30. Little Drawings, Big naps
This was a first. A huge first. Akaashi had never before seen a little boy have so much anger. Yuuma had cried for a whole hour, kicking and screaming the whole time. He couldn't get a single word out and was mad from that. He kept hitting Bokuto's shin and Bokuto just sat and watched him, rubbing one of his hands.
"Are we done crying? Hm?"
Yuuma hiccuped. He whined softly.
Bokuto sighed. "Buddy. I know you're upset. But if you keep hitting me it won't help."
Yuuma whimpered. He grabbed Bokuto's calf and shook it.
"Can we use words or something?"
Akaashi leaned down and touched his back. "Be easy on yourself. Remember our talk? Daddy and I love you."
"They would never hurt you!" Tendou quickly said.
"See?"
Yuuma rubbed his eyes and held out his arms for Bokuto to lift him. Bokuto picked him up and hugged him. "Deep breaths..."
Yuuma gestured for Akaashi and Akaashi hugged both of them. "Can you tell us what's wrong?"
"Daddy..."
"Yeah buddy?"
"Missed daddy."
Bokuto hummed and expanded his wings around the three of them. "Is that why you were angry?"
"Wanted daddy to wake me up but you left!"
"Moonlight he did wake you up," Akaashi whispered.
"Yeah bud, I did. You must've been too sleepy to remember it. Did you want to have breakfast with me? Is that it?"
"Mhmm!"
"Okay, okay. We can have breakfast together so we don't get so fussy again." Bokuto kissed his head. "Okay?"
"Okay..."
Akaashi smiled. He pat his hand. "I love you."
"Love Kashi."
Akaashi rubbed his back. "Daddy needs to go back to work soon. Do you think you'll be okay until then?"
Yuuma nodded. He sniffled. "Gonna miss daddy."
Bokuto kissed his forehead. "I'll miss you too, little man. We need to behave though okay?"
Yuuma nodded. "Didn't mean to! I needed to let the hurt out."
Akaashi lifted Yuuma away from Bokuto. "It's about time for your nap."
Yuuma laid on Akaashi's chest. Bokuto stood and gestured to Ushijima. "Go lay down with Ushijima little guy. Daddy needs to talk to Kashi."
Yuuma hesitated but did as he was told.
"Where's a bathroom?"
Tendou got up and led Bokuto to a bathroom, Akaashi being dragged behind by Bokuto. "What's going on?"
"I need to make sure he didn't hurt you. I saw how hard he held on."
Akaashi sighed. "Thank you Tendou."
Bokuto closed the door. "Lift your shirt please."
"I'm not a client, you can be informal." Akaashi lifted his shirt and Bokuto knelt down, running his hands over the little bruises.
"Damn that kid has some strength."
Akaashi ran his fingers through Bokuto's hair, just watching. His sides didn't hurt much at all.
Bokuto looked up, fully in the train of thought as a doctor still. "Do they hurt?"
"Not much, no."
"That's good. Do you want an ice pack or something?"
"No."
"Oh." Bokuto put down his shirt and pat his stomach, smiling. "All good then."
Akaashi held Bokuto's cheek. "Done?"
Bokuto stood and nodded. "Done. I'll see you for dinner?"
"You will. I'm having Tendou watch Yuuma."
"Cool." Bokuto opened the bathroom door and prompted Akaashi to step out first. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I just like looking at you."
Bokuto laughed. "Come on, I've gotta go back now."
Akaashi kissed Bokuto. "Love you."
"I love you." Bokuto left and Akaashi went back to Yuuma, picking him up slowly as to keep him calm. He held him close and kissed his hair. Yuuma stirred and held onto Akaashi. His cheeks were a bit red still and he had puffy eyes but he was okay now.
"Poor kid. Does he always have tantrums like that?" Tendou questioned.
"No, just recently."
Ushijima yawned softly and Tendou eased him into his lap. "Go to sleep."
Ushijima shook his head. "I'm okay."
"Yeah, yeah. Hush and lay down." He grabbed a blanket and Ushijima immediately relaxed, laying down. His wings spilled everywhere, on the couch and floor and on Tendou. "There we go. Big baby."
"I'm not a baby."
Akaashi smiled, confused. This was such an odd dynamic. He just rubbed Yuuma's back and kissed his hair. This was a baby. His sweet little baby.
Tendou leaned back and picked up a book from next to the couch, taking a pencil to the pages. He kept glancing at Ushijima, his eyes filled with nothing but love and pure admiration.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm drawing him," Tendou whispered. He looked up. "He knows I do this too so it's okay."
"Why are you drawing him?"
"Because I love to draw. I love Wakatoshi. Why not just combine them?"
Akaashi hummed. He leaned back slowly and Yuuma sighed heavily.
"Drawing really helps get such large emotions like this out, you should try it sometime. You're a little tense."
"Thanks..."
Tendou heard Ushijima snore and laughed softly. "Oh boy."
"What is it?"
"He's super loud when he snores." Tendou tapped Ushijima's shoulder. "Hey, want me to extend the couch?"
Ushijima turned and nodded. He relaxed as his wings were held up and most of his back was kept up. Akaashi couldn't deny that such a large man barely fit there. Tendou just kept drawing though, unfazed.
"Is he not scared of slipping?" Akaashi questioned.
Tendou shrugged. "I got a specially made couch so he wouldn't fall. Because of his wings and muscle mass and shit he's considered overweight so I got the couch reinforced and now it doesn't move when he naps. Which is a lot."
"Interesting." Akaashi started to wonder about Bokuto and his body type. Was he considered overweight? His wings were heavy and he did have a lot of muscle mass. He thought it was cute though. Bokuto was huge and he had this cute little personality full of love.
Yuuma whined softly and sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Where's daddy?"
"Daddy is going to be back soon," Akaashi whispered. He rubbed Yuuma's cheek. "Lack back down moonlight."
Yuuma laid back down. "Chilly."
Tendou got up slowly and searched for a blanket that wouldn't engulf Yuuma. He found one of his own and gave it to Akaashi. "How long have you two had him?"
"Bokuto's had him for a few months. I recently stepped into his life but he seems to like me." Akaashi wrapped Yuuma up. "All better moonlight?"
"Mhmm..."
Tendou smiled, his scales stretching on his skin. "He's so little."
"All mice children are according to Bokuto." Akaashi rubbed behind his ears and Yuuma relaxed. Yuuma seemed to love that too, always relaxing when Akaashi rubbed his ears.
Tendou glanced at Ushijima before looking at Akaashi. "I've been thinking..."
"About?"
"Having a kid."
Akaashi smiled. "Great."
"Yeah it is great but I don't know how to go about it. Like how would I even know what I can handle or if Wakatoshi wants to have a family with me? I want one with him. He's perfect for a dad."
"I don't know how to bring it up but it's definitely a humbling experience. Yuuma has said rude things to me so many times and I just have to sigh."
"Autistic kids do tend to say rude things. All of my brothers are autistic and younger than me and they were super blunt as kids."
"He's not-"
"I know. But I'm just saying."
Ushijima stirred. "Satori? Where did you go?"
"I'm right here big guy, just lay back down."
Ushijima turned. He huffed. "Satori."
"Yeah!"
Ushijima sat up further. "I can't see welll in the dark. Where are you?"
"I'm over on the other couch. Hold on." Tendou got up and lit a candle. Ushijima's eyes adjusted and he smiled softly.
"You're there."
Tendou kissed Ushijima and smiled. "I'm here."
Akaashi wondered how polar opposites like them got along. Eagles ate snakes in the wild but this was different. The snake took care of the eagle and treated him like a child would a pet. Not in a weird way either, Tendou's love practically radiated off of him, filling the space with warmth.
"Tendou?"
"Yes?"
"Why didn't you hibernate?"
"I have extra layers to keep warm. It kills me to wake up all weak and see him waiting for me. This is my first year without it but I feel great."
Yuuma whined. "Kashi hurts... hurts..."
"Try to go back to sleep little one. I know it hurts but sleep may help."
"Hurts real bad though," Yuuma whimpered. His tail curled up and he whimpered louder. "Hurts."
Tendou looked up. "What's wrong? Does he need the bathroom?"
"No, he's got back problems." He turned Yuuma onto his stomach and set him down. He opened his bag to find balm that he rubbed into Yuuma's lower back. "Tell me when it feels better, okay?"
Yuuma started to cry. "I want my daddy."
"You want daddy?"
"Yes please! Please!"
Akaashi sighed. It had only been around an hour. Bokuto didn't get off for another two hours. "Daddy gets out of his job in two hours. Can we be calm until then?"
Yuuma whined.
"Oh I know buddy, I know. I want to see him too. It's going to be okay."
Yuuma's tail flicked. "My tummy hurts too!"
"Do you need your medicine?"
"Yes please!"
Tendou watched as Yuuma told Akaashi the dose of medicine he needed and could practically hear his heart break. This itty bitty kid knew what to do with his health when all he should have been focusing on was making finger paintings and playing games.
