Chapter 8

Alex nodded, his brain was still getting the fact that Mia was a whole new different person.

"I knew it! Where?" Mia's eyes widened with curiosity.

Alex cleared his voice as he remembered this wasn't Sophie but some other girl.

    "At the airport." Alex frowned.

"Airport?" Mia scrunched her nose. "Wait," She went closer to him. "You're that guy from the airport that..." She gasped loudly, she was stunned. She finally remembered. The crazy lunatic who ran after her.

"Hi." Alex smiled at her. "Don't get too alarmed Mia I just —"

"What, what did you just call me?" She took two steps back. "How do you know my name?" Mia frowned at him. "You're not, you're not stalking me are you?" Mia asked suspiciously.

"No no. I didn't know you'd be here, it's just a coincidence." Alex told her.

"How do you know my name? Is that a coincidence too?" Mia eyed him. "You're lying." She shook her head.

    "I'm not." Alex smiled.

  "Then how?"

"Your flight ticket. You bumped into me at the airport, we accidentally switched tickets, you took my spot and flew first class, I tried to reach out to you but we ended up stumbling on each other, you kneed me in my area and then you started yelling out that I was a crazy lunatic." Alex explained everything to her.

Mia blushed after knowing she was totally at fault. "Oh." Mia bit her lip.

"Oh?" Alex smirked, seeing her turn pink.

"Oh meaning sorry, I'm so sorry." She laughed nervously. "So then you're Alex MidWest right?" Mia had a small smile on her face.

"Well yes." Alex faked a small frown. "You do know first class is very expensive." Alex said to her.

"Mr MidWest, I know an apology can never be enough for the horrible thing I said. I mean calling you a lunatic in public. Believe me I am deeply sorry for humiliating you in such manner, it was so insensitive of me. Is there any way we can reach a compromise?" Mia didn't want him to sue or file a report.

Alex shook his head... "No.  Do you know the gravity of what you did? I had to go to the hospital to check if this," He pointed to his crotch area. "Was harmed in the process." That was only a lie.

Mia looked away for a while, staying silent. "Mr MidWest," She looked back at him, batting her lashes. "I'm deeply sorry."

Alex thought she looked cute. "You said something about a compromise. I'm willing to put the past behind since it's been almost more than two weeks and besides, I don't really care about the first class ticket." Alex nodded.

"What is it you want?" Mia asked him.

"Let's have dinner together at—" Alex is interrupted.

"That I can't do. Anything but that." Mia's eyes threatened to roll. Of course, why didn't she think he'll want to take advantage of the situation.

"Why? Are you afraid I'll kidnap you? Or kill you. I'm a decent man Mia. I just want us to talk." Alex really hoped she would agree.

"No and that's final." Mia didn't plan on going anywhere with the stranger. "And stop calling my name as if you know me."

"Mia." He chuckled, making Mia roll her eyes. "You look a lot like someone I knew."

"Whoever that person is, we're different." Mia finally rolled her eyes.

Alex nodded. She was right, this Mia girl was nothing like Sophie.

"I want to be able to contact you. Nothing personal." Alex said to her.

"Then visit me at Van's Event. There's an exception, that's when you want me to plan an event and party." Mia opened her purse, handing him Van's business card. "Other than business, count me out."

"Hmmmm, an event planner. Cool." He said, studying the card. "You still owe me though." Alex looked at her.

"I know. I'll make it up to you but no dinner, lunch or breakfast. And no brunch." Mia told him plainly.

"Hey, I'm the one to dictate and not you so—" Alex is cut off as Mia hugged him.

"Thanks for not suing me. Thanks a lot." Mia said to him, feeling a little relief.

Alex is totally caught off guard as Mia had given him an unexpected hug. It felt so strange but yet he also could feel a connection to this Mia girl, he hugged her back. Mixed emotions of sadness and content flooded his memories that he hugged her even tight.

Soon, Mia broke apart, giving him a smile. "I think you're likable." Mia nodded.

Alex laughed... "I'm likable believe me."

Alex helped her with the heavy table. They were able to get it into the truck.

"Thank you so much Mr MidWest." Mia was very grateful he helped out.

"No no, just call me Alex. I'm glad I helped." Alex grinned. "I'll leave you to do the rest." He said, turning to leave.

"Um wait!" Mia called him back.

"Yeah?" He looked back at her.

"Well I was thinking, how did you recognize me so easily?" Mia asked him. She was wondering how he could still remember her face.

He shrugged... "Let's just say my short term memory registered your face into my long term memory." Alex heard her laugh. "But like I said, you remind me of someone so your face is kinda hard to forget." He told her and she nodded. "Bye." He winked at her before leaving.

"Bye." Mia found herself smiling as she watched him leave.

Some minutes later, Julia walked in squealing with excitement.

"What's with all the excitement?" Mia asked Julia who couldn't stop looking at her phone.

"I had just taken a selfie with a celebrity!!" Julia jumped.

"A celebrity? Who?" Mia asked her.

"You know that movie called From me to you? " Julia asked Mia.

"Yeah." Mia remembered the movie vaguely.

The movie was all over the internet and was ranking top at box office. Truthfully, she thought the film was overhyped for nothing, there wasn't really anything going on in the movie but Mia was the only one that thought so.

"Remember the really really really cute, hot, sexy, mouth watering leading man? His character was Percy?" Julia's eyes opened wider.

"I know Percy but I can hardly remember his face." Mia shook her head.

"Mia." Julia whined. "The one I kept on dreaming about?" Julia shook her head. "No?" Julia sighed. "Anyway, look!" Julia gave her phone to Mia.

Mia wasn't expecting to see Alex in the picture. She was actually looking for another person but it was just Julia and Alex.

"Is... Is he the one?" Mia gaped. She was too shocked.

"Handsome, I know right!" Julia giggled like a child who was going on a piggy back ride.

"No. Way." Mia blinked at the screen. "He's the guy starring in from me to you?  No joke?" Mia couldn't possibly believe she was talking to a big star all the while.

"Why would I be joking? I'm gonna post this on my Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat... All the social media I'm on. I bet everyone's gonna be jealous that I took a selfie with Alex MidWest, ha!" Julia said to herself, walking away with her phone.

Mia stood while her brain was blank without words. He was Percy? She was really surprised and amused. To be sure, she decided to Google his name on her phone.

Mia immediately opened up his Wikipedia page...

Alex MidWest is an American race car driver and actor, popularly known for his leading role as Percy Merchant in the movie from me to you. Other films starring Alex MidWest....

Mia scrolled down, mentally reading everything.

"What?! He starred in Game on fire?! " Mia placed her hand over her mouth. He wasn't just any star, he was an A-list star!

   Partner: Natalie MacDonald.

     "Wow." Mia was really impressed.
.....................................................

"Good morning beautiful people!!" Bee yelled out loud while walking into the living room.

"It's too early for nuisance Bee." Dony cautioned her.

"The sun is up, the Monday is glittering with opportunities and I feel more vibrant. Can you smell that?" Bee asked Dony who was obviously watching a movie on the TV.

"Muffins?" Dony turned to Bee. "Yeah I do." Dony nodded.

"Not muffins." Bee sniffed the air. "It's the smell of freedom, that's right! Freedom." Bee was grinning.

"Looks like you woke up on the right side of the bed. What's your deal?" Dony asked her.

"My deal?" Bee scoffed. "I just had a sexy dream about Alex. We were having sex in the bathtub, not just any sex, hot sex." Bee flinged her hair carelessly.

"There you go again with your repulsive thinking. You're so gross Bee." Dony shifted her attention back to the TV.

"Just say you're jealous because you're just a freaking nerd girl who has never had orgasms before." Bee teased her sister.

"It's better than dreaming of someone who's with all conviction, screwing his girlfriend in reality while you're here dreaming of the impossible to come." Dony raised her brow.

"I bet Jacob is hotter in bed, why don't I find out for you." Bee smirked knowing that she's got Dony's attention.

Dony rolled her eyes. "You're too steamy for him. He's more like a gentle angel." Dony shook her head.

"Nothing I can't handle, but don't worry, keep your boytoy. I don't do boys, I'm more like the men girl." Bee blew a kiss to her. "Hey, are the lovebirds up yet?"

"I haven't seen them." Dony looked back at the TV, the same time Ryan showed up from the grand stairs.

"Good morning girls." Ryan greeted the sisters. He was dressed in his usual.

     "Morning." Dony smiled at him.

"Leaving so soon." Bee folded her arms.

"Yeah. It's urgent." Ryan nodded, leaving for the entrance door.

Bee made her way to the kitchen, she noticed that someone was already there. It was a woman, maybe late thirties. Bee recognized her, it was the caretaker Tara.

     "Tara." Bee called her.

"Oh Bee," Tara looked at her. "Breakfast would soon be served, don't worry." Tara smiled.

Tara took care of the house— cleaning, cooking, most of all the chores, in fact, she lived in the house with Ryan.

"Your muffins smell great." Bee smiled at her.

"Oh." She walked closer to Bee. "Give this a try." She said, holding out a muffin in her hand.

Bee took a big bite, nodding. "Mhmm, really delicious." Bee gave her a thumbs up.

The rain kept pouring lightly  from the sky while Ryan sat at the backseat of his black Mercedes G63 AMG armored limousine, going through the newspaper. Him and his driver were stuck in traffic.

He sighed... "Do you think the rain's gonna keep increasing?" Ryan asked his driver, Rufus.

    "I'm not sure." Rufus answered.

Ryan turned to his side window, watching the pedestrians. The car moved toward a little and someone caught his eyes.

She was under her umbrella wearing a black overcoat. Ryan watched the lady tuck her caramel blonde hair behind her ear, he didn't take his eyes off her because she was the one he's been looking for.

Ryan is about to open the door when Rufus stopped him.

"Sir, where are you going?" Rufus asked him.

Ryan turned to him... "No where." Ryan turned back to his window. He kept looking at her.

"You could ask her in, if that's what you want." Rufus noticed Ryan's intense gazing at the lady.

Ryan backed away, leaning into the seat.

"Do you know her?" Rufus asked him. "You were staring intently."

Ryan shook his head. "She just reminded me of someone that's all. The resemblance is so striking." Ryan said to Rufus. He didn't want to scare off the lady, he just had to wait a little longer. Sooner, they were gonna meet.

Ryan walked into his office, he had a lot of things to do. He was going to the factory to inspect the work going on and then the project in California was still hanging, he needed to find a committee that would head the project.

Olivia entered his office. "I've got the profile you asked me to look into for you." She told him.

He nodded, collecting the file from her. "Have you gotten competent people for the committee? Time isn't on our side. Once everything in the branch is set, I want all hands on deck." Ryan told her.

"I'll send you the profile of some of our staffs from different department before today runs out." Olivia nodded positively.

"David's gonna submit his resumé, make sure to bring it to me." Ryan said to her.

"David? Which David?" Olivia wasn't sure who he was talking about.

"David of Monaco." Ryan eyed her. "That won't be a problem, would it?" He asked her, given that Olivia and David had a history.

Olivia straightened her glasses, shaking her head. "Not at all."

  Ryan nodded slowly... "Good."

Olivia exited his office, leaving Ryan to check the file she had brought. Ryan opened the file, scanning through it.

Andrew Petereli, a photographer, he owns a work studio at blah blah blah...

Ryan wasn't interested in most of these things Olivia had gotten on the man. He didn't find any useful information, he closed the file. Taking in a deep breath, he remembered the lady he saw earlier. Just then his phone on the table rings out.

"Yeah?" Ryan tapped his phone for the loud speaker. It was Alex calling.

     "Are you at the office?"

"Obviously yes." Ryan resumed whatever he was doing before Olivia had entered.

"I'm coming up." Alex said to him.

"Hey hey, you're in the building?" Ryan leaned against his chair.

"Yes. There's something we need to discuss and it can't wait."

"Alex I'm busy okay, we'll talk later." Ryan said to Alex.

"I just told you it can't wait."

   Ryan sighed, "Okay."

Alex headed into Ryan's office in less than three minutes.

"You know you can't always show up here without my consent. There are protocols to follow before you see me." Ryan said to Alex who was walking towards the table.

"Yeah yeah yeah." Alex rolled his eyes, taking his seat across the table. "Just stop talking and listen to me."

"Save me the drama and say what you have to say." Ryan lifted a paper.

"You missed out a lot at Leon's wedding." Alex started talking.

"Mhm," Ryan nodded seeming not too interested. "Layla told me everything."

"Oh. And another thing, I met someone too." Alex said to him.

"Alex, if you came to discuss about Leon's wedding, I'm not interested in listening to it and please leave. You're making me lose focus." Ryan didn't look at Alex.

"Won't you ask me who I met?" Alex frowned.

       "Who?" Ryan was clearly uninterested.

"I met Mia, Mia Simpsons." Alex waited for Ryan's expression to change but nothing. "Didn't you just hear what I just said?" Alex asked, raising a brow.

Ryan scoffed... "Am I supposed to know who that is?" He was sarcastic.

"Actually yes." He took out his phone from his pants pocket, he tapped on the screen four times and showed it to Ryan. "Here."

Ryan looked at the phone reluctantly but then he frowned, taking the phone out of Alex's hand.

"Where did you get this?" Ryan didn't take his eyes off the photo.

"On Saturday, at the wedding. She was there." Alex smirked, he had gotten Ryan's attention.

Ryan licked his lip, and was silent for some seconds only concentrating on the photo.

"That's Mia. Mia Simpsons. Trust me, I got all her details. I don't have a million dollar face for nothing." Alex chuckled.

Ryan rolled his eyes at him. "You're in the Hollywood entertainment industry, don't be too surprised."

"I am. She didn't even recognize that fact." Alex shrugged.

"What else? What else did she say? Did you get to talk to her? What did you find out? Did she give you her contact? Did—" Ryan is instantly interrupted.

"Okay buddy, slow down will you? First of all, we didn't get too familiar. Second, she didn't accept any of my invitations. She gave me this," Alex pulled out a business card from his pocket and handed it over to Ryan.

"Van's Event?" Ryan reads the heading.

"That's where she works. Mia's an event planner." Alex enlightened Ryan.

Ryan placed the card on his table and looked at Alex. "Is there a way you could find out everything about her? Without anyone knowing of course." Ryan asked him.

"Sure. I can do that. What do you want me to do?" Alex asked him, leaning his elbow on the table.

"Whatever you can get on her, I want to know." Ryan said to him.

"Okay then." Alex nodded. "Ryan, once you meet her, what do you intend to do?"

"Leave that to me." Ryan told him.
