27. You Belong to Hydra

Becca lied awake in her small, rickety, metal bed, her bruises from the day were forming on her back, arms and legs. The Madam had worked her extra hard today. But her favorite person in the Red Room always knew how to make her smile.

"Why are you so disobedient!" The Madam yelled to Becca and she hit her again on the back.

Becca can't form a reply fast enough so Madam beats her again.

"Are you still hoping that your Mama will come save you?" The Madam spits out, laughing, "No one will save you. You belong to The Red Room. You belong to Hydra."

Becca sniffles, but stands up, getting back into the ballet formation with the other girls. They looked older than Becca, but they only looked older. Becca was the oldest, but because of her constant disobedience, she was never allowed to graduate like all the other girls.

When Becca and the other girls were done, she walked off into the hallway, she was greeted by her favorite doctor. His dark brown eyes looking down at her as he lifts her into his arms, "Darling what's the matter?" He asks softly, walking them into his office.

Becca smiles at her favorite doctor, but she shrugs, not wanting to burden him with her troubles of Madam B. "It's nothing, Doctor Demmy." She says quietly. Doctor Adam Sinclair was a Hydra Biochemist, he was raised in Hydra as well like Becca, so the two often were near each other. He helped her when he could. It wasn't often a Hydra scientist was kind, they were often cruel and heartless. But not Adam.

Adam raises his eye brow, giving Becca a knowing look as he sets her down ontop of his desk, sitting in his chair, "Really now." He questions, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair, "So Madam B isn't giving you trouble again?"

Becca hesitates, Adam always was able to read her like a book. He had known her since he was transferred to the Red Room many years ago, the small girl had forgotten how many years they'd known each other.

"She is." Becca murmurs quietly, "But i can handle it." She says proudly, holding her head up high.

Adam smiles softly, "I know you can, but i can talk to her." He offers.

Becca shakes her head, "N- No.. it's okay." She says quickly, "I don't want you to get into trouble because of me."

The doctor brushes a stray piece of hair from Becca's face, "I'll be just fine." He says, "Now, off with you. I know you have weapon training soon. And it wont be good if you're late." He says, ushering her out of his office.

"You'll see me later?" Becca asks, looking up at her favorite doctor as she stands outside the doorway to his office.

"It's a promise." He says, squatting down to meet her eyes, holding out his pinky. The small girl smiles back, taking his pinky in her own. The two shake their pinkies before the young girl rushes off.

Becca looked seven, but in reality she was older then everyone other than the man with the metal arm who had been sent to help the girls train in the Red Room. Training to become spies, deadly assassins. Becca was smart, she picked up talents and skills quickly, which proved her well while training. She quickly learned Russian and multiple other languages, learning types of combat and weapon mastery as well.

But Becca never wanted to become that. All she wanted was to be reunited with her Mama.

Whenever The Madam would be upset with Becca's performance and attempt to beat her as a punishment, the man with the metal arm stops her. Protecting Becca somehow.

The small girl couldn't figure it out, but she intended too.

Her left wrist was handcuffed to the bed post so she couldn't escape, but Becca had been here long enough to know how to break the handcuff without any suspicion from her higher ups.

She managed to get out of the bedroom where all the girls were kept in during the night, sneaking off to where she knew the man with the metal arm was kept.

When she reached the door, she peered up through the window of the door on her tiptoes, she doesn't know why she hasn't aged in over seventy years of being alive, she just knows she's frozen at the age of seven.

She picks the lock to the door of the metal armed man's room, opening it quietly as she can, seeing him restless in his sleep.

His hair was long and messy, he was shirtless and she saw the scars of the metal arm on his shoulder. Her curiosity got the better of her and walked over, closer to the man who put so much fear into everyone except her. She didn't know why, but she felt safe in his presence. Knowing he'd protect her from The Madam.

"металлический человек." She speaks in Russian quietly as a mouse to the man, placing her hand on his flesh arm.

The man's eyes snap open, scared, he grabs whoever woke him by the neck, hearing a small, high pitched gasp, he looks down at the small girl he had always protected. He immediately lets her go, bending down to look her over. He can already see a bruise forming around her neck the shape of his hand. Guilt eats away at him as she catches her breath.

"маленький." The man states, moving the hair out of her eyes, noticing they're the same vibrant blue as his own. He noticed during his time here that the girl had a lot of similarities to him.

Becca coughs, "I'm alright." She murmurs quietly. The man sighs in relief, but still on edge.

"Why did you come here?" He asks her, moving to sit on his bed, he picks up the girl with ease, setting her down next to him.

"I wanted to know why you always protect me from The Madam.." Becca wonders, looking up at him, she sees his face, it's familiar to her, but she can't figure out why. She never knew her Papa, her Mama had told her that he and her Uncle Stevie had gone to a better place.

The soldier hesitates, "I don't know why." He mutters back, "But i do know that i feel protective of you." He explains.

Becca nods slowly, "Mmm." She hums in response, still trying to put a name to his face, she knows his face. It drives her crazy to not remember where she's seen the Metal Man's face before.

"Why are you here, in the Red Room?" The solider asks, most girls that come here were either sold or kidnapped.

Becca sighs, "I was taken from my Mama and Uncle Howie." She mutters in reply.

"Your Mama?" He asks.

Becca's face lights up, "Yup. My Mama is the best in the world. She takes care of people and i help." She states, causing the man to chuckle in her sudden mood change, he had learned the girl liked to talk about her mother.

"And your Papa?" The man asks.

Becca then shrugs, "I have never met him. Mama says he and my Uncle Stevie went to a better place before i was born."

The man hesitates as he hears Becca talk about her Papa and someone named Stevie. The name she spoke of sounds familiar to him, but his mind is so scrambled that he can't figure out where he knows that name.

"What's your Mama's name?" The man asks, he likes getting to know the young girl.

"Mary. My Mama's name is Mary." Becca replies, then gasps when she looks at the metal man's face again, finally remembering where she's seen it before.

She'd seen it in pictures. Pictures with her Mama and who she was told was her Uncle Stevie. With all her Uncle Commandos. With Aunt Peggy and Uncle Howie.

The metal man in the pictures in her Uncle Howie's home always looked so happy, smiling at Becca's Mama in each picture Becca had seen before she was taken.

But the man in front of her was not the same man, he had changed, he was colder, he had a metal arm.

The man she's talking to is her Papa, she just doesn't know how.
