season one, episode four-five.

The sky gradually dimmed as the duo sauntered along the never-ending sidewalk. When Carmen (Miguel's mom) had agreed to dinner with the Cervantes, the two decided to join one another in a pleasant walk. Francisca's house wasn't too far so they would only need to chat for a little, which they had, until their conversation came to an end. So far, it had only been an exchange of amiable glances. Neither of them was eager to intrude on the silence, seeing as it brought peace to their walk.

"You know, I should warn you. My family can be... intense," Francisca wore an uneasy smile. It wasn't particularly a lie, she just needed it to go well. Miguel and her family wouldn't necessarily be the issue; it was just something that Francisca felt had to go her way. More than that if we're being completely candid. The dinner needed to be perfect.

It couldn't be that difficult.

Miguel tilted his head and raised an eyebrow at the adolescent's statement. He maintained his normal walking pace, pondering whether he should convey a playful retort. "Okay, I can deal with intense. But my question is, are they as intense as you?"

Francisca faltered her steps and scoffed, jokingly punching his arm, causing the boy to chuckle and halt his movements. "I am not intense!" She exclaimed. The brunette placed her hands on her hips, a typical stance she often took, which the Latino found rather laughable.

Miguel formed a large smile, unable to keep his emotions to himself. He could not determine what this particular feeling was but was definitive that Francisca shared it as well. This occurred during most of their conversations but lately, it became overwhelming, almost to the point as if it were going to explode like a bomb.

A bomb of... contentment? No, that couldn't be it.

He gave her a pointed look and hummed. "Well... either way, I'm right." Shrugging, the boy started up his steps on the pavement. Francisca followed after him, narrowing her eyes as he shed a sprinkle of his newfound confidence, most likely due to the karate classes he had been pursuing. She smiled. "Oh, are you now?" Questioned the Cervantes.

"Yes, I am. You always have this certain look on your face when you try to solve a problem or if something's bothering you." Miguel chuckled. "Like that day when Demetri made a comment about my karate dojo and you said he shouldn't judge as someone who has experience with the sport, which, by the way, I never knew you did karate?"

Curiosity stirred in the female adolescent as Miguel spoke interestingly and compellingly while the desperate emotion overwhelmed her thoughts like an open wound, begging to bleed out. "You remember that?" Francisca inquired, earning a nod from him. "Of course I do," He laughed with a perplexed expression scattered on his face, almost baffled that Francisca would even question it.

"I'm pretty sure I've never forgotten anything you've ever said. N— Not like that, I just mean... Shit." Miguel stumbled over his words in defeat, unable to redeem himself from embarrassment in front of Francisca once again. He seemed to think the universe had a raging vendetta against him, seeing as the only emotions he ever felt when communicating with her were embarrassment, anxiety, and most of the time, happiness.

His mind raced with various sentiments, causing him to turn away as a piping-hot, unfamiliar sensation emerged on his now pink and rosy cheeks. Incapable of concealing her light smile, Francisca allowed an uneasy feeling to materialize. She, too, avoided meeting his gaze.

"Sorry," Explained Miguel. "It's okay. ━━ Now, back to the 'intense' discussion," Becoming at ease, given their current situation, the Diaz boy playfully rolled his eyes. "You're never letting that go are you?"

"Not a chance."

Dinner at the Cervantes household went quite well despite one of the younger siblings known as Jackeline, flashing him daggering eyes. By the end of the night, he couldn't exactly determine whether she liked him or at the very least, tolerated him. Partially because she proceeded to drill him with rather detailed questions throughout the night. Nevertheless, it was considered great, all things considered.

With that, Miguel began to chat with Francisca more frequently. To be completely honest, he spent almost every waking moment over the next few days texting or calling her when they weren't together in person. He learned many of her interests, and she, in turn, discovered his. He attempted to try out a few of her hobbies to see if he could understand them from Francisca's perspective.

The two grew closer as described, which is something his mother particularly noticed as the days went on. She let it occur, not wanting to pry, considering how most teenagers acted nowadays. Carmen saw a smile curl onto her son's lips whilst he sat at the kitchen table, eating his breakfast.

"You should invite Francisca over for dinner sometime. I'd like to finally meet her." Carmen softly suggested as she proceeded to fold the laundry and place it into the basket. Miguel diverted his attention to his parental figure with an awkward grin. His eyes widened. "Could we?"

The curly-haired woman nodded, noticing the adolescent's rapid presentation of hope. It was nice to see her son excited about something. Nobody would expect this but Miguel often had trouble with being cheerful, particularly because of his absent father. But also, moving around has been a difficult challenge for him. ━━ Let's just say she was glad to see he was finally fitting in.

"Of course, she seems like a very nice girl," Offered the curly head. The younger Diaz whispered a quick word of agreement and hesitated a moment before lowering his head toward his phone. As he opened the messages app and nearly clicked on Francisca's contact, a text fell from the top of his screen, forcefully gathering his attention.

As foreseen, Samantha LaRusso spent nearly the entire school day treated terribly. No one dared to step within her personal space or sit beside her during class because of course, like any typical teenage issue, her ex-boyfriend spread foolish rumors to destroy her life. Fundamentally, the poor girl's current situation merely existed because of an ego higher than the Eiffel Tower.

Both Tessa and Francisca had been informed by Alison that the two started communicating a bit more than usual after the library incident. The blonde responded to the girl's emotions and allowed her to talk about the feelings that weighed heavily.

Sam managed to open up to the blonde of her now ex-boyfriend, immediately apologizing for his childish actions. Neither of the two high schoolers could stand to face Kyler daily as he continued to spread the rumor about Sam giving him a blow-job in a movie theater when in reality, he'd been the one to initiate all types of physical intimacy.

And yet here stood Kyler Park, unfortunately, alive and well. He merrily sat at his lunch table which appeared to contain loads of students gathered around it. Half of the usual friend group, or more likely, the females, studied his cheery demeanor. The irrational boy did not come off as fazed whatsoever, somehow enjoying chatter with the rest of his possibly ludicrous friends.

Francisca diverted her attention from the teen to a brunette with luscious waves, quietly hovering over the cafeteria tables as she searched for a place to sit. "Ali, we should invite her over," Suggested Francisca. Alison looked behind her and noticed her uneasy behavior. "I feel bad. What type of person could do this?" Tessa asked as she caught a brief glimpse of Samantha.

"Assholes. That's who," Alison stated harshly while waving in Sam's eyeline, gesturing for her to approach. The LaRusso took her queue and hesitantly pursued the lunch table, unable to bypass any bizarre glares coming her way. "Hi," Samantha greeted kindly. She offered them a soft smile before taking a seat next to Tessa.

Examining her features, Tessa noticed her silence. She believed it would be best to ease the tension between the group by asking a simple question, even if it wasn't particularly a clever one. "How are you doing?" Gaining a mere shrug from Samantha, the Coleman quickly faced the duo beside them. "I'm sorry, Sam. I wish there was something we could do to help blow this situation over. — Sorry, bad choice of words. I should stop talking now."

Fortunately, the witty joke from the Cervantes achieved a light chuckle from the girl. She picked at her lunch tray. "It's fine, I just wish everyone didn't always believe everything so quickly. Like, it wouldn't kill you to think there's another side to every story, you know?" A sigh fell from her lips. "Maybe I'm just being dramatic."

"Don't do that. Don't let Kyler walk all over you. He's a dick, almost everyone knows that. Someone just needs to stand up to him." Alison confidently explained. Per usual, the blonde's typical protective manner was demonstrated. Despite not being primarily close to Sam, she was not going to permit Kyler, of all people, to spread rumors about a person she cared deeply about.

Samantha contemplated her words, debating whether it would be the right decision to stand up for herself. Her thoughts were interrupted by another student grabbing her attention to imitate a sucking motion. This was just becoming incredibly unbearable and childish, but the only way for it to stop would be to talk to Kyler. Cringing at the motion, Sam quickly huffed and stood up from the table.

Plastering a panicked expression on her face, Francisca turned to her best friend who currently wore a proud grin. She muttered a few words of reassurance to both brunettes and they carefully sat back, watching the scene in front of them. It displayed quietly until the cafeteria's attention was gathered by the sound of a tray falling to the floor.

"Hey, guys." Kyler publicly announced. "You know that billboard with a big-ass dick on it? I guess Sam takes after her dad." Laughter ran across the room as their eyes widened by the bully's choice of words. Alison rolled her eyes, delivering daggers toward Kyler and his friends. Receiving a tap on her shoulder, the Scott adolescent shot her head toward the action. Unbeknownst to Tessa and Francisca, the other half of their friend group had entered the lunchroom with trays in their grasp.

Miguel gave her a knowing look as an indication, proposing they take matters into their own hands. Alison nodded and motioned toward the front with the implication that he should approach. He granted her a nod and hindered his path to beside the table, shouting Kyler's name as he slammed his lunch tray down. It captured the attention of Francisca Cervantes, the one person who withheld him from infiltrating into trouble.

Browsing the taller boy's figure, Miguel scoffed. "Why don't you shut the hell up and stop being such an asshole?" Students in the room began to murmur whilst carefully inspecting the circumstances in the center of the room. Francisca attempted to grab Miguel's arm. "Miguel—" She started before the Asian's words triumphed over hers. "Want another beatdown, 'Rhea?" Kyler threatened as he pushed the Latino into the table.

Tessa immediately noticed both Alison and Aisha taking a stand, cautiously waiting if Miguel needed them to step in at any time. "I'm ready for your lame-ass karate this time." Pushing Miguel harsher against the table, Alison rapidly ran to Aisha's side, presenting to be near when the two initiated their plan. "It's not lame-ass karate," Miguel stated, blocking a punch Kyler threw and countering his move.

"It's Cobra Kai."

While throwing a punch in his face, Kyler immediately fell back. He stumbled into Brucks before charging into the shorter male, hurling him onto the table. The two strained in their physical contact, unable to abstain from creating larger content. Francisca watched as her friend snuck out of the headlock he was trapped in, throwing punches and kicks.

"No mercy!" Aisha roared. Astonished by his moves, the blonde karate student observed their fight and noticed Miguel's quick motions and countermoves. "If you feel like jumping in at any time, I wouldn't mind!" The Diaz grunted, failing to escape from another student's clasp. "Oh, shit. My bad!" Alison reacted before throwing herself into the fight. She dodged every punch and ran after her friend in prominent need of assistance.

The two quickly fought off two others, including the one who trapped Miguel. "Get them!" Another shouted after earning punches and kicks from both of them. Francisca and Tessa supervised their actions, halting to their feet when they started running for the table. Stepping aside, the duo gathered around.

Francisca loomed closer to the table and grabbed an empty lunch tray. Alison and Miguel ran to opposing sides, each fighting their subjective opponents. The Diaz caught the Cervantes and sprinted in terror, rolling off the table empty-handed. Scanning his atmosphere, there were no objects to be found for benefit until Francisca handed him the red object in hand.

"Thanks," Muttered the boy, instantly becoming distracted as Brucks and several others came after him. He manipulated the chairs, the tray, and nearly everything he could seize sight of to utilize them to provide for his struggle. Alison kicked one of the bullies heading in Miguel's direction, earning a tackle from another. She managed to escape, darting toward her friend.

Many students held out their phones in distraction, risking their well-being to record every angle of this outstanding fight. Alison chucked a punch, her eyes witnessing Kyler stand up once more. She shouted the Latino's name, who grabbed her hands. The two combined their skills, flinging one last kick at the teen.

Cheers of amusement enveloped the room, their hands clasping together to exhibit their liking. Samantha LaRusso exhaled and her attention pivoted toward Alison Scott who instantly connected their eyes. The two maintained a strong sense of communication through their gazes, the brunette incapable of proclaiming her gratitude with anything other than eye contact.

Meanwhile, the panting Latino looked for reassurance within Francisca Cervantes. Facing her direction, a smile formed as he noticed she had peeked at him first. Miguel walked up to the girl with a cheeky grin, taking hold of the sense of gratitude and pride in her stare. What he did not identify were the butterflies swarming her stomach. Her heart racing while the uneasy feeling began.

Taking in every part of her, Miguel chuckled. "Thanks for, you know," Francisca giggled, a laugh that usually transpired around this particular boy. "Of course." Whispered the girl, keeping their eyes interlocked. Neither one of them was able to pull their eyes off the other, even when Counselor Blatt marched in due to the chaos and dragged Miguel Diaz and Alison Scott away.

That only increased the overwhelming sensations in her. Francisca understood that deep down, this boy would have a giant influence on her life.

Little did she know...
