11. Glass and Bottle
Bokuto cried out as he felt snow go down his back. "Keiji you asshole!"
Akaashi giggled, running off to hide.
"Hey!" Bokuto chased after him, tackling him into the snow. Akaashi kicked and laughed, giggling like crazy. "What?! Does that tickle?!"
Akaashi slapped Bokuto's shoulder. "Stop it, I'm gonna pee myself!"
Bokuto let go and plopped on Akaashi's chest. "I could go for some hot tea or chocolate."
"Mhmm."
"Wanna go get some?" Bokuto sat up and flapped his wings to get the snow off. "I know a really good cafe."
Akaashi yawned. He squinted. "Is the sun rising?"
"It shouldn't be." Bokuto turned and sighed. "It is."
"Ah..." Akaashi sat up carefully and rubbed his eyes. "I can't see well right now."
"Ah crap you don't have the eyes I've got at all, do you?" Bokuto stood and hurriedly held Akaashi up with him. "Just hold onto my wing. I've got you."
Akaashi nodded and held on, a hand over his eyes. Bokuto led him slowly across town and into the woods.
"You wanna go to your house or mine?"
"I don't know I just need to lay down." Akaashi stumbled over a vine hidden in the snow. All he could see was a blinding white and it burned. "Do you have a blindfold or something?"
Bokuto opened his bag and found gauze. He put it over Akaashi's eyes. "There we go."
Akaashi held Bokuto's arm.
"I'm gonna have to carry you since there's so much snow. We can go to my place and you can lay down and we'll be good." Akaashi nodded. He felt for Bokuto's other arm. Bokuto held him close, gently scooping him up. "Just relax. We can go grab your blanket and get going."
"Mhmm."
Bokuto rushed to Akaashi's home and grabbed his blanket and then took him to his home, the sun completely up and shining now. "You okay?"
"Mhmm. Tired."
Bokuto stepped into his home and Kuroo looked up. "Shit is he hurt?"
"He's okay. He's alright. The sun started rising while we were out and his eyes hurt." Bokuto set him in a chair. He uncovered Akaashi's eyes and Akaashi stared in his direction. "How about something to eat first?"
"I'm not sure."
"You're not sure? Do you want to just go lay down?"
Akaashi nodded, grabbing for Bokuto's arm. Bokuto held his hand and kept him close as he led him down the hallway and then the stairs. Akaashi stood still as he heard Bokuto moving things around.
"Can you see?"
"My eyes are adjusting but I can see the bed."
"Come lay down and I'll cover you up."
"It's your bed-"
"And it's not illegal to snuggle last time I checked. I'm gonna go get something to eat and then come down here and lay against the wall." Bokuto tapped the bed. "Lay down you goose."
Akaashi stumbled over and laid down and was almost out immediately. He held his mother's blanket and snuggled up to its warmth. Bokuto ate upstairs with Kuroo, both talking quietly so as to not wake anyone in the house. Kuroo's lover was eventually awake though and he crawled into Kuroo's lap, whining softly about him being an asshole.
Bokuto just laughed and went back to where he usually slept. "You awake?"
Akaashi stayed silent and Bokuto just climbed into bed behind Akaashi, laying on his stomach. One of his wings spread over Akaashi and kept him close and warm. Bokuto focused on counting sheep, taking slow breaths. Everything upstairs was quiet for the most part. He fell asleep in no time, warm.
Hours went by before he startled awake, sweating and shaking.
He turned over and Akaashi was curled up to him, sleeping silently. Bokuto sighed and wiped his face with his hand. "Whew..."
Akaashi yawned. He stretched and his fingers went down Bokuto's wing. He sighed. Slowly, he got up and went upstairs. He grabbed a glass of water and sat at the table, exhausted.
"You good Bokuto?"
Bokuto looked up at Oikawa and Iwaizumi and nodded weakly. "I'm okay."
"Another nightmare?" Iwaizumi questioned, sitting down.
"Yeah." Bokuto took a sip of his water. "Do we have any alcohol left?"
"Now Bokuto-" Oikawa started.
"No, no. I'm not getting drunk. I'm not like that anymore and we know it." Bokuto sat up straight. "Dude do you really think so little of me?"
"No. I'm just worried is all."
Iwaizumi grabbed a glass and a bottle. "I'm watching him. He had a nightmare and it's okay to calm down with a drink."
Bokuto glanced at Oikawa. "It's okay... I can do without. I'm just gonna go lay down."
Iwaizumi shot his lover a glare. "Tooru shut your mouth."
Bokuto sighed. "I'm okay." He got up and went to bed again, huddling up next to Akaashi but staying away from him.
His mind was racing with fear still and he just wanted to go to sleep. Akaashi whined loudly and spread out his wings. Bokuto tapped his arm.
"Relax."
Akaashi's eyes flickered open. "Mm?"
"Relax Akaashi."
Akaashi huddled up and held onto Bokuto. "Mm cold."
Bokuto felt his forehead just in case before holding him closer. No fever was good news. Akaashi huddled closer and Bokuto wrapped his wings around him. Akaashi hummed and slept soundly through the rest of the sunlight hours. Bokuto on the other hand couldn't get any more sleep. He was tired beyond belief but his mind wouldn't stop thinking about Oikawa's panic over him simply asking for alcohol.
Was he not trusted anymore? It had been years since he'd gotten drunk. Years since he'd done something wrong.

Oikawa smiled at Akaashi, giggling at him. "Good morning sleepy head."
Akaashi glared halfheartedly. He made the sign for coffee and sat down, his wings limp behind him.
"You have lotsa fun last night with Bokuto? Hm?"
"Mm?"
"I'm joking." Oikawa grabbed Akaashi some coffee and handed him the mug. Akaashi put his knees to his chest and relaxed. "Where's Bokuto?"
"Sleeping."
"Still?"
"Mhmm. Took me a bit to get up. His wings." Akaashi set down his mug and stretched forward.
"What do you mean his wings?" Oikawa sat down and tilted his head. "I'm confused."
"He wrapped me in them. Like blankets."
"Aw that is so cute. Are his wings warm?"
"And soft." Akaashi smiled. "It was nice."
Kuroo walked in the room and waved to Akaashi. "Hey."
Akaashi waved back. He watched Kuroo walk around and get coffee before walking back off. Bokuto came upstairs, dressed and with his hair brushed. "I've got to make a really important home visit. Akaashi do you want me to walk you home?"
Akaashi downed the rest of his coffee and nodded, standing up. Bokuto raised his brows.
"Eat first."
"Mm?"
"Eat. You're gonna have a damned rush like I do."
Akaashi hesitated to even move, not sure as to what to do. Oikawa handed him a muffin. "Relax. He's making sure you're okay."
Akaashi nodded. He bit into the muffin and stood carefully.
"Did you plan on doing anything today?"
Akaashi shook his head.
"Then you're coming with me."
Oikawa stood. "I dunno man he gets sick real easy it may not be a good idea."
"I'm okay," Akaashi stated quietly. He yawned and shuffled away to get his shoes.
"He'll be okay. We both need the company."
"Hey I'm sorry about earlier. You know I didn't mean it in a bad way I hope. I was just worried."
"I know. You guys have been keeping a really close eye on me and it's super obvious none of you have any faith in me and what I'm able to do on my own." Bokuto straightened his back. "I know how bad I had gotten back then but I'm not like that anymore. I'm not going to hurt any of you and I thought you knew that."
Oikawa closed his mouth before sighing. "I do trust you but you know how bad things can get-"
"I haven't gotten bad in six years, Oikawa. If that's not enough proof that I can handle myself then you can fuck off." Bokuto went to the top of the stairs. "Keiji are you good?!"
"I can't find my shoes anywhere!"
Bokuto spotted his boots. "They're up here!"
Akaashi hurried upstairs and slipped them on. He glanced at Oikawa staring at the table. Bokuto seemed rigid. "Is everything okay?"
Bokuto smiled wide. "All is good man let's get going."
Akaashi nodded and followed him, worried by his friend's saddened stare as he left.
