----------------------------------------------

Shyness was kind of like social anxiety. Just at a much smaller degree.

Being shy meant being nervous or timid around other people.

[Name] was shy. She was just unable to voice her opinions around others. So far, she was alright with talking to some of her classmates in Class 3-E. Isogai and Kataoka she was alright with; Maehara and Terasaka's gang she tended to avoid, as well as Karma; but if she had to name her closest friend in Class 3-E it would probably be Kayano. The pudding-loving girl was a little too energetic for [Name], but the two got along with their love of sweets.

The [colour]-haired girl stared out the window from her seat in the classroom as she drifted off into space. Koro-sensei prattled on from the front of the classroom, teaching about who-knows-what. Sighing a little, [Name] turned her [colour] eyes to the teaching octopus, trying to listen so that she wasn't missing out on too much of the lesson.

Temporarily not hearing anything, the girl watched as Koro-sensei wiped off the remains of what seemed to be Mathematics from the board and faced the whole class with his signature wide smile. His sulphuric yellow face turned to into a pale pink for a second, then returned to normal.

'Nurufufufu! Time for Science class, everyone!~' the Octopus chuckled, causing [Name] to shudder in slight fear. She turned to her right, where Kayano was situated.

'Kayano ... Is this going to be related to the cocoa he made us bring?'

'Hopefully!' the greenette answered cheerfully. 'Otherwise I don't get why he'd ask us to bring cocoa to school ... Unless he wanted to take it for himself so that he could make himself chocolate!'

[Name] smiled shyly at Kayano's answer, quickly glancing at the pack of cocoa placed neatly on her desk. If Korosensei wasn't going to make them do anything with it, she didn't mind making herself chocolate - she had some practice, albeit not much.

'As I hear some of you whispering, yes - we will be using the cocoa you so kindly brought! For those who don't have any, you might have to share, or I could get you some!' exclaimed the Octopus. 'We will be making chocolate!'

The class erupted in a series of whoops, groans and sighs. Kayano was ecstatic to be able to make chocolate at school, shaking [Name]'s hands with enthusiasm. The shy girl was also happy, though she kept her cheerfulness inside, only allowing a small smile to form on her lips.

'Now now, class!~' Korosensei chuckled. 'I know you're excited for this, but I have some more information to tell you before you can start!'

The class fell silent, listening eagerly to what Korosensei had to say.

'First! We will be working on this "experiment" with a partner!' - [Name] turned to Kayano, and she nodded - 'However! I will be choosing the partners!'

The class groaned - Korosensei choosing their partners obviously meant that he was going to be matchmaking them.

The Octopus teacher began to read out names. 'Kayano and Nagisa!' - Kayano turned to [Name] and grimaced slightly, pale pink dusting her face - 'Okano and Maehara! Isogai and Kataoka!' Korosensei listed off a couple more names, [Name] not really paying attention as the groups were announced. She listened half-heartedly to hear her name, sighing slightly in relief as Karma was placed with an unfamiliar name - she didn't know if she could handle Karma's personality. A couple more names were called - Okajima was put with Kurahashi, and Hayami with Chiba - and then it was time for the [colour] haired girl's name to be called.

'Itona and [Name]!'

[Name] almost groaned when Korosensei called her name with Horibe Itona. She hardly talked to the platinum-white haired boy, and all she knew about him was that he was slightly perverted, liked sweet foods, was good with electronics, and was, simply put, brutally honest. How could she, a shy girl who could hardly speak her own mind, get along with someone who just said what came to mind?

Shaking the doubts from her mind, the [colour] eyed girl decided to try and get along with the electronic-loving boy. Perhaps, after this, she would be able to talk with him more.

'Nurufufufu! The instructions are on the board! Go to your stations with your partner! The pair who makes the best chocolates will be given a prize!~'

Within a matter of seconds, the classroom had been changed into a mini kitchen with a stove for each desk, with all the materials placed neatly next to it. [Name] swept her gaze over the ingredients. Cocoa powder, butter, sugar, milk, powdered sugar, water. They were going to make chocolate using the cocoa method, which was much easier than the cocoa bean method.

Itona moved from his position at his seat to stand next to name, observing the instructions. [Name] noticed that the boy now stood next to her, and opened her mouth to at least attempt to initiate conversation.

'Uh, have you, ah, made chocolate before?' The shy girl mentally slapped herself at her attempt.

'No.' answered Itona. 'And you're very timid.'

[Name] almost laughed at the bluntness of Itona, almost happy that she had been partnered with the honest boy. He just said what he was thinking and didn't bother sugar-coating it. She mumbled a small sorry as she tried to somehow make herself smaller.

'Don't apologise for something you don't need to apologise for.' Itona almost sounded like he was scolding her. [Name] resisted the urge to apologise again and looked around, seeing the pairs beginning to make chocolate. She spoke in a small voice.

'Maybe we should start ... Could you start boiling the water please?' Itona did as she asked, and now water was heating up in a small pot over a low fire. 'Make sure it stays below boiling ...'

Itona noticed that the [colour] haired girl wasn't looking up at the board for the beginning of every step. 'You seem to know what you're doing.'

[Name] looked up from her careful pouring of the cocoa and soft butter in bowl. 'Ah, w-well, I've done this before ...' she mumbled quietly. 'I quite like chocolate ...'

She began to cream the butter and cocoa together, then noticed the platinum-haired boy doing pretty much nothing. 'Um, could you please cream this together? So that I can start sifting the powdered sugar for one of the next steps ...'

Itona grabbed the wooden ladle from the shy girl's hands, lightly brushing them and causing [Name] to slightly stiffen. He started to effortlessly mix the cocoa powder and room-temperature butter. [Name] mumbled a small thanks and started sifting the powdered sugar to eliminate the clumps.

'What do I do to get rid of the lumps?' asked Itona.

'Ah, use a fork or something similar ...' the [colour] eyed girl looked around the table and found a fork, quickly handing it over to Itona.

'Once you've mixed it, put it with the water.' The platinum white-haired boy continued mixing for a little then put it in the water.

'There. What next?' It was somewhat funny that Itona was asking [Name] what to do next instead of simply looking at the board where Korosensei had written the instructions.

'Stir it for a little ... Or you could finish sifting the sugar for me ...' Itona did the latter, eliminating the clumps in the powdered sugar a little slower than [Name].

[Name] stirred the cocoa-butter mixture with the water, making sure that it was hot but not boiling. After a while of this, she poured the now warm mixture into the bowl she used before, then called for Itona.

'Can you mix the sugar with this now? If you took out as many clumps as you could, that is ...' She muttered a small 'sorry' then berated herself for doing so.

'Stop apologising.'

[Name] once again resisted the urge to say 'sorry' again, instead reaching over the desk to grab the milk. She accidentally nudged Itona's arm when she did so, making him jerk from his careful task of mixing the sugar into the cocoa-butter mixture. Powdered sugar spread up and some settled on Itona's face.

The shy girl apologised frantically as Itona let out a small sneeze. She felt her face burn up from both embarrassment and the fact that Itona's sneeze was just too cute to handle.

'S-sorry! I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to - um - are you alright?' [Name] waved her hands around, letting go of the milk carton, and looked for something else to say.

Itona sneezed again. 'I'm fine. Let's just finish making this chocolate.' He returned to the arduous task of mixing the sugar, quickly finishing it due to some of the sugar finishing.

'Now we mix the milk in, right?'

[Name] nodded, taking hold of the milk carton once again. 'I can pour, and you can mix ...'

The electronic-loving boy merely nodded at the suggestion, taking hold of the wooden ladle and getting ready to mix once again.

The [colour] eyed girl started pouring the milk, making sure to wait so that Itona could mix the ingredients together thoroughly. When she thought she had poured enough milk, she began to close the carton again, but Itona stopped her.

'You didn't put enough milk in.' [Name], slightly shocked that the platinum haired boy had been paying enough attention to know how much milk she needed to put in.

'Ah, you're right ...' She continued to pour for a little, stopping when Itona told her to stop. 'Make sure you mix until it's smooth.'

Itona did so, then looked at the small heart-shaped moulds Korosensei had just placed in front of the pair.

[Name] reddened slightly as she caught the reference Korosensei was making when placing the heart-shaped moulds. 'Now we pour into the moulds.'

Itona and [Name] worked together to do so, easily co-ordinating together. Itona's hand brushed over [Name]'s and she stiffened, still unused to the contact. No words were spoken as the two finished pouring the mixture.

Korosensei appeared in front of the pair, giving out a small chuckle as he saw the still-warm chocolate mixture. 'Good job, you two! [Name] can bring it home to harden overnight!~' The mentioned girl nodded as the Octopus covered the chocolate with a film of cling-wrap.

'Now you two can perhaps talk whilst the others finish up!' Korosensei chuckled.

[Name] turned to Itona and stayed quiet, fiddling with her hands.

But maybe, just maybe, he wasn't such a bad person to be around.

《Authors Note》

I'm soorryyyy for this being so late! (by late, I mean around 4 months late). Really I just had a lot of things to do (moving houses, homework, anime, now I'm sick) but I'll try to update more regularly (although I promise you I will fail at that).

You should really thank WaterWolf600 for spamming me to write this.

Can you catch all the Valentine's Day references? Haha I had no Valentine don't worry, but we had our swimming carnival when it was Valentine's Day though, which was kinda funny. (pretty much no school!). Chocolate recipe was pretty much from WikiHow lolol.

And something I was thinking of: just saying, but I can do genderbent (male - female or female - male) characters and Male!Readers.

Requests are still CLOSED.

Might be adding a "Progresses" chapter so that you know I'm not completely dead.
