Tip Two - Story progression
Mistake: Fast tracking plots
Great! You have written the first few chapters of your new Wattpad novel, you have a brilliant idea in store and you can't wait to start writing. This is often my thought too, when I start a new book I often have an idea for a plot twist at the end, or scenes in the middle of the book, and yes, while these chapters can be the most fun for us authors to write... they are arguably not the most important.
So, what is the most important chapter? If you are writing for an audience, and not just for personal gratification. Then I would argue the first ten chapters are the most vital for gaining views, reads and comments. If your story jumps into love, romance and drama before establishing the plot and developing the characters, people won't stick around. Period.
How to correct this?
Don't fall into the trap of making your plot move too fast!
Story progression is vastly important, people make the mistake of having a massive event, or to many time skips each chapter. Filler chapters, although not always the most fun to write, are arguably the most important factor in a successful story. Without a filler chapter, with, for example, simple moments with family, or everyday activities.... the story will progress too fast. Readers don't want this. They want a realistic timeline.
Try adding some more filler chapters if your plot is moving too fast :)
