Mew's POV

Today is the same as every day, I woke up early, went to the hospital, did my tours, I was called for an urgent spine surgery so I had to stay a little over my shift, getting out of the hospital I breathed a few times, a clean air after almost 10 hours of work really felt good and refreshing, it was late evening as the sky started to turn light orange, I decided to go shopping at the near supermarket the return for my car.

I slowly walked ahead noticing a black new car parked not far from the hospital, it was so unusual since there was a parking lot close by on my right, the car has a dark smoked glass so I couldn't tell if there was anyone in it or not, I shrugged and continued walking the opposite way to the market, just when I was going to turn around the corner, I was met with a familiar man, I started at him for a moment before backing away

"oh, you are the fake boss from few days ago" he looked confused

"fake boss?"

"I thought you were the boss at first" it was the grey eyed man, we was serious and intimidating as always, he belongs to a mafia group after all

"anyway, boss wants to meet you"

"you mean that young boy from before or your real boss?"

"my only boss if Gulf Kanawut, the young boy you met"

"I see you are faithful"

"let's stop blabbering and get going"

"why?"

"I said the boss want-"

"if he wants to talk to me he should be the one coming to me not the way around" I said calmly watching him glaring

"boss is waiting for you in the car" he said holding back his obvious angry tone

"if he is here then let's go meet him" he glared again as he started walking, I was surprised to find that the black car belong to that boss, just when I arrived a door was opened

"Doctor Mew Suppasit, get in" I slowly got inside closing the door behind me, that man stood outside and started smoking

"I forgot to thank you for treating me last time" the young boy said putting away his phone, he stared at me as I stared back, I felt weird since last time but I can't read any emotion on his face, I can't feel if he is really grateful or not

"it's my duty as a doctor, no need to thank me" I said with a small smile, my usual one

"let me introduce myself properly, I'm Gulf Kanawut the first child of the Kanawut family"

"the famous mafia group"

"yes" he said still looking indifferent

"nice meeting you Gulf, well, you already know my name, I'm also the first child of my family, anyway I don't think you came all the way back here just for introduction and thanking right?"

"that's right, I came here to tell you to be my family exclusive doctor" I blinked a few time stunned

"tell me not asking"

"why would ask since I know you will surely accept"

"and why would I accept such offer?"

"because I asked you?" he said like it's an obvious thing

"look his young boss, just because you are from a famous mafia group doesn't mean that everyone will do anything you want... let me be clear, I refuse to be your family exclusive doctor, if you or any family member got hurt you are welcome to come here and get treated or to call me if you can't come" I stated seriously, just when I finished I noticed that he looked surprised with slightly wide eyes, he even stayed quiet for a minute.

"you... refuse?" he muttered, why is he so surprised, no, he looks more shocked I think

"yes I refuse and it's useless to argue about this because I won't change my mind" he was silent for another minute then I noticed a smile forming on his face, he eyes were little shiny, he chuckled getting closer to me

"you're really interesting Doctor Mew, no one has ever refused my request before"

"I'm honored to be the first" it was getting darker outside and the street lights are turned on one by one, the grey eyed man w still outside holding his phone

"if you don't have anything else I should go, I still have some shopping to do" I said ready to open the door

"you do shopping? I thought your family is rich" he asked stopping me as I glanced back

"I have my own place, the maid comes to clean everyday she offered to cook as well but I prefer cooking by myself, I enjoy cooking"

"you are so unique" he exclaimed with another smile, at that moment I felt myself reaching out to my pocket watch, I didn't even notice when I took it out, when I came to I was clenching on it

"that's a particular pocket watch you have" he said as glanced to him then back to the watch

"it's a family treasure, passed down from generation to generation, my great-grandfather gave it to me" I told him

"may I see it?" he reached his hand as I gave it to him with no hesitation and even thinking about it, he turned on the car inside light and admired the watch carefully holding it

"it's a very special piece of art, it is handmade and well kept"

"you noticed that? You're amazing... that's right that's why it became a family treasure"

"what about this carving? I don't recognize the language" he said pointing to the back

"I don't know, I asked my great-grandfather and he said it's a mystery that only the first owner knows it, I even tried checking all language from Japanese, traditional Chinese, Arabic and even Greek but no language match that"

"I love those kind of mysteries, may I take a photo of the back and search about it too"

"go ahead and if you find anything please tell me"

"I will, if you become my doctor"

"no" he chuckled snapping a picture then returning the watch as I put it back in my pocket

"it was nice talking to you doctor Mew, I will visit you again"

"to convince me to be your doctor?"

"maybe"

"no need to bother yourself coming here then because it won't happen"

"I will do my best to convince you then, you are really worthy of becoming the Kanawut doctor"

"thanks for the praise but you should forget about it" I said getting out of the car

"Doctor Mew!" he called me as I bend a little facing him

"let's meet again"

"you are so persistent high schooler" he chuckled as I closed the door, I glanced at the driver who glared and got inside, I watched as he drove away before quickly going to the market.

Gulf's POV

"he called me high schooler again" I murmured with a low voice looking at the picture in my phone

"boss? Did you say something?" I shook my head looking outside resting my hand on the door handle

"nothing" after talking to the doctor this much I find him more and more intriguing, not just his reaction but his behavior, his calm and normal self, he talked to me as if I'm some ordinary high school boy but at the same time he does recognize me as a young mature man not to mention his honesty and how he straightforwardly refused my request.

Not just the doctor, I also got captivated by the pocket watch he showed to me, if I could I would have asked him to sell it to me but it was obvious that he will refuse and maybe even get angry since he told me it's a family treasure, I getting more and more curious about the doctor's life and the secret behind the watch.

I asked David to do a background check on him and his family while I started searching about the carving on the watch whenever I had free time

"boss, I got all the information you need" David said getting into my office

"put them on the desk, let me finish those papers first" he bowed and left, well I didn't have time at all day to check the information so I could only do it when I was about to go to sleep

"28 years old, top medical student, a younger sister as old as me, it seem she's already married, his parents lives at a house on the other side of the city, his maternal grandparents are living in the countryside while his paternal grandparents are living abroad in china, his grandmother's home country, what else we have here... his father owns a successful development & technology company, I know this one, we worked with them once before to create a website for our product" I kept reading through all information

"oh, it seem he also dated a couple of time too, once during high school and once during early university years, well, I can guess why his relationship didn't last much, he is so serious about his work and it seem he was dedicated to his studies and focusing on becoming a doctor... huh?" I got surprised when I read that Mew got into troubles during high school for fighting with delinquents and gangs

"... so that's why he acted normally around me and was pretty strong" I put the papers aside and laid back on my bed after turning off the light

"now I'm more determined to get him... I will go visit him tomorrow" after reading all those information about him I got the urge to see him again, being so curious about someone after so many years really made me a little excited, I didn't even feel like this with my friends and cousin.

"good evening doctor Mew" I greeted the doctor who was on his way to his car, I was waiting for him for the past half hour since I didn't know when he will leave exactly, he surprising sighed unlocking his car and putting his bag then he faced me

"you again... last time your driver w following me around and today you appear"

"huh? My driver?" I glanced to David who quickly apologized

"I'm sorry boss, I thought he was a suspicious person and followed him all day"

"all the way back to my place" Mew finished after him

"next time make sure to tell me David"

"yes boss"

"anyway doctor Mew, today I want to invite you to eat dinner together, it's my treat"

"no thanks" I was stunned

"why? It's just dinner"

"I feel like you will use the dinner as an excuse to make me your doctor" I giggled

"no, no, don't worry, I don't use those silly tricks, just consider it as an invitation from a friend, he looked suspicious at first but then agreed

"let's exchange phone contact so I can send you the location of the restaurant where I made the reservation and you can catch up with your car"

"alright" I felt David shocked gaze on us since he knew I would never give someone stranger my private number. Once we got into the restaurant into our private room

"oh, where is your driver?"

"David is not just my driver he is my right hand man, he is outside eating dinner with his friend"

"then don't you think that all this food is too much for both of us?" he said glancing at the tall rectangular table full of different plats

"I think so too, but it was also David who ordered the food, don't worry we can take the rest back"

"alright" we starting eating

"oh the food here is so delicious"

"you've never been here before?"

"no, it's my first time and obviously won't be the last"

"I'm glad to know that doctor Mew" he looked to me for a minute making me confused

"what?" he sighed

"stop calling me doctor Mew when w are outside, P' Mew is fine, we are friends right?" I smiled widely, being recognized as a friend by this doctor felt good

"I'm glad you think of me as a friend P' Mew"

"you said it, an invitation from a friend" he smiled

"aren't you scared? Being approached by a mafia young boss" he looked confused

"is my reaction weird for you to ask that?"

"yes, I was avoided by many people who were afraid of me, no one before said no to me because they think I will do something bad to them"

"since I was a kid I was attacked by many bad people, gangs, mafia groups and even delinquents because of my father's work and wealth thus I got used to be around people like you, I know that mafia usually do dangerous work and have a suspicious business deals and all but I honestly don't care about that, if you try to hurt I will defend myself, if you want to be my friend, I will be your friend, that's all it matters" he stated looking nonchalant while he continued eating, I was speechless for a couple of minute, hearing that made me astonished by how calm and straightforward he is, I looked down my plate

"you have a wrong idea about mafia, maybe because of those who attacked you, but there are some good groups like us, all our business are legal and we never make any dangerous or forbidden deals, the only thing that makes us regarded as mafia is because we would use any means to ensure our family's safety and we get in many fights with the bad mafia who wants to destroy our business and family all together" I glanced up to find him listening attentively

"by any means like using guns during fights and all?"

"something like that, yes, but unfortunately others consider us as a dangerous threat, maybe they were influenced by what they see in movies, so we usually get avoided even by the police, it's rare to actually meet people like you P' Mew, that's why I wanted you to be part of my family as our doctor"

"I see... I understand... I said this before, I don't mind coming to your place to treat your family if anyone got hurt, I just want to continue working at the hospital and treat as much patient as I could, it was my dream since I was young and I want to put all my skills in saving human lives, it doesn't matter to be your doctor or not actually, we are friends already right?" I looked up to him with wide eyes, to be accepted by someone I've never met before was so pleasing and made me happy

"yes we are but I still won't stop persuading you to make you my family's exclusive doctor" he sighed

"give up already high schooler, you sound like a child who won't stop nagging his parents to buy him candy" he said jokingly

"I'm not a high schooler and I won't stop nagging"

"whatever, do what you want and I will keep doing what I want"

"let's see who wins eventually" we both giggled. I honestly enjoyed my time with him, I feel like an ordinary person with him and t feel new to me to be treated like that.

So I stopped and decided to speak about the watch tomorrow ^^
