❦ Nine
There was a time and place for everything, and frankly this wasn't the right time.
You trudged yourself back to class, hoping to grab your backpack you carelessly left. Walking away from Midoriya and All Might, your mind swirled with the events that happened, and the words your classmate had uttered.
"I got my quirk from someone else."
I'm gonna make it my own someday!"
You heaved a sigh. What did it all mean? Midoriya was definitely not the type to joke around, but his words almost seemed unworldly. But then again, your own secrets were quite unworldly as well.
'A quirk from someone else..who?' You thought wordlessly, twirling one of your snow-white strands on your finger. A quirk that catalysts extreme speed and super strength, but resulted himself with broken bones. Was it perhaps a family member? Or maybe a re-known hero?
Jittery, you stumbled up the stairs, heavily weighted by hundreds of possibilities of Midoriya's condition. The window by the stairs gave you the sight of the orange-red sky, as All Might was now chatting with Midoriya. You frowned, shaking your head to forget the endless reasonings to Midoriya's impulsive confession.
As much as you wanted to pry, you knew you weren't one to talk. As Midoriya made it obvious he wasn't going to open up more, you had your own things you'd like to keep hidden for the mean time.
It wasn't the right time to tell them about it.
Nor is it the right time for you to hear Midoriya's explanation.
That's why you'll respect his boundaries just as he will.
Reaching the entrance of your classroom, you were stopped promptly by someone's hand holding your elbow, causing you abruptly halt. You glanced at the perpetrator, (eye color) eyes meeting familiar Indigo eyes tiredly boring at yours.
The male sighed through his nose, "Hey. Where did you go?"
You blinked, surprise at your good friend's appearance. "Eh-I just went out to..talk to someone." You explained, as you glance at the hand still kept on your elbow.
Shinso followed your gaze, letting you go promptly as he gave a tired look. He looked slightly more imaginably bored, his tall body was leaning on the wall, holding his phone in one hand, probably to entertain himself, as his dull tired eyes bore at yours.
Now that you think about it, the hero class went much longer than you thought it would. As Shinso was in the general department, he finished much earlier.
'Did he wait for me to finish class?' You frowned guiltily, as you watch the male pocket his smartphone, scratching his head tiredly.
"I'm sorry, did you wait long?" You worriedly asked him, as he shrugged lightly, a smile lifting up lightly.
"Nah, not too long."
You smiled slowly back, feeling bad, as you decided to quickly enter the class to grab your bag. Waving goodbye at the few students still loitering around, as you grabbed the indigo haired boy hand. You started dragging him towards your home, as Shinso grunted lightly.
"Let's go!" You grinned, as you dragged him towards the outside the school, as Shinso went along with your antics, trudging after your quick-paced walk. You passed the three girls, Mina, Uraraka, and Tsuyu, who all were looking out of the window. Perhaps they had saw the dramatic rivalry scene as well.
Guess you weren't the only audience of that spectacle.
Except you had a front row seat.
Tsuyu glanced at your passing form, as the two others perked up, meeting your gaze. You smiled lightly, not taking your hand away from Shinso's, pulling up another hand to wave.
"See you guys tomorrow!"
"Hey." The dragged Shinso narrowed his eyes lightly, trying to pry his hand away feeling a bit shy. You paid no mind, as the trio waved, albeit awkwardly at the sight.
The sight of their classmate dragging a boy by the hands out of school, like a couple.
With goodbyes exchange, You were already by the stairs walking down to the entrance with Shinso in tow. The male exasperated as he slowly followed behind you.
"Who was that?" Tsuyu asked curiously, her wide eyes glancing at the other girls who might have answer.
"I don't know. (Last)-chan sat with him at lunch today too." Uraraka added, a small frown tugging her lips. What was your connection with him?
"Perhaps a boyfriend?" Mina pointed out, looking curiously over at the 'couple' making their way out of school. She perked a bit, moving a bit excitedly.
Uraraka did a double-take at the pink girl, eyes widening in effect, "W-what!?" It suddenly felt a bit tight in her heart, and she wasn't sure why.
"It could be." Tsuyu mused, eyes watching as she saw the two reaching the large courtyard, eyes not staying to long to notice where they were headed. The frog-quirked girl tilted her head in confusion, she didn't know that much of you yet, so she suppose you might have a boyfriend.
"Right?!" Mina grinned, not surprisingly enough feeling a bit thrilled. Now this is more like high school! Romances everywhere, and teachers with thick book of course, but romance! "I mean you said, she eats lunch with him, they go home together, and they hold hands..maybe their already off on a date!"
"D-date? So soon?" The brunette pointed out, tilting her head to the side as Mina nodded eagerly. "Eh-I don't know..(last)-chan seems so focus on other things though.." Uraraka commented quietly, feeling shy. Mina paid no mind to that, seemingly excited.
As the two chattered on the prospect of your 'love life', Tsuyu could only glance once more towards the 'couple', noticing as they avoided the gateway, moving in a complete different direction. "Kero?"

"This whole time.." Shinso jutted out, looking up towards the building.
"You lived in here?" More or less, Shinso was both in utter shock and frustration, but you can only see the slight irritation crossing his feature, as you laughed nervously.
It wasn't a shocker that he was shock. He never knew you lived in U.A dorm, neither did he knew why you were living their in the first place. He barely knew anything about you, and that frustrated him a bit for a long time now.
There was so much that he felt like he didn't know about you. You were more secretive than you let on, yet he wasn't one to pry to much as you weren't either. But even he felt like he should at least know enough, finding himself a pretty close friend of yours.
Unless you didn't even think of him as a friend.
Perhaps that's why he kinda blurted out those words in lunch, the stoic boy just wanting to bluntly admit what he felt about it. His frown was fairly visible, as you nervously brought a hand to pat his back.
"Well, yeah." You glance at the dorm, feeling nervous. "Mother was acquaintance of principal Nezu, and Aizawa-sensei."
You started walking towards your house, gesturing him to follow. He trailed after, admit-tingly still occupied with different thoughts as you took out your keys.
The indigo-haired male glance through the window, it was a little to dark to see inside, but he could see the makeshift of a comfortable-looking couch. Something abruptly shifted, a dark figure making him blink his eyes. He glance over at your form fumbling with the keys as he glance towards the window once more, seeing nothing again.
He narrowed his bagged eyes, rubbing his nape in confusion. Perhaps a trick of his eye.
As you insert the key, you turned it over, opening the door a smidge. Before you opened it wider, you hesitantly looked back at him. His eyes meeting your nervous look, as you pressed your lips tightly.
"Shinso." He watched as you glance towards the inside of your house, as you looked towards him. "There's, something I want to show you."
Shinso didn't reply, but he didn't waver, he had feeling this would happen. You guessed that was a good sign, as you sighed through your nose.
"I'm gonna show you something..much different. Well not that weird, but you probably never heard of it before-" you rambled, as Shinso gave you a exasperated look, evidentially shutting you up.
Opening the door, you entered with Shinso trailing after. You glance around the mess hall, looking around for the Pokemon you left in the building to walk around. Strangely it was a bare from the usual sights you were greeted.
"Hey, I'm home!" You called over, feeling awkward as Shinso behind you peered inside the room, looking around the dorm.
No response.
You hummed in confusion, entering deeper into the hall. Where were they?
"Your living with somebody?" He nonchalantly asked from the spot he stood as he gave a good look around with a slight murmur. It was much cozier than he thought.
"Somewhat." You admitted, looking under a table, as you called for the critters supposed to be playing around the hall. "Hey, Come out!"
Shinso didn't move from his spot, as he watched you walk around, calling for someone. He frowned, was the secret something with this mysterious roommate? Does he need to see them that bad?
"Maybe their not home." He commented, as you looked around worriedly, dropping your bag by the clean couch, as you answered briefly.
"They should be..." You glance towards the couch, only to be surprise at the sight of the Pokemon. Shinso followed your gaze, and for a moment, he took a step back.
"Serperior!" You called over at it, a slight smile lifting at the familiar Pokemon as you walked towards the sleeping grass Pokemon. It's large snake-like body heaved and sighed to indicate his asleep state. The Pokemon opened an eye, following with another as it perched its head up to meet your friendly form.
It looked slightly away from you, making you sigh when you got close to give it a hug. "Still mad with me huh?" You pointed out, simply smiling lightly as you petted its head, which it took begrudgingly.
No affections since you left it! But head-pats are too hard to resist.
"Where are the others?" You asked, as the fierce eyed Pokemon simply didn't answer. It gave a small look around, only to look at you blankly.
"Ah-you don't know huh?" You sighed, chuckling lightly at the pokemon's behavior.
Shinso's eyes never left the scene in front of him, his breath hitched. He never saw anything like it before, and he didn't know what to say when he saw you act so cuddly with it. His slight tense body seemed to relax a bit, as heaved an uneasy breath.
It looks like a snake, it has to be your huge pet snake you homed in the dorm.
Feeling another set of eyes on his form, Serperior moved to stare at the male in the mess hall, and the Pokemon seemed to glare more fiercely at the boy, who stood awkwardly avoiding eyes. It made him stiffen for some reason.
Serperior
A Grass Type
It can stop its opponents' movement with just a glare. It takes in solar energy and boosts it internally.
You chopped the pokemon's head lightly, making it stop to glare at you lightly. "No glaring!" You scolded, as the Pokemon huffed. The Pokemon seemed to pretend he wasn't glaring at the male once again when you looked away, much to Shinso's disappointment.
'I don't know why..but I don't think it likes me.' Shinso sighed through his nose, eyes glancing at your body looking around once more.
He moved towards you, making a beeline, to hopefully avoid the creature. Serperior seemed to only glare harder much too Shinso's chagrin. He stood by you, as you called again for someone else.
"Uh-who are you calling?"
"The others." You simply replied, to occupied to fully answer the general department student, who was as lost as you are.
"Other snakes?"
Serperior hissed a bit, making the male glance back slightly, face still void of emotion as he leaned alittle closer to speak under his breath. You chuckled, as you rolled your eyes.
"No-not snakes b-"
Out of nowhere, you watched in surprise as something launched to Shinso's face, practically right on top of it, as the male stumbled, ending up on his bottom as you heard the loud thud echoing the hall.
Pikachu was stuffed right on to his face, and didn't seem to be going let go any sooner, as the boy tried to grab the mouse off of him. You watched awestruck, as Aipom decided it would jump on your back, using its hand-tail to steady himself.
You blinked down at the odd sight in front of you, frowning as you look towards the monkey. "You did this didn't you?"
It's not exactly surprising if the monkey somehow convince Pikachu to attack Shinso. It wasn't the first time either. Shinso continued to attempt to pull off the mouse, still persistent, of his face.
The indigo furred trickster just gave you a Cheshire grin, comfortably cuddling into your back as you sigh. Before you were going to tell Pikachu to get of the poor male's face, you could see the blink of electricity lighting up, bubbling even, as the Pokemon was getting agitated.
'Oh dear-' grabbing the yellow Pokemon, you held it close to you.
Shinso blinked up, hearing a loud zap of electricity. He had opened his eyes to see a rather electrocuted you, burnt to the crisp, with the monkey in your back in a similar position. The thing that attached itself on his face looked a bit anxious now.
"That was..?" You stare at the male apathetically, who looked beyond surprise. For once he didn't see, so aloof nor bored. The strange surprise look he held was small, but was evidentially there. Even still feeling the burn of electricity jotting up your spine, You smiled slightly, taking a step towards him.
"A part of my quirk.."
No sooner were you both sitting on one of the dining tables, as you got some drinks for both of you to take. Shinso tapped the table impatiently, his eyes glancing at the table top as you hesitantly opened your mouth to explain.
"You wanted to know about my quirk, so I thought it would be a good idea to just show you." You told him, looking away as you tugged your collar. You glance at him, the apathetic male looking at you. "Even though it ended up all in flames.."
Shinso glanced at you. "More like in lightning."
You chuckled, brushing down the hair sticking up from the zap. You wondered curiously, as you lean in a bit. "So, Was it surprising?"
"I guess.." He replied, nodding lightly in thought. "So your quirk has something to do with..them?"
You nodded, lightly leaning against an arm you perched on the table. "Yeah, I kinda lure them towards me." You glance at Aipom, who was bothering Serperior about now, as Pikachu was out like a light beside the irritated grass Pokemon.
"What exactly are they?" He straightforwardly asked, peering at them in interest, leaning slightly closer so they didn't hear his obvious intrigue question.
You laughed, the tension eased a bit. "Well, they once were called monsters, or yokai." You thought, your mind remembering the words your mother explained.
"But I like to call them Pokemon."
"Pokemon?" He repeated, as you nodded with a laugh.
"Yeah! Pocket monsters-Pokemon for short." You pulled out a ball from you pocket, as you handed it over towards the male, who eyed it curiously. You pressed the button, as the ball enlarged much to Shinso's surprise.
"It's something my mom helped me create. It's a capsule that allows me to capture the Pokemon I find. Pocket monster just fitted them so well, especially since I can just carry them in my pockets." You explained to him, as you picked it up, throwing the ball away as the Pokemon inside came out, cheerfully trotting over to you.
"Eevee!"
Shinso watched as the Pokemon perched itself on your lap, as you played with the creatures ears. He looked over at it, leaning a bit closer as the Pokemon stared in similar confusion.
"Do..all of them have quirks?" He asked, as you petted the creature lightly, which cooed comfortably. You grinned, as the Pokemon perked at the question.
"Well.." You gave the Pokemon a pointed look. Eevee nodded affirmatively as it hopped off.
Once in a battle stance, much to your amusement, Eevee let out a battle cry throwing an attack against the wall. Dust literally covered your sight, as you swap it away to see the damage in panic. You cringed lightly, staring at the dent that appeared at the spot the little animal attacked on.
"Ah-I didn't mean that move..but good job." You threw a thumbs-up, forcing a smile, lighting up the creature more. 'I'm so in trouble..'
"...so I guess all of them do." Shinso stared at the damage, eyes moving towards the brown fluff excitedly trotting back to you, and the now dented wall.
You quickly corrected him. "Well, not exactly quirks, since quirks and Pokemon power are actually completely different in ways."
You sighed. When you thought talking about this to Aizawa-sensei and Principal Nezu was hard, you never knew how much harder it was to explain it to your friend. Shinso was silent, and rather reserve. He didn't seem in total lost to your explaination, like you had assume, but he was taking it all in slowly.
He nervously put out a hand to pet Eevee, who you held out alittle. The Pokemon relishing in the soft affection it's getting, squealing slightly in content, as a small smile bloomed on the apathetic male's face.
"Why do you capture them in these though?" He asked, his head tilting in confusion, as he continued his task on the creature. He still prefer cats, but they were still cute. He perked when he remembered something. "Those it have something to do with your job?"
You laughed awkwardly, as you nodded slowly. "Yeah, I was asked to help out in capturing the Pokemon when their bothering people. It was issued when my quirk came to light to the government." You ranted, as Shinso nodded.
"So that's why you leave in the middle of school sometimes."
"Yeah.."
"Are they difficult to catch?"
"Ah-sometimes.."
You watched as the conversation got a bit duller, as the male sucked in the information. You pursed your lips once more, worriedly looking at him. "I know it's alittle hard to take in?"
Shinso laughed lightly, his eyes meeting yours briefly as he glanced outside. The sun was almost gone, it was getting dark. "It's a bit surprising, but it's interesting."
You watched as he tapped his index against the table top, as the Pokemon upon your lap nudged you for attention after getting its fair share from Shinso. You sighed, as you took out your phone to entertain it. A small relief left you, maybe the conversation is finally ending.
"But." You perked at his words, as he looked at you seriously, laced in confusion.
"Why are you so secretive about it?"
The question knocked you off guard, as you fumbled to answer the question. For the longest time, actually the entire part of your life, you were never asked why you were so secretive about it. After all, it felt so natural too do so for some reason.
"I was told to not talk about it actually." You explained, eyes glancing around. "Boss said it was just something that we should all hide for the mean time. And not many people believe in them, as nobody really knows they exist because they don't show up much, so we don't tell anything to the public."
Shinso stayed silent for a moment, brushing a hand to his wild purple hair. "Is that why you want to be a vet?"
You paused. A vet. It's been awhile since you said that, but for some reason the thought of being a veterinarian didn't come across your mind at all. You wanted to be a vet for a reason, but why did it seem like it won't cope with your wishes. "Yeah, I did."
"Did?"
"It's complicated." You sighed. For so long you wondered a lot about Pokemon. They were your entire life, and been with from your childhood. There wasn't a day you forgot the memories you had with the creatures.
"I just want them to be live easily."
Silence surrounded you too once more, and you finally looked up when you felt the light pat you felt on your head. Shinso looked away from you, as he glance towards you, before blushing lightly with eyes averted.
He cleared his throat, looking back at you as apathetically as before, "well, I guess I should be heading home now. I'm glad we could talk about this."
You blinked, as he got up to grab his backpack. You watched as he was about to make his way out. Not giving you a single glance.
"Wait.."
He halted, as you gave him a small smirk.
"At least explain alittle more about your quirk as well."
You watched in interest as the male stared in surprise, before a ruggedly chuckled emitted through his throat, as he glance at you.
"What made this come through?" He asked coyly, a side that you weren't to familiar with. You shrugged slightly, smiling.
"Thought I should know more things about you too."
~•~•~
You eyed the pro-hero who had once again made his way into the dorm room looking completely dead. Except this time, the pro-hero was looking at the other student occupying the seat in front of you, as you both ate dinner.
The plates were clean off, as you chatted through the day. It was nice to have someone to talk to about your quirk without worry. You didn't realized it was getting pretty late when the pro came by.
Now, Aizawa wasn't much of a overbearing guardian. The whole time you stayed with him, it was like he was that one neighbor that was just there. He kept an eye on you, ate dinner or breakfast with you, and that was it.
But he was a 'guardian', and a teacher as well. He was pretty sure he should be scolding you for letting a boy in the dorm, when he should be going home. He entered to you seemingly in small talk, chatting happily.
His eye twitched.
He didn't exactly take you to be so bold.
Maybe he was wrong about the 'good girl' act you brought out.
The messy teacher held the cat Pokemon, the one you had let out during the school hours, as he eyed the two of you who greeted him, the boy more stiffer.
"Ah, sensei. Thanks for keeping an eye on her." You stood up to pick up the cat in his arm, as you placed it down so it could play around with the others. Surprisingly Skitty seemed quite more calmer, kinda strange for the prim cat.
The teacher narrowed his eyes at you, looking carefully at you. "Why is there a boy in here?"
The gruff teacher asked narrowingly, a frowned befitting his expression as you looked over at Shinso rather obliviously.
"We wanted to hang out?" You explained, as Shinso was fixing himself up to get going. Maybe he stayed long overdue, especially since now a pro-hero, a teacher to be exact, had asked about his reasoning to being here.
"I actually think I should get going (last), I have some homework to complete." Shinso explained, towering over you slightly, though he still hadn't reach the height of Aizawa, who gave him a small glare.
"Oh..I guess it's pretty late." You eyes the clock briefly, rubbing the back of your neck nervously. "Okay, I'll walk you out."
With that, you both headed your way out of the dorm. You left him inside, as the teacher sighed, placing a hand on his forehead.
You were more work than he thought.
"Thanks for keeping this a secret for now Shinso." You told him, as he was about to leave the building. He glance back at you, silently walking out as you both reached the door.
"...just call me Hitoshi."
You blinked in surprise, looking up at the male not looking at you.
"A-alright..you can also call me by my first name.." You muttered, feeling shy all of a sudden, nervously also look away. "I'll see you tomorrow..Hitoshi."
The boy gave a reluctant nod, feeling lighthearted by the soft sound of his name slipping out. He grinned at you, lightly flicking your forehead as he waved you goodbye.
"Alright, (name)."
Shinso glanced up slightly, as he caught sight of the fierce grass Pokemon, making him flinch a little, especially when he remembered the feeling of the black-clad teacher's eyes boring in the back of his head on his way out.
He should really get going.
Entering back into the building, feeling flustered all of sudden. You rubbed your sides, the cold outside cloaking you, hoping your hands could warm you up. Getting closer to the dinner table, you were brought with the sight of Aizawa looking over the dent wall, the one Eevee had attacked on.
The black-clad teacher glanced over at you, a heavy sigh left him. "Do I need to ask?"
Meanwhile
"Get out of the way."
The male huffed, bringing his calloused hand up as flames errupted. He clicked his tongue, stoically watching as they burned in front of him.
The dark musky walls were tall, and left no space for light to follow through, as the only light spared was the ones he had created. Screams of anguish filled his ears, like symphony, as he sighed through his nose.
The fire danced eagerly, the vibrant blue coloring the alley, as it slowly died down. It's body consuming every last inch of its snack, as wails of pain filled the air.
His turquoise eyes stayed firm at the damage he had caused, reaching a hand to his neck, covered with stitches of black and blue. The frown plastered on his face turned to a slight smirk, as the deed was done.
The only sound there was, was the slight crisp from the dying fire.
The male placed a hand on his shoulders, twisting them comfortably, as he stared away from it, eyes lifting to meet the bright moon on the sky, that did little to light up the darkness. He glanced back down, aloofly moving his eyes towards the ashes, huffing.
Rustle
He paused his step, about to move away from the scene. It's annoying enough when people notice, not to mention when the police got involved. He side-eyed the dumpster not to far away, dirty and foul-smelling.
Turquoise eyes landed on it, trailing at every corner he could see. He clicked his tongue, turning away once more.
Rustle
Rustle
The male narrowed eyes, and did what he would always do.
Blue flames abruptly surrounded the dumpster, engulfing it. The male's eyes glaring, as he listened to a sound of a cry, or a wail.
He watched as something came out. A bag of green rolling on the floor as it squealed. His eyes widen a smidge, as he stared at the the object whine and cry.
Taking a step towards it, the villain could only bend down to eye it. The burnt creature eyes meeting his own eyes, a hint of interest peeking. The corner of his lips twitched up, as he eyed the shivering creature.
"Heh.."

I'm gonna be honest, writing about Shinso is actually harder compared to the rest. Mostly cause I'm not the best in writing aloof but witty characters. And we don't get to many scenes with the guy. But overall, I guess this is how I would think he'd react.
When I was doing my revisions on the chapter, quite short than norm for reasons, the part when reader said 'there's something I need to show you.', I had no idea why, but my mind went to fifty shades of grey lmao. Now I've never watched it, but I did see the trailer XD. Dammit what have I done.
But overall, this chapter was meant to show more of the bond of shinso's character and reader. And how reader actually has complicated thoughts in herself and her surrounding. In a way, she just feels lost. It's complicated.
Although it does seem I focus a lot of Shinso, there's gonna be a matter of time when he barely shows up. And for now, I'm just going for it. Next chapter has more line up of character interactions! To get you appointed with the story, my main focus goes like this. 1) romance 2) Pokemon 3) Pokemon&hero society 4) reader's family.
No new Pokemon today! But we did get a little bit of trubbish in the end. Huhuhu, it's pretty obvious who the guy was at the end.
With that, the chapter has ended for today. I actually might be updating this Friday, but it's not for sure. Hopefully you all have a great and amazing day today. Lots of love, Carnameo.
