Cliff Hangers

Whether your story ends in triumph or tragedy is up to you, but try not to give away the ending to soon. Distract your readers' attention away from the main plot by introducing something called a 'cliffhanger'. When something dramatic happens on your story, change direction - leave the hero or heroine in some kind of terrible danger, such as dangling from the edge of a cliff.

'Deep in the dungeon, the ferocious, three-headed dog approached, with his enormous eyes bulging.

Meanwhile, outside the castle, her pony chewed on a big, juicy apple ...'

This will keep your readers turning the pages to find out what happens in the end.
