4. Secret Guilds
[AUTHOR'S NOTE: You'll slowly see the hook of the plot, and then the main plot will begin shortly. Hope you're ready for goosebumps!]
Sneaking around the castle, at night, means risking everything to go down into the Slytherin Dungeons. None of the boys could know of my whereabouts because it would only cause drama. I have to keep it on the down low, so I could have a better shot at sorting it out. It's just a nightmare to have to deal with this stupid curse.
To stop people from questioning, my whereabouts was hidden, by the girls telling everyone that I was at a party. I was pretty popular so it was believable. The party was in the Ravenclaw dormitory which was the most difficult common room to get into. All of this would stop the boys from trying to find me, because they weren't that smart when it comes to riddles.
I was the only one invited as I made an effort to be friendly to all students.
You could argue all of them do this, but you'd be surprised, about how many times the different students would be competitive with one another. It's wild that no one could get along!
I run down the stairs, my bag packed, with everything that was essential inside of it.
There was a few joke products just in case if I needed a defence weapon. What? Don't blame me for being overly cautious about what will happen, the Slytherin students can be unpredictable. Everyone knows this!
"Bye Adora!" Shouts Ginny. "Let me know when you've gotten back!"
I blow kisses trying to make light of my situation. Unfortunately, while I was messing around, I ended up walking into a nearby chair bashing the back of my shins.
"Adora! You idiot!" Cries Ron, my favourite brother of the lot. (Certainly not because he's my twin or anything).
My comeback would've been: you can talk. Only it would be ironic on my part, with me not being able to do the very thing I hypothetically talked about.
My journey into the dungeons begun.
######
The Slytherin Dungeons were around the corner from the Potions classroom, obviously. I just used the same route as I would if I was going to a regular class.
Malfoy was waiting for me outside, avoiding the possibility of being found out by anybody else. There was ways to sneak around in the dungeons without being caught according to him. He would know because he uses the wing of the castle, almost yearly.
Who would've thought that a Weasley would be sneaking to meet a Malfoy, not me. It would never of been in my wildest of dreams. I have to keep this tightly shielded, because no one would let me live it down if it got out.
I just want this to get rid of the curse for good. And do our ancestors proud, by ending the feud, belonging to the stolen heirlooms.
######
Imagine: you're meeting someone in secret only to be stood up, the nerve. My reputation was on the line just by me making the effort to be here, and I could loose absolutely everything. Here I am doing the absolute most getting nothing in return. May I remind them of who's cursed? Us! So it might be best to resolve it?!
A funny gut feeling made me unsure of what to do next, so I made sure to have my wand, just in case it was needed in an emergency.
I peak around the pillar that kept me from being spotted by the threat. Only to have a sharp green light come flying towards me, letting me know that this person was skilled in duels due to their use of silent spells. My cover is blown. And I was at serious risk, of being hurt, or seriously injured, and with no speech that means there was no way I was able to defend myself with magic.
It was not even on my mind when making arrangements to come meet a Slytherin student. That should've been the first thing that I thought of! Maybe, it wasn't a bad thing, to have a paranoid friend, who knows a lot of about the underworld of dark wizards and witches.
My breathing was rich and very vivid.
The best bet was to reveal my identity, drop my wand, to showcase that I was coming in peace and I'm not a threat. I waited until the green spells stop. That's when I decided to take a step away from the pillar, and into the open hallway. I saw a familiar face of a few wizards known to our family due to the connection to Potter.
My hands are raised above my head, until I had to drop my wand, and prove my innocence to the unnamed person. I didn't know what this person was doing in the same dungeons as I was. It made no sense to an alumni to be back at Hogwarts, unless there was danger presence, and not something that can be discussed to students.
"Adora? You're not hurt are you?"
That voice... belongs to a Malfoy... of all people to arrive at a bad time. My face didn't need a mirror to know there was a permanent scowl on it.
The witch raises her wand pointing it at my fellow classmate, seriously suggesting the student was to be of some worry.
That's when I remembered that I had my notebook and muggle pen with me. I route through my bag as fast as I could to retrieve these items from within my knitted bag. Malfoy was at a distance from us. Allowing me to be more swift, in my choices, because I refuse to be the reason someone else was hurt. I may not like the kid but it wasn't something I wished upon anyone.
"Adora, now is not the time for essays," warns Malfoy.
I ignored the boy because I was aware of what my goal was.
"You're just as bad as your brothers..."
I was finally finished scribbling my 'essay,' and handed it to the people who was waiting for an answer. Then, quite pettily, I put my middle finger up at Malfoy, and defended my annoying brothers.
Some of the people in front of us laughed at my action. I didn't dare throw it in their direction and took a step back so that Malfoy was in-between us.
Malfoy's arm goes in front of me as if he wanted to protect me too.
"Is this your version of Romeo and Juliet?" Said the female witch, with bright purple hair. "Rebelling against your own mother is not the way to go Weasley."
"You know her?" Asks Malfoy, looking at me.
I shrug, not sure.
Malfoy stood up for us. "Of course you do. And no, it's not a Shakespeare play, this is far more complicated than rebelling."
The witch was ignoring Malfoy turning to read the scribbled note. It was obvious of which part the witch was at when reading because of her expressions. She puts the paper in her pocket not caring if it rips or not. It was still unsure to make any quick judgements that no more spells would be thrown our way.
The Witch becomes less threatening as she speaks. "Nymphadora Tonks, though I prefer Tonks."
Malfoy tenses. "Expelliarmus."
The wand flies and goes into Malfoy's hand. "It doesn't excuse your attempts to hurt an innocent person."
"It doesn't explain what a Malfoy is doing with a Weasley, and I'm not making a big deal out of your business.... Cousin."
"That title no longer belongs to you, does it?"
Tonks was full of attitude. "No... it doesn't... Will you let me explain why I'm here?"
Malfoy removes his extended arm showing signs of peace. I watch the family bicker as if there was no family drama ripping them apart, and I grin.
"Wipe that smirk off your face, will you?" Says Malfoy.
It only gets wider and wider in retaliation.
"She's a keeper..." teases Tonks. She quickly jumps out of her playful mood to explain her reasons of being inside the castle. "I'm here to collect you as you were chosen by the rings... and you've been accepted into the Slayers Guild."
