The Surge

Kaylee's POV

I wake up to sounds of drawers closing, I rub my eyes sleepily, realizing that I wasn't in my room at Master Wu's Academy, but instead Lloyd's. I rub my eyes sleepily, realizing that last night, we had a movie night. But that doesn't explain why I was in his bed. (NO THEY DID NOT DO THE DIRTY)

"Lloyd? OH SHIT GET A SHIRT ON!" I look at my boyfriend, who at the moment, was shirtless. I blush, red filling my face like a tomato.

"You like it" He sits next to me, bringing me in with a hug.

"No! I! Don't!" I huff.

"You just can't admit it." He ruffles my hair.

"You've been working out," I comment, looking at his eyes.

"You've noticed huh?" I sigh, pushing him a bit away.

"Get a shirt on and tell me why I'm in your room." I sigh, while Lloyd Spinjitzu's into his golden gi. "Awards?" I ask.

"Yep." He sighs, then goes and sits next to me, cuddling. "Why can't you be there?" He whines.

"Because you're the more popular one silly. Now answer my question. Why am I in your bed?"

"You were already sleeping when the movie finished. I didn't want to wake you up."

"That isn't an excuse. You know I'd not care."

"Fine. I had nightmares, about you dying, so, I just wanted you to be here, so I'd knew you'd be safe from him." Lloyd huffs, and I look at him.

"Why didn't you tell me the nightmares were coming back?" I murmur.

"Because I was afraid." Lloyd sighs. Lloyd had been having nightmares since the battles, about The Overlord winning. I didn't know that I'd died in one of those dreams.

"Every time, every time I had that stupid nightmare, I see him stabbing a sword through you, and you dying. But I couldn't do anything to save you." I feel soft tears landing on my head.

"Hey, it's okay. I'm here and nothing going to take me away from you." I say. Lloyd then feels around my neck, finding my pulse, then he put his head down on it, softly listening to my pulse. He steps away, not before kissing me.

"I have to go now."

"Aww, okay." We share an embrace before Lloyd walks out of the door. I sigh, flopping back on the bed before walking out. I quickly change and start the new day.

~Time Skip~

"Are you excited!" Nya asks. It was recess, and I was just walking to the teacher's lounge.

"For what?" I ask.

"We got a field trip to Borg Industries!" Nya cheers.

"Awesome!" I cheer, but 2 boys start following us, and we quickly walk in the teacher's lounge, shutting the door behind us.

"Hi, Miss Kaylee. I like your dress, Miss Nya."

"Why is that when I teach, I get the feeling that none of the boys are listening?" Nya sighs.

"Hi, Miss Nya. I saved you some pudding." Jay sighs dreamily.

"What did we talk about?" Nya dryly snaps.

"Oh, right. Boundaries." Jay chuckles nervously. I honestly don't know why they broke up in the first place, but no matter what, I'm getting them back together.

"Hey, did you guys hear the news?" I ask.

"There's trouble?" Kai asks.

"Danger?" Jay leaves his pudding on the couch.

"An emergency?" Zane goes in a fighting stance.

"Oh, a new menace?" Cole does a backflip.

"No. We got clearance for a field trip weirdos." I finish. Everyone groans.

"Not just any field trip. A field trip to tour Borg Industries!" Nya adds.

"Ah! Not the Borg Industries. As in home to super-genius reclusive savant Cyrus Borg? Inventor of the hovercar and everything else cool in this world?" Jay fangirls, but groans after Zane kicks him.

"Who cares about Cyrus Borg? If you ask me, people should concern themselves with the lessons of the past. Not waste their time on the disposable fads of tomorrow when-" We leave quickly, leaving Kai alone.

"Why can't we take Ultra Dragon? Or the Ultra Sonic Raider?" Brad whines.

"Because they don't have one of these. Pretty cool, huh? I'm on a microphone. I am the MC. The Mighty Cole." Cole does a weird dance thing and I snatch the microphone away from him.

"Because Ultra and The Ultra Sonic Raider can't fit all of you. Also, the school board would have a fit about it."

"Mr. Cole is the worst," Brad mutters.

"I heard that." Cole takes the microphone away from me and takes a seat.

"So we really are going back to the city. We haven't been there since-well, you know." Kai sighs.

"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We only have today. Or else this offer expires. Get a move on, Nya." Sensei orders.

"Aye, aye, Sensei." The bus drives away, and before we know it, we're in the city.

"Welcome to New Ninjago City. The future is what we make it." A Cyrus Borg on a TV screen says.

"Wow. You leave town a short while and-Ahh!" Nya accidentally crashes into a car, which coincidentally was the Postman.

"Ugh! Who here still uses wheels anymore? Get with the program!" He angrily yells.

"Don't worry, we'll free you up. Time for some old-school muscle tool." Cole smiles, but a robot appears next to him.

"Stand back, pedestrian." It orders.

"Who you calling pedestrian?" Cole snaps.

"It appears our help is not welcome." Zane notices.

"Well, I prefer traveling the old-fashioned way-on foot. Besides, it's not like we can't find where we're going." Sensei walks up to Borg Industries, as me and Nya herd the children inside.

"Welcome to Borg Industries. I'm P.I.X.A.L., Cyrus' Primary Interactive X-ternal Assistant Life-form. I'm sorry to hear about the traffic accident." Pixal says, walking down the stairs to greet us.

"Wow, news travels fast." Cole compliments.

"Everything in New Ninjago City is fully automated and interconnected. Your antiquated bus should be ready shortly. You are Zane, a droid like me. What does Zane stand for?" Pixal steps up to Zane.

"I stand for peace, freedom, and courage in the face of all who threaten Ninjago," Zane says.

"She means your name, tin head." Jay snickers.

"I guess I'm just Zane." Zane sheepishly shrugs.

"Permission to scan?" Pixal asks.

"Uh . . . Permission granted?" Zane says.

"Ha, check it out. Zane has an admirer." I whisper to Nya.

"Your hardware is outdated and your processor is slow and incompatible with ours. Peculiar. All droids must recharge our batteries, yet curiously. I'm unable to locate your energy source. What powers you?" Pixal asks.

"I, uh . . . I don't know." Zane admits.

"Mr. Borg would like to see the 4 Ninja on the 100th floor. If the others would follow me for the rest of the tour." Pixal informs and I wave and leave with the kids, for the tour.

"Mr. Borg believes technology is the key to making our dreams come true," Pixal informs, bringing us into a room. The students gasp.

"Whoa! Cool beyond cool." Brad gushes.

"Awesome," Toby says.

"Uber-mega. I'm, like, wow!" Brad stares at the screen where a tester was playing a game

"Even now, he is working on a Digiverse where the gamer will be digitally scanned in to take gaming to another level." Pixal lets us explore the place.

"Hey. This is cool right." I smile at her.

"It is normal for me." She replies.

"I guess. It's nice meeting you. I'm Kaylee." I hold out a hand. She accepts it and we shake.

"I believe you know my name is Pixal," Pixal says.

"Yup!" I smile, as Sally ran over to me.

"They have a Perfect Match Console Ms. Kaylee!" She excitedly says, pulling me towards the machine. I smile at Pixal who returns it. I think we're going to be good friends.

"What's Perfect Match?" Nya asks.

"It's the latest craze. It finds your perfect partner with flawless results. You should try it, Miss Nya and Miss Kaylee." Sally answers.

"I doubt a machine could know someone's perfect match." Nya rolls her eyes.

"I guess I'll try." I step on the machine.

"Hello, Kaylee. You are a kind, independent, confident girl, who puts her friends and family's lives before her. Analyzing match now." The computer says.

"It's gonna be Mr. Lloyd. You two are so in love." Starla exclaims. Lloyd's face turns up on the screen. I blush slightly, thinking about this morning. I make way for Nya, who steps on the podium.

"Hello, Nya. You are an independent, self-confident young woman who refuses to be in a boys' club. Analyzing match now."

"Of course it's gonna be Mr. Jay." Marla, twin sister of Starla exclaims, but a hologram of Cole appears. We all gasp.

"Promise you will not tell anyone," Nya says and we all nod, as Pixal continued our tour, into the factory line.

"And this factory line where-This is will be the end of your tour," Pixal says, her green eyes turning red.

"Why do people love turning evil." I sigh, noticing the robots starting to try to kill us all.

"Stay back and stay together!" Nya yells, attacking the robots. I blast them with my magic.

"This way. There's a way out!" Brad yells as the kids run over to an exit, only to be blocked by more robots.

"No! Do not break formation! Why don't boys ever listen to me?" Nya sighs, as she goes and saves the kids.

"Cool!" They yell.

"Run! Jump and kick!" I whisper under my breath, attempting to destroy most of the evil robots.

"Everyone get to the window!" Sensei yells.

"Whoa!" The students start to roll into a garbage destroyer.

"How do we stop it?" Nya asks. But the guys shoot the window and the control panel, stopping the destroyer. I quickly help the kids out.

"Kaylee! New gi!" Jay throws a new gi at me, and I Spinjitzu into it, jumping on the ship.

"Come on, she's one of them. We have to go!" Nya yells, jumping on the ship, and Zane flies off, dropping the kids and Nya on the bus.

"Get to the academy as fast as you can, sis. We need the Golden Ninja." Kai orders.

"What about you guys?" Nya asks.

"We must protect the people," Sensei says. People start screaming as another evil robot starts to shoot at us.

"I'm on it. Ninja, go! No one calls me pedestrian!" Cole destroyed the robot.

"I always said Mr. Cole was my favorite." Brad cheers, along with other students.

"Alright, so these Techno Blades can hack into their systems," Kai informs us, huddling in a circle.

"So, what do you say we do a little hack-attack?" Cole grins.

"Zane, Kai, Kaylee, you take to the skies. I want Cole and Jay on the ground. And I'll do what I can for the people." Sensei orders.

"Heh-heh! Anyone else feeling all tingly inside?" Cole exclaims.

"Ninja, go!" We yell as I push up, flying, and helping the people against evil robots. An earpiece in my ear starts talking.

"So you've figured out how the Techno Blades work." Cyrus Borg says. "You must know, they are far, far more important than you think. This is a prerecorded message, but I can tell you that a few weeks ago, we discovered a virus laying dormant in our system. The Overlord." I gasp. "You have to get the Techno Blades out of the city. Because once he knows you have them, he'll never let you leave. I've also given you new outfits to help block the facial recognition software. Had I known this would happen, I would never have built where the Overlord was destroyed. Goodbye, Ninja, and good luck."

"Can you guys handle that?" Kai asks.

"On it!" I yell, blasting another robot.

"We have to get the Techno Blades out of the city." Kai orders.

"But what about Sensei? We can't leave without him." Zane says.

"There! I'll pick him up and meet you guys at the intersection of Wilfert and Fleming. I can't find a place to land!" Kai yells, and I rush over to him, landing next to them, fighting.

"There's too many! We'll never get out!" Cole yells.

"Keep fighting. They'll have to run out of batteries at some point." Kai yells.

"Well, I'm not so sure about that," Zane says, but a blast of golden light interrupts him as the robots die down. We start cheering.

"Robots versus Ninja? Heh. Dare I ask?" Lloyd smirks.

"All right!" Cole cheers.

"You are a sight for sore eyes." Kai smiles.

"So you couldn't help yourself. The Golden Ninja, we meet again." The Overlord turns up on the screen. Lloyd gasps, pulling me behind me protectively.

"Overlord. I defeated you once, I'll defeat you again." He declares.

"Oh, I don't want to fight. I just want your power." Overlord yells, and the robots start again, this time more powerful than before.

"No, Lloyd, your power is only making them stronger." Sensei stops Lloyd from using his powers.

"But how do we fight?" Lloyd asks.

"We don't. We need to get you and the Techno Blades out of the city." Kai says.

"I don't think he'll let us leave," I comment.

"I have an idea, but I don't have much time to explain. Listen close." Sensei tells us the plan.

"Ninja, go!" We yell, getting into our vehicles or summoning our dragon, or in my case, flying. The Silver Dragon takes to much of my energy, and I haven't been practicing.

"I hope this works," Kai says.

"At 4.2 percent chance of success, I'd say our hope is slim," Zane replies.

"That's why it's called hope, Zane." Jay snaps.

"Alright boys, I'm reaching the end of the city, and I'm-SHIT" I yell painfully, as one of the robots shot at my stomach, making me fall, dizzy.

"Kaylee! What's going on?" Kai yells.

"She got hit! I'm grabbing her now!" I faintly see gold, before Lloyd catches me.

"You're safe now" He murmurs, brushing my hair to one side.

"You were right then. Heh." I whisper.

"Okay, I need you to heal yourself okay?"

"On it." I quickly close up the wound, but the tiredness still takes over me, I fight to stay awake.

"Is Kaylee okay?" Zane asks.

"Yeah, I am. Where's Sensei?" I ask, sleepy.

"We have to go back for him!" Lloyd yells.

"We will, but only when you are safe," Kai says.

"He wants these weapons, and for some reason, he also wants you. Remember, this was Sensei's plan. They can't break him." Cole reasons.

"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has yet to come. We need to worry about today." Zane says.

"You said it, Zane," Jay says.

"We will come back to New Ninjago City. And when we do we'll be ready." Zane finishes.

"But for now, we find someplace safe to hide. They'll be looking for us." Kai says, and I fade to black.

Awesome. So this is the beginning of the second book! I hope you liked it :)
