Chapter Twenty Four - Transported
I dropped to the floor the urge of sickness hit me. I groaned sitting myself up next to Luke who looked the same. I covered my face.
"Whoa! What was all that about? If you ask me someone went over the top with the effect budget." Clyde commented
"I feel sick" Luke muttered
"Well do us a favour, if this is where they hand us the trophy, don't puke in it."
"Shut up, Clyde you're making me feel worse." My head lagged to the side. It felt like I had been teleported. I don't like being teleported. The first time it happened, I was sick for two weeks. Once I came round, i inspected where we are. Then turned to Luke.
" Is it me or are we not in the same place." I asked him.
"I think we've been teleported somewhere. These marking on the ground, their different and the ground is slightly shaking." I rested my hands on the floor and felt the subtle via rations. We were defiantly somewhere other than sold ground.
"I thought you were getting worried before?" I wondered to my brother, who's attitude had changed, though I was still concentration on the markings. Luke was right, they were different .
"Nah. Adrenaline hype. Nothin's happened to us. We're just stuck in this room waiting for that Grantham guy to get us." huh so that was the guys name, even that name gave me the creeps.
"I don't know Clyde, something's not right." The door opened and there were guys in helmets and all black waiting for us.
"Oh no, slabs" I muttered
"Finally! Are you going to do this properly? I like their style here." They grabbed my brother and then two came in for me and Luke.
"Clyde." I yelled a i was shoved into a crate with them and we were wheeled away. I sat myself up and took out my phone.
"I've got no signal you." Clyde had copied my actions
"Nothing battery's dead" Luke replied
"Katie?"
"Decent battery, no signal" I huffed in annoyance. Yes I was telling a white lie but if I told the truth I would then have to tell them why I had perfect reception and battery. Lying saved a conversation I didn't want to have.
"Oh, man the bucket! This is not good." Clyde stressed and I put my hand on his.
"Did you feel it back then? The floor was vibrating." Luke told my brother.
"What do you mean?"
"Very slightly, yes" I agreed with him, I had already come to the conclusion that it was ship of some sort, but other than that I needed to find some answers. What I would do for a sonic right now.
"Which mean?" Clyde asked still not getting it.
"We're not in combat 3000 anymore. We've been moved somewhere else." We came to a stop and heard that the slabs left.
"We've stopped. What were those things."
"Slabs. Nothing more than your basic slave drones. " I sighed. Luke started fishing in his combat armour
"What are you doing?" he pulled out a thin metal rod and made it into a hook.
"Oh, you are brilliant." I grinned as he unhooked the look. I kicked the door open and we got out.
"If you two have got any idea what's going on, I'd love to hear it." Clyde glanced at us, silently acknowledging that we were the bright sparks.
"I don't think we got into the world championships." Luke stated
"Who's there?" We heard someone ask.
"Did you hear that?" I wondered. We headed to one crate. Clyde unhooked it and we pulled it down, there was a girl about our age who looked like she'd been there for ages.
"Things are finally picking up." Clyde grinned and I rolled my eyes "What's your name?" he held his hand out to her and she took it being helped out.
"I'm Jen, who are you?"
"I'm Clyde" he grinned all doe eyed and Jen who pointed to us.
"I'm Kate and this is Luke." We heard more banging, clearly she wasn't the only one here.
"Come on Luke." I started opening the other crates. Like I thought we weren't the only teens that had been transported here.
"Clyde I think I've found you that clue." I looked over to Luke. He had found Lance, who looked very confused as to why three of the kids from his school were here.
"Lance! Look I don't want to freak you out, man but your Mum's been worrying about you." Clyde joined us in greeting him.
"We're not the only ones." I pointed to the others. We started talking with the other kids that were being held here.
"So we all played combat 3000 and all ended up here."
"Yeah, but from all over the place. London, Brighton, Manchester, Leeds and Inverness. Kids from all over the country must have been going missing. But how did we get here?"
"Simple." I said and everyone looked at me "Each combat 3000 is like the end of a spiders web. " I put my hands down and fingers separated. "Each line is connected to this big hub and we were teleported. But that takes up and enormous amount of power to maintain and use " I scratched my head.
"Wherever her is?" Jen rolled her eyes.
"More to the point who are they and what do they want with us." I mumbled.
"I played that stupid game again and again just to get to level 2. Then I end up in a crate. What's going on?" Lance asked. We heard beeping.
"Someone's coming." I said We all hid and waited. Jen snook out and pushed the slab inside the rest locked it.
"Just stick with me. I'll look after you." She grinned and Clyde looked slightly embarrassed, which made me amused. I would remind him of that later.
"Let's go take a look shall we." I ran out but was stopped by an almighty bang.
"Come on! Run!" Luke called. The alarms started going, clearly someone had realised that we were gone and that was a bad thing.
"Where the heck are we? Which way do we go?" Lance questioned panicking.
"This way." Luke stated
"Why that way." Clyde questioned us but would follow any way.
"Why not? Look if you want to get out of this alive. You stay close"
"Who put you in charge?" Jen asked me and I squared up to her.
"So you know about aliens and spaceships now do you. Oh please lead the way." I stepped aside and she shut up. "Didn't think so."
"When did the moon turn blue?" I stopped and looked at Lance. He was looking out of one of the spaceships window and he must have seen the earth.
"That isn't the moon." I rolled my eyes at Jen.
"I don't believe it. It can't be?" I sighed as everyone gathered to look at the earth below. I knew how beautiful it was. I had seen it loads of times. But I was different from them so I guess I couldn't be that annoyed.
"We are..." Clyde breathed
"I'd never thought it'd be so beautiful."
"We are a long way from home." They stared at it as I went and scouted ahead. When I came back they were talking. I put on my glasses and took a look at the wiring, if I could rewire a few things maybe I could get my answers or a way off of here.
"It's a trick, it's got to be we didn't fly anywhere."
"Have you not been listening?" I look up to them. "Gosh you humans can be very thick and dull. It's tiring sometimes."
"We were teleported." Luke reminded them.
"Yeah right, beam be up scotty." Jen scoffed
"Trust me, it's real." There was a loud gun shot. My head shaped in it's general direction and I jumped back up. "Off we go." I grabbed Luke's hand and we started running.
"If we're really in space, how are we gonna get away?" Lance asked
"He's got a point." Clyde replied
"We'll figure something out." There was a hiss and all of us grind to a halt . I scrunched up my nose in disgust.
"My warriors. Such fine warriors." The alien in front of us spoke.
"Gosh your breath really does smell. Have you heard of breath mints." I sassed, trying to stop my self from gaggin at the terrible breath.
"Kate I don't think now is the best time to be commenting on bad breath." Clyde hissed at me
"Well what do you expect me to say 'Take me to your leader.' and besides everyone here is scared enough for an army. Which reminds me..." I turned to the alien "Take me to your leader." I grinned We were escorted to another part of the ship.
"Nice one, Blondie. Take me to your leader, what about fighting our way out of here." Jen huffed, she was beginning to annoy me.
"Oh yes let's fight androids and aliens with guns. Or heres another idea be smart and get some answers first. Human's so insufferable." we were led to stand in front of a large computer screen.
"What are we doing here? All we did was win a game of laser tag." Clyde questioned and I took a hold of his shoulder.
"Oh, my sweet naive brother. I think there is something far much bigger at play."
"Maybe that's it. Maybe it's just another part of the game. Level Three." I turned around to them
"Okay, I love your optimism but if your name is not Luke or Clyde, don't speak."
"Silence. Behold your mistress."
