Gulf's POV

"what's wrong father?" I asked as he looked to my mother then back to me, they told me to come back to talk today

"we already talked about this when you were in high school, now you're an adult and it's time for you to make it official"

"what?" I was confused

"it's about your fiancée son" my mother said

"hah?!" I looked to them wide eyes

"you know the one we told you before, Kannika, the daughter of my friend"

"I think I remember talking about this before"

"well you didn't pay any attention back then so we thought that you forgot, you said you don't care so we decided to get engaged when you are older, she's is 22 years now"

"it's a good time to finally get a lover and think seriously about your future son" mother continued

"no thanks"

"you should at least meet her once, maybe you will be interested in her"

"I don't want father"

"I already promised my friend that you will at least meet" I sighed getting a bit irritated, whether I meet her or not I surely won't spare her one thought, my heart already belong to someone else

"we already arranged for you two to meet tomorrow by lunch at xxx place" mother said

"why did you do that without my permission, you I know I hate things like this"

"we are sorry dear, everything happened quickly after being contacted by the girl's father and we couldn't refuse him" she explained

"whatever" I stood and got out.

"Gulf?" Mew asked a little surprised seeing me sitting down on a sofa in his bed room after getting out of bath

"didn't you say you're not coming today?" he said sitting on the edge of the bed facing me while drying his hair

"I felt so irritated after my conversation with my parents and went out to change my mood but I found myself coming to your place" he smiled putting the towel around his neck

"do you want to talk about it?"

"hear this doctor, my parents arranged me a meeting with a girl who was supposed to be my unofficial fiancée" I said sitting next to him, he looked to me with wide eyes

"you have a fiancée?!"

"no I don't, it was my father and her father idea to get us together when we grow old, they told me about her once when I was a first year in high school, I wasn't interested at all, she was only 11 years back then and soon after I forgot about her completely"

"so you never met before?"

"never and I don't want to, yet my parents went and arranged a meeting for us tomorrow by lunch" I said pouting laying down

"well it can't be helped, just meet her and tell her honestly that you don't want anything with her so she can be free from your fathers promise and find someone else"

"it kind of make sense when you say it like this but what if she doesn't want to give up?"

"just lie to her that you already have someone you love" I glanced up to him while he walked and picked some clothes from the closet... it won't be a lie, it's true that I already am in love with someone

"here, go take a bath and let's go to sleep, I will contact your parents about you being here" I stood up taking the pajamas

"thank you, I'm glad I came to talk to you doctor"

"anytime Gulf, so don't worry about tomorrow, it's going to be fine " I chuckled

"btw I'm not going to eat anything by lunch so make sure to cook me a delicious dinner when I come later"

"then you do the shopping before coming"

"I will" I smiled going into the bathroom

"good afternoon" she said while I was sitting down facing the girl

"hello" I said after ordering a glass of juice

"aren't you going to order smth to eat?" she asked

"no, I promised to eat with a friend later"

"I see" she looked down looking nervous and restless

"this is little embarrassing since we've never met before" she said after a while of silence, I drank a little juice then looked to her

"I will be honest with you miss Kannika, I'm not interested in this arranged engagement and neither in getting to know you" she looked shocked to me

"I grew up with hearing your name from my father as my betrothed" she hesitantly said

"I'm sorry about that but this is the reality, you got into this because of our fathers so you should forget about me and start searching for another man"

"I understand but what if we try to get-"

"no" I cut her off making her stare at me

"this may sound like a lie to you but I really have someone I love already, I only came here today because I respect your father and didn't want to cause any trouble between us"

"do you really love someone?" for some reason she looked relieved which made me confused

"yes I do" she smiled leaning back completely relaxed

"thank god, you see I also have a crush on someone but my father kept pestering me to go meet you and try to get to know you if you wanted"

"so you also was forced into this" I smiled feeling also relieved that we could come to an understanding

"yes, my father kept nagging for years about how I should never date anyone because when I'm older I may get betrothed to you, but who can control his feelings? I already fell in love with this senior from university and was waiting for this meeting to clear things up before confessing"

"then please don't worry about this arranged thing anymore and go for it, confess your love to him and may you find eternal happiness with him" she smiled as she started eating feeling comfortable

"thank you P' Gulf, what about you? Did you already confess?"

"not yet, honestly I only realized my feelings recently for him" she glanced at me blinking a few times

"him?"

"yes, he is a doctor I met a year ago, at first he was just a friend but slowly..." she smiled

"it was the same for me, I met this senior at my tennis club when I was a first year, we didn't meet anywhere except for the club since we are from different faculties and he was two years older, but then we arranged this trip and I got to spend more time with him and without noticing I found myself looking for him around and we started meeting at the cafeteria, well he already graduated last year and started helping his father with their business"

"he is lucky to have a beautiful girl like you"

"thank you, do you think I may have a chance?"

"having a chance or not doesn't matter, make sure to show him how you really feel and don't give up" she nodded looking encouraged

"you're right, even if he reject me I will keep confessing until he accept me" we giggled

"with this determination, you will definitely get his heart"

"it feels nice talking about this with someone out of my surroundings"

"sometimes talking to strangers can be more motivating and relaxing than your friends and family"

"it sure is, hey, can we stay in contact? Just texting when we want to talk about things like this" she offered

"sounds good" we exchanged our contacts, we kept talking for a while then I went back to Mew's place

"you are in a good mood, so everything went well with the girl right?"

"yes, it turns out she already have someone she loves but was forced by her father to meet me"

"I see, I'm glad you didn't have any troubles"

"me too, btw doctor, why this feast?" I looked to the full table as Mew sat down

"you may not remember but today makes it one year since we met so I wanted to celebrate our first year of friendship" I looked to him stunned

"you remembered?" I looked astonished, I also remembered that it's today

"of course I did, I've never met a high schooler mafia boss before so today became unforgettable"

"I'm not a high schooler" he giggled

"that's what I first thought when I saw you in the hospital"

"I remember you beating all my bodyguards"

"sorry about that" we laughed eating the delicious food he made

"I have no place for any other bite right now" I said sitting on the sofa rubbing my full stomach

"actually me too" he said and sat next to me, I slid down resting my head on his lap while he was typing smth on his tablet

Mew's POV

"are you busy with work?" Gulf asked while he was resting on my lap

"no, but I have a surprise that will excite you"

"what is it?"

"I found it, the old story of Achara" he sat up quickly facing me

"really?! Come on let's start reading it" he got closer watching the screen with curious and starry eyes as I focused on the screen too. The story goes like this

There was a girl named Achara was born into a very rich family, she was treated like a real princess yet she was also included in her family business and even helped around, she had an only older brother and they were the perfect family, the girl grew up in the best environment, she was smart, beautiful and had a strong spirit, she was also cheerful and friendly and her kindness knows no limit as she would give away half of her belonging every year to the poor and homeless people.

As she grew up the girl started to notice things she didn't before, like when she helped her father in business, she would find a large sum of money coming out of nowhere, she tried to ask around but she was kept in the dark by her family, apparently her brother knew the reason too, she was only 17 years old when she started spying on her father until she found his secret.

She was shocked to find that her father was entangled in an underground business, dealing in some forbidden materials and even selling other people's information for money, but she noticed that they were using an unknown language during that time and decided it to learn it to fully understand what's happening during the secret meetings, by the next one the girl has already mastered the language and spied on their meeting.

Being the kind and serious girl she is, she confronted her family about it wanting them to stop with this dangerous business but no one listened to her and was pushed completely away from the family business, the girl really loved her family and wanted them to stop and kept begging them but it was no use so she decided to start keeping her distance and do what she likes.

During her older brother's wedding she visited a shop to ask for a costume made gift for her brother and she ended up falling in love with the owner of the shop, they kept meeting every day in secret and shared all her emotions with him, finally the shop owner went to meet with the girl's father to ask her for marriage but was turned down almost immediately that's why they decided to elope.

While living together, the girl told her lover everything about the secrets of her bad family, she even taught him the unknown language, even though knowing all that the man kept loving the girl and promised to love her and be faithful to her, during that time, they noticed the water lilies near the lake near their small house and the girl loved the flowers a lot so the man kept getting her one every morning since as a proof of his pure love for her and she was so happy, she felt like the happiest girl with that man even though they had nothing.

Unfortunately, a year later, her father found her and dragged her back with force and the man was banished from the country, the girl was in sorrow and cried almost every day after being separated from her beloved man, she was forced soon after to marry someone else but she announced in her ceremony that she's never going to marry anyone for the rest of her life and that made all men stay away from her.

For two years, the girl lived in deep sadness locked in her house like a bird in cage, she hated her parents who never understood how truly she loved that man, only her brother visited her and comforted her after seeing how thin and pale his beautiful sister became, he even tried to talk to his parents about her but they ignored him, so the brother wanted to find a special gift for his sister to cheer her up a little and kept searching for days until her found a special pocket watch that captivated him right away and gave it to her.

Achara who also got attracted to the watch felt so nostalgic and warm when she held it and when she noticed a carved letter she knew right away that it was from her beloved man, she asked her brother to track down the origin of the watch and he helped her until he found out that the man got acquainted with someone who used black magic who helped him to bless/curse the watch he created offering his own soul to it, the girl understood the real meaning of the letter after hearing the truth from her brother.

The man who couldn't send water Lilies to her anymore poured all his pure love into the watch, like how she shared her sadness and pain about her family with him, he also wanted to share his pain and suffering with her, suffering about being apart and not being able to become a real family, he wanted to assure her that he will keep loving her even in the afterlife and if they were resurrected by any chance this watch will assure their unity.

Like how their lives were full of hardship, love, tears, happiness and even death, this watch will bring bad luck to its owner when he meets his fated partner and it will only turn to good luck when they are united for life, it's so special that it will even protect the couples from any dangers so they can have a peaceful life full of pure love and bliss.

One more thing, the special watch chooses its owner, so the current one will naturally know when and to whom he must pass the watch to so it can keep helping people meet their fated partners.

After reading the story we both kept silence not knowing what to say or even how to react, the story I heart from my great grandfather was obviously true, at least half of it is, I expected it to be a horror story but it turned out to be a sad romantic story.

"I never would have thought that a pocket watch will actually have this history" I finally said

"it is really a special piece of antic, I wonder how many couple were united thanks to it"

"I'm sure a lot, well now that I know it's truth I'm more determined to keep taking care of it" I said standing up

"doctor" I looked to Gulf who was still sitting staring at me

"what?" he breathed once looking down glanced up to me again with a resolved look

"let's start dating" he blurted out making me freeze speechless

"wha-what?"

"I want us to become lovers, I want you to become my boyfriend" he kept saying with serious tone while blushing, I blinked not believing what I was hearing

"are you worried about me because of the bad luck of the watch? You don't have to force yourself to date me because of that I-" he jumped up facing me

"no!!! that's not it! I actually fell in love with you doctor! I can't deny that I was encouraged by this story and the meaning of the watch to confess to you but I already have fallen for you months ago or maybe even since the first time we met... I really love you doctor" he said still staring at me I could feel his nervousness, his embarrassment and seriousness... I can feel that he really meant every word,

"Gulf" I started looking down feeling sad and hurt not even having the courage to look to him

"I'm sorry"
