21. Flying, Soaring
"Is it okay if we keep Suga asleep while Akaashi eats?"
Bokuto nodded and gently picked up Akaashi off of the couch. "I just need to get him to eat and take some supplements."
Daichi had already started heating the pasta from earlier back up so that Akaashi would be able to eat. Bokuto woke him up and gently held him as he gathered his surroundings, sorting through his bag for the supplements Akaashi needed.
"Here we go. How do you feel Akaashi?"
"Like I'm gonna be sick if you show me a needle."
"Don't worry it's liquid medicine." Bokuto sat him up. "You do have to eat afterwards or you will throw up."
Akaashi nodded. He yawned and held out his hand. Bokuto handed him the little cup and Akaashi gagged as he downed the medicine.
Daichi brought him the bowl of noodles and Bokuto made sure he ate every single piece of pasta. When Akaashi was done Bokuto stayed a bit longer to help him out with trying to get him to try and walk around to get his blood pumping.
"You look really tired. How often are you eating?"
"Whenever I'm hungry," Akaashi mumbled.
Bokuto looked over Akaashi and just furrowed his brows. "You should go lay down now. I'll be back to check on you when I check on Sugawara."
"Okay."
"Wait, are you planning on staying here for the blizzard?"
"I'm going home."
Bokuto stopped walking before sighing. "That's not safe."
Akaashi glanced at him, confused. "Why?"
"You get sick pretty easy." Bokuto took in a deep breath. "Did you want me to take you home? You could come back to my home if you needed to."
Akaashi stared at Bokuto. He didn't quite feel good at the moment but the thought of being held by someone who felt so safe to him felt wonderful. He reached and touched one of Bokuto's wings.
Bokuto opened his wings a bit and pulled Akaashi to his chest, holding him. He had a fever and Bokuto was sure that he was just delirious at the moment. "We can stop by your house to grab your things. It's okay."
"I'm going to be sick," Akaashi managed to get out.
Bokuto hurried him to a bathroom and Akaashi dropped in front of a toilet, throwing up. Instead of staying where he had been he clung to Bokuto, shaking. "Easy, easy... deep breaths."
Akaashi shuddered and nodded. "I think that's it."
"That's never it." Bokuto sat him up and Akaashi spat up in the toilet. "There we go."
Akaashi whined softly, hand on his chest. Bokuto cleaned him up and got his coat on him. Akaashi protested that Kuroo would kick him back out in a sense and Bokuto just laughed.
"Keiji the house is in my name. I own everything and he can't tell me who I can let in my house. Now let's go before Yuuma starts wrecking shit."
Akaashi nodded. He leaned by Sugawara and said goodbye before saying goodbye to Daichi. Bokuto looked exhausted but his wings kept twitching in worry.
"I don't think it's the best idea for you to be walking around in the snow when you're sick."
Akaashi tried to flap his wings but they were under his coat. He sighed. Bokuto scooped him up and extended his wings.
"Hold on really tight."
Akaashi held on and Bokuto linked his arms behind him. He launched into the air and Akaashi cried out.
"Easy, easy. I've lifted heavier than you." Bokuto smiled and rubbed Akaashi's back. "You'll be back on the ground before you know it."
"I hate this!"
"I'm not even flying very fast."
Akaashi clung to him even tighter. He was warm but being so high up made him nervous.
Bokuto chuckled at how hard of a grip Akaashi had on his back. "Easy Keiji, easy. I'm not gonna drop you. I promise. I've got you sunshine."
Akaashi's face warmed and he smiled. Sunshine...

"Akaashi!"
Akaashi looked up from taking off his coat and smiled wearily at Yuuma. "Are you ready for bed?"
Yuuma climbed up on the bed and Akaashi took off his coat. He laid down, taking Yuuma into his arms. Both were asleep within minutes, Akaashi's wings fluttering behind him.
"Yuuma I've got medicine. Akaashi I found something to help you out with how bad you're feeling-" Bokuto looked up and smiled. He walked over to his bed and covered Akaashi up. "Looks like my little man didn't need his melatonin..."
Akaashi yawned and stretched. He opened his eyes. "What's going on?"
"Just covering you up."
Akaashi nodded. He reached out and rubbed Bokuto's bicep. "Lay down."
"You are really feeling up my muscles there Keiji."
"I didn't fall for you for no reason," Akaashi whispered. His hand dropped and he exhaled softly.
"Huh?!" Bokuto rushed back upstairs and grabbed Kuroo.
"Hey, hey?! Watch it?!"
"I swear on my wings Akaashi just said he liked me."
Kuroo nodded slowly at Bokuto. He was confused beyond belief as to why this was his business when he was trying to go to bed but it sounded good. "That's great man. It's bed time."
"I get that. Great. But why did he just say that?"
"Because he likes you. I don't know why else he would say it."
Bokuto nodded before promptly turning around and going back to bed. He laid with his back to Akaashi as he had in a sense trained himself to do.
He felt a hand in his feathers and turned a bit. "Hm?"
Akaashi's hand kept moving and he whined softly.
Bokuto turned over and covered him in a wing. Akaashi relaxed and Yuuma turned over, suckling on his tongue. "Oh sweet little man."
All was quiet for a while as Bokuto listened to Yuuma's slow breaths and Akaashi's shallow ones. He always had a weird habit of shallow breathing in his sleep and Bokuto found it worrying. He moved Yuuma closer to the wall and gently moved Akaashi so that he could breathe better, startling him awake in the process.
"Woah! Don't hit me!"
Akaashi coughed. "What're you doing?"
"Trying to get you on your side properly so you can sleep without accidentally killing yourself. You have really shallow breathing."
Akaashi stared up at Bokuto before scoffing softly and turning over.
"Damn." Bokuto huddled up behind him and stretched out his wing. Akaashi leaned into him, resting himself where he found comfortable. Bokuto just smiled and closed his eyes.
Akaashi sighed heavily. "I need to pee."
Bokuto groaned. "Hold on."
Akaashi crawled over him and went to the bathroom before returning, huddling back into Bokuto's chest.
"I really wish you didn't have weird sleeping habits."
"I wish your shirt was off."
Bokuto laughed. "Nice try. Lots of people wish that."
Akaashi giggled softly.
"That fever man..." Akaashi quieted down and started to drift back off. Yuuma started to whine and Bokuto leaned over to soothe him, trying not to move too much. "You okay Bubba? Something hurt?"
Yuuma turned over, claiming a pillow on his way. Bokuto just laid back down and held Akaashi. The younger of the two got as comfortable as he needed and Bokuto felt his arm and part of his wing fall asleep before he did because of it but all that mattered was that Akaashi was okay in the moment.
