The smell of soil after the rain

The smell of soil after the rain,

the smell of him drenched in rain-

         were all I wanted,

          were all I needed-

But like the departure of monsoon

he left.

Monsoon keeps coming every year,

And so the nonseasonal rain,

But he has never come...

Nor the smell of the wet soil again.
