Chapter 4: Searching

"Stamper, Stanley, Stanton, Stark," I'm reading in my mind. Come on, there has got to be a Stephenson somewhere. I know there's a Stephenson somewhere in here. I just have to keep on looking.

"Steamer, Steeler, Steerman, Stephenson," I read in my mind. My eyes glue to the spot where I read "Stephenson." My fingers trace the books labelled with that author's surname. "How to Lie Easily, Easy Ways to Cover Up Blood, How to Look like a Vampire," I read.

This library sure has some pretty funny books in here. "Murderers will love the first and second book," I think to myself. Eventually, I find the book that may have the answers that I'm looking for.

"Antidotes to Time Realm Deaths by Laura Stephenson," I read. This is it. This is the book that she was talking about in the other one about time realms in general. I immediately open it and, looking at the table of contents, I go immediately to the part where it talks about antidotes. I flip to page 45, and I start to read.

"There are many types of antidotes to these deaths. each antidote varies with each type of death. In terms of the time realms crashing and malfunctioning, then you would have to-," I read.

Not what I was looking for. I'm trying to find out how to resurrect someone from a heart injury. It's got to be in here somewhere. After tracing my finger down for a while, I finally found the antidote I was looking for.

"How to Reverse Self Inflicted Death," it read. That's what I was looking for. I scroll down a bit slower to catch the certain cause of death I was looking for. This author really knew her stuff. Everything was detailed and everything was shown step by step.

Eventually, I got to the part about self inflicted stabbing wounds. "In order to resurrect the dead individual, you need one cup of water from the holy Vivre River, a root of hair from the person who shall resurrect the individual, and a generous sprinkling of ground leaves from the Zinda Tree," I read.

These are really interesting names, and they sound a lot like French and Hindi names. I keep on reading the antidote formula.

"These two natural features are very distinct and recognizable. The water from the Vivre River is a natural healing source for any kinds of wounds. If you stick a cut finger into that water, then the cut shall be sealed, cleaned, and healed. There is almost always sap running from some sort of gash in the Zinda Tree. If the sap tastes like vanilla with a minty aftertaste, then the tree is the Zinda tree," it reads.

That actually sounds really delicious, not going to lie. It sounds like a really fancy candy or dessert. And it sounds amazing.

"Mix the three together, and you should have your resurrection solution. From there, there are two ways you could go with this. If you have the body of the individual, then you can just pour the concoction into their wounds. However, if you don't have the body, then things can get a bit tricky. If you have something that belonged to the individual, then things will get a lot easier. Dip the belonging into the concoction, and place it in between the petals of the Levande flower. If you are worried about the belonging being destroyed, then don't be. The concoction is safe and won't harm anything. There is usually an enormous bed of Levande flowers growing near the Zinda tree. They're easy to recognize as the petals are a unique shade of magenta. Then, you should be good to go," the book reads.

I lean back a little bit. I don't have anything that belonged to Gabriella. This isn't going to be easy without anything that belonged to her.

"If you know where the body last touched the land in the realm, then you can skip the flower step. Place the possession in the approximate area of the body and pour the concoction around the possession. The person shall resurrect, and you will have your individual back," the book reads.

I slam it shut immediately. I'm really frustrated at this point. I don't have ANYTHING to help resurrect Gabriella at this point. No hairs, no jewelry, no clothes, nothing. I'm at a dead end here. Now, I'm starting to doubt whether I can resurrect her or not. Regardless of that, I check both books out and take them home.

When I get home, I just continue my routine and I go to bed. When I fall asleep, the usual unusual dreams start to play. Then, all of a sudden, I'm in this big field on top of a hill.

It's not a high hill, but there's a lovely view of my surroundings. I can see a flowerbed made up of magenta flowers, and I can see a tall, willow- like tree not far from the hill. I smile. The view is absolutely gorgeous, and the nature is to die for.

I sit down, and when I balance myself, I feel a cold chain in my hands. I lift my arm up, and there's a beautiful pendant in my hands. It's a pendant with black angel wings, and feathers are on the angel wings. On the back of the pendant, there are letters engraved in it. The name, "G. Briseno," is engraved in the back of the pendant.

This is it. This belonged to Gabriella. She has great taste in jewelry honestly. This is a beautiful necklace. Suddenly, a hole starts to form beneath my feet in the hill. The land beneath my feet suddenly disappears, and I fall into this mysterious hole. The hole seems practically endless, until I feel my feet hit something sturdy, yet soft at the same time.

The moment my feet hit the ground, my eyelids shoot open. Everything is blurry at first, and then I wipe my eyes with my left hand. I sit up, and I realize that it's the weekend. I look over at the clock near my bed, and it reads 9:43. Time to get up, I guess. I lift my arms up out from under the covers to stretch, and I find something in my hand.

In my hand is the exact same black-wing pendant that I had held in my dream. When I saw that pendant, happiness started to fill up inside of me. I could finally try my best to resurrect Gabriella back. I am celebrating internally, and then my stomach growls. I realize that I haven't eaten, so I go down to eat some breakfast.

In the evening, I get the informational book on time realms to find out how I can get to the time realm to save Gabriella. I open the book, and I go to the chapter where it says "How to Enter a Time Realm." I start reading, and I find the instructions to enter the time realm.

"To enter the time realm of your wish, you must have a clock with you of some sort. It can be a stopwatch, a clock you hang, or even the time on your phone screen. Press your finger on the time that it displays, and then say the time in any foreign language. If you want to access someone who was in the time realm, say their name immediately after. If someone you know has been in the time realm, then you say their name immediately after," the book reads.

I close it, grab my phone, and I grab the pendant that belonged to Gabriella. I wrap the chain around my hand so that I don't lose it. I grab my phone, enter the password, and it redirects to the home screen. I press my finger on the area where the time is displayed. This is it. I'm about to bring back Gabriella to life. Anything can happen, and anything can go wrong.

But, I don't think about. All I think about is Gabriella and her face when she sees that I resurrected her.
