Nine

I let out a breath. Tears were slipping down my face. My head was pounding. My heart was pounding like a drum. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't unsee what happened. How did I not know? I knew the wind was storming. I knew something was going to happen, something horribly bad.

I sit down on a tree root. I couldn't even concentrate. That was so awful. That was terrible. It was like the most horrible nightmare. I'm still trembling.

"You okay?" Jenna asked me.

"No. Definitely not." I shake.

"That was really horrible." Jenna said.

"My heart is still shaking." I say.

How could they do this? How could they disrespect Nature? Nature is a gift. It's our protector. It's our everything. It's food and water. It's shelter and protects us from its own forces. Each element is a gift. Fire, warmth and even clears out dead parts of the forest so new parts can grow. Water flourishes our forests. Air gives us breath and I can hear the wind. Earth is the land we walk on. Nature is life. Each element protects us and gives us everything. I stand up.

"This is our home. We have to defend it." I say.

Jenna blows out of tentacles like a trumpet.
