Skeptical.
That's what we are when someone tells us something crazy. That's what I am when you expect me to believe you.
I wanted to leave and go home, but a certain red head, was trying to convince me that punching some kid was more important than meeting with me. I mentally rolled my eyes and wrote somethings down as he rambled. After a few minutes I lost my patience.
"Look, Vince." I said as he smiled cockily. "I honestly don't care about your excuses and lame reasons for skipping out." He frowned as he looked at me.
"You missed a meet and that's not okay. Especially if it was just to bully another student." I seethed and wrote him a note. He glared as he took it and walked out of the room with a huff.
Once the door closed I sighed in exasperation and rubbed my face. After a moment I quickly signed out of everything and gathered my things. Stuffing everything into my back pack and quickly getting out of there. As I opened the door I froze. Standing just outside the door was the Principal.
"Miss Jenkins." He said seriously. "Too many of your students are not being responsible and keeping their appointments with you."
"With all due respect, that's not my fault sir." I said just as serious. He narrowed his eyes and folded his arms.
"If you don't figure something out soon, I'll have to release you, due to the lack of progress." He muttered and walked away. I stood there for a few minutes then clenched my fists tightly.
"Who spit in his coffee?" I mumbled under my breath before walking away.
After getting to the house I glared at the other car. My roommates crazy boyfriend was here, again. He must have been abducted by aliens, because he's convinced they're all over the place.
I sighed in exasperation and walked into the house. Ellie was sitting on the couch with him as he showed her pictures of something. Probably an alien he saw. I glanced at it and smirked slightly.
"The predator was a movie Don." I scoffed and he glared at me.
"Says you!" He yelled as I walked to the other room to get something to eat. "What if it was a documentary? Then what?" He sneered. I looked back into the room eyes wide and full of mock surprise.
"Oh my goodness you're right! Then that would mean Aliens is real, and Star Trek. That means we're stuck in some twisted world were timelines don't make sense! And only a few of us actually live in the future!" I inhaled dramatically and disappeared again. He blinked a couple times with confusion.
"Don't be rude Winter." Ellie snapped. "He's right about aliens being around here. He says there are even some in Jasper." She said as she smiled at him. I didn't respond as I rolled my eyes again.
"Oh come on I can prove it." Don said as he got up and walked into the kitchen. I gave him a look that said to get lost. He ignored me and started pulling up some pictures he had taken.
"Look at this alien." He muttered as he pulled one up.
"Thats a hamster." I smirked and went back to cooking.
"What? No look at this. I believe there are giant alien robots in Jasper, or they're from the government." He said seriously as he showed me a blurry picture.
"Bigfoot." I mumbled as he glared. I honestly couldn't tell what it was, it wasn't focused at all.
"Seriously Win." I glared at the nickname. "There are giant alien robots in Jasper. I've seen them. They're hard to find-"
"I'm sorry what?" I interrupted. He looked at me with confusion. "You're telling me that there are giant alien robots, but no one ever sees them?" He was quiet and I couldn't help but snicker.
"Do you know how unbelievable that sounds?" I asked as Ellie walked in. "If they even existed, where would they be hiding where no one can find them?" He thought about it and frowned. It was a good point.
"I don't know... somewhere out of town... in the desert..." he was starting to doubt this himself.
"Right. I'm sure they're hiding in the desert under a rock." I mumbled under my breath and continued cooking. "It's just not realistic or practical." I said dismissing the conversation. He glared at me then deleted the photos of the robots before going back to the couch.
"Great job Winter." Ellie muttered. "You upset him and hurt his feelings." She glared and walked out to sit with him.
"Somethings are just not that easy to believe. Especially when it doesn't make any sense." I said to myself. He needed to understand, not everything is real anyway.
~
At school the next day I went around finding my students and trying to save my job. If it came to it, I was going to drag them out of class. I worked hard to get this job, I wasn't about to lose it because of some teens. As the day progressed I was able to get most of my students to come to my office. The exception being Vince and a few of his friends.
I ended the day with talking to Miko. The teen seemed absolutely bored out of her mind. School was almost over and the girl kept saying how boring Jasper was and how boring school was. I just listened quietly. I figured if I listened and showed her I cared, which I did, then she would in turn care about what I had to say.
Hopefully.
When she was done talking, it was a half hour after school got out. She quickly left and I was stuck filling out paperwork. After a few more hours I was finally able to leave and go home. Unfortunately the Principal wanted to know how things were going.
Afterwards I was finally free and headed out. I stopped as I noticed two purple cars drive close together down the street. I shook my head and headed back home. This day was pretty stressful. There was no way it could possibly get worse.
