Small warning: This chapter contains more discussion regarding some of Class B's quirks, like being called out or playing a part in this chapter.
The buzzer beeped piercingly across the stadium, indicating the end of the group discussion. By the time the timer went off, everyone was already situated in their respectful places, and were determined to begin the games and win. Midnight stretched an arm over the other, her handcuff-like bracelets clanking with each movement, as the crowd grew rowdier in anticipation. She gleamed at her surroundings, smiling delightedly. "Now, let's get started!"
Back in the commentator's box, Present Mic was tapping awake the dozing off Aizawa, calling out enthusiastically, "Wake up, Eraser!"
The man in question opened his tired eyes, peering through his bandages. He blinked awake from his much-needed nap to see the loudmouthed hero making his way towards a muffled, wrapped-up Meowth, who was angrily hissing like he was going through a horrendous bath, flaying about -well trying to- in a supposed tantrum. The pro-hero eyed wearily.
Why was Meowth hissing now? Well, a little bit after the team-up discussion, Meowth had decided to look through the paper book once more and was close to opening up more secrets about the upcoming events for the whole stadium to hear before the teachers caught him. Though Present Mic tried to stop him, the cat was as relentless as ever and the blond teacher panicked, plucking off Aizawa's wraps thoughtlessly.
That's how Meowth ended up tied up with Aizawa's signature wrap scarf, hiding his muffled complaining.
Present Mic picked the feline up, the wrapped cocooned Meowth thrashing angrily in response, and dropped him slowly on a chair. The animated teacher simply grinned down at the upset cat, moving his gaze from Eraser to the cat in guffaw. "Looks like the Mummy gang is making an introduction!"
In response to the teacher's laughter, Meowth was completely thrown into a hissy fit, looking ready to pummel the very ground Present Mic walked on, as Aizawa could only sigh through his nose. Though the statement wasn't particularly needed, there was truth in the blond hero's words. Meowth and Aizawa looked like mummy buddies, with the dark-clad, bandaged teacher slouching a bit from napping, appearing disdained in his upper-body bandages restricting his arm movement. The cat in a temper tantrum, wriggling in his cocoon, appeared extra mummified as only his angered eyes were visible - his whole body swathed with wraps from his ears to his tail as if he was an antique statue.
Present Mic was quick to snap a photo; the teacher will definitely have fun laughing about it with you. Aizawa's patience finally ran thinned, as he glared at his co-worker. "Stop messing around."
"Alright, alright!" the loud hero replied earnestly, the grin still not vanishing as he tried to pry open the scarf encasing the cat. "You look good mouser! Rocking out the Egyptian side of yours huh?"
When Present Mic was finally able to loosen the top part of the cat's head, Meowth was quick to maneuver the scarf away from his mouth, and began ranting loudly, "Okay, first of all, I'm more Persian than Egyptian-heck, my evolution is called Persian! Just don't lump me up with them alright?!" Meowth angrily gritted his teeth, then he listed again, "Secondly, if we're really being honest here, this is a rude way of representing the Egyptians and I'd mummify you myself if I could for that blatant ignominy,"
Meowth inhaled wheezily as if he needed to restock breath to speak. "And finally," He gave Present Mic his tired-Eraserhead imitation before yelling detestably, trying to pull the wraps off of himself-only failing in his prison, "Get this thing off of me!"
Present Mic and Aizawa watched the cat carefully, as the feline seemed to be having a feral moment, hissing about as he lashed in his cocoon. The blond hero nervously side-eyed his close friend, uncertainty occupying his expression. "Should we release him?"
Aizawa seemed to be contemplating about it for a second, before stating lazily, "Let him cool off..."
After said seconds, Meowth did actually calmed down, breathing heavily as if he ran a marathon. Perhaps after lashing out through the entire 15 minutes he was wrapped up, he had finally lost his strength as he stilled haplessly.
Thinking the cat's fit has ended, Present Mic came closer. "You done?" An upset harrumph was what he received, but the teacher took the action as a yes. Unwrapping the scarf, Meowth jumped off of the chair, not before giving a feral hiss at the teachers, and sat grouchily on the table.
Present Mic backed away, he liked his face the way it is, thank you very much.
"Jeez, what is your scarf made of, I couldn't even scratch it out!" Meowth retracted his claws, eyeing the scarf that Present Mic draped over Aizawa once more. Meowth agitatedly fixed his fur, grumpily eyeing the pro-heroes with condescension.
Present Mic looked elated, mistakenly believing the cat was genuinely asking. "Oh, that's cause it's-,"
"-aaand I don't care! what're the teams?" Present Mic sweat-dropped when the cat swiftly turned towards the window, trying to see what he had missed. The cat had already begun speaking into the microphone in an upbeat tone, purposely avoiding eye-contact.
"Talk about a quick shift-!"
"Just get on with it." Aizawa sighed. This Pokémon may be a pretty small cat, but he's got a huge personality that doesn't necessarily accommodate it.
Poor Present Mic can't seem to catch a break, the man in question slumping dejectedly. Nevertheless, he followed along to the cat's movement, easily going along with his charade, as he put up his 'presenting mode' zealously, mood shifting promptly. "Alright! So after the 15 minutes of teaming up and creating a strategy, 12 cavalry teams are lined up on the field!"
Aizawa lazily leaned forward, peering through his bandages. "Those are some interesting teams." His eyes drifted around curiously, trying to take in the strange or perfectly combo team-ups individually, before his dark eyes landed at the most highlighted team. He sighed, why is he not surprised?
"Woah there! So the mouse is holding the 10 Million points!?" Meowth was the first to point out, leering over with attentiveness as he saw the group. His eyes gleamed curiously, liking how fun things are appearing. "Talk about a different approach! It does spice things up there huh?"
"Haha! It sure does my little feline friend!" Present Mic jostled, earning a quick sneer from said feline, which the teacher ignored. "Now, raise your battlefield cries! The UA's bloody battlefield is about to light the signal fire!" Enticing the crowd with eagerness, Present mic watched as the cheers grew unrulier, and the stadium was filled with unbridled excitement.
Midnight eyed the team with the largest points, counting down each member, before nodding thoughtfully. Midoriya's team has all 5 members waiting for action, and she was impressed by the confidence emitting from their group. Such youthfulness to overcome this small elimination -she liked it! She decided to input, making sure all of the students heard. "Remember, all riders need to stay above ground, including riders of riders~"
"You hear that Pikachu, try to avoid the ground as much as possible," You quickly addressed the mouse, who slowly got on all four to listen to you carefully. "All you got to do is make sure to be on top of one of us. Try to avoid falling on the ground alright?" The mouse made a small noise of agreement, appearing the smallest bit nervous all of a sudden. It was obvious the Pokémon was finally feeling the real front forces of the game, but you weren't too worried. You had confidence in your partner to stay firm.
As Pikachu was about to stand on his back legs once more, he almost slipped off the broccoli's head.
You gaped abashedly at that before Midoriya luckily realized the slip, and quickly pushed the mouse steadily onto his head with a nervous eye. You sighed in relief. Pikachu looked apologetically at you, blinking disappointedly at himself before you positively smiled his way. "Just hang in there, you got this Pikachu!"
With your final encouragement handed to him, Pikachu's confidence shifted. He nodded keenly, this time doing his best to steady his form on top of Midoriya's hair. Midoriya still looked uncertain, but the group already put their ideas out and came to this conclusion at the end. Nonetheless, it didn't stop him from inputting to the yellow mouse carefully, "B-but if you need help Pikachu, don't be afraid to ask me or the others for help, okay?"
Pikachu peered down to get face-to-face with the green-haired boy's anxious profile, making sure to stay affirmably atop his head, before cheerfully giving a small mock salute. "Pi-ka!"
It made Midoriya smile lightly at the upside-down faced mouse before he tugged on a firmed glare. He has to up his game too. He looked at each of his teammates individually.
"Uraraka-san?"
Ochaco smiled animatedly forward, excitement coursing through her veins, as she brought her face up to enthusiastically reply. "Yes!"
"Hatsume-san?"
The support student chuckled, albeit in a sort of maniacally way. Her goggled eyes peering up to confirm herself.
"Tokoyami-kun?"
"Ah." Tokoyami made an affirmed sound, as Dark shadow hovered close by, facing the front-tiers confidently.
"(Last)-san?"
You gleamed, unconsciously smirking as you caught the stares of the rivaling group. You met Midoriya's eyes, his forestry green irises shining, as he gave you a small, confident smile. You huffed, smirk softening to a smile of your own. Your gaze drifting to a prepared Pikachu, speaking genuinely. "Let's have some fun while we're at it."
Midoriya nodded as his gaze twisted readily. The jet-pack, already strapped onto his back, was a dull weight compared to his thumping heart-coursing with excitement and nerves, as he finally shifted his gaze upward. "And Pikachu?"
The mouse used his two front paws to clutch onto his green curls, standing on his hind legs. The Pokémon was confident in his stance now, the bandana showcasing the bold numbers of 10, 000, 525, as he squeaked an unfaltering, "Pika!"
"Then," Midoriya readied his gaze towards the other cavalry groups. He was ready. "Let's Fight!"
『 Chapter Thirty 』
[The Calvary Battle Commences!]
"Let's get started!" Present Mic began, as the loyal Meowth situated himself on the table between the two teachers. The cat sat silently, his curled tail swishing left and right leisurely, "Count down to the brutal battle royal!"
Meowth rolled his eyes, the loud-mouthed teacher can somehow be especially corny with his commentary. Feeling particularly petty after the whole 'mummy' business, Meowth didn't even hesitate to sneakily come closer towards the hero, as Aizawa merely watched the scene like it was inevitable. The injured hero made no comment when Present Mic, speaking closely to the microphone, was pushed to the side by the cat, the pro hero's face being completely mushed and turned away as Meowth started calling out.
"Hope you don't mind, but I'll take it from here!" Meowth winked to the camera, as he began the countdown. "Three!"
"Hey, I was about to-!"
"Two!" It was starting, your eyes can't help but scan your surroundings carefully. You shifted your position, remembering the poke balls tucked inside your small little bag-belt.
You released a small breath, shutting your eyes for a moment, letting the tension wash away for a mere second to enjoy the small sense of relaxation, before the gravity comes back like a tidal wave.
You can do this.
"One!"
You opened your eyes. And It Begins-!
"Start!" Midnight yelled from the stage, slapping down her whip. The games began, and it all began at once. Everyone moving forward in a flurry of heavy footsteps as each and everyone seemed to be all headed in your team's direction hastily.
Not that you weren't expecting this, as you chuckled at the sheer spontaneous action. Each team, filled with teams consisting of 2-4, were rushing onward, trying to gain the upper-hand amidst all the rivals. You perked as you caught sight of an enthusiastic Tetsutetsu yelling out above his team. "It's a battle to win the 10 Million points!"
You quickly surveyed the fields carefully, your eyes darting left and right in a haste. "11 o'clock, softening...1'o clock, Jiro-san, ear-jack..." You softly said, as if you were muttering to yourself. Your team discreetly nodded.
"It truly is a sudden raid huh? The fate of the pursued." Tokoyami voiced next after your mumble, he and Dark Shadow seemingly unperturbed with the sight, as they got in a battle stance. You squeezed the hands belonging to none other than Uraraka and Hatsume, who were flabbergasted at Tokoyami's dramatic words. They glanced towards you as you gave them the signal, making them nod lightly. Tokoyami readied himself. "Make your choice, Midoriya!"
"Of course," Midoriya eyes met yours, he could feel the paws clutching on his hair being tugged lightly. The green-curled boy's hands hovered on to the button of the invention, as you nodded firmly. If this was going how you explained, then- "We're running!"
"Not so-," Before Tetsutetsu could even finish his sentence, or his teammates could react, Uraraka and Hatsume turned their head swiftly away, and your group was flown into the air. The sudden rush of air swept your hair back, as your team narrowly avoided the other group's pursuit. Tetsutetsu's team halted, surprised by the quickness, but focused back on to the main point. The other groups followed in your team's direction. "They flew!? It's the support course!"
"Jiro-san!" Hagakure called out from her team, who appeared embarrassed by Hagakure's lack of shirt.
"I got it!" Jiro's ear jacks followed your flown forms, rushing to the direction of the sky when she was quickly blocked by Dark shadow's claws. Jiro frowned, "Tokoyami-!"
"Nice. Dark Shadow, continue to watch our blind spots." The bird-headed classmate of yours said after Dark shadow's quick movement, as the entity replied with a chipper 'roger!' You smiled at the cute relationship, truly reminding you of your bond with your Pokémon.
You however find yourself blinking at a distracted Dark Shadow eyeing you a little too often as Tokoyami glared at his 'familiar' before he sighed, yieldingly. "(Last)."
With how close Tokoyami was with you, you blinked when he turned his head to you, eyeing you seriously. You ogled perplexedly, before eyeing the awaiting Dark Shadow in confusion. Was he-? Oh! "Dark Shadow, Good job!" You cheered without hesitation, as the entity perked up instantly, "We're depending on you, so pay attention!"
The entity listened, and began scoping around a bit more seriously. You shared a shy chuckle with Tokoyami on your left, who can't help but sigh at his companion.
"Wow, how cool!" Midoriya looked ecstatic, his eyes lighting up in sheer awe, "This all-round defense more than makes up for our lack of there one! Your amazing Tokoyami-kun!"
Tokoyami listened to the compliment, as he moved his gaze elsewhere. You wondered if your neighboring teammate was embarrassed. "You and (last) are the ones that chose me."
"Don't be like that Tokoyami-kun." You nudged your left elbow to him, the action making your eyes meet his red ones. You gave him a happy grin, speaking honestly. "We're glad to have you on the team."
Tokoyami paused, before sighing a bit. He nodded with a quaint smile, "Right."
"I'm going to land!" Uraraka informed quickly, cutting off you and the bird-headed boy's staring contest. Using her new shoes, complimentary from Hatsume herself, Uraraka was able to steady the group to the ground with ease, the blasters on the soles blasting off to keep the group afloat. You held tightly to your team, the feeling of being weightless by Uraraka's quirk is a floaty experience that makes you worried that you would float away.
When your feet found purchase on the floor, the group move forward immediately. Hatsume was quick to ask happily, eager to fish out flattery. "What do you think of my baby? Isn't it cute? Just like (Butchered Last Name), I can create 'cute'!"
"It has excellent mobility! Your baby is amazing, Hatsume-san!" Midoriya was quick to reply earnestly. Pikachu was used to flying, due to your flying Pokémon, so he was pretty unbothered by the whole ordeal, standing as tall as it could on his short form. It squeaked with a small nod of approval.
You chuckled, not even bothering to correct her for botching your name, as you also added. "It's great Hatsume-san..." You paused for a moment, "But like I said, the Pokémon aren't-" But that didn't stop you from trying to fix Hatsume's inattentiveness regarding the Pokémon.
"Right? Right?" She cut in, obviously gladdened by the compliments, her head swishing to stare up at Midoriya, then to your figure-obliviously not noticing your attempt of correction. You shook your head, a small smile rising from the corners of your lip. Hatsume-san will be Hatsume-san you supposed.
"...It's because I'm making everything float..." You were quick to notice when Uraraka slowly muttered in the background, pouting a bit at the side. You gave her a confused look for a moment, which she hadn't noticed in her light grumbling before you chuckled in realization.
"Ochaco-chan!" You called out, as she abruptly clamps her mouth shut to meet your gaze, looking almost embarrassed at getting caught pouting. You smiled at her before you nodded enthusiastically. "You did great too."
Her cheeks lightened in a bright red shade, as she fumbled in step causing the team to wobble slightly. "Whoa!" Midoriya yelped, as Pikachu squeaked in alarm, accidentally tugging a lock of hair a bit harshly.
"A-Ah Sorry!" She was quick to steady herself, gaping at her team meekly. When the team settled and you were already focused back on to the front, she hesitantly called out, all while appearing bashful. "T-Thanks (Name)-chan..."
You warmed at the cute reaction, before focusing on the task in hand. "Alright, let's keep it going, guys!" You voiced, as everyone replied earnestly.
"It hasn't been even two minutes since the battle started, but it's a crazy scene down there. Everyone's fighting for the headbands!" Present Mic called out, slamming both hands onto the table, before wagging a finger to prove a point. "aiming for the second to fourth place isn't bad either y'know?"
"Oh, so now you can tell them about this..." Meowth's sneered obnoxiously, remembering being wrapped for trying to say this. He crossed his arms as Present Mic sweated. "I feel wronged."
"I didn't know you were gonna say that-! And I panicked!"
You eyed around curiously once more, scanning the area for any signs of the others. "9 o'clock, Shoji...5 o'clock Bakugo from afar...and Tetsutetsu team, 2 o'clock." You looked around, looking to see if anyone else is catching your sight. "Tetsutetsu team's vines I'm worried, and Shoji-kun-,"
"Shoji-kun? He's by himself? But it's a cavalry." Midoriya can't help but questioned, the mouse atop of him eyed the four-armed man warily. Your bird-headed teammate was taking in the situation at hand and wasn't pleased by what he saw.
"We need to act now," Tokoyami stated, but Midoriya grew uncertain about what to do.
"Wait a second..." You intervened before Midoriya could state his thoughts. You forced the group to follow your movement to step back. Just from watching the many armed-boy far away, you knew there was more to what meets the eye. He's definitely with someone, and you know it. You saw him chatting with someone when you were scouting teammates.
Who was it again? It's at the tip of your tongue. Well considering the circumstances of Shoji's odd stance, it looked like he was hiding someone within his dome-structured arms. It had to be someone naturally small to fit in Shoji's arms like that, and that was-, "Mineta-kun, Shoji's team!" You murmured resolutely.
"What? Is that even allowed?" Midoriya commented in surprise but luckily was able to remember to keep his voice down to avoid any wandering listeners.
"Are you sure (Name)-chan?" Uraraka questioned, but followed your action to move the group another step backward. She looked behind her, noticing a couple of groups making their way over, and knew there's no way to escape from the back.
"I'm positive." You nodded your head confidently. The decisive answer quickly garnering an immediate answer from the earlier stupefied green-haired rider.
"Okay then! If there's Mineta-kun, then we should keep clear of our left side..." Midoriya answered briefly, his confident words slowing down as he took in the situation they were placed in. They could fly off, it would be easier, but from this situation alone...
He looked at the surrounding teams with sudden clarity, eyes lighting up, as he called out to you quietly. "(L-Last)-san, do you think we can pull it off now...?"
You slowly blinked, raising your head to eye him to take in the question. Your eyes darted around as if affirming something before you assuredly nodded. "Looks like it."
The group eyed the green-haired boy, waiting for his decision as he nodded his head. "Then, let's do it."
You grinned, this was going to be good.
"...So, Mouser." Present Mic saddled closer towards the detached cat, who abruptly yawned in the teacher's face after said teacher got close enough. The peeved Present Mic scrunched up his face at the action and moved away brusquely. It had been just mere minutes, but it looked like the cat's taking one step into dreamland and unwilling to take a step back into the real world. But if anyone knew Present Mic, it was obvious he was gonna continue his onslaught of questions, making Meowth begrudgingly listen. "During the Obstacle race, we had the very Majestic Arcanine, who hopefully we'll see more from, taking the spotlight. But we haven't discussed the other Pokémon...Tell us about it!"
"..."
"...Huh?" Meowth simply responded, squinting his eyes confoundedly. The loud hero withdrew back, not exactly expecting that for an answer.
"C-C'mon now! I'm pretty sure the crowd would want to know more about the new Pokémon." Present Mic would've taken over, but he sadly wasn't quite aware of what the little yellow mouse's name was. The Pokedex was still a gadget he needs to get used too.
The cat squinted harder. The puzzlement was becoming very apparent, and Meowth didn't even try to hide it.
"Wellll-! our 10 Million team is currently being singled out by the other groups!" No matter what, Present Mic still must uphold his professionalism. The pro-hero gestured to the field. "What do you think of the Pokémon acting as the rider?"
"Oh! You mean him..." Meowth answered after noticing what the pro-hero was talking about, the said hero was sighing in relief when the cat finally understood. Meowth smiled whimsically as if holding back from laughing out loud. "That Pokémon has the most generic face I completely forgot about him..." He cackled, yawning a bit once more before introducing. "That, my eccentric friend, is Pikachu."
2nd Pokémon: Pikachu
"The Mouse Pokémon. An electric type..." A dry voice interrupted, the bandaged Aizawa skimmed through the Pokedex, as he caught sight of the determined creature moving around on top of Midoriya's head. This was one of the first Pokémon Aizawa was introduced too, reminding him of his first meeting with you, where he found you huddled behind one of UA bushes with two creatures. He glanced at the Pokedex entry to read the data enquiringly, before looking at the group once more. His brows raised at what he saw. What-?
Mineta sniggered shrewdly within Shoji's encased arms. He was sure no one had picked up on his group's secret and had no idea he was hidden there. Plucking off a grape ball, he squinted an eye zeroing in on Uraraka's shoe, leg, with concentration. Taking out their escape way is the way to go! He aimed it, and threw it, watching as the grape ball zoomed to his intended spot only to watch it get deflected. "Huh?!" The tiny boy squinted bewilderedly, what was going on?!
With Tetsutetsu's team, the group was moving in fast as they kept a keen eye on their goal, the 10 million headband group rooted on their spot. Tetsutetsu yelled out a battle cry, pushing his arm forward towards the aiming bandana, only to get confused. His eyes wandered, trying to pinpoint the vanish mouse, to stare at Midoriya's sheepish face, who also didn't have any signs of the headband on him. The steel-like boy grew muddled, and he didn't hesitate to vocalize it. "HEY! What's going on?!"
"...Now?" Tokoyami voiced, eyeing you for input. The bird-headed classmate was curious about how this will all work out.
You chuckled, staring at your surroundings once more, before affirming with a grin. "Yup, now!"
Before anything could be said, a literal flying yellow thing whizzed towards the class B team, Tetsutetsu jumping back on instinct. Since he had to stay intact on his team, he was forced to catch the item. The iron-head held the thing like it was fire, before realizing what the item was.
He peered a bit closer, it was the bright-mouse! His eyes gleamed, and he smirked triumphantly, "I got the headband!"
Awase, one of Tetsutetsu's teammates, jerked in surprise. "Wait, seriously?"
Midoriya's group looked to be too focus on a moving Shoji and another incoming class B team, but Ibara had an inkling that this was far too simple. They wouldn't act like this if they had lost their prized headband. The vined-haired girl made eye contact with you, who appeared to be watching blandly. That is until she caught the slight movement of a yellow-lightning bolt tail on your shoulder. Her eyes widened upon noticing your glinting mischievous eyes, they got it wrong! Ibara's forehead creased before she whirled around to her group's rider. "Tetsutetsu-san, it's a hoax!"
"Hah?" the rugged boy peered down at the girl, before looking at the Pokémon at his hands. He felt embarrassed when he finally noticed not only there was no headband, this was not the mouse running around on Midoriya head. It looked like the mouse, in a sort of creepy way, with a darker undertone coating. What made him realize his mistake again was the swirled drawn eyes it had instead. It was a- "A Doll!?"
You chuckled, before turning your gaze to a slightly unaware Shoji, who was racing, as balls after balls were countered as if there was an invisible cover. You could hear the almost distraught wail belonging to none other than Mineta. "B-But how?!"
"The teams are closing in..." Midoriya murmured, as you peered over, watching as 2 class B groups closing you in from the back, with Tetsutetsu on the right, Hagakure on the front, and Shoji's group on the left. This was almost going too smoothly. You nudged Tokoyami, and he didn't need to be told twice.
"Dark Shadow! Grab!"
"Alright!" The entity swiped forward on Tetsutetsu's team, who once again flinched back as the 'doll' was plucked off their hand. With Dark Shadow swiftly maneuvering back to the group, you didn't hesitate to call out.
"Block us off more -Light screen!" Before peering behind to Pikachu, "Pikachu, as high as you can-then Thunderbolt!"
With your orders, the actions were quick. An invisible-like screen covered your team, as Pikachu jumped out into action, his cheeks sparking up with electricity. Pikachu's unwavering gaze examined on to each opponent before the sparking grew rowdier. You knew it was a matter of time before the mouse was going to release everything he's got.
Pikachu heaved, before releasing the thunderbolt, "Piiika-chuuuu!"
Like an explosion, the lightning flowed out of the mouse's pouches in dances, zapping out at the intended. The surrounding teams were electrified, as each of their eyes widened in horror and pretty much pain. They stopped in step, well more liked they were too paralyzed to act, as the students groaned at the electricity running through their body.
Honestly, it looked pretty hurtful and you sort of felt bad. You know just how bad getting electrified was since you lived with said mouse for years. You were sadly pretty much the victim to Pikachu's early first-stage evolution's dilemma, as Pikachu as a Pichu had real trouble with controlling his sparks.
You huffed a small laugh earning a glance from Tokoyami. Then again, you can't complain, can you? for you were just like the mouse during your early day childhood.
"Talk about a wild light show!" Present Mic was thankful he had his shades on, as he witnessed the full lightning attack on the few groups. Aizawa's eyes twitched at the sudden brightness.
"Hahaha-! I'm pretty sure you folks already saw what he could do at the obstacle race! Pikachu discharging electricity-! From its electricity-storing pouches on its cheeks!" Meowth patted his cheek cheekily, and for some reason was already garnering his own pair of sunglasses to avoid damage to his eyes. "This forest rat is friendly to its fellow kin, if they gather together they could even bring lightning storms! But not to worry-their friendly enough!"
With the light screen and reflect move your hidden psychic Pokémon sent out, your team was pretty much protected by the jolt of electricity. But it did send a bit of a jolt to everyone's body, Uraraka flinched with a small giggle.
Midoriya asserts when Pikachu completes his move. "Alright, let's get out of here before they catch up!"
Finishing the attack, Pikachu began free-falling to the ground, Dark Shadow swooping up to capture the mouse. "Gotcha!" The mouse shook its head as if waking up deliriously, before smiling at the dark entity with a chippered squeak. Dark Shadow appeared to understand, giving a friendly closed-eye smile. "No prob!"
The group was now rushing off, but that didn't stop you from telling Midoriya. "Grab the headbands Midoriya-kun!" The male took it with no question, the 2 class B groups that were still trying to overcome the small paralysis were frustrated at their loss, but Midoriya pushed forward with a determined gleam shining in his eyes.
"Hmhmhm~ We're really standing out now!" Hatsume couldn't help but comment, looking around peculiarly. "The little guy sure can light up a stadium hmm~?"
She eyed the mouse placing itself back on top of Midoriya's head. You quipped with a small grin. "That's the point Hatsume-san!"
The inventors' face seemed to shine in excitement, obviously wanting to show off more of her inventions. "That's good~!" She quickly turned her attention elsewhere, humming excitedly.
You shook your head, letting out a small laugh before assessing your teammates carefully if they were bothered at all. "The thunderbolt didn't hurt too much, did it? Sorry, light screen can only block off so much..."
"It's fine (Last)-san. With this, we could save up more chances to use the jet pack later on." Midoriya proceeded to say, rolling his shoulders just a tad bit, as he gently encircled the headbands around Pikachu's neck. "Not only that, but we're also able to grab a few extra headbands."
Uraraka perkily said with a small giggle. "It kind of tickled!" while an unbothered Hatsume prompted with a wide grin. "Didn't feel a thing!"
"Hmph, with this we can go against multiple opponents," Tokoyami commented further, his small smile seemed to reach his red eyes. You can't help but notice the underlying impressed stare he held, as you felt yourself feeling a tad bit bashful.
"Good then." You nodded thankfully. "Good job, as always Pikachu!" the mouse nodded with a happy grin, probably having loads of fun before you moved your attention to the second Pokémon. "And to you too, of course, Reuniclus!"
3rd Pokémon: Reuniclus
The said psychic Pokémon popped out from its hiding spot, which happens to just be below Midoriya, floating near an awed Uraraka gaping at the strange being. The olive-colored Pokémon was surrounded in what looked to be an odd fern-colored liquid, that formed two hands. It was a strange-looking Pokémon, unlike the majestic Arcanine and cuddly Pikachu, as the Pokémon chirped happily.
"Woah, so we have another Pokémon making a scene!" Present Mic looked ecstatic, tugging the phone away from Aizawa's sight, all while trying to work the device to check it out. There were interested murmurs among the crowd, peering at the edge of their seat in renewed curiosity. "It looks nothing like we have scene-heck! It doesn't look animal!"
Meowth got right back to his groove. "What? Did you think all Pokémon were based on animals?" Meowth tutted with a jeering shake of his head, grinning impudently. "You're wrong if you think so! Don't forget we got ourselves an inorganic-based creature out on the field- a cotton candy half-witted Pokémon, Swirlix right there!" He motioned to one of the large screens to a small cut to the said Pokémon drifting around with its tongue sprayed out. It's looking pretty silly Meowth can't help but think, before shaking his head. "But let's get that outta the way to introduce Reuniclus!"
Reuniclus: The multiplying Pokémon
A Psychic Type
When Reuniclus shake hands, a network forms between their brains, increasing their psychic power.
You rolled your eyes from where you were, as Pikachu squeaked a few aggravated words. "Don't worry Pikachu, he won't get away from sprouting insults to Swirlix." There were a few more mumbled 'Pika's' before you added. "and for calling you a rat."
"Multiplying huh?" Eraserhead scuffed, eyeing the Pokémon below. "Like the process of Mitosis perhaps?"
"Hey there! your pretty smart there Eraserhead!" Meowth somehow still sounded jeering when he was giving out compliments. "That's right! This particular Pokémon is based on cells! Well, at least its first evolution is, their second evolution is literally a mitosis pokemon!"
"Alright, what's its power?" Present Mic questioned curiously, but some words from Meowth's sentence kind of got him confused.
"Well, they can crush boulders psychically! Using their weird psychic powers to do things as they please." Meowth pressed his forefingers on his temple as if thinking harshly to move a simple glass of water. Meowth simply peered his eyes to the other teachers with a smirk, before crossing his arms. "Makes sense given they're a psychic type. It's pretty neat though, eh?"
"Their pretty out there, but they do look neat!" Present Mic added with a thumbs up, but he seemed pretty curious about something else. "Though on another note, you keep talking about types and evolution, what's all that about?"
The cat earlier at ease expression evaporated the instant the words were said. He already felt spent making the unenlightened man flinch, confused at the weary stare sent his way. "W-What?" Present Mic questioned, that made Meowth sigh heavily. The cat really, really wanted to ignore the question altogether, but he knew practically everyone at the stadium is probably as ignorant on the matter too as the blond. Alright, the cat's got some explaining to do.
Midoriya's eyes practically shined in astonishment, you had to hold yourself back from chuckling up a storm at the pure innocence of his stare landing upon the levitating psychic Pokémon, who practically floated above the plain boy with a cheerful attitude. "Wow! It's so cool! Reuniclus right? So a psychic type probably means relating to soul and mind, like clairvoyance or perhaps telepathy? Is that how it holds the liquid surrounding it? Or maybe that's just part of its body as a whole?"
You didn't bother hiding your laughter at that, finding Midoriya's nerdy sprouts rather endearing as he lightly blushed in embarrassment at being caught. Uraraka didn't bother to wait as she had to comment with an awed cheer. "It's so cute!"
"You guys get it!" You were pleased with their reactions, watching as the Reuniclus floated down towards you, moving its liquid arm to pat your head persistently all while releasing a few bubbled cries. You shook your head at the odd feeling, a rather wet sensation at that, before smiling at it gleefully. "Alright, Alright, cut it out Reuniclus! You'll get your chance to use those arms of yours later!"
The Pokémon gurgled another cry, before floating back to its spot next to a watchful and absorbed Midoriya. The green-haired boy was seemingly contemplating about something, as if recognizing a certain aspect about Reuniclus. He perked, his head whiplashed to your direction. "(Last)-san, a psychic type would be like Sylveon and Gardevoir right?"
Your eyes widened in surprise, as you gaped at his ecstatic expression. "Y-Yeah...though Gardevoir's a dual-typed Pokémon." He looked gladdened that he got it correct, as your expression softened. "I'm surprise you got their names so quickly..."
Midoriya was proud of himself for getting it right, after all, he would never forget all that information you had given him. He made sure to listen keenly to your explanations of the Pokémon whenever you were willing to sprout out any material regarding them. He leaned forward to question again when he clamped up. His expression twisted when he noticed your slightly odd look. You appeared bothered by something, as your brows furrowed troubledly. "...(Last)-san?"
"Ah-sorry, got lost in thought..." You shook your head, smiling to dispel your friends' worry. It didn't stop Midoriya from noticing the still odd strain in your look, but he shook it off. This might not be time.
Before he could question it anymore in his mind, your earlier uneased expression disappeared as your once again soothing gaze met his, your smile appearing more honest. "Let's focus on the games Midoriya-san."
"R-Right!"
Though your team had electrocuted practically half the groups around, that didn't mean there weren't a few others still following on your group's footsteps.
[You are challenged by Class 1-B president, Kendo!]
Kendo's team appeared before yours, side-stepping into your path with a determined stare as her right-enlarged hand hovered above. Your group was forced into a standstill, as you whispered. "...Poltergeist, the front horse...Big Fist, the rider..." Midoriya was already keeping a tight hold on Pikachu's hind legs as Dark Shadow moved to shield the forefront.
"(Last)-chan! I'm not going to go easy on you!" Kendo said, smiling effortlessly, pulling her hand back as if ready to strike. The class B president looked confident in her stance, and it made you a tad bit excited for the battle.
You smiled back, "I didn't think you would! Reuniclus!" Your psychic Pokémon quickly got in the way from Kendo's hand, holding onto the expanded appendage with its liquid-based arms, holding the hand up with surprising strength that had Kendo's eyes widening a margin.
With the Pokémon holding back the class B president, for now, your team was about to make an escape when the ever-conceited, blond, class B student appeared, his cocky smile the first thing you recognize. The sight of the pretentious boy made your mood quickly dampened as you unconsciously rolled your eyes. Looks like you'll have to escape to the back.
"Oi Get back here! This is our Counterattack!" You heard Tetsutetsu bellow from behind, cutting off your earlier decision.
"Uwa...They're persistent!" Uraraka couldn't help but sprout, straightening in surprise.
"Another onslaught...It doesn't appear we can repeat our earlier results." Tokoyami murmured, as you tensely nodded. With Kendo still being held back by Reuniclus, the Pokémon was too preoccupied to make another invisible shield for your earlier attack-meaning Pikachu's thunderbolt attack could hit you. And you definitely didn't need Pikachu moving around with the poltergeist girl so close around too.
Taking in your surroundings, you could see Kendo struggling to maintain dominance with Reuniclus, who was pushing back ever so slightly. Reuniclus seemed to be struggling just a tad bit too but took the challenge in stride. Meanwhile, Tetsutetsu's team had revived swiftly from Pikachu's thunderbolt and were trying to make their way to your group again. They were tenacious, but you expected no less from Tetsutetsu. Lastly, there was Monoma's group, taking Kendo's groups' place in blocking your path. Monoma, for reasons unknown, was quiet, making you feel muddled. If it wasn't for the still obvious cunningness etched in his expression you might've been relatively relaxed.
"...This is a bit unexpected of you, Monoma-kun," You cool-headedly stated, making sure to keep a close eye on him. Tokoyami kept his eyes focused onto the incoming Tetsutetsu with Dark Shadow, as you could see Kendo still trying to hold onto her fort with Reuniclus strength. "Thought you were going to aim out of the spotlight."
"I still am," Monoma replied, his smirk rose as his team got into a defensive move. "But letting a chance like this slip would be moronic," You made small eye contact with Midoriya, who was assessing the situation, as Monoma looked ready to strike. "I told you (Last)-chan, don't undervalue us so soon-!"
They moved forward first, and Monoma's hand twisted veraciously mimicking the movements of a drill. You saw Midoriya's eyes flash in recognition, as he recoiled away as the arm flew a little too close to comfort. Pikachu had no choice but to follow along with Midoriya's movements, yelping. At the last minute, Monoma's drill-hands stopped twisting, and he used this moment to swipe for the 10-Million-point headband.
"Pikachu, dodge!" You yelled.
Luckily the mouse heard, he jumped a little too late, but he was able to avoid Monoma's grabbing hand. The class B student twitched when he realized he missed, but he grasps what he could. He pulled back quickly, and you realized he took one of your newly acquired headbands. "He got one!" Uraraka yelped with a frown.
"It's alright..." You reassured quickly, it was just one extra headband after all. Pikachu still had the 10-million-point headband wrapped around his little head, so the only thing you need to worry about is getting out of this situation. "Reuniclus, fall back!"
Reuniclus peered back, before pushing away Kendo's hand to retreat near you. You noticed Dark Shadow still preoccupied with Tetsutetsu in the back, and Monoma's team looking ready to strike once more. Midoriya voiced, "It doesn't look good, we'll need to escape...!"
"We got one, we can get the other." Monoma twirled the recently collected band on his forefinger, looking prouder at his accomplishment. He started to move forward, using the same drill-quirk as an offensive. Kendo's team was also on the offensive, whether it would be on your or Monoma's it didn't matter and tried to make a move on Monoma's team. It was quickly blocked by Kosei's solid air, causing her to glare as her team was about to strike.
"Light screen!" Monoma's drill-hand didn't make it far, stopping at the invisible screen. You whipped your head to Midoriya, "We should fly off, the screen can only hold on for so long!"
Through the screen, Monoma continued to taunt. "Didn't you say something about a wild beast earlier? I don't see it right now," His eyes landed both on Reuniclus and Pikachu as he drilled his hand through the indistinguishable screen that seemed to shake uncertainly. His eyes hardened cockily. "I know the rest of class A is going to be a breeze to take the attention away compare to you, (Last)-chan," He's definitely picking a fight with you, "But even if it's a moment, I'll take the spotlight from the Pokémon."
Pikachu normally sweet disposition turned sour. Pikachu's found another guy he dislikes.
"...He is adamant on overwhelming you, (Last)." Tokoyami comments, while your eyes slit seriously, as he continued to drill down on the barrier. You scoffed, barely audible to your friend's ears, as you eyed Monoma snidely.
"You say that, but you're still trying to blend in, Copycat?"
Monoma simply smiled- the annoyingly cocky one- in response, as you shared the same look back.
With Tetsutetsu's team, the group was having a hard time trying to get past a resolute Dark Shadow making sure to block their way from getting too close to Midoriya's team. Tetsutetsu gritted his teeth, finding that things don't seem to be working in his favor at all, rather it kept getting harder than ever. He shared a glance with Ibara, who silently moved a single vine towards the occupied 10-million-point group. She was surprised when her plans were foiled so quickly as Dark Shadow whipped over to block it too.
"Wha-How do they know what we're going to do?!" Tetsutetsu can't help but slightly fumed, temper rising agitatedly. Tetsutetsu doesn't necessarily consider himself to be the brainiest guy, he leans on the brawnier side for sure, but even his teammates were stumped. Man, it's like they knew their quirks-
Realization slapped him in the face. For the first battle, it was a silent agreement between everyone in class B to keep their quirks hidden to scout their neighboring class's quirks. Sure, not everyone was aboard Monoma's idea, but it was a good idea to keep their quirks a secret for a moment-even Tetsutetsu can admit that. But what he can't believe was how the entire class forgot about one small thing. Now it makes sense how Juzo had no time to soften the ground before Midoriya's group took off, or how they were prepared for Ibara-san's vines. It was because you knew.
"Damn it!" Tetsutetsu cursed, earning small stares from his frazzled teammates. One would think he was frustrated if it wasn't for the huge grin spread crossed his face. He's been foiled for now, but he's still going to one-up your team-somehow!
"Wait, you know their quirks?!" Midoriya and Uraraka had looked at you with big eyes. Your newly formed team was talking in a corner, as Hatsume was busy placing the jetpack carefully on Midoriya's back. Tokoyami was silently listening from the side, as Dark Shadow peered over at a curious Pikachu still perched on your shoulder.
You gave a nod, chuckling a bit. "I honestly think they forgot about it...I guess I didn't stick out that much." You awkwardly gave out, feeling embarrassed after hearing Monoma's words during your 'chat'. From what he said, it sounded like they planned to keep their quirks hidden in the first round to strike at the second game. It was either they didn't really care, or they completely forgot that you were there as the teacher's assistant and knew each of their quirks in detail. "Though I hardly believe you'll remember their quirks right away, it's best to know beforehand right?"
"Y-Yes! It would really help!" Midoriya nodded gratefully. His eyes looked to be scanning your lips, even when no words had been said. The boy looked ready to fish out his notebook once more. (Sadly he had to leave it in the breakroom...)
"But even when we know what quirks they have, we might not remember right?" Uraraka questioned, she tapped her pointer fingers together worriedly. She pouted a bit, "You said it yourself that we can't remember them right away (Name)-chan, and I'm still distracted by our core plans."
You reassured her quickly. "Don't worry, I promise to remind you guys of their quirks once we come in contact with them, as long as you get the base of their quirks, it wouldn't be a problem."
"You should probably send signals to keep them from noticing, or at least keep our voices down." Hatsume inputted, which you agreed with promptly.
"Right, but even knowing their quirks, it might be best to avoid some that we might not have an advantage with..." You started watching secretly as Dark Shadow and Pikachu were introducing themselves. They seem to hold interest with one another. "Like Monoma, he's the pretentious guy I was talking to before. His quirk is Copycat; he can copy other quirks for 5 minutes if he touches them. From what he said earlier, it sounded like he's not only aiming for us but class A due to...reasons." You were pretty sure all your classmates made a face, knowing that reasons meant 'Bakugo'. Hatsume just looked bemused.
"But that doesn't mean he won't try to get our headband, honestly I wouldn't be surprised to find him attacking us." You coughed, scratching your cheek embarrassedly. "I might've riled him up a bit too much earlier..."
"...So we should be wary of his team...alright. Then how about him?" Tokoyami abruptly asked, looking at someone behind you. You followed his gaze, learning to find he was gazing at an apathetic Shinso. Oh...well it would be only fair to your team, you can't necessarily keep it quiet out of prejudice.
"Well for Shinso, it's brainwashing." You eyed Shinso from afar, "But I don't know the details on how it works."
You spoke the truth; the subject was still something Shinso didn't have full confidence in explaining. Nonetheless, you respected his choice and left the topic out when you were hanging out. Midoriya looked mildly interested at the quirks, eyes zooming to the copycat then to the purple-haired boy.
"Brainwash...then, we should be careful of him." Midoriya began, nodding his head slowly, processing the situation at hand slowly. Then he looked towards you with gleaming eyes. "Amazing (Last)-san! This would a be great help. Though the 5th member was supposed to make the game harder for my team-the truth is-!"
His expression brightened considerably. "You're our greatest asset!"
You sighed, feeling your cheeks light up at the sudden memory. Peering over at Tetsutetsu, you knew he finally realized about the small little fact about you knowing their quirks. Upon Tetsutetsu's realization, the memory of the small conversation you had with the group alit once more, and you were left feeling embarrassed. 'Midoriya, you're strangely a smooth talker...'
"We need to get out of here!" Midoriya concludes as Monoma continued to drill his hand into the light screen. Your team was still having trouble trying to get out of the current predicament, as time was now an impractical waste as things moved too fast for your liking. You shook the memory off, trying to come up with a cohere and an effective plan to get out of this situation.
Tokoyami's eyes watched his surroundings like a hawk, trying to take in each information of their circumstances as much as he could. The 'eternal darkness' determines, "Firstly, we need to throw them off our back end. An adequate amount of distance from the other would help for our escape."
"That I can do-Reuniclus, Hammer arm!" You ordered, the Pokémon perking considerably. Reuniclus floated in front of the group, blocking the front if Kendo and Monoma's teams tried anything, before using its liquid arms to slam its fists on the concrete ground, effectively smashing it. The teams withdraw in shock, taking steps back just like you expected as Reuniclus gurgled a happy cheer.
"Another interesting fact about Reuniclus is that it used its psychic powers to control their arms!" Meowth started, after drilling small facts about types and evolution to the crowd and Present Mic, who was, to the surprise of Meowth, able to understand his outline easily. Meowth decided from early on that he didn't need to explain too much, and had begun sprouting out the basics gist of everything. At the end of it all, he can't help but be slightly impressed by the quick learner. "It's much more accustomed to swinging its fist than using its actual psychic powers."
"So it's those type-! Some people love showing raw power instead of fighting with their quirks eh?" Present Mic nodded understandingly. "Can't blame it, that was some real strength there!" The ever-so-loud-mouthed hero exclaimed, looking at his colleagues for their input.
"It's impractical..." Aizawa downturned quickly.
"Yeah, it's pretty much a showoff, like showboat here." Meowth shrugged.
Present Mic heaved in a large sigh. "Eraser, The Pokémon is still using a psychic power y'know! And stop making fun of me Mouser!"
"It was fun Kendo-chan...but we'll be taking our leave now!" You smiled cheerily to a stunned Kendo, whose team was dumbstruck in their spot before you moved your gaze towards a peeved Monoma, smirking.
"And not bad Monoma, you caught us by surprise there. I'm pretty impressed." His expression softened just a tad, but you can still see the irk hidden behind his grey irises. "But you're wrong about the thing before. I wasn't talking about the Pokémon- I'm talking about another beast..." Your eyes darted to the side briefly, before meeting his to see he still hadn't the slightest idea about what you were talking about, the confusion in his expression was almost laughable.
"No matter, thanks again for not treating us too roughly, Monoma-kun." You gave him a slight wink, the action surprising the blond who blushed up to his roots-indignantly or not, you weren't quite too sure. He stuttered out an inaudible word, garnering glances from his confused teammates as you chuckled discreetly.
With everyone finally backed away, Midoriya hastens. "We're going!"
He fired up the jetpack once more, and your group flew off to the sky once more. Reuniclus flopped on your head, deciding to enjoy a small break on your skull. You sighed, finally feeling the tiredness seep away once you were away from the persistent groups. "Even with knowing all of their quirks, it was hard to fight back..." You rolled your shoulders, peering down to the frozen figure of Monoma, who was being smacked back to reality by his teammates. "But I have a feeling Monoma's team won't bother us now."
Midoriya nodded, "It looks like Monoma-san only decided to use oneof his teammate's quirk to still keep himself under the radar. They're still trying to keep it discreet, so they wouldn't openly pursue us. They just tried to take their chances, which ended in their favor by getting one of our collect headbands. Luckily we still got the 10 million headband." Pikachu pawed the single headband wrapped around his neck, then to the numerous-point headband worriedly. "But we can't be too sure if they'll stop chasing us...we'll just have to keep holding out on our own as best as we can."
You nodded, humming, "Right, I just wonder if he'll heed my words, about the wild beast..."
"Wild beast..." Hatsume voiced in surprise.
"Heed...?" Uraraka blinked.
"...What do you mean by that (last)-san?" Tokoyami asked as Dark Shadow gazed around in case of sudden attacks. The two other girls seemed to have a Deja vu moment with Tokoyami about his word choice, and now yours, but no one paid any mind to it.
"Told Monoma-san to be careful of a wild beast..." You simply answered, watching the ground.
"What wild beast?" Midoriya joined in, curiously invested in the conversation. But honestly, Midoriya can make an educated guess on what you were talking about-his expression twisting at a memory.
An explosion rang far below your group, it sounded minuscule, until it started getting louder as if it was getting closer. Your group glanced down, while you didn't even bother, sighing almost tiredly. "...That wild beast..."
Bakugo was making his way to your group, using his explosion as leverage to get closer. It was smart but reckless, you thought begrudgingly, as you glanced down to see Bakugo zooming faster. He sneered once he reaches eye-level with your team, his points proudly showcased on his forehead. "Don't get too excited-!" You flinched, you also heard Uraraka yelp, upon watching as Bakugo pulled a hand back, prepared to set off an explosion. "Damn you!"
You were a little too late to ask Reuniclus for another 'light screen', luckily Midoriya acted faster, "Tokoyami-kun!"
Dark Shadow moved to shield the group once the explosion was set off. It was a huge attack, and it made the entity recoil a bit in response. You and Midoriya noticed the action, watching Dark Shadow who was luckily able to block off the attack seemed utterly discontented. Bakugo's brows furrow at the same time, making a slight noise in the back of his throat. "What was that?" He mumbled before he was forced to go back down by what appears to be Sero's tape.
"Waa-! He separated from his cavalry! Is that even allowed!" The crowd was jostled in excitement, as Present Mic questioned deafeningly. Meowth flinching, closing his ears all while grumblingly at the loudness.
"It's technical, so it's okay! It wouldn't have been if he touched the ground!" Midnight answered for the shocked presenter, giving a thumbs up.
Your team made its way back to the ground, with Uraraka steadily landing once more. Just as it had been from previously, class A is taking most of the spotlight. Even with that little ruffle earlier with some class B students, your group had the attention stayed upon yours. The crowd continues to awe in a burst of thrill and suspense, watching the games with big eyes and restless jitters. While the cameras of the press continued to snap, looking like blinking flashes of stars up close, hoping to grab the best shots they could garner from the festival. And all of this had not once tone down ever since you brought out the Pokémon.
"As expected, the first-place team is being attacked and class A is on their heels. Everyone has the skills!" Present Mic mused, as more positive comments from the crowd seemed to amplify.
"Those flashy moves are so entertaining to watch!"
"Grab as many shots of the new creature as you can! Don't stray from that!"
"It's barely the second half, but the event's already more exciting than the last!"
"The Pokémon are definitely taking the spotlight this year! Class A too! Heard they worked together in the USJ incident!"
"A fight with villains makes that much of a difference?!"
"Now-! let's take a look at the points so far! 7 minutes have passed! The current ranking will be put on the screen." The screen abruptly changed to the ranking board, and the crowd grew more in confusion instead of glee at the sight. Meowth peered closer to the window with an unsurprised look, smirking interestedly, "Ooh~ pretty sly there..."
Present Mic did not follow Meowth's sentiment, appearing abruptly discomposed as he went to take a closer look. "Wait, hold on a second...Aside from Midoriya, Class A isn't doing so well."
"It appeared like what you said (Last), Class B has overshadowed our own." Tokoyami eyed the board, where only two groups belonging to class A had points, which happened to be just Todoroki and your team. You followed suit, quickly pinpointing Bakugo's team lackluster point. You scrutinized over to the explosive's group to see Monoma already there. You snickered.
"Well, there's nothing we could've done. I had speculations, but I didn't think class B was really going to pull through working together until I chatted with Monoma, and that was already halfway into our group discussion." You began, keeping an even smile even though there was a hint of annoyance radiating off you. "I hate to admit it, but Monoma's plan is pretty solid..."
Midoriya inputted seriously, "But based on that, it looks like they really wouldn't come after us for now." He glanced at Kaachan's figure, before adding on. "So the target on Pikachu should've lessened." His eyes gravitated to the top of his head, at least tried too, as Pikachu held tightly on his green locks with no fear. Your Pikachu seems to get more confident with each passing second.
Midoriya smiled, "I think it's going to be easier for us...!"
Midoriya jinxed your group. He jinxed it.
Pikachu was suddenly wrapped up in a moist extended appendage, taking its time to wrap around the mouse's chubby built before flinging him off. The mouse squeaked, before being dragged off behind your group to Shoji's team. Your eyes widened, as you heard Mineta did a second take on his evil laugh, sounding diabolical. "I betcha ya didn't expect this-!"
Shoot, you didn't consider there was someone else in Shoji and Mineta's team. "Asui-san?!" Midoriya cried, not only in shock but this time horror, as Pikachu was dragged off into the depth of Mezo's cavern-like arms. Reuniclus who was relaxing on your head perked, gurgling in uncertainty.
"Sorry-! I didn't think Tsuyu-chan was there!" You apologized, feeling uncertain about what to do. Your group was left gapping for a moment, unable to form articulate words for a second when your attention was caught by the sound of roller blades dragging on the ground.
Todoroki's group appeared before you, the seriousness etched in Todoroki's face was almost comical at this current situation, as the half cold-hot boy met your eyes, scrutinizing your form. "I told you...I won't make the same mistake as before." He asserts, making sure to keep hold of your strangely alarmed eyes for more than a second.
When he finally pulled his bicolored eyes away, they raised to catch a glimpse of the headband and the mouse, their one goal in surpassing the number one group at the moment, only to find something that made him confused. They both were missing.
He blinked, there was genuine surprise in his expression. He thought your group was going to pull the same plan your group did in the first half, stern cold eyes trying to pinpoint your next action until he took notice of your team's frazzled appearance and your especially soured demeanor. He blinked once more. "...You-,"
"Yes..." You stressed with a sigh. "We lost the headband. Not only that, but we also lost our rider."
❧
And here's to another chapter! Yay! It's a bit quicker than the last time, so hopefully, this is good. Actually, this chapter was supposed to be longer, as I wanted to finish the cavalry battle in one go, but it ended being way too long. So I cut the story, though not evenly. The next chapter will be within a few days or a week so stay tuned!
The cavalry ended being quite a fun chapter for me, but it was also a tad bit stressful as I had rechecked multiple times if these certain situations are correct and such. I tried expanding more interaction with other characters, class B, but it ended being a little difficult to do so with so much action handed out. Don't worry, more interaction will come by!
We also have new Pokémon joining our ranks this time, it's Reuniclus! I thought it would be a cute touch to the story, and it seems fitting enough in my eyes! And honestly, I'm sure you guys realized what the other unsaid Pokémon was. I'd be pretty surprised if you didn't haha.
The last thing I wanted to ask is more of me just asking for opinions. So far, ever since the sports festival started in the story, the chapter have been pretty long, like about 30+ each chapter. Most of the reasons are because there's just so much going on the sports festival, as I write about the usual Bnha with the additions of more Pokémon. Honestly just wanted to know if perhaps if you guys find the chapter to excessively long, and prefer it to be cut off a bit? Or perhaps you're fine with the long chapters? Just wanted in outside opinion!
Anyways, thanks again for all the love and support, I'll edit the next chapter as best as I can!
Today's thoughts: I can't believe I just noticed Tetsutetsu has small dots for pupils...
