Chapter 1
It's been a year since the take over. Me and Greyson have made a team. A rebellion, against the Panbems. We made a mineshaft and live underground, protecting the time portal. If the Panbems find the portal, they could end Earth before it was made. I shook my head and sighed. "What's wrong?" Ashley asked. She is a red haired girl that's as tan as ever. I shook my head. "What is it?!" Ashley insisted on knowing. That's Ashley for you, I thought, as firm as a bull. "Fine," I said, giving in, "My dad." My dad was kidnapped by the Panbems, when caught building a weapon, that could end this era, the era of the Panbems revenge. "Oh," Ashely frowned, "Sorry about that C.J. He'd be proud of you." I felt tears, begging to choke out of my eyes. Ashley hugged me. I didn't dare push away. Her arms were filled with warmth. Oh yeah, I'm the leader of the rebellion! We call ourselves the The Hope. Nice name, right? I smiled, and she let go. "I know them," I mumbled. "The plans? The blueprints?" Ashley asked in a hushed voice. I nodded. The blueprints, and the plan, to take down the Panbems, were trapped forever in my mind. "I didn't say anything, for your own safety. All our safety. Who knows who's listening," I whispered. Ashley nodded, understanding what I meant. I walked behind me, and looked at a breakable door. I typed in a code, replaying the numbers over and over in my head. 54390, 54390, 54390. The doors opened, into a unbreakable walled in room. There in front of me sat the portal. A mix of black and white, made a mushy gray. "I wonder how it works," Ashley mumbled quietly. I heard the door shut behind me. I shrugged. I looked around the portal. A built in keypad, the diamond frame, black crystals around the edges, and the white mist surrounding the portal. I walked over to the door, and the punched in a the code again. After a second, door opened. I walked out, hearing the footsteps of Ashley behind me, and the door closing. I stopped, abruptly. I looked back and Ashely and commanded, "Tell everyone else to spread the word: Meet in the Big Hall." Ashley sprinted to my right, the main room. I went to my left, trying to rid my dad of my thoughts. I kept walking, and noticed Greyson. He ran to me and gave me a hug. "What the-" I asked but was cut off by Greyson, "It feels like I haven't seen you in forever!" I laughed. "It's only been two days," I replied, pushing him away a little. "Some busy two days," Greyson says, letting go of me. I laughed. Since it was my idea of The Hope, I'm the leader, and Greyson helped started it, so he's the co-leader. "We're meeting in the Big Hall." Greyson nodded, and headed the other way. I walked on, passing empty bedrooms, and feeding chambers. I got to the end of the hall, and went into my room. The room, was dark. I walked over to a conner in the room. I picked up a book, a old book, they reminded me of when I was little. It's called "The Simpler Days." I went outside, and walked down the hall, gripping the book, tight in my hand, ready to make a speech. I kept walking into the Big Hall. Everyone was in there. I walked onto the stage, made out of mud, and stone. "Everyone, listen up!" I yelled. Everyone looked at me. I felt a sense of pride, deep in my heart. Just one little girl, can make all these people, rise up, and rebel. "This book," I say as I hold up The Simpler Days, "represents our past lives! The simpler days! Then the Panbems came!" Booing filled the room, and I nodded, "I fill your pain!" I started, "But, I remember, the great, plans, the blueprints of the Omega Machine, by my father Elmore Berstin!" Everyone clapped, hooted, and cheered, for my father. "We. Will. Free. Him! With the Omega Machine!" I yelled. They cheered louder. I smiled, thinking of the green, big black eyes aliens, and the terror on their face. "It's our time!" I yelled, "Time to get revenge for a reason! For us! For our friends! Our family! We will defeat them!" I hold up the book high. "Back to the simpler times! We have to be strong for the human race!" I yelled. Everyone cheered, and yelled "We have to be strong for the human race!" and I was amazed. I mean, I'm only fourteen! Greyson is fifth teen, just a few months ahead of me though. How did I start all this? A roaring crowd, ready to fight? How did I pull of that speech? It wasn't just me. I had help of course. But one idea -a dream of freedom- from a little girl, who knew it could do this much? I smiled out at the crowd. I started roaring with them. "We will stay strong for the human race! We will stay strong for the human race!" We yelled. Group by group, they calmed down, and left. Even when it was me and Greyson, the words echoed throughout the room. "I think I did good," I sighed. I rubbed my eyes, exhausted from the past couple of hours, yelling. Greyson hugged me, "No. You did great." I let him cradle me onto his side and I giggled as I did. I spun around and stared into his eyes, holding his firm, yet gentle hands. I smiled. I couldn't help but notice the tiny specks of red glass in his eye, just like I did the day of the take over. "The simpler times?" Greyson asked, "he said, "When we're those?" I saw the smile on his face, and knew he just wanted me to go over all the fun we've had throughout the years. "When we got ice cream together. When we'd climb trees..." My voice trailed off into thought. When we didn't have alien overlords. I sighed. "We should get some sleep," Greyson suggested. I nodded and slumped to my room. I dropped into my bed. I pulled my covers over my head, whispering myself a story till I fell asleep.
