8. Tea
Bokuto eased Akaashi even closer to him as he saw more stares being directed towards the younger male's wings. Akaashi stumbled, glancing up. "Too close."
"Hold on someone over there doesn't look like he's staring at my wings."
Akaashi glanced over and felt nauseous. His wings weren't covered at all. This is why he wore his jacket. This is what he hated about other people and their predatory stares.
"Relax. You've got that venom thing, right?"
"Mhmm."
"If it doesn't work I'm still here. I've got you." Bokuto eased a hand around his side and held him close. "Are your things at Daichi's home?"
"No."
"Great, then I can get you somewhere safer faster. This way Keiji." Bokuto led him to another house, this one looking incredibly welcoming. He walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. The door opened to show a very creepy looking man who offset him with his bright red hair and dark eyes. "Hey, hey, hey do you mind if we come in for a bit?"
"No problem. I was just fixing up Walatoshi's feathers." He smiled at Akaashi. "You scared?"
Bokuto looked at Akaashi and chuckled. "He's no threat, trust me. This is my friend Tendou. He's very kind."
Akaashi nodded. He was led inside where he saw a man laying over a divan, his wings spilling from his back and onto the floor. They were a magnificent honey color, glinting in the lights set up around him.
"You can touch his wings if you want. They're super soft." Tendou bent down and rubbed Ushijima's hair. "Wakatoshi... wake up for a moment."
Ushijima stirred before looking up at Tendou. He sighed slowly and relaxed.
"Sorry, sorry. It's about time I get you upstairs to sleep." Tendou rubbed his hair. Bokuto gently touched Akaashi's back, directing him towards Tendou. "Give me your hand."
Akaashi held out his hand and Tendou slowly went over his lover's feathers. Ushijima didn't mind a bit, setting his head in Tendou's lap and closing his eyes. "Oh..."
"He took a bath earlier and we washed his wings. They're always like this."
Bokuto sat down. "Man I wish my wings always looked that nice."
"You fly a lot so it's only natural they get messy." Tendou let go of Akaashi's hand and tapped Ushijima's shoulder. "Hey, let's get you to bed, okay?"
Ushijima nodded and yawned. He stood slowly and stretched out his wings. Akaashi sat on the couch where Bokuto was and sat at the other end, just watching as Ushijima moved a bit. Tendou was so lovey dovey on him that he actually found it sweet instead of awkward. Tendou held him around his waist and rubbed to tops of his wings, chuckling at his partner and his droopy exhaustion.
"Usually he's awake when I clean his wings but he's not awake at night like we are." Tendou kissed Ushijima's forehead and lead him into room in a little hallway.
Bokuto looked to Akaashi. "You good?"
Akaashi nodded. He attempted to tuck his wings in to make them look smaller or less noticeable despite their bright colors.
"Hey, hey, hey you're all good. If you keep tucking your wings they'll hurt a bit. Just try to relax." Bokuto leaned over and grabbed a blanket, easing it over Akaashi. "Do you need someone to take you home?"
"Maybe."
Bokuto pulled away from him. Akaashi looked nervous and his wings were twitching like crazy. Tendou walked back in and leaned down by Akaashi. "Hey."
Akaashi glanced over before inhaling deeply.
Bokuto scooted closer. "Tendou I don't think he's feeling too good right now."
Tendou's eyes widened. "Oh! I am so sorry! Would you like some tea or something? I've got a few calming ones. I didn't mean to actually scare you."
Akaashi inhaled shakily and just smiled. "I'm okay."
"And a bad liar." Tendou got up. "I'll go get you some tea."
Akaashi nodded. He felt of his wings and closed his eyes, more than upset. He felt so disgusting despite his pride in his image. His wings were stunning and he was proud to have them but people knew what they could do with wings like his.
There were markets for wings like his. One cut and someone was paid thousands for a bright blue set of wings.
Bokuto set a hand on Akaashi's shoulder and gave him a look of sympathy. "I know what you're thinking and I'm not letting someone hurt you. I swear I won't."
Akaashi took in a shaky breath. "Home?"
"You wanna go home?"
"Please."
"Of course. Just as soon as you drink what Tendou made you, I'll take you home, Akaashi. No need to worry." Bokuto rubbed his shoulder. "And please wear a coat more often to make sure you don't get too cold."
Akaashi nodded. He wanted Bokuto to stop touching him. Carefully, he nudged away Bokuto's hand and sat still, holding his hands together. Tendou brought him some tea and talked quietly with Bokuto about nicer things so that Akaashi would calm down easier.
As soon as he was done with his drink Bokuto stood and led him outside, shielding him with his wing. Akaashi, now calmer, followed closely and just walked aimlessly.
"We've been walking for a while Keiji. Which way to your house?"
Akaashi looked around and pointed to the left. Bokuto followed Akaashi in the dark to his home. Akaashi moved back the moss blankets and Bokuto watched him lower into the little home.
"Want me to stay up here?"
"Mm..." Akaashi looked around and gestured down. Bokuto went into the little space and tucked his wings as close to his body as he could. Akaashi grabbed a blanket and laid down in his bed, closing his eyes. Bokuto chuckled and sat down on the floor, listening for anything. Akashi started to snore and Bokuto relaxed somewhat. That tea must have been something else.
