Red X Jack
A few weeks ago I actually had a dream about this happening. I just messed with a few minor details to make it a little more like TLOS. I also made up the flashback part so that it'd fit together better... It's kinda funny that I had this dream because I'm not really a shipper of Red and Jack.. Oh well.. Let's just see how it ends up, but hopefully you like it! :D
"PRINCESS RED!" A deep voice echoed down the halls of the kingdom.
Red ignored the call and continued sprinting away as quietly as possible. It was dark outside and her knees had hurt from the impact of the landing. She had leapt three stories from the ground out of her window. But she was out of the kingdom, and didn't ever want to return to that dreadful place ever again. Determination carried her faster than she'd ever gone.
(Flashback) Red's father slammed the door when he entered the room. Red looked down. She knew exactly why he was angry, but she had to do what she wanted to do. Not him. He has his own life, he doesn't need to control my life as well.
"Why can't you just marry him Red?" He paced back in fourth in the room. Prince Gale. That's who he was talking about. A rich, immature, snobby, ugly excuse for a prince. He was nothing like who Red would really want to marry.
"Because I don't love him! He's the biggest jerk I've ever met in my life." She shivered as she remembered all of the horrible things he'd done.
"Red, just open your eyes! There is no such thing as true love! Your mother and I had an arranged marriage ad we turned out just fine now didn't we? You and Prince Gale will figure it out, but you have to marry him!"
"I can't!" Red screamed. Her father slapped her across the face and she went spiraling across the floor. He stared down at her in disgust, "You can and you will whether you want to or not! That is the only thing we can do to keep this kingdom!"
Red sniffed and held her cheek,"You don't even care about me and you never have! So why should I do what you want me to do?"
"Because I am not going to lose my kingdom and my riches! You are going to marry him tomorrow and that is final!" He yelled before he stormed out of the door. "Guards. Lock her in her room. She needs to get a good night's rest before her wedding."
"Yes your majesty."
(Back to present) She wiped a tear as she continued on. She had never been fond of her parents, but her riches and grandmother had kept her happy at least. Until now. She realized that she was missing something. She didn't know for sure what it was though. And through her entire life, she felt as if her grandmother was the only family member of hers who actually loved her. And when she was banished, Red's happiness in life just kind of vanished.
"Here she is!"
Red turned her head. Two guards were racing towards her. She pulled the hoodie of her red cloak more over her face as if the fabric could make her disappear. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to happen.
Suddenly, she tripped. Her speed had a great affect on her landing. She roughly rolled multiple feet before stopping. As she tried to quickly stand again, one of the guards grabbed onto her wrist. "You're coming with us Princess."
Red used her free hand to attempt to punch him, but the other guard gripped onto her hand before she could strike.
Now she just had to face it. She would never truly be free. She shouldn't have let her hopes up. Red slumped to the ground in defeat. The guards pulled on her wrists in attempt to get her to walk, but she just ended up getting dragged like a child. But that's how everyone saw her here. It was infuriating. But Red was too defeated and hopeless to be angry.
"Let her go." A deep and determined voice threatened, "Or else."
Red looked up and saw.. Jack? She gaped. She had always thought that her childhood crush hated her! She hadn't seen him in three years. He was far more attractive and built than the last time she'd seen him.
"Or else what? You can threaten us all you want. You aren't going to get her from us." One of the guards scoffed. Red's eyebrows raised when she saw him grab the handle of his ax strapped to his back and point it in their directions, "Let's just say that you don't want to find out."
The guards looked at one another. They hadn't expected a fight. They just thought they'd retrieve Red and return. So they had left their weapons at the castle. Sure they were strong and trained for things like this, but going against a guy just as strong with an ax wasn't exactly a good idea.
Jack stepped forwards and both guards put their hands in the air. Red was free once again!
"Run!" Jack screamed. Red nodded and quickly did so. One of the guards yelled, "We can't let her get away! We need more guards with weapons!"
Jack ran after her. He put his ax back in its place. He caught up to Red fast. She panted beside him, "Why did... you... save me?"
He turned to look at her, "Save your breath. I'll explain later. Now we just need to get you somewhere safe."
Red nodded. She had no idea how he was so fit. He wasn't even out of breath yet!
After several minutes of running, they hid inside the walls of a small abandon building. Red panted, "Do you think.. they're gone?"
Jack peered through a small hole in the wall, "I think so.. for now." He turned back to her, "What do you have with you?" He asked. Red blinked, "All I brought was the clothes on my body, some food, and water." She pulled a basket out from under her cloak.
Jack narrowed his eyes. "Tear your nightgown from the knees down."
"Why?"
"Just do as I say."
Red tried not to let her disappointment show as she tore her favorite pajama dress in half.
Jack poured some of Red's water on the dirty ground. Red sure hoped he knew what he was doing. He looked up at her, "Please don't hate me."
"Why would-" She began to ask, but screeched as he threw the mud on her already ruined dress. Jack's eyes widened and he covered her mouth and grabbed the back of her neck. Now her face and neck were stained with mud as well. She struggled against his grasp, but stayed where she was. He whispered, "We can't risk you getting caught, so you need to be quiet. Do you understand me?"
She nodded slowly. He nodded back and removed his hands. He picked up more dirt, "Don't scream this time please."
She nodded and closed her eyes as he put more mud all over her dress.
When she opened her eyes she saw his shirt removed. She covered her mouth to stop from making some noise. He looked up at her face. Now it was the same color as her name. He scoffed and dipped his shirt in the mud. "I need a disguise too." He stood back up and put his shirt back on. Red tried to hide her disappointment.
He put some on his jeans as well.
He looked up at her, "Put your cloak in your basket."
She obeyed. They heard footsteps and voices approaching. Red recognized her father's voice. She could only make out a few of the words he said, "Red..stupid...find....before...wedding." She and Jack shared a shocked glance. He quickly grabbed onto her and pushed her to the dark corner of the house. They were close and audible now, "I'll search this dump." A man said.
Jack pressed her closer to the corner and pressed himself against her to cover her from being seen. Red blushed. They were so close. Close enough to kiss if she wanted to. She looked up at his face as he panted and glanced over his shoulder. He wrapped his arms protectively around Red. Both of their hearts were pounding. Red whispered, "Jack?"
He looked at her waiting for her to continue. She sheepishly looked down, "In case anything happens, I just wanted to thank you and tell you that I love you."
Jack blinked and smiled slightly.
"Hey! You there!"
Jack flinched and looked over his shoulder. A guard was approaching. They had been caught.
"Free the princess before I kill you!"
Jack quickly turned to Red and gave her a short, but meaningful kiss. Red felt as if she was flying.
He pulled away, "Wish me luck." He drew his ax.
