Let's Kill Hitler
The Doctor sighed looking at the newspaper his wife had found for the final time before be opened the door and exited the TARDIS to join her, a new coat in a sort of dark green colour on his shoulders. The TARDIS in the middle of a large corn field. The area around them flattened.
A car engine then was able to be heard by both the Time Lords. The Doctor sighed seeing who the Stone had guessed it to be. Amy and Rory. "Stop! Stop!" Amy was heard shouting at Rory from inside the car as the engine stopped, the car coming to a halt in the flattened crop circle.
The Doctor held up the newspaper that had a large headline 'Leadeorth Crop Circle.' He pointed at the newspaper with his free hand. "Seriously?"
"I thought it was quite clever." The Stone shrugged chuckling as she remembered the look on the Doctors face when they saw the crop circle from above, the words 'DoctorStone' written in cursive writing in the field.
"Well, you never answer your phone," Rory replied to the Doctor.
The Stone narrowed her eyes at the Doctor, pointing a finger accusingly at him. "You told me that was Winston bugging you about wanting to use the TARDIS again."
"That wasn't entirely the truth..."
"No really?" She sarcastically replied sending Amy an apologetic look.
"Okay." Amy cut in looking at the Doctor slightly annoyed. "You've had all summer. Have you found her?" She asked as the Stone looked at the other redhead with a saddened expression. "Have you found Melody?"
"Permission?" The Doctor looked at Rory.
"Granted." The Doctor then handed the newspaper to him and hugged Amy. The Stone rubbed the woman's back in sympathy knowing what it was like to lose a child herself, even when she didn't lose her children like the human woman did she still understood her pain.
"You know who she grows up to be, so you know we will find her."
"But you haven't yet."
"Exactly." The Stone slightly smiled. "We haven't yet."
"Hang on." Rory frowned drawing the Time Lords attention away from Amy, even bringing her to curiously glance at her husband who had opened the paper to a page. "What's this bit?"
Amy frowned seeing a straight line going straight through the word 'Doctor'just stopping at the 'O'
"That wasn't us."
The Doctor took the paper off of Rory and started to turn it around trying to find where the line supposedly started where they were standing. He pouted when the Time Lady beside him stole the paper and correctly held it in the right direction first try. Holding it up in the air before she started to hear a slight buzzing which progressed into the sound of a car engine. Slowly bringing the newspaper down a bright red sports car was heading right for them. The four cried out before the Time Lords both dived to one side the Doctor making sure the Stone was with him as Amy and Rory dived to the other. The car skidded and stopped just before it hit the TARDIS before a car door opened and then closed. A figure then stood in front of the Time Lords looking down at them. However, the Doctor was more concerned about his wife until he noticed the presence of someone else. Using his hand to block the sun, the Stone doing the same the figure slightly shifted, blocking the sun to reveal a young woman smirking at them.
"You said he was funny." She looked at the Doctor and then the Stone before slightly frowning. "You never said he was married."
The Doctor frowned slightly not understanding why she looked slightly upset that he was married. "Mels!" Rory exclaimed obviously understanding something that neither Time Lord did.
"What are you doing here?" Amy sighed.
"Following you. What do you think?" She grinned looking at the car.
"Er, where did you get the car?" Rory asked before police sirens could be heard in the distance.
"It's mine." She said as Amy and Rory didn't look like they believed her. "Ish..."
"Oh, Mels, not again."
"You can't keep doing this," Rory said lecturing her like a child. "You're going to end up in prison."
"Sorry. Hello." The Doctor said now standing up, helping the Stone up. "Doctor not following this. Doctor very lost." He pointed to himself and then the Stone. "You never said we were married?"
"Is that the most important thing right now." The Stone sighed.
"Yes!" He exclaimed as if it should be obvious.
"Well if you must know I know we're married." She grinned.
"Of course you know that." He rolled his eyes.
"Is that the phone box?" Mels looked behind the Time Lords bringing them back to the conversation. "The bigger on the inside phone box? Oh, time travel. That's just brilliant. Yeah, I've heard a lot about you two. I'm their best mate."
"Then why don't I know you?" The Doctor frowned. I danced with everyone at the wedding. The women were all brilliant. The men were a bit shy."
The Stone shook her head. "Trust me it wasn't that fun to watch him flail his arms around."
"I do not." He pouted.
"What is that dance you did called?"
"Fine." He pouted.
Mels looked between the two. "I don't do weddings." The sirens began to get louder. "And that's me out of time." She then pulled a gun out pointing it at the Stone. The Doctors eyes widened.
"Mels!" Amy exclaimed while Rory groaned.
"For God's sake!"
"What are you doing?"
"I need out of here, now." They then all looked up hearing a helicopter as well as the sirens now.
The Doctor looked slightly annoyed but he put on a smile not really wanting his wife to be shot (again) today. "Anywhere in particular?"
"Well, let's see." She said slightly smirking. Obviously having already planned this all out. "You've got a time machine, I've got a gun. What the hell. Let's kill Hitler." The Time Lords both swallowed hard.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Stone cried out just managing to duck as Mels shot a bullet right into the TARDIS time rotor.
"You've shot it!" The Doctor exclaimed. "You shot my TARDIS and nearly shot my wife!" He narrowed his eyes at her, anger blaring as he began to growl almost like a dog. "You almost shot my wife."
"It's your fault!" Mels cried out just as the TARDIS jolted.
"How's it my fault?"
"You said guns didn't work in this place. You said we're in a state of temporal grace."
"That was a clever lie, you idiot!" He grumbled making his way over to the Stone and making sure she wasn't hurt. "Anyone could tell that was a clever lie."
The TARDIS jolted once more before finally stopping. The Doctor began to cough slightly before he started to push the Stone towards the doors. "Out, out, out! Everybody out." Amy and Rory did as they were told, following the Time Lady outside while the Doctor grabbed Mel's wrist and pulled her out with him. "Don't breathe the smoke, just get out!" He brought out a red handkerchief and held it over his mouth.
Amy frowned looking around the room with pieces of glass scattered around on the floor, a small desk and some fruit in a bowl. "Where are we?"
"A room."
"What room?" Rory questioned.
"I don't know what room." The Doctor grumbled. "I haven't memorised every room in the universe yet. I had yesterday off. Mels, don't go in there." He said to the woman, pulling her away and shutting the door before taking the gun she had off her.
"Oi."
"Bad smoke. Don't breathe the bad, bad, smoke. Bad, deadly smoke because somebody shot my TARDIS!"
"Doctor." Rory looked up. "This guy, I think he's hurt."
The Doctor frowned unsure of what to do with the gun. For a moment he pointed it at the humans. The Stones eyes widened slightly knowing how clumsy he could be and most likely would accidentally shoot someone she took the gun out of his hand and placed it into the fruit bowl.
"Thanks, dear." The Doctor smiled.
"No, hang on," Rory said as the man blinked slowly standing up. "No, he's fine."
There was a quiet groan before a hand rested on the table and a man slowly rose. "Ooo, hello. Sorry, is this your office? Had a sort of collision with my vehicle." He slowly turned around. "Faults on both sides, let's say no more about-" he then stopped, freezing when they all saw who the Doctor was talking to. The man with quite a recognisable moustache looked at them. "It."
"Who?"
Amy stepped closer to the Time Lords. "Is that? No, it can't be, Stone?" She whispered to the Time Lady next to her.
"Thank you, whoever you are." The man nodded. "I think you have just saved my life."
"Believe me, it was an accident." The Doctor quietly replied.
Hitler looked at the TARDIS while Amy and Rory turned to the Time Lords. "What is this thing?"
"What did he mean, we saved his life?" Amy whispered. "We could not have just saved Hitler."
"You see?" The Doctor said looking at Mel's. "You see? Time travel, it never goes to plan."
"This box. What is it?"
The Doctor turned around to him. "It's a police telephone box from London, England. That's right, Adolf." He smirked. "The British are coming."
Hitler stared at the Doctor and the Stone before his eyes widened and he brought out a gun. "No, stop him!"
The Doctor ducked with the Stone as Hitler shot the man who was standing behind them. He continued firing before he was knocked to the ground by Rory who grabbed the gun and aimed it at Hitler.
"Sit still, shut up."
"Are you okay?" Amy asked the man lying on the floor.
"Yes, yes. Yes, I'm fine." He reassured. "I think he missed."
"He was going to kill me."
"Shut up, Hitler!"
The Doctor stood up checking over the Stone before he sighed and kissed her forehead. "Rory, take Hitler and put him in that cupboard over there. Now do it."
"Right." Rory nodded grabbed the mans arm. "Putting Hitler in the cupboard. Cupboard, Hitler. Hitler, cupboard. Come on."
"But I am the Fuhrer!"
"Right, in you go!" Rory pushed the man in who stumbled.
"Who are you?" Hitler asked, gaining no answer when Rory shut the door.
"Are you okay?" The Doctor curiously looked at the man.
"Oh, I-" he then fainted, perfectly.
"I think he just fainted," Rory noted.
"Yes, that was a faint." The Doctor eyed the body. "A perfect faint."
Amy frowned something not right caught her eye before she looked up worried. "Mels?"
"Hitler" she whispered sounding slightly in pain.
"What about him?"
"Lousy shot." She gasped collapsing and clutching in her side. The Time Lords and Amy and Rory quickly ran over to her.
"Mels! Mels!"
"Rory!" The Stone shouted.
"No, no, no, no! I've got to stop the bleeding."
"How bad is it?" Amy said her voice thick with deep worry for her friend. "Rory, what can we do?"
"Just keep her conscious. Stay with us, Mels."
"Hey, look at me." The Stone tried to distract Mels. "Just hold on."
"I used to dream about you two." Mels smiled faintly. "All those stories Amy used to tell me."
"What stories?" The Doctor said. "Tell us what stories. Vampires in Venice. That's a belter."
"That's a really good story."
"When I was little." Mels looked at the Time Lady. "I always imagined you to be my older sister, I don't have any siblings so you were the best."
"You know that's a good idea." She smiled. "I'll be your older sister, your parents can adopt me and everything if you want, would be a bit different for mine to given that they and my whole planet is dead.
"Shouldn't you ask my parents first, they might say no."
"As soon as you're well, I'll get on the phone to them." The Doctor smiled.
"Might as well do it now, since they're both right here." Mels croaked as the two humans froze. The Stones eyes widened while the Doctor stared at the woman. "Penny in the air. Penny drops."
Their faces began to reflect the bright yellow glow eradicating from Mels who was now regenerating.
"What the hell's going on?" Rory gasped.
"Back! Back! Back!" The Doctor shouted pulling Rory away. The Stone doing the same to Amy."Get back!"
"Last time I did this, I ended up a toddler in the middle of New York."
"Okay, Doctor, explain what is happening, please," Amy said understanding regeneration from what happened with the Stone but not how.
"Mels. Short for..."
"Melody." Mels supplied.
"Yeah. I named my daughter after her."
"Amy." The Stone quietly cut in. "You named your daughter, after your daughter."
"It took me years to find you two." Mels softly smiled. "I'm so glad I did. And you see? It all worked out in the end, didn't it? You got to raise me after all."
"You're Melody?"
"But if she's Melody, that means that she's also..."
"Shut up, Dad." She cut in sounding in a lot of pain. "I'm focusing on a dress size."
She then cried out as the golden regeneration energy burst out of her. River Song. Or to be River Song now in her place.
"Oh! Oh! Oh!" She grinned. "Whoa! Right, let's see, then. Ooo, it's all going on down there, isn't it?" She ran her hands down her body before they flew up to her hair a grin on her face. "The hair! Oh, the hair. It just doesn't stop, does it? Look at that. Everything changes. Oh, but I love it. I love it! I'm all sort of mature." She then stuck her leg on a chair. "Hello, Benjamin."
The Doctor covered his eyes before he frowned. "Who's Benjamin?" He whispered to the Stone only for her to shrug.
"The teeth." Melody suddenly gasped. "The teeth, the teeth! Oh, look at them." She looked in the mirror before running over. Making the Stones jaw almost drop when she pinned the Doctor against Hitler's desk. The Doctor looked at his wife pleadingly. "Watch out that bow tie." She then stepped away. "Excuse me, you lot. I need to weigh myself."
"That's Melody..."
"That's River Song," Rory replied.
"Who's River Song?" Melody asked while the Doctor winced slightly. "Spoilers."
"Spoilers?" She repeated. "What's spoilers? Hang on, just something I have to check." She then Disappeared again.
"Is anybody else finding today just a bit difficult? I'm getting a sort of banging in my head."
"I had that this morning after skipping my tea... you just made me remind myself.
"Yeah," Amy slowly nodded. "I think that's Hitler in the cupboard."
"That's not helping."
"This isn't the River Song we know yet." The Stone lightly shook her head. "This is her right at the start. Doesn't even know her own name
"Oh, that's magnificent!" She exclaimed before running out. "I'm going to wear lots of jodhpurs." She then looked between the Time Lords. "Well, now, enough of all that. Down to business." She pointed Hitler's gun at the Doctor.
"Oh, hello." He said amusingly. "I thought you were becoming my sister in law."
"Not going to lie but you're a little annoying, I don't want to become a sister in law to you."
"Doctor." Rory looked at the woman who held the gun. "what's she doing?"
"What she's programmed to."
"Where'd she get the gun?"
"Hello, Benjamin." The Time Lords replied, remembering when she grabbed the gun from the chair.
"You noticed." She looked between them before trying to fire with nothing happening.
"Of course we noticed." The Stone replied.
"As soon as we knew you were coming, we tidied up a bit."
"I know you did."
The Stone chuckled shaking her head, remembering when she trapped the Doctor just to get to the other gun. The Stone had turned the fruit bowl so she would pick up a banana and not the gun.
She then pulled it out pointing at the Time Lady. Amy and Rory flinched at the sight, relaxing seeing what it was. "Goodness, is killing you two going to take all day?" She sighed.
"Why?" The Stone asked. "Are you busy?"
"Oh, I'm not complaining, I'm rather enjoying this." She then grabbed a letter opener which the Doctor soniced away.
"If you were in a hurry, you could've killed us in the cornfield."
"We'd only just met." She shook her head at them walking to the desk. "I'm a psychopath. I'm not rude." She grabbed the gun of the man who fainted and fired it only for the Doctor to have the clip in his hand.
Amy sighed. "You are not a psychopath." She looked at the Time Lords. "Why would she be a psychopath?"
"Oh, Mummy, Mummy, pay attention." River slowly walked forwards. "I was trained and conditioned for one purpose. I was born to kill the Doctor and the Stone."
"Demons Run, remember?" The Stone looked at Amy and Rory. "This is what they were building."
"A psychopath." The Doctor added.
Melody lightly smirked. "I'm all yours." She pressed a light kiss to the Doctors lips. Making him instantly move backwards away from her.
"River Song isn't mine." He warned knowing fully well that the Stone wouldn't suddenly snap but she definitely would be planning on what she was going to throw River into, maybe a nice black hole somewhere?
"And who's River Song?"
"An old friend of mine and the Stones."
"Stupid name." She remarked walking up and standing on a window seal. "Oh, look at that. Berlin on the eve of war. A whole world about to tear itself apart. Now that's my kind of town." She spun around to look at the four. "Mum, Dad, don't follow me. And, yes, that is a warning."
"No warning for us then?" The Stone curiously asked having known that she would be no doubt told everything Korvian had learned about her and the Doctor and one of the things they did best; ignore warnings.
"No need, my sister. The deed is done and you're going to be a little busy." The Stone frowned before her eyes widened as the Doctor staggered into her. Instantly she helped to support him, Amy and Rory coming to help.
"Doctor, what's wrong?" Amy asked.
"What have you done?" The Doctor glared at her. "River!"
"Oh, River, River, River." She smirked. "More than a friend, I think, I feel sorry for your wife."
The Stone narrowed her eyes. "What have you done to him?"
She chuckled as if it should have been obvious. "It was never going to be a gun for you two, Doctor, Stone. The man and woman of peace. The two that understands every kind of warfare, except, perhaps, the cruellest."
The Doctor wiped his lips understanding what she had done and why she had actually kissed him. The Doctor swallowed hard his eyes meeting the Stones who looked panicked.
"Kiss, kiss." She joked before jumping out of the broken window.
Rory ran to the window looking out of it for s moment. The Stone held the Doctor up as much as possible, he clutching onto her for dear life. "What's wrong with you? What's she done to you?" Amy frantically asked.
"Poisoned me." He stated then sending them a small smile. "But I'm fine." The Stone shot him a look making him wince. "Well, no, I'm dying, but I've got a plan."
"What plan?"
"Not dying. See? Fine" He grunted as he started to move back to the TARDIS with the Stone.
"Okay, what do we do?" Rory asked feeling helpless. "How do we help you?"
"Take this." The Doctor handed his sonic to Amy. "The Tardis can home in on it. Now, go. Get after her."
Amy continued to help the Stone move the Doctor to the TARDIS while Rory went back to the window. "You said the smoke was deadly."
"No, no, the smoke's fine." The Doctor waved off. "The poison will kill me first. Now, get after River!"
"I don't understand, okay?" Amy looked at the Stone. "One minute she's going to be your sister and then she's going to kill your husband."
"Not just him." The Stone winced. "If the Doctor dies then I die, it's our bond."
Amy's eyes widened. If she lost one of them she lost them both. "Plus she's been brainwashed." The Doctor added. "It all makes sense to her. Plus, she is a woman." The Stone shook her head not even going to narrow her eyes at him. That didn't stop Amy though. "Oh, shut up. I'm dying."
The Doctor stepped into the TARDIS with the Stone. Lightly coughing. "Extractor fans on!
"Oh, that works." The Doctor frowned, he then cried out staggering to the floor, bringing the Stone right with him. "Sorry." He whispered looking at her with a pained expression.
"Don't you dare be sorry to me right now." She replied her voice thick with tears that threatened to fall just seeing how hurt and in pain he looked.
"I'm shutting down." He whispered not looking at her. "I need an interface."
"Voice interface." The Stone loudly said helping the Doctor sit back against the console, even when he was in this much pain he made an effort to wrap an arm around the Time Lady. "Come on, emergency."
A hologram of the Doctor then appeared in a monotone voice. "Voice interface enabled."
"Oh no, no, no, no, no." He shook his head. "Give me someone I like." An image of the current Stone then popped up.
"No." The Stone shook her head. "Definitely not."
"Someone else." The Doctor sighed as the previous blonde Stone then appeared.
"Again, please."
Finally the brunette Stone or who looked young enough to be Rita Stone appeared. "Voice interface." The young woman definitely from before the Stone had opened her watch said. Most likely only a few adventures after meeting the Doctor.
"No-"
"Please." The Doctor whispered forcing the Stone to look over at him." I want it to come from you and only you."
"But-"
"One dying wish, please Stone."
"You know I'm dying too." She whispered shaking her head.
"I know. He replied closing his eyes and pressing his forehead against hers. "I wish you weren't."
"I would rather die with you than without you Doctor." She cupped his cheeks.
The Doctor let out a shaky sigh before he pressed his lips to hers. He then turned to the interface slightly smiling. "Rita Stone when I didn't even know who you were or how important you would be to me."
"I am not Rita Stone. I am a voice interface."
"Don't say that of course, you are. You're the most important woman to me."
"I am not Rita Stone. I am a voice interface."
"So stubborn like always." He muttered shooting the Time Lady a look. "How am I doing?"
"Your system has been contaminated by the poison of the Judas tree. You will be dead in thirty-two minutes."
"Okay. So, basically better regenerate, that's what you're saying."
"Regeneration disabled." They both winced knowing that wouldn't work but it was worth a shot. "You will be dead in thirty-two minutes."
"Unless I'm cured, yeah?"
"There is no cure. You will be dead in thirty-two minutes."
"Why do you keep saying that?"
"Because you will be dead in thirty-two minutes."
"You see?" He narrowed his eyes. "There you go again. Basically skipping thirty-one whole minutes when I'm absolutely fine."
"You will be fine for thirty-one minutes. You will be dead in thirty-two minutes."
"Stop saying that!" The Stone exclaimed feeling now even more annoyed, even if it was silly to be annoyed at a hologram of one of her previous selves.
"River needs us. She's only just beginning. We can't die now."
"You will not die now. You will die in thirty-two minutes
"I'm going out in the first round." He cried looking at the Stone who looked helpless. "Ringing any bells? Argh! Okay, need something for the pain now." He looked at the interface. "Come on, Rita. I may look a little different but it's me. Please."
"I am not Rita Stone. I am a voice interface."
"Rita, listen to me." He pleaded. "I can be brave for you, but you have got to tell me how."
"I am not Rita Stone. I am a voice interface."
The Stone sniffed unable to take it anymore. She shifted slightly and buried her face into the Doctors shoulder, unable to stay as strong as the Doctor wanted her, needed her to be while one of his hands lightly brushed her hair in comfort.
"Rita." He whispered looking at the Stone before closing his eyes in pain. "Rita, please."
"Fish fingers and custard."
The Doctors eyes snapped open. "What did you say? Fish fingers and custard?" He then chuckled as the Stone lightly laughed, kissing his cheek before standing up sniffing and helping the Doctor to stand. "Oh, Rita Stone, I love you. Then again I always have." He winked at the Stone, flipping a lever. "Fish fingers and custard." He then flipped another. "Fish fingers and custard!"
