Lyra woke up in a white room, she stood from the chair she was on. Her wrist was handcuffed to a loop in the wall. She pulled on it, placing her boot on the wall and tugging with all her might muttering a string of curses. Her hands fumbled around her jacket, all her pockets were emptied. She realized that the room was cold, she could see her breath, suddenly she had an idea. She began to pull at the handcuff more, kicking and exerting as much energy as she could. Her throat began to close as the cold reacted with her breathing, she was going to have an asthma attack, perfect. She smiled and yelled,
"Dumbasses took my INHALER! I CAN'T BREATHE." She gasped at the end. She felt her breathing become labored, the lack of air dimmed her vision. She began to fall to her knees when the door opened, a familiar face met hers. She saw something behind the woman's eyes, regret. Thena placed Lyra's inhaler in her hand. Suddenly down the hall, she heard,
"Mom? Where'd you go?" It was a boy's voice,
Thena tensed and scurried out of the room, Lyra puffed her inhaler. She could bet that if Thena didn't bring her the inhaler they would've let her die. She felt around her boot and pulled out a flask, stupid legionnaires. She opened it, empty. Lyra groaned, but then remembered her hidden multitool in the said flask. She opened the little compartment with her teeth. She pulled out a lockpick and set to work on the handcuffs. After around ten minutes the cuffs became unclasped. She rubbed her raw wrist, determination in her eyes. She needed to find her kids,
"Lux," She whispered, and the blade sprung out of the flask.
She got up, dusting off her pants and walked to the door. Silently opening it up and sneaking down the hallway. A hand grabbed her hair and pulled her into a room, this hand belonged to the green Legionnaire, Thena. They were alone in the room, the looked at each other for a few moments. Thena slammed herself into Lyra, crying. Lyra hugged her back and began to softly sob on Thena's shoulder. After a few moments they pulled away, Lyra looked her cousin over. She still looked stunning.
"Hey Thee," Lyra said, running a hand through her curly hair.
"Ly, I'm so sorry. I wanted to stop them, I was pregnant, she said she would kill my babies if I tried to stop her." She cried, begging for forgiveness.
"Thena, it isn't your fault dummy. I need to get out of here. How long have I been here?" She said seriously,
"Two days, how did you survive?" She whispered,
"By doing things I am not proud of, I was pregnant when "Our lady" threw me in." She spat, saying "our lady" full of venom. "I had to eat a monster to survive. Drink from the fire river and pray that I could reach the surface. It took five months. I escaped in February, my kids were born on the 18th and 19th they are twins. I need to get to them, I must make sure they are okay. I'm the only one they have left."
"You have children!" She gasped, then a hopeful look entered her face. "I'll try to help you out of here."
"Thee I can't have you do that, you have kids and a family," Lyra answered hotly, brushing her cousin's hair out of her face.
"Chris can take care of my boys if something happens, you are family." She said determinedly, suddenly the door banged open. Cargie walked in,
"How sweet," She said, summoning her bow staff and pushing Lyra away from Thena with it.
"Now, if you wish to keep your children safe you'll listen to me," Cargie said, towards Lyra.
"Fuck off," Lyra said through gritted teeth. Cargie tutted her.
"You can roam the building and join us again. Until the ceremony of course, in which you will do as I direct. You will fight with us, against those knights. Or we can do this the hard way." Cargie drawled,
"I'd rather die." Lyra spat, Cargie pushed her into a room with her staff. She waved her hands and ropes of red light tethered themselves to Lyra's limbs. She pulled, kicked, and screamed, Cargie placed a hand on her head and began speaking in Latin.
"Nocte terrores mortis et vetera cumulare delicta. Hominum domare potest inquietum somno, a tormentis peius quam mortem,"
Lyra was out like a light, her dreams were filled with livid nightmares that threatened to break her.
