❦ Thirty Four
"Lunch break is over, and now we'll announce the final event!" As the first few students began filing in, Present Mic was quick to incite enthusiasm by beginning his commentary. After spending lunch with a snoozing mummified Aizawa, the duo pro-heroes were back in the commentator's box on their designated chairs.
In a flash, the earlier slightly barren stadium was packed with spectators trilling in fulfillment, lunch down in their stomachs contently. The crowd began walking towards their seats, prepared for the final games to commence in inward excitement. An excitement that only intensified as a shadow would cast their forms, only looking up to the appearance of a slow gliding dragon's underbelly circling the large arena.
It looked like Dragonite was anticipating the next events eagerly too. Eyeing the arena packed people with interested eyes with every slow turn.
You and Midoriya had just trailed inside as the stadium seemed to lighten up, your visage remaining fixated on something you were brooding over that left the poor green-bean beside you antsy. You took no notice to this, eyeing the crowd with seemingly unaffected eyes compared to your first entrance when you stumbled inside in a puddle of nerves. This sudden change had Midoriya hovering close by worriedly and speechless, wondering if there's anything he could do to ease you. In the end, he decided to just stay by your side for the time being.
"But before that, there's good news for those who didn't qualify." Present Mic's booming voice continued, "This is a Sports Festival, so there's a recreational event planned for everyone to participate!"
As the light hit your eyes, you noticed the small group of class B students walking ahead of you two, failing to have noticed earlier that there were Kendo and Tetsutetsu within their group, the former engaged in a lighthearted chatter with her classmates, while the latter leads the cluster. Once everyone finally halted, Kendo who took a small glimpse your way, sent a smile and a wave effortlessly. The action garnering Tetsutetsu's attention, who beamed in your direction. It didn't take long for the rest of their classmates to notice, as they gave their own greetings from afar.
Your lips quirked up into a small smile, your eyes relaxing for a bare moment at the friendly action. It's nice to have some friends outside of your class. Though Class B had seemed a little off-put by the rumors about class A, they were still willing to engage in conversation with you. Granted, you only felt close to Kendo and Tetsutetsu, but it's still nice to be on pleasant terms with the rest. You raised a hand to return the greetings.
If it wasn't for your eyes catching sight of the appearance of another, your slightly pacified mood might've lasted a little longer as (eye color) clashed with haughty grey ones.
When your eyes met with Monoma's, he simply, as if repulsed by the sight of you, crassly turned his head away. It looked like the blond was still sour about his last loss, as he let out miffed 'tch'. This immature notion made you roll your eyes. Guess there was one person, that you can't be with pleasant terms at the end. Nonetheless, you decided to just ignore the haughty male's action to shift your attention to a bumbling Midoriya, still reeling over your odd action in the tunnel.
"Hmm..." Suddenly, Present Mic droned, looking around the small area he was in with confusion. His brows furrowed as he turned to his tired companion. He was a little surprised to be perturbed by the lack of appearance of a certain cat. "Looks like Mouser hasn't arrived yet..."
"Hmm." That was Eraserhead's only response.
"Should we wait out for him or-,"
"No need!"
The teachers whirled their heads around to see a slightly out of breath Meowth, haggardly stationed by the door. The feline held a finger up for a second to catch his breath, leaving the pro-heroes to eye the cat in leveling bafflement before Meowth lifted his head with his usual sneakiness, "For I am Here! Just fashionably late!"
"Mouser-you made it!" The blond hero welcomed, as Meowth made it his business to get right back on to the table. Meowth grunted in reply, as the hero continued. "Almost thought you got lost!"
"Gotta make a good entrance," The cat stretched a bit, cracking his neck sideway languidly, before giving a satisfied nod. Then he turned solemn, talking with his head slightly down earnestly with the palms of his paws pressed together. "Especially since I got to pay my respects to the late almighty All Might-"
"Okay, but All Might's not dead-,"
"And besides, I couldn't just come here early-! But moving that aside-are you all getting excited or what?!" Unsurprisingly, Meowth was able to quickly divert the attention away from his tardiness to amp-up the crowd, who cheered in response deafeningly. Meowth was pleased with the reaction, as he began parading on top of the desk boastfully. As per usual, the feline can grab the attention like a lighthouse surrounded by boats in a raging sea as Meowth continued his commentary, eyeing the field below. "Nice enthusiasm! As we wait for the rest of the twerps to arrive, let's discuss our next event which will be-!"
"-AAAANNNDDD that's a wrap!" Present Mic was somehow prepared, snatching the microphone out of the cat's grasp to sigh. "You're spoiling way too much! That was another close one!"
Meowth flopped down, shrugging. "Can't help it, it's in my nature," Meowth spoke as if that was a reasonable answer, the cat finally getting in the mood for another round of endless commentary.
With things starting up, Meowth ignored the teacher giving him a small lecture to shift his thin pupils lazily at the field once more. They narrowed once he caught sight of something, tilting his head in question before deciding to ask. "Hey by the way, what's going on over there?"
Present Mic, who stopped his small lecture, leaned over to see what the feline had pointed at, before perking up. "Ah-right on time Mouser! That's the cheerleaders from America that we brought in to liven things up!"
On a certain corner, there were a group of cheerleaders clad in bright orange outfits doing a small routine, yelling out cheers of encouragement. Cameras were clicking as they continued their cheering vigorously and excitably.
You eyed them with interest, as this was your first time catching sight of the foreign cheerleaders. They all had the UA insignia in their cheer uniform, as you momentarily addressed your words to a slightly red Midoriya. "I didn't know there was going to be a cheer."
"Ah-," Your sudden statement surprised the embarrassed male, he fumbled with his arms as he caught your gaze clashing with his. "Uh-I suppose it's to lift the school spirit...?" His answer was unsurprising, but you still found yourself chuckling a tad before replying.
"Ahh-makes sense." Your simple reply seemed to serve as an even bigger embarrassment to Midoriya, as he feels like you are sort of teasing him of his flusteredness, which somehow makes him even more bashful.
"Well yeah, I know that!" Meowth's quick-witted reply came, loudly resounding all around. "What I mean is, that!" Meowth pointed a paw over to exactly what he was referring to, even maneuvering Present Mic's face to show it. The action served to show exactly what Meowth was referring to, as the teachers beheld the odd sight.
"Huh...?" Aizawa leaned a tad forward, taking a gander perplexedly as Present Mic followed with a gruff of disbelief.
"What?"
"What are they doing?" Aizawa sounded rather 'done'.
You grew confused at the befuddled noises, sounding like something completely alarming happened. But you couldn't find anything out of the ordinary, until Midoriya erupted in a dark shade of red, stumbling back with a strangled yell. "GWAH-!"
"W-W-W-W-WH-UH!" In no time flat, Midoriya was already hiding his face behind his arms, even then he still couldn't hide his incredibly crimson face as you ogled him as though he completely lost his head. He wasn't even making coherent sentences anymore, as you turned your attention to where he was gaping at, where other students gaped over in similar, yet dimmer, reactions. What is-?
Your eyes widened.
Oh.
In a singular horizontal line, the girls of Class 1-A stood flusteredly. Well, expression-wise, they appeared completely and utterly fed up in contempt, as each of them was garbed in a very similar uniform to the cheerleaders before, the orange with white and green lining UA cheer uniform. From neck to toe, they wore matching trinkets from their chokers to their matching knee-high socks and shoes- they even had pom-poms clutched onto each hand.
You slowly blinked.
"What happened, Class A?! What kind of service is this?!"
You were still trying to process what was going on, barely heeding the completely bashful male beside you before you remembered Kaminari's and Mineta's proposal they had sprung up to you in the cafeteria.
'Ah, so just as I suspected. They were faking it...' your brows twinging knowingly, before letting out a small sigh. Kaminari and Mineta were already sending each other approving thumbs up, looking to be having a field day. While Yaoyorozu, not so much. "Mineta-san, Kaminari-san, you tricked us!"
Meowth seemed to be getting the same idea as you, finally finding out what the fuss was all about in the cafeteria. The cat gazed down shrewdly, humming like he was holding hidden intentions, which Present Mic was quick to provide as he questioned again, "No, but seriously, what happened?!"
Meowth would not live this down, as he smirked deviously. "Well~ Perhaps you should ask some teenage boys for an explanation, you feel me?"
Both the teachers, Aizawa and Present Mic, turned towards the chuckling feline. "Huh?"
The perverted duo's pizza time has stopped. Both visibly sweating bullets after they stiffened in panic. Present Mic questioned what the cat's cryptic message meant, but Meowth waved it off to simply grin down with a paw holding up his chin mischievously. The duo could actually feel Meowth's gaze on them, even with the cat being so far away.
Meowth is truly...a fearsome feline.
Promptly, after snapping out of your daze, you left Midoriya's fumbling side to jog towards your friends as Momo fell in a heap of distress, eyes shut tiredly. "Why do I always fall for Mineta-san's tricks like this?" Ochaco, the ever good friend, crouched down to pat the upset vice president. "I even used Creation to make the outfits..."
That's some serious dedication, you wanted to say as you reached out your hands like you were about to capture them in a hug as Jiro had already begun throwing the pom-poms on the ground, the sound of fussy paper-like crunches echoing after every throw as she agitatedly wrapped her arms around her as a cover. "Those idiots-!"
"Well, there's time before the finals, and it's tiring to be nervous," Hagakure's outfit was the only notable part of her, but her cheeriness was so visible that it's such a clash. She began excitedly swinging around. "We should just do it!"
"What?!" Jiro grew even more abashed by the statement, as Tsuyu looked over with understanding.
"Tooru-chan sure like these things." The frog-girl commented before she turned to acknowledge you, eyeing with her dark-green eyes, tilting her head a tad. "(Name)-chan, I'm surprised you didn't get caught too."
With one of the girls finally acknowledging your presence, all the girls were quick to notice you as you gave them a nervous look. "Yeah..."
When you had first heard of Kaminari and Mineta's proposal, you were quick to subside the notion as an irrelevant matter. You assumed that since it was never announced that it either was a fluke or wasn't of importance, so you didn't act upon it. However, you were far too caught up with your thoughts that you hadn't even think about the other girls, who would probably also get caught up in this.
"Huh, they didn't trick you?" Mina walked closer, eyeing you with confusion as you were the only one left out. You simply rub the back of your neck, a habit you felt like you picked up a bit from Shinso.
"I think they tried too, but I sort of ignored them." You murmured a bit, eyeing the side to look away from the stares. Your reasoning made a little sigh release from all of them, wondering why they didn't do the same.
"I should've known better," Momo voiced dispiritedly again, this time making you bend down to lightly pat her back alongside the brunette.
"...Damn it, if only we overlooked it too," Jiro can't help but input, still tightly wrapping her arms around her bitterly, she sent an annoyed glare to the culprits, who looked away from the intensity, before she seethed. "now we're in this ridiculous outfit-!"
Jiro gritted her teeth, feeling frustrated when you blurted out something, sounding like you were whispering. "But you guys look cute!"
"...eh?" Momo and Uraraka blinked owlishly.
"What?!" Jiro blurted in embarrassment for the second time, in fact, she had stiffened so bad she couldn't move as her ear jacks hastily maneuvered their way to cover her face. You didn't expect them to hear that comment, throwing you off to an awkward jumble.
"I mean, well, uh-," For some reason, Mina and Hagakure were now looking at you intensely, as if what you had to say was god's words. Tsuyu had gazed at you with a questioning tilt of her head that made it even harder for you to continue.
You weren't lying when you said that, finding the outfit complimenting them well and cutely, but you hadn't meant to say it so straightforwardly. Your eyes avoided staring too long in one place as you fumbled with your sentence. Why were words so hard to articulate during these moments for you? "I just think that you all look really nice-! It actually makes me feel a tad left out, even though I don't really want to wear a cheerleading outfit...y'know?"
"..." An awful silence seemed to crawl past. A Haunter might've passed by and you wouldn't have known due to your growing remorse.
"AWW~ (Name)! Why are you so cute like this!" Mina jumped you from the back in a tight hug, she didn't give you room to breathe as Hagakure spoke up happily.
"We should definitely get some matching outfits soon-! It'll be so fun!" She giddily seemed to bounce and started listing off ideas of perhaps getting matching jackets and bracelets which you only slightly nod at in befuddlement.
"Well...If you say so then." Momo finally got back up slowly from her collapse form, giving a quaint smile with a strangely shyer vibe that rarely makes an appearance. She lifted her pom-poms a bit. "I guess we should make...the best of it...?"
"That's the spirit Yaoyorozu-chan!" Uraraka beamed, giving you a happy look. She didn't seem completely bothered by the outcome of this prank. The other quickly agreed, moving aside the disappointment to get ready for the next events.
"But still..." Jiro murmured, still salty, "-getting trick really is the worst." Well, it's no surprise that all the girls were probably still a tad bit salty about getting so easily tricked, but it was already done and over with. You paused as Mina released you, thinking of it for a while, before siding up to the dark-purple haired girl.
You leaned in to whisper, unconsciously earning the same response. "Then, want to get back at them?"
Your question made Jiro's frown disappear, as she finally smiled. "Definitely." You both gave each other a nod, deciding to execute your plan in the close future with small smirks. The mood had quickly gotten back to how it usually is, as the girls began chattering about maybe doing a cheer anyway.
You were only pulled away from the lighthearted conversation when you heard a loud squeak. "Pika!"
That's right- Pikachu was supposed to be with Uraraka. However, you hadn't even seen the electric mouse this whole time as you shifted your gaze around perplexedly. Right when you were about to question about it, Ochaco jumped in realization, eyes comically going a bit wider, as she let out a small 'Oh!'
"I almost forgot!" Uraraka cried, quickly reminding the rest of the girls this hidden forgotten something, leaving you left out as they gave each other glances, speaking to each other through eye-contact. Uraraka decided to voice her thoughts, "Should we still do it?"
"...I don't see why not, kero."
Jiro still appeared abashed, but she still went along. "Well-since we already planned this..."
"It would be a waste." Momo inputted after shyly.
"Alright! Here we go!" Mina cheered, as you watched curiously as the girls got into a now vertical line, some albeit awkwardly, to suddenly pull out a small cheer that Mina cheered out first-earning a little cry of cheers from the rest. You gaped as they moved away from the line, parting from the line one by one to gesture with sheepish grins to Tsuyu, who held out her hand carrying-
Your eyes widened, as you choked on your spit. "Oh my-!"
There, standing on top of Tsuyu's hands, was Pikachu. But not just Pikachu, rather a frowning Pikachu garbed in the same outfit as the girls, orange with green-lining and all. It was fitted quite perfectly, something you took note of and pinpointed to Momo's doing, as the little yellow mouse gazed at you with a pout. The mouse had its arm crossed, but that honestly added to the cuteness effect even more.
"Pfft-!" You slapped a hand over your mouth hastily, turning your head away without a thought that made Pikachu stare open-mouthed in shock. The mouse huffed, feeling offended at your shaking form, which was trying to stifle down the laughter just ready to burst.
"Hahaha-Pikachu..." After straightening yourself, you walked towards Tsuyu, who eyed down at the Pikachu standing on her hand, before handing the mouse to you. Pikachu was still angered by your reaction but made no movement to avoid you as you picked him up easily. You grinned down at the mouse. "You look so adorable Pikachu!"
Pikachu huffed again, scrunching his nose cutely as smoke puffs out of his nostrils. He continued to ignore you, as you tilted your head to meet his. "Aww, I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself." Pikachu frowned, glaring at you as you held him up like a child, after all, he is baby. "I can't believe you agreed to this...pfft-!" You giggled, before wrapping the flailing mouse into a hug.
Pikachu wasn't so forgiving at first as he angrily berated you in Pikachu-gibberish all while thrashing about. But Pikachu was also sweet and he had an especially soft spot for you, causing him to sigh begrudgingly, finally accepting his fate to be smothered. He snuggled back, as the girls cooed at his action, his frown slowly disappearing to content.
"...Pfft...hehehe-Ahem!" Meowth's snickering echoed, and Pikachu's expression fell. "Well you saw it, folks, time to snap some photos of the cheerleading mouse- this is a once in a lifetime chance people!" Another oncoming slather of muffled tittering echoed, Meowth sounding like he was trying so hard to keep his laughter at bay as the cat clutched his stomach.
"But you're laughing up a storm there..." Present Mic commented confusedly, finally making Meowth cackle into a fit, laying on his side on top of the table. Pikachu groaned, he just wanted this to be over, expression twisting tiredly in your tight embrace.
Tsuyu gave a small eye-smile at the scene. The frog-girl wasn't necessarily the person with the most smiles, nor was she the coldest, but there's no denying that she's finding herself smiling more widely than the norm. And to be honest, she can't find a reason to stop as she watches you snuggling an embarrassed Pikachu with a small laugh.
She let out a happy croak.
For now, the cheerleading situation seemed to have subsided as students continued to trill in. Midoriya stood grounded in his spot, his earlier blood-rushing experience still leaving him a tad dizzy, as he stared at your cherry form with your Pokémon softly. Midoriya's heart finally calmed down at the sight, as he placed a hand on it placidly.
"Midoriya-kun?" Iida came by, arriving at the field just in time, as he walked towards the stiff male. "You don't look so well, are you going to be alright?"
"Ah-yes! I'll be fine." Midoriya felt like he had a weird dream, and the only thing he felt was embarrassment for some reason. Oh well, everything finally seemed to be pacified when he suddenly picked up the sound of Kaminari and Mineta murmuring to each other.
"At least we got the girls...though it's too bad we couldn't convince (Last)..." Mineta murmured in mission success. The tiny teen was still reeling over the outfits with blood gushing out of his nose, as Kaminari listened in. "But sadly she found us too skeptical..."
"Well, she's really smart, so it's not surprising." Kaminari's response earned him a small knowing look from the midget, but alas, their conversation ended just like that with Kaminari keeping silent. Midoriya, who heard the gist of it, suddenly was swarm with thoughts. It's pretty usual for him, but when the thought of you in a cheerleading outfit came up. Looking at him with your bright smile.
Well...He became deceased.
"Midoriya-kun, get a hold of yourself!"
Pikachu continued his grumbling with his chin propped on top of your right shoulder, wondering when you'll stop smothering him after minutes passed. It took some time until you finally pulled the mouse away at arms-length, Pikachu ready to just get back on the ground to get some of his dignity back. Pikachu's annoyed eyes gazed at you, wondering what you had to say.
Then he blinked, the annoyance washing away as he took in your expression.
"Pikachu..." You smiled lightly, but your lack of excitement made the mouse even more concerned. You looked at him in a deeper meaning. "Let's complete our goal."
Pikachu's large eyes had continued to eye your expression, trying to access what was going on, before you slowly pulled the mouse back into a hug, squeezing tightly. The mouse simply peered at the back of your head with worriedness, frowning. "...Pika?"
『 Chapter Thirty-Four 』
"Now, it's time for a fun recreational event!" The events were finally moving along, as Present Mic started the explanation. "After this, seventeen players from the four teams will compete in the final stage, tournament style, on a one-on-one battle!"
"Now we're talking!" Meowth boasted.
You stood around your classmates, silently eyeing the screen displayed above with interest. Kirishima, who was standing by your side, had his hands tightly clenched in front of him, his pupils shaking in unbridled elation. "The final is a one-on-one battle tournament?" He let out an exhilarated exhale, "I can't believe I get to stand on the stage that I've seen on TV every year..."
"But we're already on 'stage', Kirishima-kun." You inputted as if it was obvious, continuing your words with a lack of heart. "Once we entered the arena, we're already part of the show and showing our skills to the pros."
"Ah-!" Kirishima agreed as he clenched one of his fists in a thrill. He gave an unwavering response back. "But this is where the real battle begins!"
Upon listening to his dauntless words, you peered over at the male, eyeing the way he was completely enraptured by the screen in transparent merriment. His eyes were filled with a resolve that had your eyes softening, a smile pulling on the corner of his lips at the sheer 'Kirishima-ness' emitting out of him.
Yet you find yourself pulling your gaze away from him, remembering your resolve with a small nod.
"-bout you, (Last)?"
You shifted your gaze quickly back to the red-head, who was now staring deeply into your own eyes, making you jump. Pikachu, who had taken himself back on to your shoulders, eyed you curiously as you stumbled in your next words. "Oh, uh..."
"Kirishima here was just asking," Sero, who was standing beside the red-head, craned his neck past said redhead's shoulders and gave you an easygoing grin. "If you're excited about the one-on-one battle too?"
"Oh-!" You fixed the duo with a small smile. You hummed, thinking about it for a second. "I guess?"
"Still nervous?" Sero filled in, as Kirishima's confused eyes drifted to you and Sero's form. "I get you, this is the most important event for the Sports Festival. It's where you actually have to prove yourself."
"Prove yourself, huh?" You murmured, taking in his words slowly. The two others didn't seem dithered by your obscure response, when Mina piped in curiously behind them, moving their attention away. Pikachu cooed by your ear, but you just give him a small grin that made the mouse smile back quietly. You murmur silently in your mulling, gazing forward. "Prove yourself..."
"Tch-," You hadn't felt it before, but you suddenly were able to feel a presence beside you. That, someone, must have just appeared, because you were sure no one was there a minute ago, as you took notice of the appearance of the slouched-form of the class's delinquent.
Bakugo eyes were fixed to the screen, only taking a small gander at you once he felt your burning gaze. The sight of him made your expression drop completely, as you purposely twist your head away slowly, following the example of what Monoma did, as the male grew irked. "You-!"
"Shh-," You interrupted aloofly, in fact just purposely riling up the blond more.
"Don't tell me what to do-!"
"Shhh-!" Bakugo begrudgingly listened with a grit of his teeth at your insistence, causing you to smirk a bit. Guess that's a win for you.
Or maybe not, as you hadn't overlooked the other annoying figure behind Bakugo, standing silently in contemplation. It looks like Todoroki is here as well, causing you to drearily sigh. You just had to stand near the two aggressive guys this sports festival, didn't you?
You turned to the guys chattering on your right. Oh well, you're just thankful Kirishima and Sero were there.
As Midnight got back up onto the stage, she held on to a box holding the lots. You supposed upon that it means the pairings are determined by lottery, but that leads you to a puzzling conclusion. 17 people were taking the battle, and that meant there was an odd man out. Midnight had probably figured the question swirling in some of the students' minds, including yours, and started addressing it.
"Soon we'll begin to draw lots to determine the pairings. Once the pairings are determined, the battle will start after recreational." Midnight stood stout in the stage before her eyes glinted mischievously, which doesn't seem like a good thing. "However, as you probably figured, there's a single person without a partner. To explain, this year's one-on-one battle is going to be a little different!"
A few noisy murmurs began circling. Kirishima even wondering under his breath. "Oh...so is it going to be another handicap like in the Cavalry battle?"
"Most likely..." You muttered back, Pikachu eyeing the screen with wide eyes. Sero hummed, listening to both your murmurs silently.
"For this game, one member from the losing team," That would be Shinso's teams, you noted. "-will be cut out of the first round." Another round of curious mutters began, as you listened closely to Midnight.
"The sixteen remaining participants will continue to battle it out in the first round, and once the winner is determined, the losing participants will be disqualified." It was pretty standard stuff in your mind, as the crowd continued on and on. But Midnight held up a hand to ask for silence. Once the crowd quietens down, she finally enlightened the catch. "However, out of popular vote from the crowd here in this lovely arena, 3 contenders that have lost the first round, with the excluded student, will be given a chance to prove themselves once again!"
It was a much louder chatter now, as apparently, the crowd will be playing a part in choosing this round. The students around you were voicing curiously, the ones who will be contending in the event had their gears turning.
"Oh, so that's how they're utilizing 17 members..." You voiced lowly among the crowd, placing a hand thoughtfully under your chin. Kirishima was quick to listen in for your explanation, Sero basically leaning passed Kirishima's space to listen. Perhaps someone else was also listening in, but you didn't take any note of that. "The 1 participants who won't be joining the first round will be grouped together with the 3 other contenders that have lost."
"That means...?" Kirishima still hadn't fully caught up.
Sero paused, before replying. "3 losing contenders gaining another chance due to popular vote, and 1 cut-out contender...are going to battle?"
"It means," You expounded slowly, hoping to clear things up for the duo, "That the 4 will compete in another one-on-one battle to find who would be worth to compete again until 2 victors emerge, and joins the 2nd round winners."
It was funny to see Kirishima trying to connect the dots, his face completely blanking out to process your words, before he perked. "So at the 2nd round, instead of supposedly 8 students, there will be 10 students competing? Because, 2 students who lost in the first round, but won the supplementary round will be given a chance to join the main battle?"
You nodded kindly, letting out a noise of confirmation. "All the candidates in the first round will need to appease the crowd during their battle as losing now has become not a total loss." You perked your head up to curiously eye Midnight. "Demonstrating your skills to the audience will show them that you deserve another chance and earn you an opportunity to show off your prowess. Of course, that is if the audience mostly chooses you."
"Hmm-! I see!" Sero muses, smirk rising as he gained his bearings. He moved away from Kirishima, who wasn't necessarily feeling in the same wave-length.
"T-That's-," Kirishima seemed to be at lost comprehending the games' disadvantage and advantage now. "That's going to be a bit tough..."
There was a sense of unease crossing over Kirishima's voice. It reminded you of when you met Kirishima for the first time, the same sounding insecurity somehow making an appearance, as you gave him a look. Kirishima appeared confident, but you heard the little bluff.
Slightly understanding Kirishima's long-time insecurity, you knew how the little snippet of it had returned was due to Kirishima's lack of confidence in his 'average' quirk. Thinking, that if he lost, he won't get another chance again for no one would vote for him. You looked away, mind swirling, before deciding to confront. "Hmm? What happened to that bravado I saw just a few minutes ago?"
Your question made Kirishima actually drawback in surprise, eyeing you with big eyes. You tilted your head curiously, giving the male a raised brow expectantly. "If you're already expecting to lose, then you already lost." You explained, Pikachu giving Kirishima a look as if to back you up. "Am I right...?" You tilted your head knowingly.
Kirishima pulled his gaze to the grassy ground for a moment, contemplating your words, before he pulled his head up determinedly again, the fire awakened. "Right!"
You grinned at him, giving a slow nod, before listening to Midnight's explanation. "With this, the 2 participants who had won the supplementary round would join the rest of the participants in the following round." Midnight gave each student a serious yet kind look, "This will be the only chance losing participants would continue in the event. Participants who have lost in the 2nd round will not be given the same opportunity." But then Midnight's visage brightened, giving the crowd a beaming smile, pressing her clasped hands to her cheek. "For any uneven pairings the further along within the events, we'll even them out with a luck-based lottery!"
'It might seem unfair to some, but perhaps the school wants to showcase the unfairness of some situations, like what Aizawa-sensei said in the quirk apprehension test.' You thought to yourself, muting the sound around you. 'But it looks like it's also a ploy to even out the pairings, and give some students who might not have been given time to show off in the first round a second chance. But that leaves the person who's cut off from the first round with the least chances to advance.'
"The 17 finalists can choose whether or not to participate in the recreation, as some may want to rest or save their strength." The 18+ hero concluded, finally about to get into the lottery pairings and the choosing of the singled out participants. "Now then," Midnight's sharp eyes glazed the ground for the 4th team from the Cavalry battle, "Which member will-?"
"Umm-excuse me?" Somewhere a little away from you, Ojiro suddenly called out. He had a sullen look. "I'd like to withdraw."
Gasps were resounded, your classmates were quite frankly shocked by this revelation. Your eyes quickly shifted to Ojiro, disbelief rushing through your veins before they drifted to Shinso, who appeared equally as dumbstruck before his expression turned impassive. Midoriya was the first the interrupt.
"Ojiro-kun! why?"
"The pros are going to be watching." Iida tried to induced, but Ojiro had already made up his mind.
"I...barely have any memory of the Cavalry battle until the very end. It was probably that guy's quirk..." You once again had turned your attention towards Shinso, gauging his reaction, but the purple-haired boy decided to dismiss it and turn away. "I know this is a big chance," Ojiro clarified, clenching a fist tightly. "I know it's foolish to throw this chance away, but this is where everyone has fought to give their all-"
Your gaze narrowed, eyes downcast for a moment as Ojiro continued his rant. "I can't...stand there while I don't know what's happening." The girls standing behind him tried to reason with him once more, explaining that he should just give good results and show that he deserves it, but he just... "...This is about my pride; I can't do it."
You slowly crossed your arms, letting out a low sigh. Well, this was a surprising turn of events. It wasn't long for Shoda from class B, who was coincidentally also in Shinso's team, wanted to forfeit for the same exact reason. You patted Kirishima's left arm once he began tearing up, brows furrowing at his shift in emotions as he yelled out.
"What's with these guys? They're so manly!"
Now that both the students have stated their peace, it was up to Midnight, as the referee, to decide on whether to allow the two to forfeit or to make them join the games. Midnight gave a long thoughtful look towards the participants, before saying. "That kind of youthful talk is something," Suddenly whipping down her whip as a grin blossomed on her face. "-that I like! I accept Shoda's and Ojiro's withdrawal!"
Pikachu sweat-dropped at Midnight's explanation, more so of her odd reasoning's in acceptance, as Midnight busied herself to finding the two members that need to be filled in. She was about to suggest Kendo's team, but Kendo decided,
"If that's the case, instead of us who barely moved during the cavalry battle," Kendo drawled, considering the option, before looking for her teammates' confirmation. When they agreed, she suggested. "Shouldn't it be Tetsutetsu's team who fought to keep their top spots until the end?"
Tetsutetsu's team seemed stunned, especially the steel-boy, who was overwhelmed by the kindness. You smiled a bit, remembering how Tetsutetsu's team pursued your group almost to the end. You nodded a little, yes, Tetsutetsu's team deserves it.
In the end, Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki was the one who filled in the space and completed the 17 finalists.
"Since we've already solved this case, now it's time to figure out who will be the one who'll automatically be moved to the supplementary round. Has the 4th team decided-,"
"Excuse me Midnight-sensei?" Midnight almost wanted to get annoyed by getting interrupted once more but halted when she realized just who the person calling out to her was. The people surrounding you had their eyes glued to your form, as you eyed the teacher curiously. "Does the person excluded from the 1st round have to be from the 4th team?"
It was silent, as Midnight hummed in thought. "Well, no. It is by default left to the last team, as this gives a huger disadvantage, but it's not a rule set in."
"Oh, I see." You mused, eyeing around curiously. You seemed to be thinking for just a second, as Pikachu gave you a confused look. What were you trying to do? "Then, there's no trouble," You gave a side-eye to Bakugo who returned the favor, "-If I volunteer, am I correct?"
A second-round of collected gasps followed through, you could feel Kirishima's and Sero's gaping faces as their eyes burned your figure, as Midoriya turned to you with worry. "(Last)-san?"
You didn't give your friends and any of the other classes stare any attention, focusing your gaze towards Midnight, who let out a low hum. The teacher placed the whip she held under her chin, sky blue eyes glancing away in deep thought. She finally fixed you a serious stare, "It isn't against protocol, but are you sure? You would be at a disadvantage, even though your team had won the Cavalry."
"That's fine by me." You simply put it, confident as Pikachu's little coo had you smiling at it, causing the Pikachu to simply tilt his head in bewilderment.
"(Last)-san, I understand your enthusiasm," Iida decided to try again, he failed to convince Ojiro but perhaps he could talk you out. "But this would truly detriment your chances to advance."
"Y-Yeah, you don't really have to do that y'know?" Sero inputted, a tad nervously.
"(Last)-san, I thought..." Midoriya pushed forward, a sense of confusion filling his mind. They won the last round, so there was no need for this. Midoriya thought you wanted to compete in the 3rd round, so why put yourself in the least likely slot to win? Midoriya pondered, clamping his mouth shut.
Tsuyu filled in quietly from her spot behind. "...Are you sure about this?"
You smiled at all of them, unaffected by their persuasion as you said. "I'm glad I have such good friends that care, but there's really no need." You seemed completely calm by this. "It's a pretty small disadvantage, so I see no trouble, after all," This time you had obviously fixed your smirk to both Bakugo and Todoroki. "and I'm not that doubtful of my abilities to lose so fast."
Whether you had only meant that to the duo or not, it was obvious a small declaration to everyone you'll be competing with, leaving them baffled. Bakugo as expected grew even more peeved, letting out a low deep-resounding, "Hah?" that sounded way more menacing than expected. Your eyes then shifted to the half-hot, half-cold classmate, expecting to see Todoroki's usual icy stare. However, you were instead simply greeted by a normal glare, a little far too normal.
The unusualness of it put you off for a moment, but you continued, turning your head away from them to appoint to Sero, who jerked in surprise. "Sero-kun, you asked me before if I was nervous." You stated, smiling as Kirishima was now gazing at you with furrowed brows. "To answer your question, it's completely the opposite." You crossed your arms tightly, letting out a small shrug, smirk widening. "This is my declaration of war."
"YOWW-!" Present Mic loudly commentated, as Meowth's eyes seemed to have widened upon listening in. "Things are already heating up and the 1 vs 1 hasn't even begun!"
"...Boss...is really pulling through!" Meowth commented slowly. His voice sounded upbeat as per usual, but there was unease to it too. Sure he knew you had your confident moments, but this seems a bit much even for you. Meowth bit the corner of his mouth.
"...Thoroughly, I hadn't expected this." Midnight remarked after a considerable silence, she kept a critical expression, as she moved her whip down in another snap. But her smile gave her intentions right away, "But who am I to cut into this youthful proclamation." She pointed up her whip to you, "(Last) (Name) will be exempted from the first round, and moved to the supplementary round!"
With that, you stood beside a confused array of classmates, Bakugo's blazing hatred just simply oozing out of him next to you, and you wouldn't be surprised if Bakugo had lasers for eyes, you'd be completely obliterated. Nonetheless, Todoroki's lack of coldness still left you a bit baffled, as earlier you were sure he was after your throat. You glanced at him from time to time, but the half-hot half-cold boy didn't take notice as Midnight moved along the pairing for the last game.
"The pairing based on the lots," Midnight concluded, bringing your curious attention to the screen. She dramatically pointed her whip forward. "-Looks like this!"
In a flicker, the screen showcasing at first empty slots were now filled in with your upcoming rivals' names. Cheers erupted, and you were left squinting at the screen curiously. Though you were excluded from this round, your name appeared in an empty slot on the right, where 3 other students' names would be filled in, it didn't stop you from getting curious about what the game has in store.
In a turn of events, Tetsutetsu and Kirishima somehow were pitted together, causing the two to actually shout in the ridiculousness of it all. There was an interesting matchup between both Tokoyami and Yaoyorozu, who both have remarkable quirks, and an exciting match between Aoyama and Mina.
Todoroki and Sero were paired together, and you felt bad by how certain you were of the outcome of the match, as you wondered briefly what Hatsume is planning to do with her match against Iida. Kaminari was pitted against Shiozaki, a part of you wondering how Kaminari would overcome this before you looked at Bakugo and Uraraka slots, making you internally wince worriedly- poor Uraraka. That leaves you with the last pairing of the first round, as you read their names.
'Midoriya and Hitoshi huh?' You thought, eyes peering over at the green-haired boy first, who was mumbling his paired up rival's name only for said person to appear behind him. Hitoshi and Midoriya seemed to have a small conversation before Ojiro in odd haste covered Midoriya's mouth with his tail. The exchange was strange, as your eyes narrowed at your middle-school friend who walked away.
Nonetheless, you have something to do. You turned to regard the mouse taking refuge on your shoulder, watching as the cheerleading-dressed creature, noticing the outfit made your lips quirk in amusement, blinked curiously. "Pikachu, I need you to get the things okay?" Pikachu quirked his head, as you continued, "I think I left them in the locker room, be quick!"
Pikachu nodded, giving you a serious approval, before he hopped down from your shoulder, scampering towards the locker room in hasty steps. You smiled, now giggling a bit louder at the adorably dressed mouse. Now all there's left is to get ready, but before you could do so, a hand was placed on to your shoulder, as you were greeted with a worried Kirishima, who had his brows furrowed. "(Last), are you okay?"
You gave him a strange look. "Of course, why wouldn't I be?" You blinked a little dazedly. You hadn't the slightest idea why he was asking this as Kirishima eyed you seriously. You looked around as if trying to find the answer around you before you questioned uncertainly. "Uh-shouldn't you be preparing for the match?"
"Well yeah!" Kirishima answered, uncomfortably messing with his collar or lack-of-there collar. You never really noticed it before, but the top collar of his gym uniform had been completely destroyed, leaving a jagged ripped probably from when he used his quirk as Kirishima frowned. "You just..." The red-head gazed at you unsurely. "You don't sound okay..."
You tried to gauge what was your sharp-toothed friend of yours trying to implicate, wondering a bit yourself. You were okay. You were definitely okay...you just-, "I just have a lot in mind right now..." You answered, still smiling at him. Kirishima seemed to nod at that answer, slowly and a bit hesitantly, before you uplifted. "Now, don't think about anything else but the game Kirishima-kun. We're rivals now, so I wish you luck."
Kirishima grinned broadly, forgetting his worry. "Ah!" He agreed wholeheartedly, "Back at you!"
"But...I do have a small favor," You chipped in before Kirishima could really get ready. The red-head tilted his head curiously, leaning in closely to hear you. He truly is like a puppy sometimes, you thought for a moment before you poked a finger onto his chest. "Watch me first."
The statement made the usually grinning pup confused again, as he took in your request. He answered awkwardly, "Uh-Okay (Last)-chan, but you do know that I'm going to be combating first right? Unless you're just going to start watching my second match or-,"
You chuckle, you leaned in closer, Kirishima's heart thudding erratically as he stumbled in his words. "Just cheer for me okay?" You repeated your request differently, leaving Kirishima to swallow, before nodding.
"O-Oh, definitely! Of course, I will." Kirishima replied confidently, as you gave him a nod. With finally the lots out of the way, the recreational games are up, however...
"Alright, let's put the tournament away for a while so we can have a break!" Present Mic comes in, strangely enough, the students that were still crowding the middle were asked by the teachers helping Midnight to move to the sidelines. "But before our recreational games-,"
"Let's give it up to boss, who's going to give a performance you have never seen before!" Meowth shouted out, this time, the teacher letting the feline start the introduction. Meowth gave a Cheshire grin, the screen showcasing his Meowth-ish look, pointing a finger to the screen as he continued. "Think of it as a small treat, as this will be the first-ever Pokemon show for your eyes only!"
'Meowth...' Your smile twitched uncomfortably. The pressure is truly on, as you stood on center field. You shook that pressure to give a wider smile, feeling a tad mirthful at the interested gazes pinpointed on to you. You waited silently, nodding assuringly at your classmates' questioning looks.
As you were distracted, you began hearing Pikachu's loud squeaking, causing you to look back. Pikachu was scampering towards you fast, dragging a marginally large pouch with him. You quickly noted that he was bare, the cheerleading outfit removed. Pikachu came to you, as you bent down to greet it.
"Thank you, Pikachu." You petted the mouse, Pikachu giving you a hearty squeak, before nodding firmly at you in encouragement. You smiled, "Mm! I'll do my best!" You answered, as Pikachu seemed to gleam at your answer, however it was quick to turn to disdain with your next statement. "But now I'm sort of disappointed that you're not using the cheerleading uniform."
Pikachu grew irked, huffing loudly You laughed a bit, "Sorry, sorry." Pikachu huff again, but this time he was quick to nuzzle your side affectionately, bumping you in a last effort of encouragement, before scampering away towards where your classmates are. You smiled as you watch it walk off.
You peered into the pouch Pikachu handed. With this, you were ready.
You smirked to Meowth, eyeing his small form on the far booth as he grinned, the screen showcasing his every move. Meowth's wide smile showed his fangs, as he pointed a finger to the camera again. "Here we go, folks!" The camera panned towards your ready form. "Introducing the first-ever..." You pulled down the three Pokeballs in your hand, "Coordinating show!"
In sync, you threw your three pokeballs up into the air, eyeing up the rising balls spinning before you pointed at them confidently. "Come out, Sylveon, Gardevoir, Buneary!"
Upon your calls, the pokeballs opened right up, and you grinned as the three Pokémon's figure started to take form. You watched as the taller figure of both began appearing in the middle, her stern red eyes focusing as she seemed to majestically twirl down into place, her green visage pleasing to the eye. Gardevoir landed carefully onto the ground, her lower half swishing in movement.
The two other Pokémon quickly followed after on either side of Gardevoir, as on the right your trusted Eevee-turned-Sylveon shimmering blue eyes gleaming underneath the burning sunlight. The creature looked to be galloping down from the height, landing on her front paws firsts, her colorful pastel scheme of white, pink, and blue seemingly contrasting the green around her. On Gardevoir's left, the last member was small in size, twirling in mid-air animatedly to reveal a cute brown bunny with a fluffy underside. It's perked ear twitching adorably as it bounced on the ground with a happy smile. Buneary cheerily hopped from one leg to the other in excitement, sparkling amidst her surroundings.
With that, the team stood in front of you, stylishly and proudly.
The crowd cooed at the appearance of three new Pokémon, curious and excited at the new development. The flicker of cameras won't shut down, but you chose to ignore it in favor to give a proud smile, as your eyes even caught your classmates, who most were staying on the sidelines in awe. Pleased with the entrance and the captured interest, you winked at a marveling Kirishima, clarifying your earlier words, as the man in question cheeks reddened before you pointed a finger up.
"Here we go!" You cried out, loud enough that hopefully at least your voice could be heard by most of the crowd, as you sent them a gleaming smile with attention placed on you. "Let's give it all we got!"
"Gardevoir!"
In less than even a second, Gardevoir raised her arm, eyes gleaming as everyone watched the show that was about to start. You smiled, before crying out in a cheer. "-Misty Terrain!"
In a blink of an eye, the ground beneath Gardevoir puffed out like clouds, a misty dew overlapping the whole ground. It was like a land of clouds, a mistiness that could be noticed if you only looked closely. It was as if the grounds had completely changed from the grass to a cloud-like wonderland.
The crowd awed, amazed by the change in terrain. It must've been quite mystical to everyone watching, truly fitting to be called, 'Never seen before'.
Present Mic whistled, "Look at that, you could barely see the ground!" as Aizawa leaned down, trying to see what's going on while our resident cat seemed smug. The cat grinned sneakily, waving a paw off in a leisurely way, "Terrain changing is a simple task for Pokémon y'know?"
Both you and Gardevoir stood with the mist covering you from the knee down, similarly, the students watching from the sidelines could barely see their shoes as you eyed the now hidden Sylveon and Buneary with a small snickering grin.
"Sylveon, Buneary, let's charm them!"
With the two smaller Pokémon hidden beneath the mist, the duo popped out of their hiding spots at the exact same time, showing their adorableness to the spectators as a wave of mist burst after them. Buneary quickly strikes a charming little pose, leg's kicked up happily while Sylveon had her ribbons dancing around in elation. A burst of clamoring from the throng came, as you can hear some of the girls on the side cooing high-pitchedly.
Once again, they were quick to disappear back into the mistiness, gravity pulling them as you called out, "Buneary baby-doll eyes! Sylveon tail whip!"
'Let's get them with the cuteness first-!' you smiled inwardly, as the duo once again went back out from their spots, now much farther from the center. Buneary was the first to hop out with a delightful cry, before fixating the crowd with a far-too-adorable expression, another round of praise bursting out. When Buneary was done with her small act, Sylveon burst out from her side, swishing her tail cutely as you watched as the crowd was charmed. With this, even the most unimpressed people couldn't help but relax at the charms.
"starting with the charms from our resident cute squad~!" Meowth cheered, and Present Mic can't help but think how it's sorta sweet for the cat to be this supportive. That's when Meowth took it to the next level by bringing up a ranking sign written with the number 10. "10 points for cuteness!"
"Where'd you get that?!" Present Mic question, but Meowth was already pushing a board to Present Mic's face, dropping the other on Aizawa's lap.
"Never mind that, give us some pointers!"
"Gardevoir," You fixed, who was already prepared, "Life dew!"
Though it's a recovery move, you can't deny the amazement you feel seeing it as Gardevoir twisted down in a move, her movement fluent as the flowing water of the river as she rose in her movement to scatter water in all direction, like a bursting fountain as it rained down on the layering haze. The move had the ground slightly covered in droplets of water, which had the 3 Pokémon seemingly rejuvenated, the duo Pokémon still keeping up their small acts. Now that the Pokémon did their charm, it's time to get to the fun parts.
You outstretched your hand to your Gardevoir, "Gardevoir, dazzling gleam!" A reason you knew Gardevoir would suit this thing was the fact that Gardevoir was just seemingly majestic in everything she does, you watched as she conjured her power before shooting a powerful flash that brightens the slightly dulled misty stadium, a stupefied cry of amazement echoing the stadium.
"Sylveon Mystical fire," You had the smallest hesitation and worry if it'll work out well since Sylveon had just begun learning it. But Sylveon who trained hard from her spot in the middle conjured out a fire breath, taking a deep inhale before it fired out large enough for it to be quite spectacular, as Sylveon made it into a small ring of fire while Buneary jumps into the hole performing a double kick in the air.
'If it's a circus you want...it's circus you'll get.' Once Gardevoir had dazzled the stadium with her flash, she was again moving fluidly, scattering water once more. The mixture of the water dance and the fire ring was something you never thought you would ever see as Buneary continued hopping in and out of the fire hoop, performing cool moves that still had the expression of cuteness Buneary had.
Once Buneary was done with her small but frankly powerful kick act, she landed right into your arms. She cheered once you captured her as she glomps you happily. You drew back in surprise, but you were quick to let it go as you ordered with an uncontainable smile.
"Haha-Sylveon Magical leaf, Gardevoir Swift!" You were left holding Buneary reassuringly as Sylveon and Gardevoir from their respectful spots began releasing their moves into the sky. Sylveon conjured leaves, that floated in front of her at first, before shooting upward. Gardevoir was quick to follow suit, a ray of star-shapes. From one side to the other, the beams met each other, combining a beautiful starry-leafed combo that made you gleam as cheers echo.
"Woah-," Present Mic clapped, seemingly excited, but Meowth interrupted. "But it's not over yet!"
Buneary all of a sudden jumped out of your hold, causing you to wonder what that was about. But it was the final move set. You worked on this with the Pokémon for a while, as the 3 Pokémon seemed to prepare themselves. You shouted, "Last ones' guys, Sylveon Moonblast, Gardevoir Focus Blast, and Buneary, Bounce high!"
Gardevoir prepared herself, her eyes sharpening as she mentally began preparing a blast, but this time, instead of aiming them to the sky, she aimed it towards Sylveon. The evolved Eevee followed suit, aiming towards Gardevoir as Sylveon used the power from the currently unavailable moon. Yet even with the inaccessible moon, it felt like the moon was with her, gleaming its dull but strangely mystical light behind her as Sylveon prepared to charge it out. In a swift motion, the two blasts erupted with a small battle cry from Sylveon.
The two blasts burst to each other, a small bright explosion, not quite roguish like Bakugo's, spectacularly exploded in front of them, showing an incredible feat of power as right at the moment they collided, Buneary bounced out high into the air. It was high enough that the on watchers could see the bunny.
You blinked, noticing something as Buneary twirled in the air as if comfortable away from the ground to reveal herself in the very same adorable cheerleader outfit you were seeing on a certain mouse. You felt a burst of choke laughter rising from your throat, now knowing what happened with Pikachu's outfit. It was not a part of the act, but it was acceptable as it showcased a new sense of adorableness that bedazzled the crowd, Buneary staying in the air a little longer, before plummeting down onto the ground.
You were sure it was aiming for its second move, a drop onto the ground that will damage any surrounding members in the field. Buneary was rushing to the ground in a spin like she was doing a cheerleading move and as she was about to reach the ground powerfully, it was stopped short just a few inches from the ground.
With the sudden intervention of Buneary entering the layer of mist, the mist waved off, creating a circle plot of greenery as Buneary was hovered into the air by Gardevoir, who used her psychic power to keep the creatures afloat. With that Buneary blankly landed on the ground, looking in confusion. Silence engulfed the arena.
"...Now that's some powerful kicks! Reminds me of the famous pro Miruko!" Meowth cheered, as Present Mic gaped.
Present Mic exclaimed, looking incredibly baffled. "Wait, what just happened, I can barely keep up with the whole show!" Meowth only grinned, laying back, holding up an even bigger ranking with a serious nod.
"Yeah, definitely 100 for this!"
Aizawa sighed, it was hard to deceiver what he was feeling with his whole face bandaged up, but Meowth had a feeling Aizawa was entertained at the very least. Meowth teasingly elbowed the dark-haired teacher, who only ignored him.
You didn't hold yourself back from picking up the adorable cheerleading bunny, laughing uncontrollably. And right at that moment, after the dull silence from Buneary's powerful move, the crowd burst into applause and cheer. Gardevoir and Sylveon were quick to rush to the middle to meet you, the mist already subsiding as you smiled at the two Pokémon.
"You guys did great!" You couldn't control it, a part of you feeling at ease. To think that besides training, the show you had to try to come up with a routine to showcase during the Sports festival would be the most worrisome for you. In the end, the routine was a success, you smile brightly at the two Pokémon who smiled softly back at you before you bounced the confused Buneary in your arms. "Now I wonder whose great idea was it to use Pikachu's cheerleading outfit as the last act?"
Buneary was entirely unremorseful, puffing herself proudly in her clothes, only for you to shake your head.
"No but seriously, what happened?" Present Mic continued to say in bafflement, as Meowth leisurely turned his attention to the camera.
"I'm sure ya'll are curious about the 3 Pokémon! But let's save that for the next half-time. After we get this guy's brain fixed up let's get right to the recreational games!" Meowth cheered, able to move things along as planned before inputting quickly. "Let's give it up one more time!"
You rolled your eyes a bit, before bowing down as the stadium applauded. A flash of ease completely washed over you, and you could only hope that things will go well. As you held Buneary in your arms, you took small glances to Sylveon and Gardevoir, the duo following you in your bow, as your smile softened.
With that, you walked off from the center stage, as the staff and teachers began readying the area for the recreational event. Your friends were whooping, probably wanting to congratulate you. You were about to head there after heading away from the center, when you felt a slim arm around your shoulders, Midnight's voice cooing beside you. "(Last)-chan, that was amazing! Superb, A+!" She smiled at you brightly.
You jumped in surprise, "O-Oh Midnight-sensei, thank you." You said, as Midnight gleamed, her onyx eyes sending you clear interest, as she remembered something.
"Your show reminded me of the time when us pro-heroes once put on a performance in the Tokyo sky egg for a foreign hero." Midnight reminiscence, she let a small smile. "It was truly spectacular."
"I'm glad it reminded you of something fun."
"Oh it sure did," Midnight chuckled, the teacher looked like she wanted to ask something, but upon noticing your tired face, she decided against it for now. Peering over at the younger's face before looking around. "You look tired dear; why don't you head somewhere to rest with the Pokemon for a bit?"
"Ahh...It's fine. The others probably want to talk to me..." You smiled, but the tiredness finally caught up. You can't believe that from all the events of the day, from the Race to the Cavalry battle, to the chase with Tetsutetsu and Kendo and finally, the coordinator show, that your body decided now was the time you needed to take a break. Midnight seemed to notice the weariness, quickly ushering you out with a smile.
"Now, now, it's not good to lie to your body~" Midnight gleamed, pushing you along as the Pokemon trailed after in confusion. "I'm sure the rest will understand, I'll put in good word for you if the question, now get some rest~!" You blinked as you were pushed towards the gate, enforcing you to head out. But you felt no room to complain, as Midnight got ready for the next event.
Well, you supposed a break is needed, feeling a bit relieved by Midnight's kindness. You eyed the Pokémon too, knowing they probably would like to eat too. You noticed a scampering figure, as Pikachu made his way towards you happily. Your Pikachu was quickly hugged by Buneary, who seemed to still be happy about the outfit, which made the Pikachu whine. You chuckled. "Alright, let's go find a quiet area to relax at, you should eat too."
Your Pokemon perked, happily following after you as you walked past the gate.

As you disappeared out of the stadium, the crowd ecstatically discussing the mini-show, fumbling racing footsteps echoed in one of the dark entranceways. The figure looked like it got mauled in the process as he moved to the stadium with hurriedness.
Kaminari stopped short right in front of the entranceway, quickly noticing the empty middle area where a show was supposed to take place, and the rest of the student body just talking about something he couldn't follow happily. Kaminari stood like he took a small jaunt, eyes vacant of any soul, as he wearily watched one spot, which for some unexplainable reason was the spot you had been standing on.
"(Last) was so cool! I didn't think they could do things like that too!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"Mhmm, I wonder where she went off too." Sero commented right after, agreeing wholeheartedly with his signature triangle smile.
Sero and Kirishima were mindlessly walking his way, seemingly deeply talking about said 'event' when they noticed the unruly Kaminari, giving the electric boy confused looks. Sero was the first to question with a tilt of his head. "Yo, what happened to you?"
"...I missed it..."
All of a sudden Kaminari began crumbling-not legitimately of course, but onto his knees, his eyes still staring vacantly ahead as Kirishima jogged closer. "You okay bro?"
Kaminari then crumbled further, practically lying down the floor as tears began flowing out his sockets as he let out a pained. "Totally." Before dying, both Sero and Kirishima sending each other bewildered shrugs, before Kaminari seemed even louder, his clenched his fist pounding on the ground.
"I totally missed the show!"
Upon Kaminari's excruciating wail, Pikachu had watched the scene from the other side of the stadium deviously, a cackle rising out of its gut as an odd aura emitted from the usually happy-go-lucky Pokémon before he trotted away with small snickers. Revenge was truly sweet.

Crouched down by the side of the huge stadium wall, Todoroki continued to organize his thoughts alone surrounded by trees and bushes. The male in question kept his gaze down on the grass-plain ground, meditating and preparing himself for the upcoming 1-on-1 battle that will commence soon.
Todoroki took a deep breath, trying to empty his mind from all the unnecessary thoughts swirling in his head. His two-toned hair covered his eyes, as he shut them to relax. However,
You winced, staggering a bit on spot, as you pulled the wounded hand close to your face as if to inspect it. But just as quickly as you did, you moved the appendage close to your chest, ignoring the burnt to chat with Uraraka.
Todoroki's brow twinge, his expression twisting in irritation. He opened his eyes, aggravated at the memory. The recommended student in his unsettlement had abruptly dropped his gaze onto his hands, both hanging down from his knees. He then raised his arms, specifically his left arm, as he eyed it with scrutiny.
"..." He narrowed his eyes at the arm, before putting it down with a small sigh.
It looks like he won't be focusing before the match.
With another small soundless sigh, he raised his head to gaze at the sky. For most parts, he was glad that at least the place he chose to meditate had probably the least noise. It was quiet, except for the sound of the brushing winds and the small echoes of cheers coming from the stadium. Todoroki screwed up his eyes, ignoring all his senses to simply just listen.
Abruptly, he began hearing the sound of padded shoes getting closer. Todoroki's brow furrow, as the footsteps start getting louder, the crunches of grass being crushed under shoes. He hoped whoever was coming by would leave upon noticing his presence, so he could just deal with his thoughts alone.
"Pika!" Todoroki's eyes abruptly opened wide, slowly pulling down his head to eye the approaching individuals. He heard the scampering of the smaller animal, in fact, he heard a few others, as rounding the corner the little rodent-like creature appeared. The creature came out looking incredibly happy, before the mouse whirled to his company, a Brown-coated bunny and a 4-footed ribbon creature that followed it, with wide joyful eyes.
Todoroki blinked, watching as the odd creatures disregarded, or simply failed to catch, his presence as they eagerly played around, maneuvering onto the grassy terrain with little care, sometimes eyeing their behind to call over happily to someone. It wasn't long until the person they were calling rounded the corner with a Pokemon trailing behind them, and Todoroki was quick to realize it to be the person appearing in his thoughts.
You smiled at the creatures, also unnoticing said male, as you walked towards the trees. Todoroki can't help but pay close attention towards your form, gauging a reaction, or something he isn't even sure of, as his heterochromia eyes landed on your bandaged hand.
You brought along your bag, making sure to release all the Pokémon confined in the pokeballs, watching as the rest of your Pokémon came out, from Arcanine, who was quick to yawn loudly and rush by to nap by the tree, to Gardevoir who simply stood behind you silently. You called out, "Rest up you guys," You got down on your knees, pulling out some food and snacks, Todoroki noticed you were prepared as you even took out some bowls. "And eat up too!"
The smaller Pokémon were the first to cheer, trotting over you eagerly as you took out the food. The soothing figure that stood behind you kept still, watching your back curiously as it leaned over. Todoroki hadn't even noticed in his contemplativeness, but that very creature had slowly begun staring at him, a tinge of uncertainty in its gaze.
Todoroki recognizes the creature, as it was the one that partook in the event of the USJ. Gardevoir gave another contemplative stare, Todoroki felt glared at, but the calming look says otherwise as Gardevoir finally pulled its gaze away once it seemed certain of something of him.
You turned your head to the creature, telling her. "Gardevoir, you can go relax. You did well today."
Todoroki couldn't see your face from where he was crouching down as Gardevoir let out a small hum, moving away wordlessly. There was a tinge of sadness that seemed to follow the creature that Todoroki can't help but ponder about with narrowed eyes, as you were quick to focus back on the other creatures.
The half-and-half student at first was surprised that no one had noticed him as he wasn't in any particular hiding spot, but he soon realized that most were just simply not minding him. He knew he saw the green-psychic creature, Reuniclus, eye it with a small gurgle, as even the large dog-napping had glanced at him from time to time. The mouse and the ribbon-like creature had seemed to give him tilted heads, the former more cagily than the latter. Todoroki felt both at ease and wary, somehow at eased that the creatures didn't mind him, but feeling a bit intruding, even though he was the first to be here.
Todoroki's mitch-matched eyes once again landed on your form, watching the back of your head intensely. The only one that has yet to somehow notice him was seemingly you, who kept silent as your Pokémon played around the grass. He kept an eye on your pensive outward look, catching sight of your eyes once you tilted your head a bit in his direction.
It was focused, reminding the son of the 2nd Pro-hero that he wasn't the only one contemplating. Your (color) eyes were narrowed just a bit, watching your Pokémon in a glazed manner with a small frown. That look...
Todoroki's frown deepened.
Deciding that he's been hiding long enough, even if it was unintentional, he got back onto his shoes. The rustling of movement caught your attention as you whirled around in surprise, gaping at your classmate. "Oh god-!" You jumped back, a rather late reaction that made Todoroki tilt his head curiously, even though his expression spoke of his hawkishly observing. You eyed the boy, uncomfortably eyeing the area before appointing him with a small wary look. "You surprised me...Todoroki-san."
After the small coordinator show you were able to give out successfully, you wanted to let your Pokémon rest for a while. After all, they would be the main stars of the 1 vs 1, as you quickly let Pikachu guide you to a secluded place. It seemed perfect without prying eyes until you realize that Todoroki had been here first. You awkwardly looked away, watching as the Pokémon either ignored the tension or gazed at you curiously.
Apart of you wanted to just leave, since you guessed that Todoroki must be trying to relax on his own himself. However, another part of you didn't feel like going through all the trouble, especially with all the Pokémon enjoying their time. 'Why didn't Todoroki say anything if he was here the whole time?' you wanted to grumble, as you gazed at your classmate carefully.
Just like you expected, he was acting differently. He seemed quiet, which wasn't quite surprising. However, he felt unusually dim, not like the cold frost he's been sending out for the past few hours. There seems to be a lot going on in his mind, a part of you feeling uneasy with this softer side when Todoroki decided to fill in the silence.
"I was just leaving," Todoroki explained, not cutting any corners as his eyes grew once again slightly colder. The sight left you withdrawing a bit, but you can't shake off the sight of the obvious frustration held within them.
As Todoroki turned away, you opened your mouth to stop him, before wondering why you should? Was there a need to ask him if he's alright when your relationship with each other isn't exactly on good terms? You ended up clamping your mouth shut, watching as he walks away. Just when you thought he was going to leave, he halts.
"Vul-Vul~" A Pokémon yipped, as another let out a small yap, "Vul-pix!"
Your heart almost jumped out of your ribcage upon noticing the twin Vulpix gawping up the ice-hot classmate of yours, the fire-fox Pokémon biting on Todoroki's pants, while her ice counterpart simply looked at Todoroki with a gaze full of interest, enraptured by the cold boy. Todoroki, who had felt the pull of the cuff of his pants, glanced back, eyeing the two creature with a blank stare, if you had to describe it better, he actually looked a bit stunned.
"Ah-Vulpix! stop biting that!" You lightly scolded, rushing over as the fire Pokémon continued to clamp its tiny fangs on Todoroki's pants, as the male in question stayed silent to observe. You gently picked the reddish-furred creature, instinctively making it bite harder. You continued, "Vulpix!" You gaze up at your monotone classmate. "Sorry, Todoroki-! She's not usually like this."
You quickly went back to business, as in trying to get Vulpix to stop biting on people's pants, as Todoroki could only let out a dull sounding, "It's fine."
Todoroki eyed the scene with a seemingly uncomfortable face, unable to stop getting intrigued when he felt a small weight on his other leg, as now the pure-snow fox was pawing his knee with sparkling bright blue eyes. It cooed up at him, which you were quick to notice. "Alolan Vulpix, don't do that!"
Todoroki was beginning to feel a little awkward as two foxlike Pokémon gazed up at him with wide eyes. He looked from one, who refused to let go of the cuffs of his pants, to the other who continued to yip curiously at him as if it was waiting for an answer. For some reason, the rest of the Pokémon decided to ignore your misfortune, before you quickly called out to Sylveon, who was already walking over worriedly. "Sylveon, a little help please-!"
Sylveon, ever the so kind, swiftly trotted over, warily eyeing up the Todoroki boy for a mere moment, before the Pokémon pulled the snowish Vulpix from his leg by picking it up by the scruff, and you finally were able to open up Vulpix's jaw to release her hold on Todoroki gym pants.
Finally, both you and Todoroki looked relieved, as you held up the fire-vulpix, making sure it's comfortable in your hold. Alolan Vulpix cooed again, now feeling confused at being held away from the stranger. You quickly wanted this end, worrying for the worst when the fire Vulpix in your hold started whining, eyeing you with wide sparkling eyes. Looks like Vulpix decided to change tactics.
"Vulpix..." You sighed, watching as it continued whining while her counterpart Vulpix began emitting the same noises in Sylveon's hold, the larger fairy eeveelution eyeing down the fox-creature with a hint of worry. If you didn't know any better, Todoroki appeared even more awkward, twitching as the two fox Pokémon started to gaze at him with a sad expression.
Taking notice of the strange reaction Todoroki was giving, and after accessing the situation, you decided. "...Todoroki-san, if it's not too much trouble, can you stay here for a moment?" You reached a finger to scratch your cheek nervously, "Sorry, it looks like their quite captured with you and you did say you wanted to talk-,"
"It's fine," Todoroki answered, sounding like he needed all the extra effort to say so. The red-white haired boy was still stiffened in his spot, as his eyes were set on the two foxes, eyes glancing to the side uneasily. "...I'll stay."
You furrow your brows, "Alright, but if you're uncomfortable with the Vulpixs' you should tell me, I have a feeling they're going to clamber-,"
"It's fine." Todoroki automatically responded, turning away.
You blinked, as Todoroki awkwardly moved back into the small grassy-plains, appearing a little lost, but the two foxes were quick to perk, jumping out of your and Sylveon's grasp to trot after the heterochromia eyed boy. You turned towards an equally curious Sylveon, giving the once Eevee, a gentle pat on the head before following after.
The twin vulpix made it their mission to try to get Todoroki to follow them, as the boy in question slowly did so. He still looked incredibly lost. It was sort of...funny, which was a word you'd hardly expect to correlate with the esteemed cold Todoroki. You felt a small smile grow on your lips, a huff of laughter almost breaking out- who knew Todoroki had this awkward side to him, you supposed even he isn't immune to cute things.
Todoroki hesitantly followed the foxes under the sweltering sun, watching as the two try to pull him in two different directions at once. He was, quite frankly, not used to the situation, as he gazed at the duo cooing creatures awkwardly.
Deciding to ease Todoroki's burden, feeling a little less wary with this fumbling classmate's new side, you quickly directed the Vulpix, who perked their heads at your call. "Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix, don't swarm him. How about we all sit by the tree, okay?"
With your clear words, Vulpix diffused themselves away from Todoroki, moving towards the singular tree you pointed. They hopped in their quick movements, playing about to shove each other at times as they scampered away. You watched them carefully, before turning to see Todoroki doing the same. He quickly turned his attention to you. "Let's sit...?" You, still a tad uneasily, asked, as the silent male nodded.
You sat under the tree, eyeing the other Pokémon. Reuniclus was indulging in the small Pokémon: Pikachu, Sylveon, and Buneary, a little game of tag, as Arcanine was left on its own in his much-needed nap. You smiled before you found yourself drifting your sight to Gardevoir, who looked to be in her own world, enjoying the mild breeze brushing by.
Your earlier small smile slowly fell away, as you let out a small sigh.
Not long after, you felt the fleeting feeling of somebody next to you, as you turned to eye Todoroki getting comfortable beside you. Todoroki made sure to keep some space between you two, which you appreciated as it wasn't long until the Vulpix twins were quick to excitedly clamber up the boy's body once he's relaxed.
The fire Vulpix, who was a tad more adventurous compared to the other, was the first to climb up, trying to get on top of his legs. You looked over worriedly. "Are you sure about this? You don't have to really." You were about to pull Vulpix away gently, "They can be quite pushy, so I can make sure they don't climb you if it bothers you..." But Todoroki was quick to push your hand back, a strange placidness in his action, as he replied simply.
"It's fine." With those words, you let the Vulpix do as it pleases, seemingly trying to get higher. Todoroki decided to be benevolent, as he helped the creature up onto his shoulders. It wasn't long until Vulpix took matters into her own hands though, as she took quick work to climb up Todoroki's head as the boy kept his head down with a small jolt.
This time you really had to cover your mouth from your incoming snickers, as Todoroki held out his hands in case it fell, looking both mildly bewildered and incredibly stunned as Vulpix kicked herself up. With that, the fire-based fox stayed on his head, trying to find balance. Now came the other Vulpix, as Todoroki's heterochromia eyes watched the white-furred fox as it tried to follow her sister, only to fumble and fall back.
"..." Todoroki watched as the Pokémon yelped, before determinedly trying once more. It wasn't long until the Alolan Vulpix realized it won't be able to climb up just like her counterpart, looking downcast. You had a feeling Todoroki was eyeing you know, but you kept your eyes on the Alolan Vulpix, smiling at it.
"C'mon Alolan Vulpix, you can do it." You cheered, deciding to not care anymore since Todoroki had approved. The fire Vulpix yipped encouragingly from her spot, trying to get her sister to try again. With a last burst of determination, the snow-fox decided it needed momentum. Walking back, it was hasty to trot forward in a sprint, eyeing Todoroki as if he was an obstacle she must hurdle over, cue confused Todoroki stares, as the fox jumped.
And with that jump, it made it. Right into Todoroki's arms, who blankly looked down at the snuggling creature pressed to his chest. Vulpix blinked down too.
The blank look in Todoroki's face sealed the final deal for you, as you laughed, unable to help it any longer. "-Alolan Vulpix," you snorted, "Good job, you made it!" You reached over to brush your hand affectionately on the ice Pokémon's fur, said Pokémon yipping in response, before you reached over to the other Vulpix with small giggles escaping out of your mouth.
You grinned unconsciously at the surprise Todoroki, "They really seemed to like you Todoroki-kun, it's amazing." You sighed out, relaxing after seeing such a cute scene.
Todoroki eyed the creatures on him, before voicing out his thoughts. "Right..."
A comfortable silence enveloped you two, which was new and a little strange. You had never felt this unwind whenever you stood near the cold-hot-quirked classmate, always feeling the need to tense even when he never directed his coldness to you, way before he even began to direct it to you. You notice him paying attention to the nuzzling Alolan Vulpix in his arms. "...Y'know Todoroki," You carefully began, watching as Todoroki seemed to get comfortable. "I never imagined, out of all days, that this would happen."
Todoroki turned to you. "...Is it that strange?"
"Hmmm, a bit." You replied honestly, you shrugged your shoulders. You looked towards the snoozing Arcanine by another tree, who let out a loud yawn. "I mean, I'm sure you hadn't expected this either." Todoroki didn't give any response, but you had a feeling he was subtly agreeing.
He was frankly, very curious of the Pokémon if you take notice of his expression. His eyes would linger to the Pokémon lingering everywhere else, Pikachu sometimes eyeing you in case you needed help, before being shoved down by a playful Buneary, Sylveon worriedly looking at the mouse. Todoroki was especially curious of the duo on him, as the fire Vulpix decided to move towards his shoulders. It wasn't until you felt his constant curiosity being so outwardly obvious, did you step in.
"This is Vulpix." You introduced, Todoroki listening closely. Your introduction allowed the small fox to puff its chest out proudly. "She's a little fiery as you can see, she's a fire type." Todoroki's eyes automatically drifted towards the Fire-Pokémon, there was a hint of emotion flashing in his eyes. "And this one is her sister, they're a little different as this one's an Ice-Pokémon." You gestured to the snuggled Alolan Vulpix, as once again Todoroki looked contemplative.
It didn't click earlier, but you realized both Vulpix's make half of each of his quirk. A coincidence it seems? You couldn't think about it much when the snowish-furred Vulpix abruptly swished her lushes tail upward, as ice began spraying around.
"Ah-!" You uttered, relishing the coldness spraying you-the hot air a bane to your existence. "That feels good!" You mused as the fox tittered a bit, continuing to swish her tail, small bits of ice shard hitting the floor. Todoroki eyed interestedly. "When it gets hot, Alolan Vulpix sprays ice shards to cool down." You explained, before gesturing to Vulpix on his shoulder. "While this one..."
Without any words said, Vulpix slowly puff out small flames, being careful to avoid Todoroki's head after an incident you rather not reminisce involving your hair. "To prevent its body from going too hot, she releases flames." Todoroki let a hum, trying to infer that he was listening.
"They're a little young, found them alone about a few months ago." You explained, keeping it brief to avoid getting too into detail about their past. "It's actually strange, I would have expected both of them to be fire types since I found them in this region..."
"What makes you say that?" Todoroki questioned, as you hummed contemplatively.
"Hmm, well their not native to this country, at least not this one here." You gently ruffled the Alolan Vulpix's fur, "It was theorized that Vulpix' were all fire Pokémon, but due to their movement to show-capped mountains, some had begun adapting to ice Pokémon." You mused to yourself. You wondered more about it, but noticing the slightly blank expression Todoroki had, you diverted the topic. "Other than that, Vulpix are all born with a single tail, but now that they're older, it separates to six tails!"
Your changed topic had you reaching over to brush Alolan Vulpix's tail, as you continued in upbeat. "They have soft fur! It's a good thing I made it a habit to brush them diligently!" Upon your petting, you noticed the awkward way Todoroki held the Vulpix. It doesn't look very comfortable.
"...You should hold her like this." You reached over impulsively, maneuvering Todoroki's left hand with ease, Todoroki stiffening under your touch, as you pushed it in the correct position so Alolan Vulpix would be contented. The creature let out a small happy sigh, snuggling further. Todoroki followed your instructions, carefully holding the Pokémon, as you let his hand go. "Yup, just like that, so she'll be more comfortable."
Todoroki gazed at the way you just reached your bandaged hand to his left one. Were you not the least bit discontented with him about the burn?
You grinned, "They're not quite that close with the other Pokémon as of yet, but they seemed to have no trouble being next to you." You eyed the foxes, musing lightheartedly. "Perhaps they feel comfortable, because of your quirk?"
"...I see." He answered.
...He doesn't give out much reaction, does he? You sighed, brows furrowing exasperatedly, but the way he nodded at you showed he appreciate you introducing them. A part of you wondered why you're trying so hard to get a reaction out of him when you both been glaring daggers at each other for most of the day. The sourness you felt bubbled for a moment before you released them with a deep breath and a sigh. No use in getting upset about it now, now that you're sitting together. You figured your conversation has finally ended now that you said what you wanted, only to be questioned right after.
"How's the burn...?" Todoroki side-eye your bandage.
Your hand jolted up at his question, as you answered hesitantly at first, baffled at his sudden inquiry. "Ah-it's healed." You told, eyeing your bandaged hand. "Recovery girl and the healing Pokémon did a great job, I barely feel a thing now."
The usually ice-cold Todoroki was crumbling from your vision. In steed, you were greeted with this odd Todoroki, the boy eyeing your bandaged hand intensely. It was something he didn't even know he did as he suddenly reached over, extending his cool-feeling hand to grasp your hand. You were dumbstruck as Todoroki pulled your hand closer to his face, accessing the injury. His cool hand, cool enough for you to feel past the bandages, felt comforting for your burnt as you quietly watched as he brushed his thumb over the injury.
...What is with this princely action? You feel like you're having a weird dream or something, but that was not it as Pikachu surprised face from afar spoke enough. You felt your face heat up embarrassedly, as you tugged your hand away a little. "Uh..." Your voice brought Todoroki out of his trance, causing him to pull back.
"Sorry." He apologized blatantly and had the audacity to look like a cat with its ears down. Todoroki sided away, trying to give you space because of his sudden action. He carefully kept his hold on the white-furred Vulpix, making sure the fire Vulpix stayed steadily on his shoulders as he scoots away. You gape before you're once again laughing.
Your outright laughter caused the Todoroki to maneuver his head to the side questionably, eyeing your strange reaction. You snickered, the reddish Vulpix that was eyeing Todoroki's strange hair color was now gazing at you, before copying you with its snickering, leaning closer curiously at your laughter.
"You're really-!" You can't stop smiling, gleaming at your classmate. "You're really making it hard for me to take you seriously you know?"
Todoroki stayed silent, the bicolored hair boy seemingly processing your words, as he took in your expression. He doesn't think he had ever seen you smile like that to him, which with both your resentment on each other made it even more unlikely for you to do so. You beamed at him a little longer, before you were suddenly pounced by the Vulpix on his shoulders, the little being giving its little cackle, almost sounding maniacal, as it nuzzles into you.
You chuckled, bringing it closer, nuzzling it hard and back. Todoroki drifted his attention to you two, seeing the way your eyes joyously looking at the cackling red-furred creature. If your eyes could smile, it would be smiling largely right at the moment. It was so different, so contradictory to the eyes he saw just before...
You said in mid-laugh, "Oh, by the way, petting them right here makes them laugh like this." You elaborated as Vulpix began tittering even happier, rolling on its back on your lap making you giggle. "But they especially like being petted here." You reached over to scratch behind Vulpix's ear, as it grew content after a good laugh.
Todoroki slowly followed your action, doing the same to the snow-colored Vulpix who hummed happily. Todoroki's expression softened.
Maybe...He judged you too quick.
There was a silence, as you continued playing with the fire-fox Pokémon, Arcanine was now being bothered by the smaller Pokémon, the large creature huffing every time they got on top of him as Gardevoir smiled a bit as she watched nearby, Reuniclus next to her gurgling happily. There were other Pokémon, but Todoroki can't be bothered to notice as the small fox Pokémon in his arm began yipping, seemingly curious about what's going on with her sister, but nonetheless contented in Todoroki's arm, nuzzling closer into him. Todoroki's brows furrowed, not being able to stop himself anymore.
"...How long?"
You stopped smothering Vulpix with your snuggling, looking at Todoroki. He repeated his question, more like stated. "How long have you known about the Pokémon."
You slowly pulled away from Vulpix, who yipped questionably. "...Are you asking me when I first come to know of their existence?" You worded slowly, trying to think. You answered after a few beats. "I believe it was when I was 4, right when my quirk came out."
"...so you knew them that much longer..." Todoroki mused quietly, he loosened his hold on the snow-white Vulpix unconsciously, making the two twin Pokémon and you stare curiously at him. The way he said that...it sounded like-
"What are you saying Todoroki-san?" You raised a brow, daring him to finish his sentence. You were feeling wary now, it was a strange thing on Todoroki's part to say. You waited, as Todoroki seemed to be in another trance, thinking deeply.
"...I-," Todoroki started, turning his attention back at the situation at hand, his heterochromia eyes boring into yours. "I've known about them since I was 6."
.
.
.
"...What?" You muttered, spaced out, as Todoroki dragged on.
"My old man, I'm sure you know who he is." Todoroki elaborated, but you were still reeling over Todoroki knowing of their existence since he was 6. What? Then, he knew from the start? He knew their existence almost as long as you have? Now you were trying to keep up with his explanation. "Since he's a Pro, that should explain enough right?"
"Your dad..." You paused, trying to puzzle your brain back together. You tried to remember, but the knowledge left your mind. You hesitantly asked. "He's the number...4-?"
"Number 2."
"Right, the number 2 Pro-hero in Japan..." You voiced, rubbing your forehead tiredly. Then it came to you. That's right.
Though it was never explicitly explained, the Pokémon subsistence has always been a government secret. It was an existence the whole world kept under, but that didn't mean high-ranking officers and others weren't aware of their beings. Like Tsukauchi for example. He is quite the respected detective, after all, so he was also given intel about the Pokémon, in fact, he sometimes helps the organization. With this knowledge, it's not so farfetched that some Pro-heroes were informed too.
It was more of a precaution really, there will be times when a Pro might come across a Pokémon, so the government had to at least alert some of the Pros of their existence. You knew without a doubt that not all Pro-heroes and Police officers were informed of these matters, but high-ranking ones, like Todoroki's father, were signed to secrecy about these matters upon learning this information.
"My old man saw one in an organization, and he was instantly interested in them." Todoroki sounded cold, the coldness that had melted away was back and now stronger. His expression showed his distaste for his father, and you were quickly reminded by Meowth and Midoriya's explanation that Todoroki was not on good terms with his father. "So, when what happened at USJ and the FE-Monsters came out, he was more interested in you and them."
Your brows furrow, unintentionally feeling cagey as you crossed your arms tightly, the Vulpix sitting next to your form quietly. Todoroki clenched the fist resting on his knee, "I don't know if Midoriya had told you, but my father was always an ambitious man. So, when he couldn't surpass All Might and stayed in 2nd, he came up with another strategy."
Upon listening to his sudden clarification, his cryptic words, and such, a thought suddenly rushed through, clicking a piece together in your head. You piped a tad softly, looking away guardedly. "Is it...an arranged marriage? You father and your mother...?"
Todoroki's shoulder tense, looking at you with careful eyes. "So Midoriya told."
"No, he didn't." You were quick to defend. Although Meowth ratted out a few words, both he and Midoriya hadn't told you the gist of the story out of respect. You didn't want them either to get the blunt of Todoroki's anger if something happened, as he turned his head away, seemingly contemplating as the Alolan Vulpix cooed in its arms.
"It wouldn't matter. If Midoriya told, I wouldn't care." Todoroki started, before eyeing you again with hidden curiosity. "I'm surprised you got it." You shifted uncomfortably, as Todoroki voiced his thoughts. "I would think an arranged marriage wouldn't be anybody's first thoughts."
You sent the Todoroki an unsure look before you sighed. "...My parents," Since Todoroki was coming clean, you suppose letting out a few words of your own would be fine. "They were in an arranged marriage. They're divorced now."
Todoroki seemed to halt, subtly watching your movement before questioning. "...What reason were they arranged?"
"Hmm, well it's just tradition for my family, from generation to generation." You explained, looking down at the Vulpix huddled near your stomach, cooing at you. You smiled, "Just that..."
A silence enveloped for a second.
"...Sorry." Todoroki apologized, his apology sounding clear and firm. To be fair, he didn't necessarily look apologetic, but his voice spoke of sincerity and that made you smile a bit.
"It doesn't matter..." You shrugged, mindlessly looking to the sky. "Things are a lot better now, for mother and I at least." You hesitantly shifted the conversation back to the hand at topic, awaiting the next word of his story. "Is your case the same? Were your family traditionalist?"
"No," Todoroki replied with a small huff, eyes getting colder. "It was a quirk marriage." You frowned, starting to understand now. Quirk marriage after all were implemented for people who wanted offsprings with a combination of the parents' quirk. So, that would explain that Todoroki's father's way of surpassing All Might is... "By raising me to be a hero that surpassed All Might, he wanted to satisfy his own desire."
The duo vulpix began their small cooing, the dripping anger and repulse from Todoroki's voice alone made them agitated. You could only stare in uncertainty. Todoroki seemed to be struck by a sudden memory, and you felt even more speechless with the next bout of information. "That scum drove my mother to the point where I could only remember her crying." He covered the scar on his left eyes. "She poured boiling water on me, saying 'my left side is unsightly.'"
There is no amount of words that could explain how shocking this information left you, as you stayed clamped up while Todoroki looked off in an angered dazed. "I'm fixated on Midoriya because I plan to defeat him without my father's quirk." Todoroki didn't take notice of the pawing snow-white Vulpix, "He, who has a connection to All Might."
There was now a tense air surrounding you two, it nearly left you breathless. Your eyes dazedly looked around, trying to see where the right answer was before you murmured. "I'm...sorry, for making you bring that up." Todoroki was silent, he let the ice Vulpix in his hold go after realizing he had unintentionally tightened his grip. You felt an immense feeling of empathy, but even so, you asked with a small tight frown. "But, I hope you won't take this as an insult or insensitive-but what had this to do with me?"
Todoroki still stayed mute, keeping his cold gaze to a tree across from him, before they returned aloof. "I told you my old man knew about the Pokémon." You nodded affirmatively, "As a result, I was told too." You nodded again, however a tad hesitantly this time. "...Before that day when we went to USJ, I saw you with a Pokémon."
You almost instinctively nod, before blinking in bewilderment. "What...you did? When?" You couldn't help yourself as you lightly clutched his sleeve in shock. Todoroki took notice of the action before you quickly release your hold in a haste. "S-Sorry, I just..." You looked away, still alarmed at this.
The fact he knew this whole time of you with the Pokémon sent warning bells in your brain. There could be plenty of times he could've told on someone, yet he didn't. It was different with Kendo, Tsuyu, or Bakugo who had seen them briefly, they knew nothing of the Pokémon's existence. But Todoroki did, and that's what uneased you.
"It was during the infiltration." Todoroki cut in, you leaned in closer curiously. "When all the students were panicking, I saw you with the Pokémon."
It took you a while, but you remembered. The Pokémon he had seen must've been Joltik. That day you brought Joltik, who had been hiding behind your school's uniform collar, and took him out after being pushed to a window. You were worried Joltik had gotten injured from the push, and with everyone panicking, figured that no-one would be watching. But you were apparently wrong.
Now that Todoroki had mentioned that, you supposed after that you had caught Todoroki staring at you much more often. You assumed, at the time, he was just curious about your quirk, which hasn't been explained before. But it was actually since he saw you with a Pokémon. It's all coming together. "I see..." You mustered out, as Todoroki hummed.
"I was suspicious of you. I didn't know that it was an FE-Monster at the time, but after watching you I figured." Todoroki explained, although Alolan Vulpix was let go, she hadn't left his side at all, choosing to coo again to be carried once more. The Vulpix you held scurried away from you, trotting to her sibling. "You, who had a connection with the creatures my father was curious about, was someone I figured to be wary of."
"What's your father so curious about?" You questioned, turning your gaze to the rest of the Pokémon. You knew the Pokémon were extraordinary, but what made it extraordinary to the 2nd Pro-Hero?
"Who knows..." Todoroki sighed, the frustration he has for his father spoke. But you had an underlying feeling of uncertainty, as he seemed hesitant to speak up about something. "He would just sometimes bring them up, I would only assume he's interested in their power."
If that's the case-you scowled, staring down at the grassy plain. When the two Vulpix began trotting towards you, out of worry, you swoop them close to you, tightening your grasp firmly. The Vulpixs' were lax in your arms, as death seemed to emit from your form. You're not letting any of your Pokémon get near him-!
In your silent seething, Todoroki eyed you, seemingly processing your now upset visage with curiosity. Strangely the two foxes were truly content in your arm, not making a fuss at your angered form with your mouth pressed thinly with your cheeks puffed out. It made him wonder...
"But y'know," After overcoming your sudden protectiveness, you raised a question. "That still doesn't answer much...Why did you say that in the break room?" You looked at him curiously, his words echoing in your mind.
"I'll just say it here; I don't trust you." His words hit a cord, and even the rest looked surprised.
"I knew we aren't friends, but did I really do something that could make you not trust me?" You asked, taking a hesitant gander at the two-toned haired boy, who looked away once your eyes met.
Todoroki pondered, before uttering. "I am suspicious of you. Of your reasoning with the Pokémon."
"My reasoning?"
"Yes," Todoroki affirmed, he stared at you with the same underlying suspicion he had appointed upon you. "What was your reasoning to use the Pokémon in the sports festival?"
Once again, the air around you felt tense. You narrowed your eyes, unsure what he meant by that. "Isn't it quite obvious?" You began, giving Todoroki a prepared look. "For the Pokémon of course."
"...How can I be sure about that?" Todoroki voiced. A part of you felt ruffled at his statement, but Todoroki slowly intervened before you could defend yourself. "But I suppose...I might be mistaken."
...Todoroki's beyond confusing you now. One moment, he's all up on your case, speculating your case, but then out of nowhere, he's suddenly changing his sentence. You feel like you're having a migraine, but you let Todoroki continue. "I believed," He eyed the grass under him. "That you were using the Pokémon for your benefit." You raised a brow but stayed silent nonetheless.
"I'll be honest; I didn't think you had good intention towards the Pokémon at first." You listened warily, "From what happened at USJ, and the Pokémon, I thought you were forcing them-"
"-to battle?" You hummed, a bit condescendingly. But even with that, your earlier caged expression softened. So that what he thought? You raised a brow at his visibly confused look. The corner of your lips quirked. "Oh Todoroki-san, I don't think you're aware how battle-orientated the Pokémon are, are you?"
You let out a sigh, realizing that your rivalry was mostly based on just misunderstandings and speculations. You rubbed your nape, frustrated, but a sense of enlightenment at finally understanding. In a way, Todoroki's weirdly just caring about the Pokémon. You wondered if there was a reason for this, as there must be an explanation why Todoroki had empathized so much to the point he worried you were using them in a bad light.
Nonetheless, a part of you felt more at ease.
"Just to be clear, I'm not using the Pokémon." You needed to get that out of the way. "I still don't know how you came to that conclusion, but I only have the best intentions for them." You said confidently, making sure to sound as sure as you felt.
"Their...basically family to me." You continued, your eyes adoringly watching the Pokémon play on the grass. "They mean that much to me..." Your expression softened before you sternly added right after. "So trust me when I say, everything I do is for the Pokémon's sake. Not mine."
You spoke sincerely from the deepest depths of your heart, knowing for one fact above all, that there's truly nothing in the world you wouldn't do if it was for their sake.
Todoroki's suspicion seemed to wear off after that, as he let out a small nod, accepting your statement. "I understand." The action finally released the image of Todoroki he had planted on your head, and for the first time, you saw him in a much brighter light. Perhaps...you can be friends.
As you smiled at him, Todoroki felt lighter too. He focuses his attention on your eyes, your (color) eyes that he's now out-righting looking at that spoke of sincerity. His shoulders relaxed, as finally, he took the Alolan Vulpix into his hold again, the creature snuggling up to him.
"(Last)." You perked, humming in reply. The Todoroki contemplated. "When I saw your eyes in the break room, and in that Cavalry, I was dumbstruck by how similar they were to another."
You let out another small hum, wondering where he was going with this. The break room and the Cavalry...what did your eyes look like then? Todoroki answered your internal question, as he looked down at the snowish Vulpix.
"It reminded me of my father's eyes."
Todoroki earnestly looked much calmer, as he scratched behind the Vulpix's ears. The Todoroki youngest son had now felt content. "It had the...determination of his, and at first I was-,"
"I'm sorry, what?" You cut in.
Todoroki, who was busying amusing the fox, finally pulled his gaze back at you. Except, you didn't look so good. You looked beyond shock, and not necessarily the good kind. It made the Todoroki confused since just a few seconds ago you were finally smiling again. Todoroki blinked when you repeated your question, sounding firmer. "What did you just say?"
"...Your eyes," Todoroki appeared aloof as he completed his sentence. "-remind me of my father's."
And just like that, your earlier friendlier thoughts regarding this classmate had completely vanquished, and you were left gaping stupefied. Heck, you felt the world was just as stupefied, as you started feeling deaf. Is...Is Todoroki being serious right now? You debated that he might have made a joke, but the serious look makes you think you weren't hearing wrong. You furrow your brows, before letting out a small laugh-forced and awkward.
"Oh, is that so...?" You mused, but you felt devoid of finding this funny at the moment. Todoroki's just seemed even more blank to your question, before he replied earnestly again.
"Yeah, I guess."
"...Well, this was a waste of time." You muttered, before rising without a word, much quicker than you wanted. "I guess it was stupid to think we could at least be civil with each other, but never mind that."
"...Huh?"
You suddenly whirled around to your Pokémon, all of them perking at your call. "Alright you guys, we should get head back in." The Pokémon gave each other a slightly bewildered look, perhaps from your tone or not, but they complied. You put most of them in the Pokeball, except for Pikachu, Sylveon, and the twin Vulpix, who were staring up at you confoundedly from their spots near Todoroki.
"You guys too, let's go." You began, crouching down with your hold on to their Pokeball. The Vulpixs' were about to complain, but chose not to after your slightly stern frown, as they headed inside with small coos, of course, not before giving nudges of goodbye to Todoroki, who looked lost. With that, you put away all the other stuff, turning to the still sitting Todoroki with a nod.
"I'm glad we could have this discussion, Todoroki-san. But I'm going to head back and get ready." Todoroki just seemed even more confused, as weren't you battling in another round? Nonetheless, he didn't say a reply to your statement, as you made a turn to leave. But stopped once you were at least a few feet away.
"About Midoriya..." You added, not feeling complete enough until you said it. "Midoriya has similar power typing to All Might, so I think that's why All Might's so interested in him." You sounded sure of yourself, as Todoroki listened. "Although I understand your reasoning on not using your left side and wanting to beat Midoriya, are you sure that's the right route to fight back on your father?"
Todoroki's expression stiffened, but you didn't stop. You let a small aggravated huff. "I don't really know how to say this subtly, so I'll just say it outright. Those your left side really have anything to do with your father at the end of the day? At this point, you're just hindering yourself."
"...hindering myself?" Todoroki seemed upset. "I'll still win-,"
"Yeah, but not at your fullest potential." You sighed, before grumbling on the sidelines, "Not that I have any right to lecture you anyways..." You turned one last time towards the Todoroki, giving him a stern look. "Never mind what I say if you just don't get it. Just consider it a piece of small advice."
Todoroki still didn't seem to get it, as he stared at you with questions swirling in his eyes. But you only let out a shrug, releasing a small sigh before you waved off an arm. "Well, see you in the games. Excuse me."
And with that, you walked off, leaving Todoroki with his own thoughts to ponder over once more.
.
.
.
"Ughhh..." You crouched alone in the hallway, Pikachu and Sylveon taking your side bewilderedly at your action. You let out another groan, before banging it lightly at the wall, with a deep frown. "Who those that Todoroki think he is...?"
You sighed, wrapping your hands on your head as Sylveon cooed questionably. "And to think I thought we were finally connecting." You grumbled, pressing the top of your head on the seemingly smooth wall. "And then he said something like that."
You imitated his stone-cold face. "'Your eyes remind me of my father's eyes.' He said, after going on a tirade on why he disliked his father. Am I supposed to just take it!?" You scratch your head intensely with a groan, both the Pokémon looking at you as if you had finally gone crazy, but understanding enough to pat you comfortingly.
"I really thought that we were finally getting along." You repeated, feeling entirely baffled by the turn of events. You were only pulled away from your slight disappointment when the bell rang, as Present Mic's voice echoed that the 1 vs 1 battle was about to start. You puff out a sigh, before deciding on a whim. "Who cares then? I won't care what you think Todoroki."
You plucked yourself back on your feet, crossing your arms. "I do not have power-hungry eyes-! In fact, he should take a look at a mirror cause his eyes probably look more like that than mine." You grumbled, before promising in your heart. "Just wait and see till we meet in the battle-field!" With your encouraging (?) words, Pikachu and Sylveon cheered and you were left grinning down at them. That's when you were quickly reminded.
"Shinso's and Midoriya's battle-!" Both the Pokémon perking at the familiar names, you looked at them with wide eyes. 'That's right, their battles about to begin. We got to go!" With that, you raced forward without looking back, both Pikachu and Sylveon scampering after you in a hurry. In your head, feeling the need to prove to Todoroki that you weren't any way like his father, and you did not have his eyes.

Omake:
[With Pikachu when he went to get your Pokeball for the Coordinator show]
Pikachu bounded off towards the break room, skidding left and right to find the room. The adorable creature still dressed in his honorary cheerleader outfit was feeling mildly uncomfortable. Perhaps it's the fact it was not used to wearing clothes, as the skirt swished as it pranced towards the familiar door.
Perking at the sight, Pikachu raced towards the lockers, going straight towards the one he knew had your carrier bag. Pikachu was quick to open the door, by using its strength and tail to pull the handle, before jumping into your comfortable bag.
Pikachu could easily fall asleep in this cluttered mess, but he had to bring the Pokémon for the coordinator show out. He quickly began rummaging around, before he found the small pouch holding said Pokémon. The Pikachu bit its teeth on the pouch, before heading out of the locker.
As it was about to head straight towards where you were waiting, he passed by a full body mirror that happens to be sitting there, Pikachu took a quick peek as it passed it leisurely.
Skid!
In astonishment, it went back to access his form, jaw-dropping at the sight, the pouch falling unceremoniously. Pikachu stood closer to the mirror, gaping at his appearance, as he saw the way he was dressed. Pikachu was ready to crawl under your bed and just live there for a very, very, very, very, very...very long time.
Pikachu let out a whine, tugging his ears in embarrassment. How could he ever be seen outside! It's decided, he's going to become Dwebble. He'll find a rock as a home and make a hole on it, where he'll crawl into to live forever. Being a Weedle doesn't sound like such a bad idea if he can burrow under the ground.
Pikachu had small tears clung to his eyes as he cried, "Pi Pika-ka-chu ka Pichu-!"
[Translation: My reputation is ruined!]
But comes sadness, comes anger. Pikachu's whole visage blew up in rage as he thought of that kindred reject-! It was Kaminari's fault, as the electric boy's laughing face upon seeing him played on a loop in his small brain. Well, Pikachu's brain may be small, but his heart's bigger than any other! And that heart's burning with a need to cause vengeance!
Upon his self-revenge-planning, Pikachu hadn't noticed as one of the Pokeball within the pouch had rolled out upon his sudden shock at his appearance. The single capsule rolled out with a small bounce before it began wiggling about. With a few extra shakes, the Pokeball release the Pokémon, as a cute brownish bunny bounced out.
Buneary cooed around, giddily watching her surroundings in curiosity. She was about to question where you were to Pikachu when she caught the absolutely adorable outfit Pikachu was wearing. It awed, heart eyes forming at the adorable outfit. No way-! Such a cute outfit and it wasn't for her?
As Buneary stayed silent, she listened to Pikachu angered mutterings. Upon listening, it noticed a figure whistling down past the door outside. With Pikachu's heavily insulting description and the boy that passed by, she came up with an idea. The Buneary giggled behind her paw, tittering at her idea, before bounding up to Pikachu, who yelped at the bunny's sudden appearance. Pikachu grew embarrassed as he noticed the interested stares Buneary gave upon noticing the outfit but decided not to voice it out when Buneary suddenly put her paws on her hip.
Buneary made a gesture from pointing to the rodent to the outfit, then to itself happily. Pikachu blinked and was about to agree with no hesitation when Buneary added a preposition. Buneary dragged Pikachu near the door and pointed at a figure musing at the vending machine. The rodent, who just wanted the outfit off, eyes widened at the sight.
Kaminari whistled without care, eyeing the drink suggestion leisurely. It looked like he was going to take a while, as he kept on changing his mind once he made his mind, hovering his pointer finger on one of the buttons in scrutiny. Pikachu gaped, before squeaking curiously to the bunny. And the Buneary's only response was this.
A giddy evil grin, as she made a motion with her paw like she was slitting her neck.
Pikachu slowly followed suit. The usually adorable duo's mimicking the actual devils. Oh if revenge isn't so sweet~!
"Man...which one should I buy..." Kaminari mused out-loud, eyeing from one drink to the other. He quickly pocketed out his changes, counting the number of yens with a small sigh. "Curse it, not enough for the special energy drink-!"
If Iida was here, he would be gasping loudly-actually Kaminari can hear it- before he would reprimand saying 'you already had an energy drink Kaminari-kun, cease this immediately!' But Kaminari needs the energy, he's got a battle to prepare!
Except now he has the fact he couldn't afford it as a blockage, as he could only stare miserably at the drink icon for a second. Buneary, while Kaminari was distracted, suddenly hopped into the Vending Machine opening, being all while discreetly. Hidden inside the machinery, Kaminari was oblivious as ever as he could stare at his preferred drink icon within grumbles.
Unexpectedly, a loud noise echoed with the machinery. It made Kaminari jump back, surprised when suddenly a bottle rolled on the opened compartment. He recognized the label right away, the energy drink magically given to him. Kaminari gaped, eyeing around before gazing at the Vending Machine. "Is...Is this a sign?"
Vending Machine stayed silent. Kaminari was suddenly all pumped up. "Looks like the gods are shining down on me-!" He suddenly glomped the Vending Machine, it was a terrible hug that left Kaminari internally wincing, as he cried. "Thank you Vending Machine-san, I will treasure this fine beverage you provided for me. And make it far into the games."
With final prayers, Kaminari dumbly went down to retrieve the drink when it rolled further inside. Kaminari was dumbfounded, but on impulse tried to catch it. He pounced into the opening compartment, wringing his arm into it searchingly. Kaminari wasn't sure if the gods were going to retract his reward, so he had to retrieve the drink quickly.
As his hand patted the space, Kaminari grew more dumbfounded. In a last resort, he plunged his head inside, trying to see within the darkness of the compartment. It was a tight fit, but he made himself fit.
Yet for some reason, the drink still isn't there. Kaminari grew confused, only noticing with a small glance to his side that wasn't the only one inside the compartment. "OH MY-YOW!" Kaminari jumped, his head hitting the ceiling of the compartment as Buneary held onto his drink cheerfully.
Kaminari gaped at the rabbit, not recognizing the creature. But in Kaminari's dumbfounded brain, he couldn't even try to fathom why a bunny was inside the vending machine, as his eyes were fixated on the drink. "Oh hey, that's my drink. Are you giving it to me?"
Buneary handed the drink towards him, as tears began sprouting Kaminari's eyes. The goddess light was truly shining down on him today-! But right at the moment he went to grab it, the Buneary pulled it away with a haughty huff. Kaminari blinked, "H-Hey, what?"
And that's when it happened, he was struck in the back by a heavy force, forcing him deeper into the compartment causing him to yelp. It hurt, but it didn't hurt as much as he thought it would as Buneary, who was not giving the drink, was quick to give Kaminari a teasing look, as she squeezed out of the compartment.
"W-Wha-Hey! don't leave me!" Kaminari was about to follow the bunny. Was it going to take him to a hole that leads him to a wonderland? Who knows! He just wants that drink as he tried to pull himself off from the vending machine only to realize it too late.
...He's stuck.
Kaminari could hear the creature scampering away, sounded like it was two creatures leaving him all alone, stuck in the vending machine. Kaminari stayed thunderstruck, not even knowing what had just happened. When...
"Let's give it up to boss, who's going to give a performance you have never seen before!"
And that's when Kaminari knew, right there, with his upper-half body practically shoved into the Vending Machine compartment, with the sound of cheers of the event and the loud commentary coming from a certain feline...
That this was just the start of his misery.
Cue evil Pikachu laughter.

When you question if you need to decide to cut the long-ass-chapter into 2 parts for the sake of not making a chapter 50 pages more or to keep the chapter as it is because you can't find a place where to cut it off from. Well, consider this a late Christmas present lmao.
It's been a while! Hope you're all doing well! It's crazy to believe that the story has been going on for 2 years already lmao, the fact that another year has passed this fast is crazy too. Thank you for all your patience and your comments, and I hope to strive even better than where I'm right now. Now we have a lot to unpack, so let's get to it!
So, I decided to change things up for the 1 vs 1 for the sake of the arriving reader. I thought about it heavily and decided to go with this route. I hope you guys expect some different match-ups in the future parts. It might seem a bit overcomplicated, but I assure you I have my reasons!
Other than that, also liked the clarify, that though coordinator shows are usually dressed fancily when the reader was just using her gym outfit, that I thought this would be for the best as of now. I wanted to imagine the reader wearing something pretty, but that'll have to wait for a future scene ;) Though, not gonna lie, this was the hardest part to write. I had to use all my brainpower to come up with something, it was like me trying to force to pieces of the puzzle together and it honestly felt excruciating. Gotta shout out to the peeps who suggest it! I took most of the ideas from Moonfangs444 so thank youu~! I'm not super proud of this bit, but I hope you all enjoyed it at the very least.
I'm actually pretty happy about Todoroki's talk with the reader, as we're provided with many information. Like how Todoroki knew of the Pokémon, knew reader was afflicted with Pokémon before the news, Endeavors interest in Pokémon and many, many other things. Small insider, I referenced the Vulpix maniacal laughter from watching a fox laughing on YouTube lmao. You know, for the longest time I hadn't written any fluff worth material for Todoroki and all I can say is, I'm happy to provide a bit! Of course, until Todoroki ruined it lmao. I don't know about you all, but if Todoroki went on a whole explanation on why his father is terrible, and then proceeded to say 'It was like you had my father's eyes', I would be upset. But Todoroki had his reasons, well more like he wasn't able to finish his words before the reader decided to dip. Todoroki honestly just speaks of the type of guy that would say, 'You're like a slug, cute and round' and had no idea his words involuntarily hurt their significant other.
But out of the way, a personal opinion, I actually find Endeavor a very interesting character. As someone who's caught up with the manga, I just love reading Endeavor's character development, and honestly find myself sort of rooting for him. Not that it means that all the things he's done in the past should be forgiven, but watching him trying to improve is truly a sight. But so far we're with the early-rokis' right now, so we'll have to stick with shitty Endeavor for a while lmao.
So just to say, I've been doing pretty good...been a bit busy since apparently Christmas will always somehow be the most joyful yet busiest time of the year. Can't believe we're getting a 3rd movie! Whoo-and manga is legitimately making me cri. Other than that, I'm wishing you a wonderful next year in 2021, cause we all know this year, was not the greatest... Happy new year everyone! And see you in the next chapter!
Btw, this is another lovely fan art submission! To be honest, I felt really bad for leaving this in my folder for so long due to me just wanting to post it at the same time Todoroki and the reader will talk. I can't seem to find the person who submitted it anymore, but much love to the artist-! I just really like the idea of Todoroki and Reader chatting with the Vulpix, it brings me joy!
