Chapter 6 A simple Trip

It was a quiet ride, the operators were resting from the mission and I was dealing with maintenance on the last hope. I sent the dropship I flew back to The Last Hope so I wouldn't have to fly it everywhere I go. I can always call it in when I need it.

The helicopter flew for about an hour before landing at an airport. Glaz told me to follow them to the plane that will take us back to their base. I asked where their base was and he said it was in England. I just nodded my head and didn't question it further.

It was a twin-engine jet. I doubt they could haul cargo with it, so six may have other aircraft in her fleet. The team was more talkative this time. Ash and IQ are chatting about how the mission went and what they'll be doing when they get back to base. Dokkaebi had a tablet device plugged in and was toying with it. Twitch and Glaz were talking about the accuracy of her rifle and if she needed to adjust what range it was set for. I was just relaxing in one of the seats listening to music from my helmet.

"Hey Pilot, where are you from?" Dokkaebi asked. She must have gotten bored with her game. Stopping my music I answer her. "Abkasia. It's a small place only 40 or 50 of us live there." I replied Dokkaebi nodded her head and was going to ask more, but the pilot of the plane told us that we were going to land and to get our seatbelts on.

I did so and thought about my planet. Abkasia was a frontier planet late into the war. Around 10 million people lived on it when war broke out. We were spared most of the combat as we had no known resources at the time. It was a beautiful planet before the IMC arrived, and death to them.

Shaking those thoughts from my head so I could meet Six with my emotions in check I prepared for landing. If you're ever going to meet someone, clear your head of any emotional thoughts. Speak softly and carry a big stick. Remember that one day these people may be your friend or enemy. It's up to you to decide how they see you.

Those were the words many have said throughout history. I merely put them together. The plane touched down and came to a stop on the concrete where another helicopter awaited us. I followed the others onto it and looked out the window at the passing scenery. It was a short 10-minute flight.

When we got to their base Dokkaebi nugged me. "Welcome to Hereford base. When we land follow me to Six." I nodded at her and I think I saw a jealous look on IQ's face. She must be eager to meet the stranger. I simply patted her shoulder as I walked past on my way to meet this Six.
