A Christmas Carol - Four
Bit of a special A/N at the end of this chapter for anyone who is a fan of the two men who live at 221b ;)
-----
Hope you For the Time Lords it was only a few hours after the Christmas dinner with Kazran and Abigail, but for them it was years. Now in Hollywood in the year 1952 the Doctor quickly made his way through the large garden in hope of finding Kazran and Abigail before someone could find him, the Stone shaking her head at him as they walked.
"I didn't mean to!" He said in protest following her wearing a white tuxedo. The bow tie loosely hanging around his neck while she wore a light purple almost lilac strapless dress and white flats.
"Every time." She groaned before spotting Kazran and Abigail beside a pool seeming to be attempting to eat each others faces, at least that was what it lookes like to the Doctor who made a disgusted face at the couple.
"Guys." The Doctor quickly walked up to them. "We've really got to go quite quickly. I just accidentally got engaged to Marilyn Monroe and I think the Stone is actually properly mad at me this time."
"I'm honestly not that upset by it." The Stone admitted shaking her head. "I just wish you would wipe that smug of lipstick off your face and stop having a massive ego."
"I promise to work on the ego dear." He quickly replied rubbing the mark before frowning at Kazran and Abigail not understanding how they were doing that without a respiratory bypass system. "How do you keep going like that?" He said manoeuvring around them. "Do you breathe out your ears?" He lightly tapped them. "Hello? Sorry. Hello? Guys, she's phoned a chapel. There's a car outside. This is happening now."
"Yoo-hoo!" They heard Marilyn call making the Doctor freeze not turning around pretending not to hear.
"Right. Fine." He fixed his coat. "I hope you two walk in on the Stone and I snogging so you get all uncomfortable by it and try to tell us to stop. Which we won't." He sniffed as the Stone raised a brow at him. "Thank you."
"Come on sweetheart leave them alone." She rolled her eyes. "I'm taking a guess that you two might be able to hear me so when you both are finished we'll be in the TARDIS." She then linked her arm with his and they left the two alone once more.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Doctor and the Stone watched the small fish nip at the Doctors broken screwdriver in the cryo vault while Kazran said goodbye to Abigail slowly shutting the door. The Time Lords back in their usual attire again.
"There we go." The Doctor grinned. "Another day, another Christmas Eve." He continued the Stone slightly tilted her head seeing the look on Kazrans face. She couldn't pinpoint it but in her opinion, he looked almost heartbroken. "We'll see you in a minute, eh?" He shook his head. "I mean, a year."
"Doctor?" Kazran sighed making them turn back around after going to head to the TARDIS. "Listen, why don't we leave it?"
"Sorry," the Time Lord blinked not in understanding as he glanced at the Stone who gave a little shrug unsure herself. "Leave what?"
"Oh, you know, this." He waved his hands around. "Every Christmas Eve. It's getting a bit old."
"Old?" The Doctor repeated frowning.
"Well, Christmas is for kids, isn't it?" He asked smiling a little. "I've got some work with my dad now. I'm going to focus on that. Get that cloud belt under control."
"Sorry, I didn't realise we were boring you." He said watching Kazran loosen the bow tie around his neck.
"Not your fault." He admitted. "Times change." He then went to head back to the vault door.
"Not as much as we hoped." The Doctor murmured before glancing at the Time Lady beside him and then back at Kazran walking away. "Kazran." He called walking up to him his broken screwdriver in his hand. "I'll be needing a new one, anyway, the Stone no doubt has one she's making me." He then went to hand it to him. "Merry Christmas. And if you ever need us, just activate it. We'll hear you."
Kazran looked between them looking angrier now. "I won't need either of you."
The Stone slowly shook her head at him, she couldn't understand what was going on. The puzzle pieces didn't fit together. "What's happened?" She questioned. "What are you not telling us Kazran?" She softly asked as he walked away, the Doctor took her hand tightly squeezing. "What about Abigail?" She then spoke up as he spun around waving his hands in the air.
"I know where to find her."
"Yeah." The Time Lords murmured.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Doctor and the Stone wastes no time going back to the TARDIS and managing to get in contact with Amy and Rory, explaining their plan and what had happened, making sure to tell them what they needed them or more so specifically Amy, they frowned when a small beeping noise was hears and a faint flashing light appeared on the console before their eyes widened realising it must have been Kazran. Quickly they took the TARDIS to the location and quietly watched from his large glass window as Kazran placed the screwdriver back in the draw and frowned when seeing the Time Lords. Pulling the curtains together they both sighed quietly heading back to the TARDIS to finish their explanation.
"...He's changed my past, my whole life." They heard. Through the console quietly wincing at the cold harsh voice of the older Kazran.
"Time can be rewritten."
"You tell the Doctor and the Stone. Tell them from me, people can't."
"That's Abigail?"
"I would never have known her if the Doctor and the Stone hadn't changed the course of my whole life to suit themselves."
"Well, that's good, isn't it?"
"No." Kazran hissed.
"Why is she still in there? You could let her out any time."
"Oh, yes. Any time at all." He said almost sound heartbroken at the thought. "Any time I choose."
"Then why don't you?"
"This is what the Doctor and the Stone did to me." He replied. "Abigail was ill when she went into the ice. On the point of death. I suppose the rest in the ice helped her. But she's used up her time. All those Christmas Eves with me. I could release her any time I want, and she would live a single day. So tell me, Ghost of Christmas Present," he spat looking at the hologram of Amy as the Time Lords watched from the TARDIS scanner, realisation suddenly hitting them. "How do I choose which day?"
"I'm sorry. I really am. I'm very, very sorry. But you know what? She's got more time left than I have." Amy said shaking her head. "More than anyone on this ship."
"Good."
"Rory, widen the beam."
Rory did just that and Kazran looked around now seeing what they saw on the ship. "Status update on engine one."
"How did I get here?"
"You didn't. It's your turn to be the hologram. Since you're going to let a lot of people die, I thought you might like to see where it's all going to happen."
"The singing." Kazran frowned hearing the faint singing. "What is it? I don't understand."
"It's the Doctor's idea," Rory said. "The harmonies resonate in the ice crystals, that's why the fish like it. He thought maybe it would stabilise the ship. But it isn't working just like the Stone said. It's not powerful enough."
"Why are they still singing, then?"
"Because we haven't told them." The captain cut in looking at Kazrans hologram. "Sir, I understand you have a machine that controls this cloud layer. If you can release us from it, we still have time to make a landing. Nobody has to die."
"Everybody has to die."
"Not tonight."
"Tonight's as good as any other. How do you choose?"
"Doctor?" Amy said. "Stone?"
"Yeah?" They both replied the Doctor tightly holding the Time Lady's hand seeing the look on her face.
"Are you hearing this?"
"We can hear." The Stone softly replied slowly nodding.
"They're here?" Kazran looked around. "Where are they? Doctor?" He questioned. "Doctor!"
"I'm sorry." The Stone. Shook her head. "We didn't realise."
"All my life, I've been called heartless." He looked at them as they stood in the cryo chamber. "My other life, my real life, the one you rewrote. Now, look at me."
"Better a broken heart than no heart at all." The Doctor said.
"Oh, try it." He mocked. "You try it."
"I have." He murmured tightening his grip on the Stone's hand not wanting her to let go after having allowed this to happen. She honestly was so hurt by this, by what she allowed herself to do. It wasn't what she wanted and now Abigail was probably going to die because of it.
"Why are you here?"
"Because I'm not finished with you yet." He replied. "You've seen the past, the present, and now you need to see the future."
"Fine. Do it." He hissed. "Show me. I'll die cold, alone and afraid. Of course, I will. We all do. What difference does showing me make? Do you know why I'm going to let those people die? It's not a plan. I don't get anything from it. It's just that I don't care. I'm not like you. I don't even want to be like you. I don't and never, ever will care."
"And I don't believe that."
"Then show me the future. Prove me wrong."
"We are showing it to you." The Stone said making Kazran spin around. After him talking and talking he didn't notice her disappeared from the Doctors side. He didn't hear the wheezing of the TARDIS. "I'm showing it to you right now." She then looked behind the Doctor where the TARDIS was, looking at the young twelve-year-old Kazran. "So what do you think? Is this who you want to become, Kazran?"
"Dad?" The younger Kazran questioned only to shake in fear when the older Kazran marched up to him raising his hand to hit his younger self.
He suddenly let out a sob and tightly hugged his younger self who also cried. The Stone let out a small sigh and stood beside the Doctor who opened his arms to hug her and kissed her hair before looking back at the two Kazrans the older one whispering. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. It's okay, don't be frightened. I'm, I'm so, so, so..."
"Kazran." The Doctor said. "We don't have much time."
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Stone pulled the two wires together smiling when the screen lit up. "Hello? Hello? Ah, hello, everyone." The Doctor grinned. "Prepare to lock on to my signal."
"Doctor, what's happening?" Amy questioned.
"My wife just saved Christmas." He laughed kissing the Stones cheek. "Don't go away." The screen suddenly disappeared. The Doctor ran over to the two Kaazrans who were at the machine which was beeping at them both.
"We good to go, then?"
"The controls, they won't respond."
"Of course they will." He shook his head trying them himself. "They're isomorphic. They're tuned to your brainwaves. They'll only respond to you."
"They won't respond."
"That doesn't make sense. That's ridiculous. Why wouldn't? Oh. Oh, of course." He shook his head again starting to pace around. "Stupid, stupid Doctor."
"What's wrong?" Kazram asked. "Tell me, what is it?"
"It's you. It's you. I've changed you too much." The Doctor replied. "The machine doesn't recognise you."
"But my father programmed it."
"No," the Stone cut in. "Your father would never have programmed it for the man you are now."
"Then what do we do?"
"Er, er..." the Doctor worrying looked at the Stone who had became quite worryingly pale. "I don't know. I don't know."
"There must be something." The younger Kazran cut in.
"This." The older Kazran held up the Doctors screwdriver. "You can use this. I kept it, see?"
"What, half a screwdriver?" He scoffed. "My wife has a sonic that isn't broken and that won't even be able to help. And this one got half of itself up in the sky in a big old shark..." he then blinked. "Right in the heart of the cloud layer. If we use your aerial to boost the signal, set up a resonation pattern between the two halves. Ooo, come on, that would work. My screwdriver, coolest bit of kit on this planet. Coolest two bits. It could do it."
"Do what?"
"Well, my screwdriver is still trying to repair." He informed. "It's signalling itself. We use the signal, but we send something else."
"Send what?"
The Doctor froze suddenly understanding what was wrong with the Time Lady. Why she was so quiet, of course she knew, she always did. "Well, what?" The older Kazran asked. "What?"
"I'm sorry, Kazran." The Doctor whispered. "I truly am."
"I don't understand."
The Stone thickly swallowed then opened her mouth not daring to look at him, her eyes fixes om the floor, arms crossed. "We need to transmit something into the cloud belt. Something we know works."
"We need her to sing." The Doctor sighed.
----------------------------------------------------------------
"Her voice resonates perfectly with the ice crystals." The Doctor said looking at Abigail in the cryo-chamber. His arms wrapped around the Stone. "It calmed the shark. It will calm the sky, too."
"Could you do it?" Kazram asked making the Doctor tense at his words, his arms tightening on his hold of the Time Lasy. "Could you do this? Think about it, Doctor. One last day with your beloved. Which day would you choose?"
The Doctor swallowed thickly his eyes drifting down to look at her face. He opened his mouth before his eyes shot up hearing Abigail.
"Christmas." She tearfully replied. "Christmas Day. Look at you." She smiled cupping Kazrans cheek. "You're so old now. I think you waited a bit too long, didn't you?"
"I'm sorry." He croaked.
"Hoarding my days, like an old miser."
"But if you leave the ice now-"
"We've had so many Christmas Eves, Kazran. I think it's time for Christmas Day." She cut him off.
"Yes." He sniffed.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Abigail held the Doctors broken screwdriver as the Stone flashed hers at the Doctors the Stone trying to boost the signal while she Abigail.
"Well?" Kazran nervously asked. "Well?"
"Well, the singing resonates in the crystals. It's feeding back and forth between the two halves of the screwdriver. Now, one song, filling the sky. The crystals will align and I'll feed in a controlled phase loop, and the clouds will unlock." He connected to wires together."
"What does that mean, unlock?" The younger Kazran asked frowning. "What happens when a cloud unlocks?"
"Something that hasn't happened in this town for a very long time now." The Stone said.
The Time Lords softly smiling looking up as it started to snow.
Slowly they walked towards the TARDIS with the younger Kazran leaving the older Kazran with Abigail who continued to sing.
"Let's go." He whispered opening the door for Kazran who stepped inside. They both looked back once more before stepping inside dematerialising the TARDIS.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The Stone chuckled watching the Doctor lightly rub his nose with the snowman they had just made before she squeaked at the cold as he did the same to her nose before she lightly scolded him pushing him away.
"You know, that could almost be mistaken for a real person." Amy remarked walking up to them with Rory. Strangely in the kissogram police uniform while Rory was dressed as a Roman. "The snowman isn't bad, either."
"Ah, yes, you two. About time." He remarked. "Why are you dressed like that?"
"Er, kind of lost our luggage. Kind of crash landed?"
"Yeah, but why are you dressed like that at all?"
"I think it's best not to ask that question..." the Stone said lightly coughing.
"Yeah, they really love their snowmen around here, don't they?" Amy said trying to change the topic. "I've counted about twenty."
"Yeah, we've been busy." The Doctor laughed.
"Yeah. Yeah, you have." She then gave them both a hug. "Thank you."
"Pleasure." He nodded. "Right, come on then, let's go."
"Got any more honeymoon ideas?" Rory asked not sounding very pleased with the idea.
"Well, there's a moon that's made of actual honey." The Doctor said slightly tilting his head.
"Well, not actual honey, and it's not actually a moon, and technically it's alive, and a bit carnivorous, but there are some lovely views." The Stone nodded as the Doctor grinned.
"Yeah. Great. Thanks." Rory stepped into the TARDIS.
"Are you..." Amy looked between them. "Are you two okay?"
The Stone swallowed as the Doctor automatically nodded. "Of course we're okay. You?"
"Of course." She nodded before sighing. "It'll be their last day together, won't it?"
"Everything has got to end sometime, otherwise nothing would ever get started." The Stone sighed shaking her head.
"I just hope some things last forever." She heard the Doctor quietly whispering into her mind. His hand tightly squeezing hers.
Rory then popped his head out the TARDIS looking at the Doctor. "Your phone was ringing. Someone called Marilyn. Actually sounds like the Marilyn."
"Doctor?" Amy raised a brow hearing the Stone groan her head lightly banging against the TARDIS.
"Tell her she's got the wrong number." He quickly replied. "And that I'm married!"
Amy chuckled a little before looking between the Time Lords. "Where are they? Kazran and Abigail."
"Off on a little trip, I should think." The Doctor grinned.
"Where?"
"Christmas."
"Christmas?"
"Yeah." The Stone whispered. "Christmas."
Amy slowly nodded walking into the TARDIS. "Halfway out of the dark." The Do tor murmured before taking the Stone's hand.
----------------------------------------------------------------
After Amy and Rory went to bed until the Time Lords found them another honeymoon planet or trip, the Doctor found the Stone in the kitchen making some mint tea.
"You okay dear?" He whispered slowly walking up to her, his arms tightly holding her in a hug, his chin on her shoulder.
"Truthfully." She sighed. "No."
"I'm sorry." He whispered allowing her to turn around in his arms to face him. "I know you didn't want to change Kazrams time, it cost us Abigails life, I know you blame yourself-"
"I'll get over it." She swallowed taking in a deep breath. "It will go to the back of my mind and stay there."
"I wish we could have saved her.
"Everything comes to an end though." She replied. "We both know that."
"I'm just worried when this will." He admitted.
"Don't say that." She softly replied. "Please."
"Okay." He nodded.
The Stone then slightly smiled reaching into her pocket bringing out a small box and handing it to the Doctor. "I've been meaning to give you an upgrade in a while and thought our anniversary would be as good as any but now with your old one broken it seems like I should give it to you now. The Christmasy adventure also made it make more sense."
"You didn't..."
"Happy anniversary Doctor." She chuckled lightly kissing him after he opened the box flashing the screwdriver that looked like an exact replica to the one that had broke.
"But I didn't get you anything, yet." He mumbled. "I was planning on sneaking out and getting you something from the planet we would be staying on."
"I don't need anything." She chuckled. "I've got my husband and the whole of time and space at my fingertips. "Two of my favourite things in the Universe, what more do I need?"
"Happy Anniversary and Merry Christmas, Stone." He smiled.
"Merry Christmas, Doctor." She replied.

So I know this isn't anything to do with Doctor Who but I have a new fan fiction in the works, currently, it only has three chapters and no title but I have been pulled into the Sherlock fandom, therefore, I thought I would write for it after gaining an idea that a loved. (It's a little bit cliche but I quite like it.) I would very much appreciate some feedback if you do read on. A beta reader would also be amazing.

The two headed upstairs, Emily rolled her eyes at Sherlock who lay stretched out on his sofa with his head resting on a cushion. The man didn't have his jacket on with the buttons on his sleeves undone and pushed up his arms. The man didn't even open an eye when Emily and John entered the room. Sherlock had his right hand pressing against his left arm, just under the inside of his elbow. His eyes then shot open feeling Emilys gaze on him.
"What are you doing?" John asked as Emily curiously watched Sherlock.
"Nicotine patch." He answered lifting his arm to show three round nicotine patches stuck to his arm. "Helps me think."
Emily rolled her eyes. "Impossible to sustain a smoking habit in London these days. Bad news for brain work."
Emily shook her head, reached over and ripped the patches off his arm making the man wince slightly. "What the hell was that for?"
"Do you seriously want an addiction?" She snapped throwing the patches at his chest. "Because that's what will happen Holmes."
"No, it won't." He replied.
"It will if you keep using three patches at a time!"
"I don't understand how this concerns you." He sniffed.
"It concerns me because if you mess up this case it messes up for me two." She narrowed her eyes at him. "This isn't just about you Holmes."
"The case isn't your concern either, I can handle it."
"Look." She sighed shaking her head. "I don't know if you understand in that thick skull of yours but this case is mine just as much as it is yours. Now you called John for a reason and even asked me to come so what did you want?"
"How did you know?" John stared at her.
"I saw your texts." She shrugged.
"Oh, yeah, of course." He looked at John. "Can I borrow your phone?"
"My phone?"
"Don't wanna use mine." He replied. "Always a chance that the number will be recognised. It's on the website."
"The website no one looks at?" Emily raised a brow.
Sherlock meerly narrowed his eyes at the brunette.
"Mrs Hudson's got a phone." John reminded.
"Yeah, she's downstairs. I tried shouting but she didn't hear."
"We were the other side of London." John gritted his teeth.
"There was no hurry."
John glanced at Emily who shrugged slightly not bothering to argue any further. "Here." John sighed handing his phone over.
"So what's this about – the case?" John raised a brow.
"Her case." Sherlock softly replied.
"Her case?"
Sherlock opened her eyes. "Her suitcase, yes, obviously." He muttered. "The murderer took her suitcase. First big mistake."
"Okay, he took her case. So?"
"It's no use," he shook his head, "there's no other way. We'll have to risk it."
"On my desk there's a number. I want you to send a text."
"You brought me here..." John gritted his teeth again, "to send a text."
"Text, yes." He nodded. "The number on my desk."
"And you wonder why I despise you, Holmes."
"The feelings mutual." He smiled and held out Johns phone to said man.

So obviously my OC is called Emily Hadley if you hadn't realised already. She is portrayed by the beautiful Dianna Agron More will be revealed of her character soon.
I am planning to at least get book one of this series out just after 'A good man goes to war' (I'm aware this is right in the middle of 'Times Will Change') this is subject to change and may do depending on how many chapters are in book one. (baring in mind each series of Sherlock is three episodes long, each around 90 minutes long) I don't want a massive gap between the first half of 'Times Will Change' and the second so if the first Sherlock book is too long then it will begin after Times Will Change is complete.
Hope that makes more sense since I've been busy with trying to prepare for a holiday coming up while writing Sherlock fanficion and editing TPS :)
