Chapter 7
Training went surprisingly well. All I really had to do was show Splinter what I could do as far as combat. That lasted the entire training time.
Now, I sit on the couch, my legs crossed and, once again, I prepared to tell the Turtles about me. Or more specifically, my powers.
"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, but I warn you, this is a lot to take in." I began. I took a deep breath. "You see, I have certain powers. As you have already seen, I can heal myself. I can also heal anyone around me, as well as bring them back to life." I paused when I saw Mikey's excited expression. "I never do though. That can have consequences."
"Like what?" Raph asked. I shrugged.
"I don't know. I've never tried it."
"Anyways." Leo urged. I nodded.
"Anyway, I also have elemental powers, which means I can do this -" I stood up and closed my eyes. I focused, then opened my eyes when I was ready. I could feel my eyes glowing a sky blue, as they always did when I used my powers. I stuck my hand palm out at the tire swing. Ice shot from my hand and froze the swing.
"Whoa..." The guys chorused. I sat back down.
"That's only my ice portion. I can also manipulate water, fire, earth, and air. I also have enhanced senses, which means I can see, hear, taste, touch, and smell a lot better than even the average ninja. I can also tell when someone's lying, so don't even think about it. I can also teleport, but only within any city I'm in. But when I teleport to a place I'm not supposed to be in, I can't do anything but listen and watch. No one else can see or hear me. So when I teleport, I'm basically useless unless you wanna hear a secret plan. But that power has been out of whack lately, so I don't use it anymore."
"Anything else?" Donnie asked.
"Oh, and I have heightened reflexes and agility, which is why I'm so good at Martial Arts." I leaned back into the couch, relaxing my back and shoulders. "That's about it."
I watched as the boys took it all in, their faces awestrucked and amazed. Then, Mikey broke into a grin.
"This is so COOL!!" He yelled, excited. Everyone else smiled.
"We can use these newly discovered abilities to our team's advantage." Sensei mused. "Would that be of acceptance, Miss Kaylie?" He asked me.
"Of course, Sensei. Anything for the guys that saved my life." I responded, smiling around at my new, unexpected best friends...and a crush. Sensei nodded and disappeared into the Dojo. Everyone kind of dispersed, going off to do their own things. Donnie shut himself in his lab, Mikey moved off to the pinball machine, Leo sat down in front of the TV, and Raph followed Splinter to the Dojo, grunting something about "working out". I sat down beside Leo.
"So..." Leo began.
"So."
"Superpowers, huh?"
"Well, I wouldn't call it 'superpowers' as much as 'special abilities'." I said, smiling and crossing my legs again.
"Must be nice." He murmured. I thought about it. Yeah it was nice at times, but those other times...they were just a burden.
"I guess." Then I noticed what the TV was turned to. Old reruns of "Space Heroes".
"No way." I whispered. Leo looked at me, confused. "Am I seriously watching 'Space Heroes' right now?" I couldn't keep the excitement out of my voice, but he didn't seem to catch it.
"You can change the channel, if you want." He offered me the remote.
"Are you kidding?" I pushed the remote away and focused on the TV. "I used to watch this all the time before they cancelled it!" I stretched out onto my stomach, elbows in front of me and chin in my hands, kicking my feet.
"Really?" He mirrored my pose.
"Yes, now SHHH!" I shushed him excitedly. I knew I probably looked like a little girl about to see Santa Claus, but I couldn't help it. I thought I was the only one who liked this show.
We watched "Space Heroes" for a bit until the reruns ended. Then I sat up and stretched.
"That was fun." I said. "I'm gonna get to bed." Leo hesitated, but then he said, "Okay", and stood up. He offered me his hand. I took it, even though the thought of holding his hand made me blush, and he helped me to my feet.
"Can I walk you to your room?" He asked. I blushed again, but hid it with a nod.
Outside of my new room, we were stumbling over good nights. Leo rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly looking embarrassed and nervous at the same time.
"Um...Kaylie?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you...uh...would you mind if..." Leo was stumbling over his words, and if it wasn't adorable, I'd help him. Instead, I folded my hands in front of me. He was as red as me, if not redder.
"Um...would you mind...maybe, going out sometime?" He finally asked, looking at me hopefully. I don't think I heard right. LEO just asked ME out on a...date?
"Like a date?" I asked, just as hopeful and getting redder by the second. Leo gave me a shy nod. I grinned.
"Can you do nine tomorrow?" I asked. Leo's blue eyes lit up with excitement and he nodded again.
"I'll be there." I winked.
"Great! What do you say...a movie? My room? Just us?" He questioned. Normally, I would have suggested the surface somewhere, but I can't exactly leave yet...except...
"Wait. I know this really cool private pool that's completely deserted by nine." I smirked. "Up for a swim?"
Maybe it was the thought of seeing me in a bathing suit, or the fact that he'd rather have a date up top than here, but he nodded.
"I'll be there." Leo mimicked my wink and we laughed. We said our good nights and I disappeared into my room.
I collapsed on the bed and sighed. I couldn't believe it. I had a DATE with the guy of my dreams!!!
