Chapter 1
"You've all trained hard today, and are making decent progress, but before I send you back to the dorms, I have an announcement to make," Mr. Aizawa said to the class. Class 1A had been busy training and were exhausted, but still gave attention to their teacher. It had been a few months since the incident on the news, and lately hadn't given it much thought. They taken by surprise when the door opened and Midnight walked with with someone tailing behind her.
"Right this way," Midnight said, stepping back and allowing her follower to step forward. The class gave collective gasps as they recognized the newcomer as the girl from the attack. Bakugo tensed in disbelief, the pencil he had been twirling in boredom snapped in his hands. Deku rubbed his eyes, wondering if he was seeing things.
"Class this is Terra Rikuto, she will be joining the hero program and part of this class from here on," Aizawa continued in his bored tone.
She pushed a strand of her long dark brown hair behind her ear as she gave a polite smile and greeted, "It's nice to meet you all."
"I'll leave introductions and showing her around the dorms to the class rep. Class dismissed." In the same moment he had curled up inside a yellow sleeping bag and seemed to be asleep on the ground. Midnight gave an amused chuckle before she left the room.
Iida stepped forward to take control of the situation and said proudly, "Welcome to class 1A! I am Tenya Iida, the class rep! I will begin the introductions!" He waved his arms up and down from his elbow joints in a robot-like fashion.
"Sounds good! Fire away class rep!" she grinned trying to take in all of the new faces, as the rest of their class left their seats to gather around to inspect the newcomer.
"Hey, hey, hey, you think you can just show up here and ignore me you damn brat?" Bakugo scoffed stepping in front of his classmates to confront the new girl. He had his hands shoved in his pockets, his red eyes focused as he looked down at her.
"Bakugo! Don't shout at someone who just joined our class!" Iida shouted angrily, moving his arms more aggressively, but the new girl was already moving.
"Kacchan!" Rikuto she cheered happily. She threw herself at the boy with a force that made even him take a step back for balance as she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. The action surprised the class that most of their eyes were popping out of their skulls.
"Ehhhh????" Most of them shrieked collectively. They were surprised that someone would act that way towards Bakugo, and even more surprised that he didn't swear or push her away. Instead he wrapped his arm around her and patted her back twice in acknowledgement. He ducked his head low and scoffed, trying to hide the blush creeping into his cheeks. He remembered that this is just how she was, but he didn't like the looks he was getting for it.
"Terra!" Deku called out eagerly, recovering from his shock and rushing up to her with shining eyes and looking like an excited puppy.
"And Deku too! I can't believe it!" she laughed, releasing one of her arms from around Kacchan to wrap it around Deku, forcing the blond to bend over slightly from the height difference. She gave Deku a gentle one armed squeeze saying, "I haven't heard from either of you in years! You'll have to tell me everything that's happened! Deku! When did you get your quirk? I thought you couldn't have one? And Kacchan! Who the heck said you could be taller than me?"
As she went on happily, Bakugo continued to look down at her, still trying to process that she was actually there. Even before the news had shown the attack, he had wondered if he would ever see her again. Then after he had seen the news, he had wondered if she was even alive. And now she had just appeared, and was joining his class. He wanted to poke her face to be sure that it was her, but resisted. Instead he settled on the fact that his arm was around her, and she felt real enough.
"My leadership has been ignored!" Iida said to no one in particular in a very hurt tone as he tried to hold back cartoonish tears.
"There there. I'm sure they didn't mean anything by it," Yaoyorozu told him, gently patting him on the back.
The sight yanked Rikuto out of her nostalgia and reminded her that she was in a hero course and that she had responsibilities, as well as more people to talk to then just her childhood friends. She gave the boy with glasses a quick bow of her head in respect and said, "I'm so sorry I cut you off, I got a little over excited. You have my full attention, please continue."
Iida immediately sprang back into action, seemingly unfazed by his previous hurt feelings. "Right! Back to it! You clearly already know Katsuki Bakugo, and Izuku Midoriya. Here we have Tsuyu Asui, Denki Kaminari..."
Terra remained focused as Iida went through the rest of the class. She smiled and greeted them, doing her best to remember each of them. Uraraka watched the girl with long brown hair and blue eyes intently. Something about her didn't feel right to Uraraka, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Maybe it had something to do with the way she kept her arm around Deku... No, it was something more than that, but what was it?
"I remember a lot of you from watching the sports festival," Terra told them. "I am Terra Rikuto. I can't wait to work with all of you."
"We saw you on the news during that attack!" Kaminari said excitedly, "You fought off so many villains! It was crazy! You looked like you weren't scared at all!"
"Dude!" Kirishima scolded, chopping the blond on the head with his hardened hand, "Did you fry your brain? You can't just bring up traumatic events like that!"
Kaminari's eyes widened as he remembered that a lot of people didn't live through the attack. "Aw man, that was really thoughtless of me! I'm sorry Rikuto!"
"It not a problem at all! I get asked about it a lot, it's fine really," Rikuto assured him, embarrassed. "Yes, I was pretty terrified. I got really lucky to have a pro by my side... a lot of people there weren't so lucky." Her somber tone brought everyone's mood down, and there was a depressed pause.
"Hey you guys, we haven't shown Rikuto the dorms yet!" Asui said, throwing out a distraction that would bring spirits back up.
"That's right," Tokoyami agreed, thankful for the new topic.
Ashido grabbed Rikuto's arm that had been around Bakugo and began pulling her towards the door saying, "This way Rikuto! Just wait till you see everything!"
"You'll love Sato's room! He's always got something sweet in there," Hagakure added eagerly.
"I can't wait," Rikuto laughed, dragging along Deku who was still wrapped in her other arm.
"We're not seriously going to every room again are we?" Todoroki asked in a reluctant tone, but followed the group anyway. They started by showing her around the common areas, and drilling her with questions the whole way.
"What is your quirk exactly?" Jiro asked.
"Is it strong?" Ashido cut in, her dark eyes shining.
"Is it dazzling?" Aoyama added, striking a dramatic pose.
"How do you feel you rank strength wise in the class?" Ojiro asked, his tail flicking curiously.
"Everyone! I advise you to give Rikuto some space! As well as time to formulate her answer," Iida scolded the class. They took an embarrassed step back form her, realizing that they had been swarming too close.
"Thanks Iida," Rikuto laughed, thankful to have a moment to gather her thoughts. "As for the questions um... my quirk is ground manipulation. I can form dirt and rock into different shapes. I can also cause the ground to shift and reach up into shapes, like spikes or a dome. I think it's a pretty strong quirk, though um not sure if it would qualify as dazzling? As for my rank in class, I'm not so sure. I'd like to think that I'm higher on the list, but I've seen how awesome you guys can be. So I guess we'll have to find out as we go!"
"What do you think Midoriya? You know about her quirk right? Where do you think she'd rank?" Kirishima asked and everyone looked to the green eyed boy.
He put his hand to his chin and began to mutter a bit as he thought out loud, "Well I personally haven't seen her quirk in years and I didn't get to see a whole lot from the news. Not to mention that when we were young she didn't really get a chance to show off the full extent of her quirk. I do believe that when she causes the ground itself to move it can act a lot like Todoroki's ice, and reach about as far, especially if she forms it into spikes. And we saw that one of her better attacks is to form gauntlets, which probably adds something extra to her punch..."
The class froze and reexamined the new girl. Todoroki especially held back to look at her. A quirk like his?
"Wow Deku! You sure remember a lot," Rikuto chuckled, throwing an arm around her old friend. "I used those land spikes like once around you, and that was a long time ago! Like when I first got my quirk."
"A power like Todoroki's? And hand to hand combat?! No way! A power like that has to have some drawback!" Yaoyorozu said, mostly to herself, as she brought a hand to her chin.
"Oh it does for sure, but you'll have to figure it out by yourselves," Terra laughed, teasing lightly.
"What? No fair!" Hagakure pouted, though she wasn't seriously upset. The group laughed together and continued on the mini tour. Somehow it was decided that they should start in Sato's room, and found out that he had some sweets baked.
They stopped there to eat what he agreed to share and got distracted until Iida got the groups attention, "I'm sorry everyone! But I have to recommend that we finish the room tours at a later date. It is quite late in the evening and we have class tomorrow, and we haven't even given Rikuto a chance to unpack."
"Oh! I can't believe we let time slip away from us! Sorry if we didn't give you enough time to get settled Rikuto," Yaoyorozu apologized.
Rikuto held her arms in front of her and waved them a bit as she insisted, "Please don't worry about it. I had a great time getting to know everyone!"
"Do you need help unpacking Terra?" Midoriya offered.
"Yeah Rikuto," Mineta agreed, his hands awkwardly groping the air, "Can we help unpack? Maybe some of your clothes..."
He quickly earned a solid punch and a "Damn pervert!!!" from Bakugo that no one seemed to pay any mind to.
"I appreciate the offer Deku, but that's something I'd rather take care of on my own. Thanks though," Rikuto answered as if Mineta hadn't spoken. The class went as a group to find her room, then wished each other a good night.
Bakugo bumped into her shoulder from behind, though not very hard and said, "Don't think you can just get away with not telling us what you've been up to these past for years, you got that brat?" He grinned back at her.
"Yeah," Midoriya agreed, following Bakugo and turning back for a moment to wave, "I can't wait to hear everything."
"Absolutely! You guys will have to tell me everything about UA so far! Plus what else you've been up to and when the heck Deku got his quirk!" She grinned, waving back. The two boys shot each other a look as the class began to disperse.
Uraraka paused a bit down the hallway. She looked back to see Rikuto drop her hand from waving. Just for that moment her smile fell away too, revealing a look of sadness and regret. She was hiding something, and Uraraka knew it. She pursed her lips and turned back around. She didn't trust Rikuto at all, but now was not the time to confront her. She'd just have to keep an eye on the new girl.
"Hey, you're Todoroki right," Rikuto said suddenly, catching the attention of the boy with half red half white hair before he was too far away. He turned back to look at her, surprised that he was singled out.
"That's me. Can I help you with something?" he asked. She was silent for a moment, letting the rest of their classmates disappear down other halls before she looked up to him. She looked him over, inspecting him closely. It was odd not to see her being cheerful. Her gaze made him shift uncomfortably.
"I'm sorry if this is too forward, but are you anything like Endeavor? He's your father right?"
Todoroki tensed and replied, "Yes , he's my father, but he is not the kind of man I want to be." A million questions ran through his mind. Who was she? Did she know his father? Why would she asks such weird questions? Why was she looking at him like that?
Rikuto's face returned to normal and she closed her eyes for a moment. "I see... then I have a bit of an odd favor to ask... Would you mind if I just called you Shoto? Instead of referring to you by your last name?"
It was an odd favor, and it caught Todoroki by surprise. It took him a moment to respond. He blinked and said, "Um.. I guess that's alright..." He trailed off, expecting her to explain herself.
"That's a relief... well... have a good night Shoto," she said, giving a brief smile and a quick wave before entering her room and closing the door behind her, leaving Todoroki standing in place with a million questions.
----------
A woman with pale skin and dark teal hair sat at a bar holding a glass of whiskey. Her hair was pulled back in a professional bun. Her clothes and general appearance made her look like an important business woman. She tapped impatiently on the glass with a long and very sharp looking nail that was painted a dark purple.
"Are you sure about this? You don't really strike me as the villainous type," the man sitting next to her asked.
"Villainy was never my intended path, but life is just a series of unexpected events. So here we are," she sighed, tracing her finger around the glass's rim.
"Y'know I don't do this for just anybody, but with your finances, I could get you some guys that are said to be involved with the League of Villains," the man grinned.
"I don't want anything to do with something as big as the league. I'd like to keep my name out of this, remember? Just get me the people that can do what I want," she sighed, sick of this moron already. She picked up the drink and drained the glass before setting it down a bit harshly to the side of a folder on the bar in front of her. It was open and contained a few papers and photos. Each of the photos had the same girl in them, and the name of the girl was on the paper filled with information. Terra Rikuto.
