Todoroki's eyes widening, suddenly feeling the familiar gleam of red and orange, the burning sensation you could feel just from eyeing the creature, bearing wide eyes and sharp teeth. The orange-black color scheme it had reminded him kind of Bakugo, as fur mostly encased the entire creature, that resembled the heat he knew all too well for some reason.

"That's a Poke-?" Midoriya loudly exclaimed among the dumbstruck first years, eyes widely following the movement of the creature, eyeing its underside in stupefaction as it jumped with stride over their heads

Plummeting down to the ground, the creature puffed a small ember out, allowing it to step on solid ground, melting a small path, before jumping over once more. Todoroki cursed, it was a fire quirk after all. Bakugo who was not too far behind, himself, glanced back with irritation when the dog jumped over him his rocketing form, causing him to yell irritably. "A Mutt?!"

It wasn't long until it was right next to Todoroki, causing the two-toned male to glare sharply till it froze in surprise, as he finally noticed someone riding him all along. Your eyes held mirth at the funny expression you were greeted, hands clenched on Arcanine's hair to keep steady. Your mouth opened, and though no real words came out, his eyes only widened wider, and anger started brewing as you mouthed before exceeding him completely.

"Sorry...Todoroki-kun."

And you were already ahead of him, he gritted his teeth.

"Wha-Wha-!" Present Mic's stuttered, rising from his seat in awe, "AND (LAST) (NAME) SWEEPS UP FIRST PLACE RIGHT UNDER EVERYONE'S NOSES! PASSING TODOROKI SHOTO! And what this! She's riding an unknown creature!" Unable to keep his mouth shut anymore, his words caused outrage of awestruck gazes and confusion, and even the media seemed to be stricken in shock before they rushed to capture and write this news. "Just what is this majestic animal! Did you know this Eraserhead!?" Present Mic gave a side glance to Eraser, who didn't bother to gaze back. All the teachers were informed about the Pokémon, Eraserhead sighed dryly.

The path in front of you was empty, void of obstacles as of yet. You glanced back for a second, noticing Todoroki and Bakugo tailing you before you petted the overgrown dog's fur with vigor. "Good Job Arcanine, let's keep it up!" Arcanine grunted appreciatively, before rushing faster.

"WHAT INCREDIBLE SPEED!" Present Mic was ecstatic, commenting with excitement. "Just what makes this creature run so fast?!" Present Mic seemed genuinely curious at the end of the question, as you found yourself entertained at the teacher's loud curiosity.

Before you could go any further though, the ground rumbled, and something humongous blocked your view. Your eyes alit with recognition, as Arcanine skidded to a stop, his paws digging on the tracks. You craned your neck up, covering your face from the beaming sunlight.

The zero pointer robot, from the entrance exam, wasn't it? So this was what it looked like in real life huh? You could finally tell how overwhelmed most of your friends must be when they came across this. It was naturally, huge, something that UA seems to take in pride with everything from their over towering school building, to how much empty land they probably have. With a green outlook, and red camera-eyes-this robotic creature was a bit intimidating in its own way.

"Target. Lots of them." It scrutinizes the group of students below, which they probably look like ants to the piece of metal.

"The sudden appearance of the obstacles! Now to begin with...the first barrier! Robo Inferno!" You hummed in interest. So this was the first obstacle? Guess all you need to do is find your way to past the robots blocking your path.

"...In that case." You patted Arcanine's head to get his attention, as the canine peered up, before realizing he can't see you like that, opting to then turn his head to the side instead. Your eyes narrowed up at the robotic lenses that followed your movement. You smirked.

"Let's just flame-throw this thing."

You grinned slyly as the burning heat inside him grew larger. As you turned away to brace yourself, large emit of fire bursts out of Arcanine right against the robot, not even standing a chance to make a move. It was hot, burning, and the gleaming sun was already making this large fluff even stronger as fire scorched through the unsuspecting robot. You peeked over finally, noticing as this scrap of metal was melting as we speak, it's green body steaming harshly.

"Targeet...Insi-ghhhttt..." It drawled robotically, close to turning to mush as you pushed Arcanine to pass forward quickly, right passed its legs.

Even though you basically gave way for everyone to pass after the robot collapses to a puddle-as they could side step from it later on, they'd still be far off back if you passed through here first. After all, no one would be willing to walk pass that, a currently melting robot, would they? And with Arcanine's speed, you should be the only one to pass first. You smiled once you caught sight of some of your friends in the back, before you focused back to the front.

As you hastily rushed away, the melting metal just started to melt even more allowing you to make the distance between you and the rest even wider.

But then, the crackling of Ice devoured the robot, halting it completely from its melted state.

You found yourself looking back in surprise, watching as Todoroki's icy silhouette appeared to be tailing from the robot's iced legs. It appeared he had brought himself some time to run pass the robots before the bot would really become a hot puddle. Todoroki's really not going down without a fight it seems.

At first glance, it looked like Todoroki was giving way for the others to pass through just like you were. By icing the melting robot, solidifying it so it wouldn't become a literal burning pond of metal to cross-now there was a pathway through its legs once more. But frankly, the ice was only going to delay the fall.

It thudded down harshly after Todoroki walked through, and you were left feeling a bit nervous for the rest before you continued to rush ahead.

"Look at that! Not only is the crowd burnin' up, the whole tracks in a blaze! But what's this? It got cold real quick!" Present Mic snapped his fingers, ecstatically making proud gestures and movements as he finally addressed the emperor's new clothes. "Audience! Though this is late!"

"Took you long enough..." Aizawa muttered grumbly.

"We are here to show you something new at this Sports Festival!" The cheers hadn't died down after the initial appearance of the Pokémon so close. Though Present Mic hasn't even revealed it as such-it was already clear what that creature was. Confusion, interest, fear, and excitement was clear from all the on watchers faces. "UA is going show you something you'll never forget!"

A large shadow appeared on the greenfield, a shape that seemed awfully familiar to a mythical creature, as some raise their heads up to catch a glimpse of an obscured dragon far up in the sky, not quite as big as the shadow it casts, circling the arena. There was awed gasps and stares, as they pointed curiously at the being before the dragon disappeared from sight.

Back at the schoolyard, a thundering step grabbed the attention of surprise visitors, looking at the big animal waltzing pass them, languidly moving its long neck bearing fruits in a small unthreateningly stretch, with wings like broad tropical leaves fluttering slightly. The being stared at every person walking pass it, but held no ill intent. The creature, Tropius, slowly walked past the booths, it's height matching the colorful stands that scattered the school courtyard, as it growled out a low rumble.

Right around another side of the schoolyard, within the booths, a man behind the cotton candy booth tipped his hat to the little children gleeing at him after receiving a large chunk of sugar. He was about to coat cotton on a new stick when a literal cotton candy floated passed the booth as he stared ajar, the children gasping and pointing at Swirlix, who did not pay any attention to the awe gasps, floating with a skip of a beat with its tongue poking out.

The tree that was planted around UA rustled, as leaves sway at the movement. A couple walked passed a shaking tree, as the man wearing a cap over his head was dumbstruck when it suddenly disappeared, taken off by someone. An animalistic giggle, loud and gleeful, resounded, as the couple looked around in confusion. A rather mischievous monkey was giggling about, its hand-like tail holding the cap carefully. It teasingly held down the item in front of the man, before cheekily taking It away from the man's sight. Aipom giggled louder from its branch.

Mount Lady watched with wide eyes as the creature she knew she caught a glimpse of earlier, and made an appearance near the first year's arena, appeared to fly over her ahead. With a bulky build, and its orange skin shining, the dragon swayed left and right as it moved along slower than usual. With its large snout, and bright dark eyes watching the ground, it flew pass with ease. Everyone just peering up for a second could only stare agape, as the dragon flew not too close-but too far from them.

The hero eyes narrowed at something rounding its neck before It unexpectedly nodded at Mount Lady's direction causing her to stiffen.

The child that was pointing about a dragon earlier was now pointing at it obviously. "See, I told you I saw it!" The child cheered with triumph, as the mother only take a step back, astonished at the sudden appearance as the dragon whizzed passed them, as the kid bounced in excitement.

Mount Lady's two comrades rushed towards her, who was still gaping in surprise at the obvious nod in her direction, as they pointed obviously at the dragon. "Someone illegally using their quirks?" Death arms proclaimed, about to follow it before the female hero stopped him.

"I don't think so." She pointed towards the tag wrapped around the dragon's neck whilst Dragonite circled them once again with purpose. It was the security tag, as the trio of heroes stared at their own curiously, before giving each other unsure looks.

"They're all here! the main attraction from the news!" Recovery girl sat in her designated nurse room, sitting far back on her large swivel chair, causing her legs to barely reach the end of the seat. She held her needle-like cane as she watched through the television with mirth, humming a bit as cheerful squeals were heard behind her.

"These mysterious, exotic creatures that took the world by storm!" A large bulky man was standing inside said arena. He stood with flames, burning in a blazing red, emitting from him proudly. As the man's flames swayed by the slight gust, his piercing glare, a steely blue, attentively on the figure now being showcased on the large screen.

"Though we don't know much about them, we can't help but wonder about them!" In a secret building, away from eyes, a man sat on his chair. The alarming amount of tubes that was attached to this man was terrifying, as he watched the screen with a leveling-feeling of interest. His face was obscured, but his smile held darkness like no other. As the only sound filling the room was the sound of the machine attached to him, and the lonely bubbling.

"Let me introduce the outstanding, mystical, ever so intriguing..." Present Mic was so riled up, swinging his arm joyfully, he didn't notice as the door was abruptly swung open, as Aizawa turned curiously. The bandaged hero narrowed his eyes in confusion, as the presenter paused for effect, his arm still swinging ecstatically before he pointed over to the camera.

"Po-,"

"Pokémon, at your service!" A cat pushed Present Mic to the side, now the one standing before the camera as muddle and tremor filled the stadium as the cat gleefully cheered, posing for lens.

"Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen!" The new voice echoed all around, and the camera had already panned towards the offender who was smirking with its wide cat-like appearance. Present Mic was seen in the background looking flabbergasted as Aizawa himself had his eyes widened unexpectedly. "Sorry for comin' late! Got a bit lost getting here ya know?"

The obnoxious cat chatted loudly to the two commenters, winking, before winking again towards the camera, "Let's get this party started-for real this time!?" The crowd was dulled into shock at the talking feline, as it cheekily continued, "After all, you can't start the party without me! The life of the party itself-Meowth! A devilishly handsome Pokemon-if I do say myself!" The cat nodded with a paw on his unanimously, eyes shut as if he was telling facts. And he was!

The cat audaciously grinned, a Cheshire expression as he pointed towards the camera in a haughty manner. He made a jest expression. "So don't mind us, creatures!" Meowth commented with a cutesy grin, seemingly surprising everyone before a devilish expression dressed his feature, now holding the mic in a different way. "Cause-,"

You glanced at the back slyly to Todoroki and Bakugo, smirking a bit more widely. "Because-,"

"We're going to take over this festival!"

Woooo! I'm back! With a pretty long chapter. This chapter takes literal lifespans off my life. But since we're getting into the Sports Festival, let's just dive into the whirlwind of mess.

I actually really like this chapter for some reason. I don't know if it's just so anime-ish or something, but I just really like it. But the action is kind of sparse this chapter, but don't worry! The next chapters will definitely have tons of those. So, this sports festival, though there was that six-pokemon-rule Aizawa made, is going to have quite a lot of friendly old faces and new faces of our lovely monsters. So be prepared for many-and I mean many.

By the way, you guys really have a ton of great ideas for the Sports Festival, and I'm proud to show you! MC Meowth! Hip-Hip-Horray! A lot of people suggested this, and honestly, I can't disagree on what a great thing this is...but will Meowth cause more trouble for our protagonist than he'll contribute? I wonder!

I'm completely hyped for the next chapter, and hope you guy are too! Thank you continuously for all your comments and all your love. I can't express how much I appreciate all the love the book has gotten! Until the next Chapter!

Another lovely fanart by proseCUTIE in quotev, it truly is adorable!
