Chapter thirty Three - Survive First, Injured Later

Dad lead us through till we reached a door and he opened it first and peered through seeing if it was safe for us to go. He turned back as reopened the door carefully

"Be careful. Watch your step." We entered the stair well which had bits of broken ship occasionally blocking the way.

"It's rather Ironic but this is very much in the spirit of Christmas. Its a festival of violence. They say that human beings only survive depending on whether they've been good or bad. It's barbaric."

"Poppycock." I groan "That's rubbish. Christmas is a time of peace , thanks giving and spending time with loved ones. Even though this is becoming a ridiculous habit of his. How is it since your change of face you constantly get in to trouble this time of the year?" I turn back to my Dad.

"It's not like i go looking for trouble. Oh." he stopped and i looked over "We've got a host. Strength of ten. If we can mend it we can use it to fix the rubble."

"We can do robotics, both of us." Morvin declared

"We work on the milk market back on Sto. It's all robot staff." Foon added

"See if you can get it working. Lets keep looking." Dad helped me up , I stopped

"Hang on." I pulled the hem of my dress and fixed it into the belts do I could freely walk without trouble. "Better."

"Okay, watch your step." we carried on bus till we came to a bigger blockage.

"It's blocked." i SIGH

"So what do we do?" Dad asks

"We shift it." Astrid stated. I liked her can do attitude.

"I like her." I commented and Dad smiled at me

"Rickston, mr copper and you Bannakaffalatta. Look can i just call you Banna. it's gonna save a lot of time." Dad requested

"No Bannakaffalatta."

"All right then Bannakaffalatta theres a gap in the middle, see if you can get through. Move back Kate." I did.

"Easy, good." Bannakaffalatta chimed through just as a tremor it and I held on tightly to the railing but was still pushed back making me cry out because of my ribs

"This whole thing could come crashing down any minute." Rickston complained

"Oh Rickston. I can't remember did you get the message." Dad asked

"No. What message?"

"Shut it." he repeated my words and I groaned with laughter. Then Astrid slid through as well.

"Thing is, how are Mr and Mrs Fatso going to get through that gap?" Rickston sneered

"You make it bigger genius. I'm beginning to think you were dropped on your head when you were young and then to shut you up, give a silver spoon. Shut your gob and get moving." He scowled at me not that i cared.

---------

They were making the hole bigger, and it was enough for me to slip through with some help. I found another screen and called up to the bridge.

"Midshipman Frame. This is Katelyn, the Doctors daughter. What news have you got for us." I questioned .

"Katelyn. I've got live signs all over the ship, but they're going out one by one." he replied

"Oh that's no good. What is it? Are they loosing air?" I inquired

"No. Well I'm not sure, but it's the host. But it's something to do with the host." I turned back seeing the Von Hoff fixing the host and it switch off.

"Dad! The Host, they're dangerous!" I shout and he runs down I watched it unfold and turned back to the screen

"It's the hosts they've gone berserk. Can you cope up there?" I was helped further up before I could get a reply and there was a struggle with the von hoffs. Rickston refusing to help. I Saw a flare and grabbed it aiming at his head.

"Move it! Now! Or those sells you made earlier will mean nothing to your bottom line." He did as he was told and helpd out till everyone was through.

"Who the hell do you think you are little girl threatening me like that."

"I am the daughter of a time lord and the Queen Cleopatra of Egypt. I'm more than a little girl. I'm a Princess, show some respect." i stood taller and though he was older he cowered more. "Move." he did so and we made our way into another room

"Morvin look, food." Foon breathed

"Oh great someone's happy ." I heard ringing. Looking around then down i realised it was coming from me. I dug into my pocket and took it out. Clyde's name came up.

"Clyde?!" I exclaimed "Oh my god."

"Kate, are you okay?" his voice was worried

"Clyde what's the Date? What is the date with you? Right now?" I asked not answering his question.

"23rd of December, why?" I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Listen to me, You need to leave, right now, go, out of London, tell whoever will listen to leave right now before tomorrow."

"You're scaring me?" I moved away

"Good. Clyde..." I sigh closing my eyes

"I'm a day ahead of you. hundreds of miles above earth in a replica of the titanic and it's bad." I rested my head against the wall.

"How bad?"

"Well, currently I'm trying to work my way to the bridge with a handful of others. I have a fractured wrist, broken ribs, concussion and a beaten body because meteor rocks have become the iceberg of the 21st century. Take a wild guess."

"Are you gonna be okay?" his voice deepened and I didn't answer "Kate."

"50/50. Either way the Christmas curse strikes again. I wish I knew what to tell you and I wish this call wasn't so bleak."

"Katelyn." I turned to Astrid

"Look Clyde. i gotta go. I love you." i hung up.
