Chapter 5 (Hazel PoV)
(Author's Note: Yay, I have completed another chapter, time period suggested by Reyna_Is_Da_Best. Thanks for being a wonderful writer and reader. Also...
HOW. DO. I. HAVE. 32. FOLLOWERS. AND. 134. VIEWS. ALREADY. I just got started! Well anyway, thanks for following!)
Ugh.
That flash whenever they time traveled was really blinding. Hazel made a mental note to close her eyes the next time someone pressed the button, not that it would do her any good. You could probably see it through your eyelids. She scanned his surroundings. It seemed she was standing beside a large house with lots of embellishments, though she didn't know what era it was from. She smiled. Maybe Annabeth could tell me, once I find her, she thought. She looked at her clothes. Maybe that could help her figure out where they were. Or rather, when they were, though Hazel was sure they weren't in New York anymore.
She glanced at the skirt of her dress. Wow, it was really wide but not from petticoats. There was this thing holding it up underneath, like scaffolding. Long sleeves, high collar... the Victorian Era? But the place she was didn't seem like London or any English town. Suddenly, a person bumped - no, slammed into her from behind. "Oh my gods, who are you?!" Hazel got ready to judo-flip whoever bumped into her. Annabeth had been teaching her.
Speaking of Annabeth...
"Oh my gods, I'm so sorry Hazel," Annabeth breathed, hastily apologizing to the younger girl. "Are you okay?" "Yep, I'm fine." Hazel assured her as Annabeth fussed over her. "Where's everyone else?"
"Over there." Annabeth gestured to a building a fairly long distance from where they were. "Let's go."
As they walked towards the rest of the squad, Hazel asked Annabeth, "So, when and where are we, exactly?" "I don't have any idea on the 'where' part, but I think we're in the Civil War era." Annabeth said.
"Hm. can you make any guesses on what state based on the surroundings?"
"I don't know. We could be in any American city in any state."
"Agh, we're so lost!" Hazel threw her hands up in frustration. "Anybody have a map!?"
(Author's Note: Yes, I know it's DEH. I allow lyric chains. Back to the story now.)
Silence. Guess no one cared, or they literally didn't have a map. Well then. Annabeth and Hazel continued walking in silence. In her mind, Hazel berated the author for making them walk so far. No wait, it was writer's block's fault. She revised her thoughts and wondered if the readers knew what she was thinking.
(Author's Note: I cracked the fourth wall. Equipment for fixing it at the end of this chapter.)
Lost in her thoughts, Hazel didn't see the tree in front of her until she walked into it. Not exactly the best thing that happened to her that day. "OW!" she screeched, almost falling over.
(Author's Note: Poor Hazel ;-; Please donate food to make her feel better)
Luckily, Annabeth was there to steady her. "Oh gods, that's the second time you bumped into something/someone. Are you okay?" Annabeth queried, clearly concerned about her friend. "Chill, Annabeth, I'm all good!" Hazel said. How much longer till they reached everyone else?
~timeskip of five minutes because I'm lazy~
"You're all ok? No harm?" Frank confirmed. Everyone nodded. "Good," he said.
In the five minutes that had passed since Hazel's run-in with the tree, they had:
-been reunited (with much relief on everyone's part)
-asked someone where they were under the pretense that they had just moved there (the person, a black guy holding a paper about the Civil War or something) and found out they were in Boston, Massachusetts
(Author's Note: Hint: It's someone from Magnus Chase.)
-come to the conclusion that life sucked
and
-eaten something (the black dude had given them some of the food he had)
"Ok Leo, can you get the time machine over here? So we can get home and to the proper era." Jason pointed to the ground near him. "Sure thing, Jason," Leo said, dragging the time machine behind him. He fiddled with the dials and pressed the button. For the third time that day, (or whatever, Hazel didn't know how time was working anymore) demigods and time machine disappeared in a flash of light.
(Author's Note: Man, this was a long time coming. Sorry if you were actually reading this and have been waiting for updates. I had writer's block and other problems, aka school.
On a lighter note, where and when do you want them to go next? Three more adventures then they go back to modern day.
