5. Teamwork

I had been with the turtles for a while now. It was great. The feeling of safety and security while having a family. It was amazing.

Shortly after I'd agreed to stay a room was made for me. It was located next to Raphael's.

Inside was a single bed with a bed side table. On it was a white lamp. I had a shelf that was empty at the moment, holding only my Kunai. The others assured me that it would hold many memories in the times to come.

I hadn't been on any missions with the turtles. I hadn't had enough training!

But I trained with the turtles a lot and Master Splinter very often. When the turtles went on missions I trained with Splinter.

"Arms higher, back straighter. Try again." He said as he held his hand out infront. I turned sharply, swung my leg around and finally hit his hand. "Yes!" I cheered. "Well done." He praised.

"I recall you saying something about your powers." He inquired. "Yes. I have wind abilities. I can fly and create forces of wind." I explained. I took a step back and then jumped into the air, doing loop-dee-loops to prove my point. "Most impressive Breeze." He said amused. "Thank you sensei." I smiled.

He walked over to me as I landed on the floor. "I believe you are ready." He said. "Ready to go out with the turtles?! To the surface?!" I said excitedly. He nodded. "Ohhh thank you thank you thank you." I cheered. I then randomly hugged him.

My eyes snapped open and I realised what I was doing. I jumped back. "Uh. . . Sorry." I said nervously. "That is alright Breeze, we are your family." He said with a warm smile. I returned the gesture, bowed and walked out of the dojo.

Shortly after the turtles walked back in from patrol.

"How'd it go?" I asked. "Ugh bad!" Raph whined as he dropped onto the couch. "Why?" I questioned. "There were no bad guys! No action! Nothing." He replied. "Isn't that good?" I asked confused. "No! Then I can't hit anyone!" He whined. I shook my head and smiled lightly.

Splinter walked in. "Breeze will be going with you on your future missions." He explained. "Really?!" Mikey cheered. Splinter nodded. "Yayyyy!!" Mikey yelled as he ran up and hugged me. I hugged back and once he let go I glanced at the leader. The blue ninja smiled and nodded at me.

The time came. It was finally time for me to go onto the surface and go on an actual mission! I was so pumped.

We were tracking some mutagen on Donnie's tracker in the shell raiser.

Still as bumpy as I remember my first trip to their lair. I stood up in the back of the shell raiser. Leo made a sharp right turn. I fell over and landed on Raphs lap.

I looked up at him and blushed hard as I frantically tried to get back up. "Sorry, sorry, sorry!" I rapidly said as I regained my footing. "No worries." He said calmly trying to hide a smirk but failing.

We reached an abandoned warehouse and saw shadows in there, many shadows. "Uh that's an abandoned warehouse. Why would anyone be in there?" Donnie asked curiously. "Exactly." Leo started. "We're gonna have to take a break from looking for mutagen, let's check out the warehouse." He ordered.

"Raph, Breeze take the front. Donnie, Mikey back. I'll go from above." Leo ordered. We all moved out.

Raph and I kicked the door down. Inside we found the purple dragons, foot ninjas, Bradford and . . . Xever. How I hated that dude!

By now all the turtles had entered the warehouse. "Raph, get Bradford. Mikey Donnie Breeze get the purple dragons and foot ninjas." Leo commanded, but that left him with Xever. No way. He was mine!

Without hesitation I ran towards Xever and kicked him in the gut. "Breeze! I said get the foot!" Leo yelled. "No! Xevers mine!" I retorted back.

I swung my kunai at Xever he deflected it with his knives and grabbed the chain once it fell to the ground. He pulled me towards him and punched me in my stomach and then round housing me making me fall to the floor. That's it. Time for the powers.

I flew high into the air and grabbed Xever in a tornado. "Argh! Let me go!" He demanded. "Not happening Xever!" I spat. I threw him down into the floor.

While he was trying to get up I heard Donnie yell, "Leo there's too many!"

"Yeh dudes we can't ah-" Mikey was cut off by a kick to his shell. "Mikey!" Leo cried out.

"Raph grab Mikey, Donnie cover them. Retreat!" Leo yelled. "Breeze lets go!" He ordered. "No!" I retorted. Leo ran up behind me and grabbed my wrist and pulled me with him.

Sensei had called a lovely meeting in the dojo and wanted us to explain why we failed our mission. It didn't go to well.

"Master Splinter it was Breeze! She didn't listen to my orders and in the end we failed the mission and Mikey got hurt!" Leo complained.

I sat down in line with the other turtles, crossing my arms, trying to ignore them. I did feel a little guilty, especially for Mikey. But it's not like I was gonna admit it! And being the stubborn girl I am I argued that it wasn't my fault even though I knew it really was.

"It's not my fault! I said I was going for Xever!" I yelled at Leo. "Yes it is your fault! You can't follow orders!" Leo yelled back. "You can't tell me what to do!" I screamed.

I couldn't take any more, I flew out of the dojo and slammed the door shut. As I did I heard the rack of weapons fall down from the impact of the door.

Oops.

I cracked open the door, like, 2cm. I used my powers to stand the rack back up and place each weapon back on the rack. Then I left the lair.

I flew out of the sewers and flew a few blocks down finally settling for a rooftop. I sat on the edge.

A few tears rolled down my cheek. "Why can't I just be normal like everyone else." I whispered to myself while looking at my hands.

"Because you were destined for so much more than normal." I heard a voice. I jumped around, only to find Raph staring at me.

"Go away." I chocked out as I started walking away. He grabbed my wrist, firm but gentle at the same time. "Breeze wait." He said.

"What." I sighed. "What's wrong?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "Ugh you were in the dojo weren't you! I'm pretty sure you saw what just happened!" I yelled impatiently.

"I did. But that's not why you're mad." He continued. Unbelievable. He saw right through me! He cocked his head to the side. "You've been crying." He said. I quickly wiped my face, "N-no I haven't." I stuttered.

I turned away from him. "I can't do this. I can't follow orders. I can't be on your team, I'll just put you all in more danger. I've been alone all my life. This sudden change. It's too much. I'm more of a threat than an ally to you." I explained.

Raph placed a hand on my shoulder and spun me around. "Listen. I don't normally do this whole soft mushy talk, but, Sometimes I can't handle Leo myself and I don't listen to him either. But in the end, I know we're better together and when we work as one. So I just have to work on trusting my brother and listening to him. You can do that too, you just need to learn to trust him and his judgement." He started.

"It may be hard to get used to, listening and taking orders from him. But in the end, it's for the better. Trust me." He smiled at me. A few more tears rolled down my cheek, and a weak smile appeared on my face.

"Cmon, let's head back to the lair." He said. I nodded and we went back.

--------

We entered the lair. I looked over to Raph and he nodded back at me.

I slowly flew over to Leo's bedroom door. I quietly knocked on his door. He slowly opened it. His face and expression giving me more reason to just step away and leave.

"L-Leo, look I-I'm. . . ugh you know what i'm tryna say!" I said, not wanting to say the 's' word. He just looked at me waiting for me to finish my sentence.

"sorry." I whispered. He turned his head, "Sorry what was that?" He asked. "I said I'm sorry." I said a little louder. "So-rry!" I now shouted, starting to get annoyed. "Ok ok ok I get it." He said, he seemed to forgive me as he flashed a smile and sat down to watch 'Space Heroes', I think it was called.

"You know, you're a lot like Raph." Leo said as he stared at the screen. I smirked a little.

"HEY!" Raph yelled at his older brother.
