Chapter 4

Over the next few days Terra Rikuto really found her place among her classmates. While she spent most of her time with Deku and Kacchan, the rest of class 1A had started warming up to her as well.

Rikuto had been in awe of Yaoyorozu's creation quirk. The two girls had started talking construction of simple objects, as both girls could use their quirks to make things. While Terra would never be able to create things nearly as complex as Momo, there were a few simple structures that she could copy with stone. Yaoyoruzu eagerly showed off a few simple items such as weapon shapes that would still be effective if Rikuto found herself with limited ground to work with.

Ashido had been one of the first girls to approach Rikuto, even if it was just to comment on her fashion. Terra's usual look if she wasn't in uniform was a comfortable hoodie and a pair of jeans or jean shorts depending on the temperature. This lead Mina, as well as Hagakure to go on a mission to get Rikuto to try on new looks. Occasionally the two of them would ask her to try one an outfit and they'd comment on whether or not the color or type of shirt was right for her. Their eagerness and overall cheery attitudes was contagious and as long as it didn't interfere with training, Terra was exited to try things for them. This eventually lead to a promise that when they found enough free time, they would hit the mall where Mina and Toru could pick out two outfits for Terra to wear for a whole day each as long as they were appropriate.

Rikuto had once incident with Mineta that did not end well. She had been wearing the schools skirt and he had "accidentally" tripped really close to her feet in hopes to look up and see her underwear. She had realized his plan, and pounded him through the floor with her fist. He hadn't dared to try any tricks since then.

Jiro and Rikuto hadn't become especially close as they hand't really talked much on their own, but after Jiro had worn a tshirt with a band's logo, they discovered that they shared a mutual love of a certain heavy metal band. Sometimes music was played in the showers that only the two girls knew the words to and it was a blast.

Ojiro, Shoji, and Sato had each taken the time to practice different versions of hand to hand combat with her. She managed to fight through Sato's strength, but she struggled to get around Ojiro's skill and tail or Shiji's strength and multiple arms without her quirk. Training with them was a always fun, and she looked forward to getting better with them.

Even Koda and Rikuto got along thought they barely said anything to each other. One time his bunny friend had escaped and found its way into her room. She returned it safely and they talked animals for a bit. They'd even took some time for Koda to call whatever bird friends were near and Rikuto fed them bird seed.

Tsu and Terra managed to have a solid relationship. Though mostly it was through Tsu pointing out training tips, they still talked about random things. She was the one that Terra turned to when she realized that a few of her classmates didn't seem to want to come near her. There were a few students that she didn't really have time to interact with much yet, and they didn't seem to mind her, but two students seemed to dislike her and she couldn't figure out why.

Uraraka seemed to look at her from a distance, but would shrink away or become very quiet when Rikuto approached. The other one was Kirishima. To the rest of the class he had a good nature, cracking holes and getting along with everyone, even Bakugo at times, but around Rikuto he seemed cold.

Tsu suggested taking the time to try talking with them directly. If they still acted cold then she should ask them why. It was better than relying on gossip and hopefully they'd be able to work through things quicker that way.

Rikuto knew that she was right and had plans to talk to both of them, but first she needed to fix things with Kaminari. She and the boy with the lightning quirk had gotten along pretty well off the bat. The first thing he had done was casually ask her out on a date, which she declined and he respected. From there they appreciated each others jokes and Jiro's added quips. She was worried that she had blown it today.

They had been doing quirk training and he had surprised her. He'd stood too close and used his lightning that flashed through her blind spot. It had alerted something deep inside her, a panic that she'd struggled with since she was young. In that brief instant, she forgot where she was. In that flash, she didn't recognize her friend from an old foe. As a reflex before she could even process her own movements, she had turned and punched him hard with her stone gauntlets.

While the students got Kaminari to Recovery Girl, Mr. Aizawa had gone off on a lecture about how if she ever wanted to become a hero, she couldn't allow herself to do anything like that ever again. He threatened if she ever lost control and attacked a friend like that one more time then he couldn't allow her to become a hero and she would be expelled from the hero course. She understood how serious the threats were, but part of her was to worried about Kaminari to listen to everything the professor said.

She had run all the way to the others and apologized profusely. He had already recovered and was just very tired. He forgave her without question and apologized for directing his lightning that close to her in the first place. Most of the class assumed that it was a result of lingering reflexes from the attack on her old school. He jokingly offered that she could make it up to him by going on a date, but he took back the offer after Jiro scowled at him. Rikuto wouldn't go on a date with him, but wanted to come up with another way to make it up to him.

==============

Sometime later Rikuto found herself struggling in the kitchen area. As Bakugo walked past, he glanced in to see Terra reaching for a cabinet that was well out of the range of her arms. As she struggled, she caught a glimpse of him watching her.

"Hey Kacchan! Give me a hand!" she insisted, still stretching up her arms. With a grumble he stepped forward and hoisted her up by her waist.

"Tch. You still need help with stuff like this? What kind of pro hero can't reach the top shelf? Can't you use your quick to make a step?"

"Aw don't be that way," she laughed, "Besides, after the whole Mineta incident Izawa said if I made another hole in the floor, he'd expel me... Ah! There they are!" She pulled out two bags of hamburger buns.

"What the heck do you need those for?" Kacchan asked, setting her down on the ground but absentmindedly leaving his hands on her waist.

She set the buns on the counter in front of her and explained, "I talked with Jiro and Yaoyorozu and they said that Kaminari's favorite food was hamburgers. So to make it up to him I thought I'd-"

"Oh? What's this?" Aoyama asked, cutting in to see Bakugo's hands still on Rikuto's waist.

"We're making burgers you damn extra," Bakugo snapped, his cheeks flushing red as he retracted his hands.

Rikuto didn't understand Bakugo's sudden embarrassment. Casual touching with her friends was something that she just did so she hadn't noticed. Still she smiled and said, "Actually we could use your help! There are a few students in class I didn't get a count for. Could you check with everyone to see if they want plain hamburger, with cheese, with pepper jack cheese, or veggie?"

"Oui I can handle that. I'll just leave you two alone," Aoyama replied, giving them a quick wink. The gesture went straight over Terra's head, she just thought Aoyama was a little strange. Bakugo on the other hand turned his attention to the counter to hide the fact that his face was now an even deeper red. In the end he had taken over cooking the burgers himself as Terra prepared everything else.

Together they managed to cook burgers to everyone's requests. They all gathered in the common area to eat and chat. Bakugo dished himself up last and went to take a seat next to Terra. She was on the couch beside Todoroki with an open spot on her other side. As he approached Midoriya sat in the open space.

"Deku you damn nerd! I was gonna sit there!" He snarled.

"O-oh! Sorry Kacchan!" The green haired boy apologized. "I didn't realize."

"Let's not fight now guys," Terra told them.

"Hey Bakugo! There's a seat next to me!" Kirishima offered, indicating to a chair next to him. Bakugo shot one more glare at Midoriya before grumbling to himself and begrudgingly took a seat next to the red haired boy, who looked slightly hurt that Bakugo was so against sitting next to him.

"Hey Rikuto! These burgers are so good I probably wouldn't mind if you broke my face again," Kaminari joked. She knew that he meant it as a compliment, but she still felt bad.

"Well I can't take all the credit," she chuckled. "I just got the stuff and made the sides. Kacchan is the one who cooked them."

"WHAT???" The class said in unified aw.

"What the hell is so surprising?! Cooking's not that damn hard!" he snapped, uncomfortable with that kind of attention.

When everyone had finished eating. Some people left to train, and some turned on the tv. Terra leaned deeper into the couch to get comfortable, interested in the show that had been put on. Both Midoriya and Todoroki had decided to stay as well. The couch itself wasn't that large, so their arms were touching, but none of them seemed to mind.

As the night grew later, more and more people left the common area to do their own thing and the interesting show had turned into a sort of documentary on the history of heroes, one that Terra had already seen for one of her old classes. Deku's eyes went wide and she was enjoying watching him watch the documentary, but she could feel herself starting to drift off.

Still she wanted to stay awake just a little while longer. When was the last time she Deku and Kacchan had stayed up late watching a movie together? She shifted her position slightly so she could see Deku better. A clip about All Might had come on and his eyes had widened like saucers, just as they had been when they used to watch the news about the hero. The was vaguely aware that this meant she had leaned slightly more into Todoroki, but he didn't shift away or seem to mind. She was also the slightest bit aware that his left side was warmer and very comfortable to lean into. That realization was one of her last conscious thoughts that night as she fell asleep on the couch.

"Deku... can I speak with you for a bit?" Uraraka asked from a nearby hallway.

"Huh? Um, sure," Midoriya agreed, not even noticing his asleep friend. He got up and joined Uraraka, following her away from the others. This left only Todoroki, Rikuto, Bakugo, and Aoyama in the room.

Aoyama noticed that as she slept, Riktuo had leaned even more into Todoroki, her head now on his shoulder. "Oh, what a plot twist," he said to himself, before announcing that he too was leaving.

Todoroki looked down at the sleeping girl, unsure of how to handle the situation. He was surprised that she already felt so comfortable around him. There was so much about her that astounded him, even more so after today. She usually had a level head on her shoulders, especially when it came to fighting. He had been fairly close when she had rounded on Kaminari, and there was pure fear in her eyes, something that he hadn't seen when she was fighting off the army of villains on the news, so what kind of terror would spark a reflex like that?

"Hey Bakugo," he said, a bit softer than usual so he wouldn't wake the sleeping girl. "Does Terra have a fear of Lightning or something?"

Bakugo sighed and tried to think back to when he, Deku, and Terra were younger. "I don't know details, but I know she had an old relative that was a mean fucker with a lightning quirk. She didn't talk about him much, but I think she and her mom used to move around so much because they were trying to stay away. Now that I think about it, she used to have a major fear of storms and thunder...." at this point he was mostly talking to himself, trying to figure out why she had been so upset. "I thought that she'd gotten over it though. Some of my explosions were loud and flashed bright like thunder and lightning. After a while she realized it was just me and she got used to it."

"For her to still react like that after living through the attack on her school... whoever has that quirk must be one scary bastard," Todoroki commented.

"Yeah, but look, don't tell her I told you anything, and don't go tellin' anyone else, you got that Halfn'half?" Bakugo said in a threatening tone. He was surprised that he had opened his mouth to Todoroki of all people. He looked down to Terra. He didn't think she had even told Deku about it.

"Then I have one more question," Todoroki told the other boy, "What do I do now? How do I... move.... her? Do I wake her up? I don't..."

Bakugo grinned, finding a bit of joy that the incredibly strong, ever so gifted Todoroki seemed so powerless to this sleeping girl. He stood up and said, "Figure it out yourself. Just remember how she can be when she's woken."

Todoroki's eyes widened in a bit of fear as he realized that Bakugo was just going to leave him there, "Bakugo! Don't leave me!" he said in a harsh whisper. The other boy didn't pause. "Bakugo!"  The spiky haired boy left without offering any help, leaving Todoroki looking down helplessly at the girl sleeping peacefully against him.
