Your POV
The year 2045
"Today class, we will be learning about the speakeasies that were used to serve alcohol, during the prohibition."
Sitting at my desk while looking at the electronic whiteboard in the front of the class, sighing gently. Turning my head to look out the window as the sun was shining and showing the warm colors of the trees that stood tall in the courtyard, giving them a glowing effect. Blinking gently for a moment, turning once more to the clock to see how much longer I had to bear this history class. Watching the clock tick away slowly while zoning out the rest of the class, it didn't take long until the bell rang for dismissal.
Getting up and collecting my things before following the swarm of students into the hall, deciding it was easier to go with the flow of the wave of students that were flooding out of the doors. All but shoving my way towards my locker as I got closer and closer to it, I was able to get to it before opening it after adding the code. Shoving the different books that I always spend my days carrying while I'm in the 8 hours of school, closing the locker after gathering the things I would need to take home with me.
Turning and facing the wave of students once more, waiting for an opening big enough for me to get into the wave without being trampled or slowing down the flow. Stepping into it and gaining the same pace as the rest while making my way to one of the close exits. Once I was out of the cool air of the school and was hit with the blinding light that was the closest star, squinting my eyes as I could feel the familiar sting. Breathing a small sigh from the now sudden heat that was outside, regretting not taking off my school jacket before stepping outside. Something that I often forgot to do even though the temp would always rise to toasty levels by the time school was released.
Making my way home as listening to the other students cheer and laugh while they made their way through the grounds to their respective hang-out spots or their homes. Something I never found myself doing, preferring to keep to myself and my studies. I did have a project to finish when I got home, being so close to the finished result that I could taste it.
Reaching my door after a few more minutes of walking, pushing it open, and sighing while throwing my school bag on a nearby chair. Walking over towards the plans that I had with the experiment I was currently working on all filled out, picking up a screwdriver to finish the few mounts that needed tightening before I could test the device.
Hearing the click while putting the two halves together, flipping it in my hand while gazing at the small device in my hands. Looking for something around the room, I sighed gently before grabbing my watch. Putting it on the table, and adding in the time I was wanting it to go to, pressing the button after, and watching the watch disappear and come back in its same spot. Putting down the time device, reaching over to pick up the watch. Pulling it closer for me to see it, I read the time. 16:43. Turning slowly to look at the clock on my way, reading it for a moment before smiling wide. 16:38.
"It works!"
Sitting on the couch with the sweet taste of victory on my tongue, sighing happily. Looking at the ceiling for a moment before I had an idea. With the device working since it skipped the watch five minutes into the future, I can send myself to 1931 and learn about the speakeasies first hand. Standing with a plan, gathering my things before picking up the device once more, making my way towards the outskirts of town as to not scaring anyone with popping up in the middle of town.
Once I got to the outskirts of town, drawing in a breath, pushing the button afterward, and closing my eyes for a moment. Looking around after the small sound of electricity fizzled away. Everything was looking mostly the same. Heading back into town as the thought of failing to jump to the past was crossing my mind. Hearing my feet against the ground while making my way back into town. Stopping after hearing the sound of a vehicle I wasn't able to recognize.
Listening for a moment before making my way around a corner of a building, my jaw dropping as there was a gazebo in the middle of the courtyard for the courthouse, one that was never there in my lifetime. Seeing a few pedestrians walk by wearing formal clothing. Stepping back behind the corner of the building and bringing a hand to my mouth. Standing there for a moment with pure shock on my face.
My device works, I'm actually here. Deciding that I would get some clothes that would help me blend in with the rest of the people, making my way towards the store, and doing my best to keep my eyes off of me. Finding a place I could get changed, stuffing my future clothes into my bag, leaving the area, and heading towards the gazebo in the courtyard. Stopping when I saw a lanky redhead in a vest and slacks taking measurements of the gazebo, tilting my head gently. Walking over to him, I spoke gently.
"May I ask what you're doing?"
Watching him jump a little and hit his head on one of the rungs for the small fence that was on the gazebo.
"Oh, I'm sorry, are you all right? I didn't mean to startle you."
Standing slowly while rubbing his head, turning to me for a moment. His brown eyes and freckled face looking at me.
"No, I'm all right. I suppose that's what I get for focusing on my projects so much."
"Are you sure? I can help after scaring you."
Looking at me for a moment before smiling gently, turning to look at the gazebo before turning back to me. Giving a small nod and a crooked smile. Nodding gently before looking up at the taller teen, smiling a little.
"Where should we get started?"

For those who don't know, I did write the numbers for the clocks in 24-hour format. So with it being 16;38 and 16:43 it goes to 4:43 and 4:38 in the afternoon. I hope this doesn't give any confusion for the story, since I'll most likely have any other times written in 24-hour format. I will add the regular 12 hour times for those who can't read the 24-hour format very well.
