[1.1] Isogai Yuuma X Reader『Rain & Water』

Pitter-patter.

Rain tumbled in from the sky. It fell, and thus it hit the ground.

Pitter-patter.

The rain made puddles; puddles were stepped on. They grew as more rain fell.

Pitter-patter.

Water; that was what the rain was. Small droplets of Water.

Pitter-patter.

Chemical formula H2O, Water. Two Hydrogen atoms and one Oxygen.

Pitter-patter.

What kept living beings alive? Water.

Pitter-patter.

People said that their were three things that living beings needed to live. Food, Water and Oxygen.

Pitter-patter.

And yet... Why was it that without Water, everything would fall?

Pitter-patter.

Water had Oxygen; Oxygen was needed to breathe.

Pitter-patter.

Water made plants and trees grow; plants and trees bore fruit; fruit was food; food was needed for energy, and for other reasons.

Pitter-patter.

Without Water, the world would fall.

Pitter-patter.

Plants would wither up and die. Food gone.

Pitter-patter.

Plants breathed in Carbon Dioxide, CO2, and breathed out Oxygen. Oxygen gone.

Pitter-patter.

A world without Water would mean a dead world.

Pitter-patter.

Dry, crumbling ground, no life. Everything would have died long ago or be dying.

Pitter-patter.

Water was important. It was what kept life alive.

Pitter-patter.

Rain was Water; humans were seventy percent Water. Oceans were Water.

Pitter-patter.

Rain fell; Rivers rushed; Lakes calmed; Seas rose; Streams trickled. All Water.

Pitter-patter.

If Rain was Water - which kept humans alive - then... Why was it depressing to watch?

Pitter-patter.

'Anazing, isn't it? Water, I mean.'

The Sound of Rain falling stopped. A girl turned around from where she had been, watching the rain fall.

There was someone there.

'A-ah... Yes it is, very.' The girl spoke in a silver, subdued voice. She had not expected someone to be there. Not many people had a hobby like hers watching the rain fall.

'Would you mind if I sat down?' The person - a friendly looking boy with antenna-looking hair - gestured at the seat next to her.

'No, I don't mind.' She was quiet, observing the boy. He was around her age, and...

She felt safe around him. A sense of familiarity, as though there was nothing to worry about.

The boy smiled gratefully and sat down next to her, watching the girl with soft golden eyes.

His smile... Was like the Sun itself.

'What are you doing here, alone?'

Isogai Yuuma, if she remembered correctly. The Ikemen of Class-E.

'I... like to sit alone.'

She had no true reason.

An understanding nod. He wasn't pushing the question. Interesting... Isogai truly was a kind Ikemen.

'Here.' The girl looked up from her thoughts. He was handing her a mug of steaming Hot Chocolate.

'Oh... Thank you.'

She had no choice but to accept it - Isogai already had his own mug and it would be awkward to return a mug to the manager of the cafe.

Putting her hands around the warm mug, the girl felt the warmth enter her body.

'Were you cold?'
'Oh, no, not really...'

Even if she were cold, Isogai was like her source of warmth. She had no reason to be cold.

'What do you find interesting about water?'

What... did she find interesting about water? Isogai had asked her a question, for her own opinion.

The girl was not used to sharing her opinion - she was accustomed to watching and listening from the shadows. Even if she put her hand up, it was not like anyone would care.

'I guess... The fact that it can be like gelatin...'

Why had she answered?

The girl didn't know why. Isogai had asked, so she felt obliged to answer. He was probably one of the only people who bothered to even ask her.

'Really? I didn't know that. How did you find that out?'

He was leading her into a conservation; and yet she didn't feel like it was a trap, like she usually did. The girl didn't even  feel the urge to try and end the conversation - she wanted to keep it going, in fact.

'Well... We did a Science experiment at school where we had to find out how many drops of water a small coin would hold...'

The girl smiled absent mindedly as she remembered the water slowly dripping, reaching an amount of drops on the coin she had not even thought of.

'So how many drops fit?'

She gave a small smile as she thought about the water wobbling around like a jelly...

'Around 30.'

Isogai's eyes lit up, amazed. Just that action of his happiness made the girl want to keep on talking, make him happier.

'It was wobbling like a jelly after around 15...'

If Isogai was happy with her talking so much, then she didn't really mind talking that much around him.

'That's amazing!'

The girl smiled mentally - the grey skies seemed to lighten up when Isogai smiled.

'Did you do anything to do with water?...'

She wanted to listen to him talk - she was a Listener, not a Talker. The girl felt more at ease listening to a voice, an this pleasant voice she wouldn't mind listening to Isogai's voice at all.

'Oh, we learnt about the Water Cycle in class.'

The girl wanted him to keep on talking - his voice was like the warmth of the sun.

'Was it interesting?'

She took a sip from her mug to warm herself up again, and looked down to see the mug half empty.

'Very. Did you know that water is what keeps plant rigid and standing up?'

The girl set the mug aside. The only warmth she needed to have was Isogai's. Everything about him seemed to radiate a soft warm light, and she was attracted towards him.

'No, I didn't. It's quite amazing, the things water does.'

There were many things that water did. The girl was glad to find someone else interested in the things that water did.

'Truly. What do you know about the water cycle?'

Isogai probably already knew everything about the water cycle, and yet he had asked her a question about it. It seemed as though he wanted to talk a little; but he too, wanted to hear the tinkling, soft voice of the girl.

'Oh, I knew about how the rain goes into the ocean then turns into vapour and back...'

Her voice was soft, like snow. It wasn't happy, but nor was it sad. The girl's voice simply had no emotion, but it wasn't emotionless.

'Do you know about the chemical stages?'

Isogai's voice was warm, and friendly. It sounded happy, but it was happiness that spread to others.

'Oh, yes...'

She didn't understand. Yes, she knew quite a lot about water's chemical stages, Chemistry being her favourite subject. What she didn't understand was Isogai's kindness; she simply wasn't accustomed to such kindness.

'Could you tell me about it? We're supposed to learn about it in our next Chemistry lesson, but I'd like to be prepared.'

The girl's cheeks tinted a pale pink. He... wanted her to talk?

'Well, water's liquid state is itself, water. It's gas stage is known as steam or vapour, and it's solid stage is known as ice...'

She continued, giving a short and simple yet deep explanation on the chemical properties of water.

'Oh!'

The girl had cried out a quiet exclamation as she saw the clock behind Isogai signalling the time.

'What is it?'

Isogai tilted his head, intrigued as to why she had stopped when she saw the time.

'I'm really, really sorry but I have to go...'

He gave a friendly, understanding smile.

'It's okay. Would you like to meet here tomorrow, at the same time?'

The girl quickly packed up her things, and stood.

'Yes, I'd love to.'

She turned and left the cafe, and began to navigate the crowded streets.

The girl looked up and smiled.

The grey clouds had gone, and the sun shone once again.

[Authors Note]
Life what have you dooooone?!

Okay so my friend told the guy I  sorta liked (lol I just find some people interesting and annoy them) that I liked him (I didn't even tell her) because she saw me hugging him at the swimming carnival (and our house won cos of me!).

So now it's really awkward to be around him.

Hence why the story was kinda depressing at the start.

Also the fact that I am shorter than everyone except for one person is kinda depressing. I get called a midget now.

Dedicated to Loki-Roki for being one of the first people to vote for this story. Also for being so awesome.

Feel free to request, although I can't guarantee that I'll update it. Just request on the prologue chapter with what you want (can be pretty much literally anything as long as it's related to Anatsu Kyoushitsu).

And I WILL type that chapter later. It's just that I was too lazy to write it at the time.
