❦ Five
3 days after the Entrance Exam: Test for Recommended Students
"The written exam is finished! Next is the practical. And last comes the interview portion!"
Present Mic shouted at the very few students, who had put down their writing utensils down. You were watching, spying behind one of the door in aggravation.
"Oh god..why do I have to be here.." You whined, holding onto Eevee in your tight grip. The Pokemon yelped a bit at the tight hold, but you released it with a small sorry.
"Because you agreed." A gruff voice told you, causing you to hastily throw in Eevee into your carrier, which let out a small cry at your panic state. Whipping your head behind you, you were face with Eraserhead, who was watching you make a fool of yourself outside the small auditorium.
Eevee poked its head out, it's head tilted in confusion at your stare down. Either way, you pet its head apologetically before you peeked at the few students making their way to another area.
"Yeah, and I'm kinda regretting it." You sighed, while Aizawa handed you a few papers, which you took out of his hands.
"Too bad." The teacher shrugged, making you grumble annoyed, skimming through the files silently.
"So I just have to keep track of their quirks right?" You massaged your head, about to follow them with Aizawa-Sensei, seeing as he'll be the homeroom teacher, towards another area in the campus.
"Yup." he leisurely replied, as present Mic led the group away. "For now, just help out that guy on the notes, so he doesn't lose focus." Pointing at the loud man gesturing loudly to the teens, looking at him with a tired sigh.
'Guess they are close friends.' You thought in amusement.
You nodded affirmatively, taking out the notebook with a pen from your carrier, with the brown-furred creature peering in seeming interest. "So I guess not everyone passes huh?"
"..We just check if their worthy to be recommended." He grunted, as present mic began to explain the practical test in front of a large 'amusement park', this school needs to chill, explaining about a race.
'Worthy huh?', You pressed your lips tightly, a part of you feeling a little guilty. After all, Eraserhead was the one that recommended you in the school, why? You weren't sure. After all your time with the pro-hero, you could come to agreement that he was a rational man who acted the way he wants too. Uncaring of anybody and anyone for that matter. The fact he wanted to recommend you was already mind-bottling enough, with the little facts he never saw you do anything than eat?
Or maybe he did see something?
You frowned, the sinking feeling reaching the bottom of your gut. Telling, pleading, you to simply say something.
"I'm sorry I declined your recommendation."
The pro hero gave you a side eye, seeing you look uncomfortably away, unsure. You waited for his reply, looking over to the playful creature jumping a bit to stare at the test.
"Doesn't matter."
He stayed rooted, before he pushed you towards the other students, making you blink. "Just focus on the notes." you walked clumsily towards the small group that was about to start the test. Closing up the carrier to shield the Pokemon, you walked over to stand next to Preset Mic, who greeted you widely.
"Hey! Glad of you to join us female listener!" He tousled your white hair you had neatly brushed,a light grumble climbing out of your throat, as Present Mic turned to the few boys lining up. A few of the boys looked over at you curious, the large bald boy making it more obvious of his curiosity.
Present Mic continued his explanation, as you followed his example to look at the boys lined up. Looking at the paper, the first batch on the top was for a boy named Todoroki Shoto, no.23, a stoic boy with two hair colors. His hair separated in the middle, dividing his pure white hair on his right side, and on his left bringing a bright red. His quirk is called half-cold and half-hot.
'He kinda looked like the pokeball turned sideways.'
You shook your head at the silly thought, rereading the quirk. 'So two quirks?' You bit your lip, skimming through his file.
Not that it was really rare, but it wasn't the most common either. But hey, if a Pokemon can be two different types, then why can't humans be as well you supposed.
The boy was lined up, perfectly stoic as his face, as he listened attentively to Present Mic's speech. You couldn't help but ogle him a little longer; he was quite the looker, or the eye-candy, bearing a pretty face. But the one feature you noticed the most was the scar dressed in the right side of his face. It made you frown a bit at the sight, perhaps a terrible encounter during his adolescence.
His heterochromia eyes suddenly shifted to meet yours in steady small glare, unintentional or not, probably feeling your eyes racking him. You looked away in a rush, opting to look down on the next file embarassingly at being caught.
'Whoops.'
As quick as his eyes had moved to you, it went just as quick to once again focus on the boisterous teacher. You sighed when his eyes left, looking at the next file.
Yoarashi Inasa, No.41. From the photo clipped to the file, you'd assumed it was the much taller male, looking much more bigger than the rest of the recommended students. The same guy who was staring at you weirdly earlier. The large blooming smile of his shined, as he looked around the large room, as he stiffly stood in attention. His quirk is called Whirlwind.
You hummed. 'So he controls wind?'
Another file was for a boy named Honenuki Juzo. His quirk was-
"Alright! Let's get started!" Present Mic hyped, making finger guns as the small group move to stand in front of a small gateway with three lights, similar to traffic lights that's yet to turn on.
The eccentric teacher handed you a device, currently showing a bunch of zero. You held up the device, waiting for the the count down the begin. The males lined up, almost impatiently watching as the countdown began.
'Here we go.' You thought grudgingly as the large beep followed, and before anyone could blink, the heterochromia boy zoomed passed with icicles trailing after in a rush. Following in second place, Inasa pushed winds behind him to allow him to be pushed faster, as the others trailed after them.
Todoroki Shoto
Quirk: Half-cold, Half-hot
He freezes with his right and his left fire up! Range and limits are unknown. What a beast!
You gave a long side eye look at the loud teacher, who was comically holding a microphone to act like an M.C, cheering after the racers. The teacher had sneakily took the files out of your hands, looking over them, As Inasa, no.41, was slowly beginning to speed up.
You gave a knowing stare at the creature who had poked its head out a bit, which looked back with the same stare. "Guess he's the pokedex of quirks huh.." You mumbled, before focusing back on the race.
"So an ice quirk, and supposedly a fire quirk?" You looked on mildly interested, jotting down some notes into your notebook. The boy continued his spectacle, moving quick and swift, as you held the machine closer to you, watching when the boy was beaten by a second by the larger male. Eevee who had obediently stayed hidden in the carrier seemed to jump excitedly, peeking her small eyes through the small hole.
"And it's a photo finished! No.41 made it first by a hair!" The exaggerative man exclaimed in somewhat amazement, with you peeking over to the device, holding an amazing number with present mic looking shocked.
"They beat the yearly average by three minutes!" He whispered-yelled to you, causing you too look at the two, impressed.
The stoic male was trying to catch his breath, while the winner was hollering excitedly in a frenzy. "Awesome, I won!" But he took notice of the other boy, continuing encouragingly. "But who knows who'll win the next one! Cuz your amazing!"
"You're Endeavor's son or some such right?! That's something else!" Inasa boosted rather friendly. Todoroki didn't look his way, as you hummed in thought, frankly eavesdropping.
'Endeavor...he's the top 2 hero in Japan wasn't he..?' You wondered in thought. As much as you were inexperience with heroes, you knew at least the top 10 of today. It's hard not to when every once in awhile someone would bring up a heroes name excitedly telling the tale of their latest catch. Endeavor was a strong hero, but some would say he was quite cold. Quite the contrast from his quirk, but it would make sense with Todoroki having a fire quirk.
"Shut up"
You and Inasa looked dumbfounded at the uttered words, his eyes downcasted in what you assumed was a glare. "This is an exam. All I want is to pass, nothing more." His voice seemed to dropped distastefully, "I'm not competing you, and I have no intention to."
He coldly glared straight ahead, not so much as giving a glance. "Get out of my way."
With that, the male walked away from the larger male, who was rooted in his spot. Your frowned deepened, watching the males back.
Todoroki's eyes looked harsh, as if he was looking at a sturdy wall he can't go through, or perhaps was it something he loathed.
You let out a breath of relief, you didn't even know you were holding. Todoroki sure was intimidating, not only those his eyes gives you the shivers, but apparently he wasn't the most kindest out there.
However Your breath hitched again when Inasa's head whipped to stare at you, his eyes holding something akin to anger. You went to pull out your hand out, moving it robotically as if you were patting someone's back with wide scared eyes.
"Don't mind."
His face took a drastic change, waking up from his rather angered state, to astonished for a second. Before he could say anything, Present Mic called for the next test, as everyone quick-paced to line up in front of the teacher. Another breath of relief signed out of you, hopefully this test will end soon.
~•~•~
The test ended, and you went to check your notes once more. Skimming through the results, it looked like the best out of all the boys currently would be Inasa. Interestingly, Inasa knew how to use his quirk well.
You sighed once more. You weren't sure how many times you did it, but you would sigh a million of times if it helped you ease the uneasiness you felt. Throughout the test, Inasa had been peering at you more noticeably, when Present Mic was clarifying the next test, he would not so subtly eye you, which you ignored to examine the files. As cheerful as he looked earlier, that drastic upset made you wary. Perhaps what Todoroki had commented was much harsher for him that you originally thought.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear, he appeared in front of you like a horror game's jumpscare. He looked at you, the girl dying of heart attack at the moment, rather curiously, the malice that he held in his face at todoroki's words earlier disappeared. But then the oddest thing happened, and he plunged his head to the ground like an ostrich making you screech.
"sorry about earlier!" he shouted slowly but loudly, as many people seemed to glance curiously, watching an odd scene with you frantically trying to pull his head out of the floor. "I didn't mean to scare you!" you were tempted to tell him he was scaring you now. When he finally pulled his head up, his head was a bloody mess, and the first reaction you gave was to panic.
Pulling out some tissues from the carrier that you took with Eevee watching in wonder, still hiding obediently. you dabbed it lightly on the head, turning to grab some alcohol to clean the wound. He didn't seemed all that detered by the wound, opting to stand tall and still.
"doesn't that hurt?" you asked agitatedly to him, who simply nodded with a large smile.
"It hurts a lot!" he enthusiastic said.
"Then don't do that!" you scolded, choosing to push the boy to a seat. After lightly cleaning it up, you let out a breath of relief, as Inasa curiosity peeked.
"are you joining the test?" Inasa asked curiously, obviously the most confused when he saw you helping out the pro-hero.
"I'm just keeping notes.." you told the boy, as the rest of the students turned to walk out, already dismissed as the teacher went to start the next written test for the recommended girls.
"OH!" the boy replied with much enthusiasm,"are you a teacher's assistant?!"
"somewhat." you nodded reluctantly at the energetic boy, who seemed excited. As he began getting worked up, the talk changing to a topic of heroes and passion out of nowhere. With you nodding along in agreement, not really sure who he was talking about at this point.
His eyes briskly trailed after the heterochromia male, a harsh glare replacing his enthusiastic smile, before he turned to you again. "sorry what were we talking about?'
You sweatdropped. "absolutely nothing."
You sighed, turning to clean up the mess, throwing it to the nearby bin. With Inasa still trailing after you, like a duckling.
"do you need something?" you questioned the male slowly. Feeling rather restless with the large male eagerly following you.
The boy didn't look bothered by your hesitance, the smile he held was wide and almost obnoxious.
"I'm Yoarashi Inasa!"
You waited for him to continue, when he didn't you awkwardly looked around. "okay..? I'm (last) (name)."
"it nice to meet you (last)-san!" he exclaimed.
"Um..yes, you too Yoarashi-san." you replied to the male, finding yourself more lost as the talk continued. For some reason, you weren't completely sure why, but the male seemed to want to have this long conversation with you after you saw the dispute between him and todoroki.
Not that you were completely bothered by the male, he was just pretty loud, causing you to flinch every now and then when his voice rose louder. Perhaps he was just an overly friendly boy who could talk with anyone.
"How did you think I did?!" Yoga asked eagerly, and for once in your talk, you find yourself getting slightly excited.
Throughout the test, you couldn't help but be amaze by both Inasa and Todoroki's result on the test. You felt giddy at the incredible raw power they have both accomplish.
"You did good, actually great! The thing you did with the wind was smart, especially during the race-" you gushed excitedly, with the large male watching you talking animatedly in silence.
Noticing the strangely quiet male, you peered up at him in question. He looked taken a back for a second, before he once again began gushing once more, much louder than before In a new found enthusiasm. You find yourself listening with a small smile, when your eyes caught the clock.
"uh Yoarashi-san.. " you tried to stop the worked up boy, who was talking about another hero once more.
"Inasa is fine!" he exclaimed, making you nod timidly.
"I actually have to go back to check on the girl's exam." you pointed out awkwardly, as the boy seemed to nod in understanding, alittle to quickly might I add, unbothered but he did quiet down. Feeling bad, you quickly said. "but we can exchange numbers if you want to talk more?"
You weren't gonna make the same mistake with kirishima, the guy you had completely forgotten to ask for his contact, as Inasa seemed to get worked up again.
"that'll be great!" he yelled, and just like that his head was down on the concrete, making you screech once more. "thank you!"
"will you stop that!" getting tired, your shoulders heaving tiredly. Was this a good idea?
After another quick check up, courtsey by you, you exchanged numbers, as he went off out of the school waving goodbye. Him loudly jogging off with a wave of farewell, with you giving him your own wave.
For someone so loud and obnoxious, he seemed to be sensitive about things you weren't to sure about. You digressed, sighing as you went off to the female's exam. Eevee, who had been obediently silent, finally poked her head out, whining up to you.
"Loud guy huh?" You commented, with the creature nodding perpexly.
When you thought there were a few boys before, there were fewer girls recommended this year. Three girls were prepping up for the the written exam, the small auditorium bare from teachers. Currently two girls were gossiping together, chuckling and giggling to themselves, as there was another girl sitting a bit farther from the two, ordering her stuff accordingly.
She was a pretty girl, looking very proper as she held her hands together, clasping them with a serious look dressed in her face. Her long black hair was tied in a high irregular ponytail, dressed in her middle school's uniform.
Perhaps it was on accident, but the beautiful girl's eyes met yours briefly, and you awkwardly fidget by the door, as the girl gestured for you to enter, probably thinking you were one of the recommended.
You entered the room, the two others girls promptly ignoring you, so you went to sit next to the kind girl who nodded at you respectfully. But you both didn't say anything to each other, only awkwardly awaiting for the exam to start.
"its nice to meet you, I'm (last) (name)." you decided to introduce yourself, fidgeting with the sleeves of the jacket you wore. The girl looking surprised for a second, before she took your hand in hers, shaking it eagerly.
"oh, yes! I'm yaoyorozo momo." she spoke a bit louder, her eyes gleaming in excitement. She enthusiasticly smiled, as you couldn't help but do the same.
You both dropped your hands, and you couldn't but notice the rather tense atmosphere disappear for a second.
"are you nervous for the slight test?" you asked, as you went to take out your notebook, remembering your task.
"To some extent." she admitted shyly, poshly placing a hand on her cheek, worriedly. "are you?" She asked you back curiously.
"oh, I'm just.."you explained, pulling up your hands to emphasized, "taking note?"
"Oh, So your not taking the test for today (last)-San?" She asked, her heart gleamed when she was able to chat with someone else. Perhaps make a friend early before she might be faced with her new classmates. She felt a little sad you weren't joining the hero course, but she went on, still hoping to make a new friend. After all, if you were taking notes for the pros, you'd most likely be in the school somewhere.
"Well no." You replied, with a small shrug, you opened your mouth to say something more when Presenf Mic trotted in, signaling the start of the test.
~•~•~
Serperior gave you a glare that caused you to shiver uneasily. The gigantic snake was draped on the couch in the mess hall, the regal Pokemon holding a look of indifference.
"I'm just gonna be away for awhile." you told the serpant, looking at it with a meaningful look. It scoffed, unbelievingly as you fixed your shirt. The majestic Pokemon had wanted to be able to at least go outside of the dorm, rather relax under the sun with you, but you decided you needed to go somewhere.
Serperior wasn't having that.
"I'm just gonna visit Shinso." you told the creature, when it seemed to glare harder.
"and no, I'm not gonna stay just because your glaring." you told it, making it sigh, dropping its head down on the couch pouting. You gave it a few pats on the head, which it took begrudgingly, giving it a loving pet.
Today was suppose to be the day when all the student joining the entrance exam get their letters, acceptance or not.
You finished up the recommended test a few days ago, earning another number belonging to Yaoyorozu, who was jittering excitedly when you gave yours to her. For a serious looking girl, she was incredibly cute in act. But rather scary when it came to the test. A quirk that can create any non-living things. Yet it wasn't as simple as that, as she had to be able to understand the item she was creating.
Shinso had been rather quiet in text, answering with only small words, and you were getting worried. So you decided to visit his house, a house you passed on your way back to the prestigious high school after school.
You left the dormitory, giving one more look at the serpant, who was once again trying to stop your from leaving, before you hopped onto your bike, leaving the premises. It was a rather sunny day in the making, maybe you could coax him to hang outside with you.
Upon arriving in front of the purple-haired classmate's home, you went to knock on the wooden door. It didn't open for awhile, but you waited patiently none-the-less, as you heard a familiar hiss.
"Ser-per-ior."
You pales drastically to see the same grass type Pokemon by your bicycle looking at you smugly.
"How..and why?" You asked to yourself more, with the snake-like Pokemon paying no mind as you panically tried to drag it behind a bush conveniently close. Serperior didn't budge, simply letting you do as you please, but he stayed rooted in his spot. Well he is Serperior..
"Please hide." You told the Pokemon, who gave you a unamused frown.
"For me?" You held your intertwined hands up towards the Pokemon.
It sighed, slithering into the bushes with you giving it a loving smile, rushing to the door to knock once more.
It wasn't long till someone padded to the front, luckily it was Shinso, who looked slightly out of it. He didn't even looked surprise by your visit, only giving you a small nod in greeting.
"Hey Shinso..wanna walk around?" You pressed your lips in worry, as the quiet male sighed, nodding slightly, before he went off to tell his parents. You fiddled with your fingers patiently for him to come out, opting to take a stroll with you following in his pace.
Of course before you left, you gave a stern look to the bush you passed, you were sure serperior rolled his eyes at you.
Shinso giving you a weirded out look. "Why are you glaring at that bush?"
You blinked. "Um..just cause." You fidgeted uneasily. Shinso with one odd stare, shrugged it off, walking steadily but eerily quiet.
There was silence between you two, reminding you of the time when you found out Shinso's quirk. The boy heaved another long sigh, brushing his irregular hair down, only for it to stay up to his frustration.
"So, I'm sure you can guess what happened." He started, his deep voice holding the slight sarcasm. He kicked a pebble lightly, as you gave a low nod.
"Yup." You dragged, feeling upset for the male. He didn't seemed all that bothered, looking rather blandly at his surroundings, but you knew better. He was pretty devastated. Knowing you were just in extra in the class, you still couldn't help but feel terrible.
"The entrance exam had robots. So obviously I couldn't show much in those kind of exams." The boy let out dryly.
"That's not really fair." You commented. Perhaps the school was only looking for people likely enough to attack quickly, but even then it wasn't the most fairest.
"Lots of things aren't fair." He replied back, seemingly sighing. You gave the sad male a glance. Your frowned deepened at the sight of the physically and emotionally upset boy, who was paying close attention to the clouds floating in the sky.
"But you're not gonna give up are you?"
Shinso halted, with you looking at his stilled form expectingly, giving him the best encouraging smile you could offer at the moment. His thoughtful eyes looked dry, watching you give him a nervous look after awhile worriedly. He gave a troubled sigh, giving a small smile.
"Nope."
You smiled at his words, strolling silently. "Good." You nodded, giving him a nudge which made him stumble a bit. He looked at you incredulously as you chuckled. "It's weird when your quiet."
He rolled his eyes aggravatingly. You dimmed when you remembered your transfer to the school, remembering the task that was handed to you. You gave the male a distress glance.
"You know, I'm going to go to U.A." You played it off as if it was nothing, as Shinso seemed to be surprised by the statement. He was alittle busy with his own problems in the acceptance of U.A, that he didn't have the time to think about your own.
"Really? Your gonna take the general department after all?" He asked, watching your nervous movements. He found himself frowning just as you did before, never seeing you quite this odd.
You shook your head, with Shinso pressing in confusion.
"Actually to the hero course."
Shinso blinked, a part of him feeling envious when he was sure you didn't join the entrance exam, or maybe you did. You knew what he was thinking, causing you to wave your hands in panic. "Not for being a hero...its just a special case at the moment."
Shinso didn't reply, looking away from you for a moment as you scratched your head nervously, feeling constricted. A silence came once more, the feeling of guilt building up slowly. You sighed, starting carefully. "Look, Shinso.."
"Okay." He finally uttered. He nodded understandingly, looking over to you while he gave you another one of his wryly smile. "I guess I'll just have to see you there."
The words he said could have meant meeting in the school, but the way he proudly said it made you think other wise. It was him keeping his word, that he'll be in the class full of promising heroes, that he'll see you there in that class when the chance came.
You felt yourself feeling relieved, as you glomped the male happily.
He sighed. "You gotta stop." He looked away from you, turning to stare away with his ear glowing red in embarrassment with you chortling at his action. You suddenly pulled him forward, causing him to stumble after you.
"C'mon, we're gonna grab something to eat! My treat today!" You said, pulling the nonchalant male as you went to the closest restaurant with the male by your heel. Shinso couldn't lie that he was envious, but he knew that you would never do anything to hurt him purposely. Besides, a smile fitted you better he thought.

While you were completely immerse in the time you had with Shinso, you completely forgot the Pokemon hiding in the bushes in front of said brainwashing male's house.
Alright, chapter five already. Today I wanted to capture the chapter of what the recommendation tests would be like. I kinda wanted Inasa to appear earlier, so tada! Here he is. Honestly this is just a chapter to prepare for the next chapter, which would be the first day of UA.
Actually, I kinda wanted to talk about the readers personality. I didn't really gave any memo to how to reader is protrayed, since I like the idea where you can learn more about the characters. But to clear things up, if any of y'all are confuse so far, I'd like to talk about it here. The reader here is portrayed as someone actually rather awkward. I'm pretty sure with all those stuttering its quite obvious. I didn't want to make you completely incapable in socializing, but instead rather awkward when the characters meet you, but becomes a little more open when she gets to know the character. It isn't all that terrible of awkwardness, so to some extent, she can be quite the talkative during the first meet, but to certain to people, she might have a hard time adjusting. Another characteristic I have been putting in, is the readers mother tendency. Being an owner for so many pokemons have made you a bit more, meddling, motherly, and overly worried. You rather panic way too much, and that shy nature diminishes in seconds when your worried about someone.
Another thing I'd like to discuss is actually the romance blooming in this book. So far, the only one I that is interested in you in the story currently is Shinso. He knew you before you'll study in UA, and the fact you both were friends who try to encourage each other, Shinso grew to have feelings that he isn't even aware of yet. Kirishima did have an early romance, but I consider it more of admiration from Kiris part. But not to worry, romances will come, now we just gotta meet everybody...
Although I do admit, I actually haven't establish the love interest completely, I'm considering almost everyone you have met in this story so far, and everyone you'll interact with..almost everyone reminder for y'all. Inasa is still unsure, and the teachers aren't gonna be in. Throughout it all, I have already made a list of potential lovers that I'm planning to put, but I'm just testing the waters in this whole romance thing, so make sure to stay tune!
Also, a recommended pokemon appeared, Serperior! Quite the serperior pokemon! Thank you for the request by the way moonfang444. and also Snowball.penguin581 for their Zorua request. It's alway fun to see people asking for very unique pokemons here!
lots of thanks from me to you readers! I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I'm still surprised I can keep up publishing every Tuesday, lol. It's a surprise even for me. Well then, till next Tuesday, where the first day of UA takes place!
