Chapter 12: Reyna
I heard the steps crack and and I didn't look up, but I could tell that Nico was descending the stairs. He walked over to me.
"You read?" He asked me, almost excited.
"Yes. You?" I said. Not really interested. He didn't seem the type to be interested in books and literature.
"Not much. " He said . I sensed a shift in his posture, and could tell he was lying, but I didn't pry.
"That's too bad. I love it." And I did. Reading was something I did often in my free time.
Cursorily, he asked what book I was reading. I explained about the book a little bit.
"Sounds cool." He said casual. I wondered if he had heard of it before.
I heard a noise outside our window. I tensed. Making sure not to alert our spy knew I knew he was there, I alerted Nico in a different language we knew mutually.
"Dove?" He asked. Where in Italian.
I pointed to the window with my head and he nodded. After reassuring me he'd go take care of this spy. He shadow traveled away. Trusting he could take care of this himself, I sank back into my comfortable couch, and continued my book.
After ten minuets, Nico came stomped into my house, slamming open the door. He made his way up the stairs. Will following him, pleading about stuff that I had no business in caring about. He slammed the door.
Normally if a scene like this happened, I would make the people come back and close the door carefully. I don't want my house ruined. But, It was obvious Nico was having a rough day. I decided to let him off the hook.
Once again, I returned to my book.
.............................................................
Shouts started to boom from up the stairs, in the guest room.
"YOU BROKE MY HEART! YOU DESERVE YOURS TO BE BROKEN AS WELL!" I couldn't tell if it was Will or Nico.
"I'M SORRY? OKAY?!" This was diffidently Will.
"IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT?! I LOVED YOU, AND I NEEDED YOU! YOU LEFT ME!" Nico this time.
I tried to tune them out but it got unbearable. No more missus nice girl.
I stormed up the staircase and slammed the door open. Nico was in tears, yelling at Will. He cut himself off and I entered. I was mad. I wanted to read, and they were bugging me. Will hadn't even asked me to enter my house.
"SHUT UP! THIS IS MY HOUSE, MY RULES!" They both looked at me, eyes wide.
"NOW BOTH OF APOLOGIZE!" I sounded like a mother.
They complied, and without looking at each other, they mumbled apologies.
"Solace, get out of my house." I ordered. He got up, and shot out of the room. A moment later I heard the door to my house close hurriedly.
Nico looked at me, almost thankful. "What's the matter with you two?" I ask, softening my gaze.
Nico scowled, but gave it up. "Well... " He sighed. "Will broke up with me last month. Apparently Nyssa, his new girlfriend broke up with him, and he wants to get back together." He admitted.
"Okay. Now can you tell me why he was snooping around my house?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
Nico's face turned beet red. He looked down at his feet. "He.... Uh...." He almost whispered. "He thought we were a thing."
I nodded, understanding. "Well, you can work things out with him later. Lets get started in the kitchen. Stillia is coming over soon."
Stillia Verner was a special something. Her mother, Iris, brought her to camp herself via Rainbow. She was a very strong demigod, and could control Light, bending it into different colors. She and Thalia were great friends, and Stillia had said she might want to be a Hunter in the future.
Stillia was very powerful and attracted lots of monsters, so she was a all-rounder at camp. She was nice and all, but she was a big trouble maker. Throwing huge parties, and causing big pranks. The Stoll brothers look up to her like she's a goddess or something. She's really good with music too, she's often the DJ at her parties, bending the lights to spotlight certain people. She's really popular. Her house was just down the street from Percy's.
Nico got up and I followed him out of the room, and down the stairs.
We worked in silence, lost in thought. After about an hour of just cooking we sat down on the couch.
"Reyna?" Nico asked me.
"Di Angleo?" I answered.
"This seems to be a lot of food for just You, Stillia and I."
I nodded, completely serious. "Stillia said she was bringing a few friends. She wasn't specific." Nico got a worried look on his face and I smiled.
Getting up, I asked Nico if he was bored.
"Not really." He said.
"I'm going to go and get a book to read, want one?" I asked.
When Nico looked up, there was different look in his eyes, one I had never seen before. He nodded, and got up to follow me.
We went up the stairs, and opened the library door.
Nico picked a random book off a shelf, and walked downstairs. I picked up Hunger Games, and followed Nico. We sat back down on the couch.
"I thought you said you didn't like to read?" I asked.
He just rolled his eyes and said: "I can change my mind you know." He blushed.
I smiled.
.................................................
We read for a while. I looked at the clock after about three hours. "Nico! They'll be here in ten minuets!" We both set our books aside, and jumped up to set up dinner. We heated up the food and set the table. I didn't know how many friends Stillia was bringing, so I set extra dishes to the side. It all looked delicious.
A minuet later, there was a knock on the door. I opened it, and saw Stillia standing there. Every single Hunter of Artemis stood behind her.
"So. Can we come in?" She asked.
